Hi Kev, This was a joint project with my son and he wrote to the Steam Packet some years ago. The upshot was we were shown round the Ben when she was in Douglas. Our source material was a techical diagram available on the net and a series of photographs from which we had to do scale calculations (not always successful). Very much trial and error, more the latter I think.
Nice looking model of the Ben. Can I enquire as to where you sourced the plans for a build. I approached her builders but they went bust some time ago. I'm in the process of a scratch build of the side loader 1972 TSMV Mona's Queen in 1:96. Hoping to get to the IOM for the Manannan model boat in 2013.
Dear IOMferry, Hi, This was a labour of love and it is not for sale (yet). It is not finished but it has progressed some since the video. Notably the bridge railings have been added. I am obliged to let Cpt Taha of the IOMSPC Ltd. have a look at it first and he will also get to sail it. We are now down to the fine detail and there will be another post sometime in the future. Might I please invite your question again at that time?
