Thank You for this hack! Can you provide some long term review of this solution? Do the heating settings in the dash work as expected (low, med. high)? Or the grips just work by default e.g. at max intensity? I plan to do this on my 2023 Mt-09
isopropal alchol worked perfect for installing new oem grip...if I take it back off I am just injecting rubbing alcahol rather than cutting off perfectly good expensive new grip! alcohol totally lubes then locks OEM grip when it dries....amazing
The cool (hot) thing is? I only need the left side heated because I had amputated/replanted partial middle finger which is entirely totally cold intolerant now (turns BLUE and HURTS) so simply buying one of these should do the trick! Thanks!!
I had an extra one that you use for the bar end mirrors... They are on Amazon... This was a year ago, I will have to look through my orders to find a link...
If you're cutting off the connector from the grips anyways, do you know of it matters if it's the white vs black? Can't find the left side white anywhere still
It doesn't matter which connector, the white makes it a little easier to access the wires but if you go with the black ones all you have to do is strip back some of the insulation on the outside to access the wires and you're good
Well, keep in mind that options change on Amazon from time to time. The links and selections listed in the description are what I purchased and am using... If something changed after the fact, then people might have to use those, or, get the parts that I used, from another source?
@@likeawind123 I put the links in the description... Now that more people are catching on to this cheaper way of doing it, supply might be harder to find in stock...
Let me know how you like the Michelin Road six. I had those on my bike that I just traded for my 2023MT 10. I’m thinking about going back to the road six once I burn out the S 22s that came from the factory.
I love them. I had Road 5s on 2 bikes, and then road 6's on the Speed Twin, and I have had them on the MT-10 for a little while now. Best all around street tire IMHO.
The heated grips on Amazon are saying that they will ship in 6-7 months. I found some on REVZILLA but I can only get them in the black 2 pin or the black 3 pin. Does it matter that it’s the white pin? If I’m cutting it off and splicing a Yamaha turn signal connector on, I would imagine it should work just fine. Would you agree?
I think that between my video, VCyclenuts and others, the Amazon inventory got wiped out. $55 instead of $300 is a big difference. As for white plug vs black... I can't say. It sounds like it might work on paper, but I have no way of knowing...
they ship right away now for 16 bucks each grip keep searching use more words they are there I just bought a pair bit DO get the THREE WIRE connector and simply look at the back of the connectors in headlight to see with two wires to use polarity does not matter as it is purely resistive load nothing fancy not only was the 2 wire adaptors using wrong pin out for heated grips but also really tiny wires compared to video
I have a set of Daytona grips on mine operated by a single button on the left grip with a single LED to show setting level and status. I would have preferred to have the wired in to he dash version but these will do.
Yeah, at the end of the day you just need warm hands, so whatever works, right? This just worked out nicely because it was super cheap, and plugged right in.
Apparently/sadly it wont work with only one grip which is all I needed dang it....the ecu does not recognize just one? I really only wanted the left hand for my bad circulation in one replanted finger which was nearly amputated and no longer tolerates cold
Not sure. But at the end of the day, the grips are cheap. Even if you only think you need one, just install both, it will work fine and you will have matching grips?
rubbish on which model? My OEM heated grips on 2022 Tracer 9GT are WONDERFUL! You have to be careful even not to select too high a number 1-10 5 is about all the heat I can stand....which ones are "rubbish"? Yamaha has lots of models for so many years it is ignorant IMHO to condemn everything a manufacturer ever made based on a single model! Just saying
I have the oem integrated heated grips on my 2023 MT-10SP and they are definitely not rubbish. As the previous commenter said, there are 10 heat levels which you can select from as your low, medium and high defaults. If you choose 10 as your high, it’s almost too hot to ride with.
@SquireSCA that's fair I was actually surprised how easily my mt10 grips came off and went back on, I'll be buying the cables to do this mod on the weekend
Please put this on top or quote it on top I dont want credeit DO use the 3 wire old style turn signal adaptors BECAUSE I bought the 2 wire and guess what? NOT the right two wires keyed to the OEM grip connectors under the headlight cover! I was able to use them but I had to create a new thrid groove in the new connector so it would key right otherwise you only pick up one of two wires BTW it DOES work with only one grip which vecause of the keying problem wrong wire I was only getting one wire connected (unkowingly) So when it did not work . I THOUGHT I had to have both grips when I onlu needed the left anyway (had surgery on left hand it cant tale cold) all good now BTW I did NOT havecut off the OEM grip I simply folded it back as much as I could and then ppured a little rubbing alcohol in and THEN twisted and pulled and it came right off like brand new so why destroy a new grip? They are like 20 apiece OEM new I think
The connectors linked to in the description are the exact ones I used. I didn't have to modify anything, they plugged straight in like they are supposed to. They are 3 wire and needed no modification.
"gorilla" glue is now just a brand there are several kinds including wood glue and crazy/super glue ...."gorilla glue" means nothing these days without completing the TYPE...much to my dismay when I asked my wife to pick me up some gorilla glue...one time she came home with wood glue and the next time crazy/super tyoe glue....there is also 2 part epoxy and the original gorilla glue...just saying

They work properly through the dash, on the different heat levels, just like the OEM ones do. No issues.

Plugged mine in and it doesn’t activate them in the menu? Any ideas?
Maybe turn yours on in the sub-menu? Mine and others, they fired right up. What year is your MT10?
If I can just get the part number for the LEFT I'll be Golden
I don't know... They changed the drop down menu choices since I ordered...
is this the part number for right hand OF696T7

I need heated grips, seat, tank.footpegs. Scottish pish winter is a coming
Does this work with MT10 RN45 , 2019?
I don't know. Never tried it and I don't have access to one to try and plug mine in.
Would have been easier to just shove a flat head screw driver in the grips and roll it around the bars had them off in half the time
Yeah, that works too. I have just always used the air compressor, especially when putting grips back on.
