Really like the country rail crossings, good night catch esp on the Portland line which is terribly underused and neglected,of course here in Melbournel level crossings dissappearing,in Glenhuntly where l live,2 crossings gone in the past year
Yes the hybrid put in a good effort, you can bet the replacement Siemens bell won’t last anywhere near that long! Other hybrids on the line that were replaced such as Cashmore Rd and Darts Rd were also having issues so at least it wasn’t just a pointless upgrade
@@McKHAust Thank goodness for that. Plus, you managed to film them all before the replacements. It seems they only really replace bells on the Portland line when they die. Shame it’s not like that on other lines.
The only recent replacement which took me by surprise was Glenthompson, as last time I was there the hybrid sounded fairly good, guess it could have died though as it was replaced more recently than Condah. I have filmed the hybrid but haven’t got around to releasing the video yet
I realise it's heresy to say this, but to my ears, the Siemens e-bell sounded better than the Westinghouse hybrid. But then I've never really liked hybrids. I even turned one down when it was offered to me. Okay, perhaps that was a mistake. 😮💨 I repaired one for someone once and it still didn't make me want one for myself. lol! That said, still sad to see even a hybrid get replaced by an e-bell. Of course teardrops (ANY teardrop) is automatically going to be better that either. 😁
@@McKHAust it'd be boring if we were all the same. But generally I still prefer to see hybrids hanging on than being replaced by e-bells. And some e-bells sound horrible to my ears. :)
Great catches!
Thanks!
Nice video and crossing!
Thanks!
Cool vid, always love the white pole crossings 👍got such a classic look to them
Thanks!
Great video and crossing! Love that rainbow in the opening picture!
Thanks!

nice video mck&h aust. keep the good work.
Nice catch with the rainbow at the start of the video
Thanks!
Real shame the hybrid bell was replaced. Do you think it might have died or something? It didn’t sound the best in this video.
The video made the bell sound better, actually was much worse in person so I’m not surprised that it was replaced
@@McKHAust I’m glad they didn’t replace it for no reason. The hybrid must have been there since the 1980s at least.
