Hello everyone 😊 As I've mentioned in the video, the MERCH is now available on my website, Please let me know what you think 🤘🏻🔥 Thanks for all the love & support, Love you all 💜🙏🏻
I got into slam about 10 years ago through the ARDM scene. The only issue I have is they need to be more original and it's feeling kinda oversaturated atm.
Hey there, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, I love your channel! As a very old member of the band I thought it would be good to go through here and just mention some things for the sake of clarity and accuracy. My apologies it is a bit lengthy. 2:46 - the ORIGINAL lineup was CJ (vocals), Cory (guitar), Rodney (guitar/bass), Collin (Guitar) Greg Charley (drums). Within the first few months of the band’s founding, Rodney was leaving so I joined on GUITAR, officially making Collin’s move to bass. This was the lineup of which we made our first album, Senseless Order. The FIRST members of SOTS were always Cory and CJ. In 2016 Greg left, at that time I moved to drums at which time Jacob joined on guitar. It’s this lineup that you see in the Mouth Sewn Prophets video. 6:25 - This is Jimmy Pino’s first performance with the band circa 2017. At this time I had stepped away to do more touring with another band as some members of SOTS did not want to tour at the time. 2 months after my departure, the band got a tour offer, but bassist Collin was not able to tour. So the band asked me to return for the tour on bass as I already knew how to perform the songs. It was at this time that Collin decided to step away, bringing me to the position of Bass officially. (Just to avoid any questions on this, I left because I was made to believe SOTS would not be a touring band. I have always believed in this band and always wanted to be a part of it, but only if touring was in the cards. This is why I was so willing to return so quickly, under any position.) 13:52 - As CJ had left right before a lengthy touring schedule, we called in David to fill in for those 2 tours. At that time Dave did not have his passport, so for the Canada days we asked Matthew to fill as he is native to Canada. Respectfully, Matt was never in the running to be a member but was happy to fill in and we were extremely grateful to have him. FUN FACT: Will Ramos was the other vocalist in the running at the time, as he was just coming off of his time with A Wake In Providence. While Will was absolutely wonderful, we wanted a different sound. Also, Dave had busted his ass on the road with us for 3 months straight and far beyond earned the position in the band. 18:50 - This is correct, but Jacob had actually made his decision to leave the band at the time. This is when we asked Jeff Russo to join. We did 2 videos with Jacob on bass (The Collection & Totem), and then he officially stepped down from the band. The single Pernicious was released before this change. The lineup in this video was David, Cory, Jacob, and myself. Another fun fact: the man in the Pernicious video is Dave Rucki, friend and drummer for the band Sentinels 20:30 - The Collection was our first venture with guitarist Jeff Russo. 27:05 - The Absolvere tour were our first performances with bassist Mike Cassese, and the Unbridled single was our first official release with Michael as a member of SOTS. 29:45 - We brought Carl in officially in February of 2023 after a lengthy auditioning process. He joined us for our final week in the studio while recording Amongst the Low & Empty, where you can hear some of his solos and backing vocals on the album. 31:05 - This was our second time performing ATL&E live, and our set was delayed by 3 hours to due heat, rain, and a power outage on the outdoor stage at The Orpheum in Tampa, Florida. Admittedly, maybe our roughest performance of the song ever on camera LOL. Just want to say thank you so much for your kind words and the work you did putting this video together!
I remember when you guys had Matt fill in for vocals in Saskatoon at Black Cat Tavern and I didn’t even know he was doing it, since he lived in Saskatoon for almost long period of time I didn’t even question why he was at the show , I assumed he moved back to Saskatoon until he walked on stage with you guys 😂.
To my ear, David's voice became more distinct/unique over time. Specifically that gnarly wet sound his voice has became more pronounced. Sounds like he's gargling blood and I love it
Cespool of Ignorance is THE song that transitioned me from listening to Slipknot and Metallica to deathcore and heavier music. I was purely in aww of what I was hearing.
You mentioned CJ’s scream at 12:05, he also did a similar scream with the snort and everything on Bind the Sacrifice’s track Obsidian Depths when his feature starts. It’s pretty funny how similar it is to the To The Hellfire breakdown actually and that album came out in 2018.
SotS is the gold standard for deathcore vocalists, hands down. CJ and Dave are the literal kings of gutterals. Probably two of the best all around vocalists with a full range. I'll never not listen to them, despite whatever controversy comes out. It's just good jams man.
I remember hearing nightcrawler and cesspool of ignorance for the first time, fell in love instantly. I’ll always love CJ’s vocals but Dave IS SO GOOD and a perfect fit for them, Totem hits on a different level. All eras of this band are amazing. Great video again, keep them coming 🔥🔥🔥
Might sound surprising but I'm from France, a real frenchie, and I could'nt tell you were not an english speaker cause your english level is so clean ! I'm a big fan of Deathcore obviously, and I discover your channel about 15 days ago, which I've been binge watching since ! Very refreshing youtube music content mate !
Seen these guys live 3 times now and they never disappoint 😎 Also, CJ is basically the Johnny Craig of the Deathcore world, but holy shit is he a beast
Hey, Yan. I'm a viewer from the UK. Your merch looks dope and your website design is awesome. I remember watching you from your very first video ages ago. Podcasts, Discord and documenting about MySpace music. It's a vibe. I never experienced the scene growing up but watching your videos brings a sense of nostalgia from old school bangers to modern hits. Just wanted to say well done and keep up the good work Yan. 🙂👍
Such a beautiful comment, thank you very much! Also, thanks for being there since the start.. means the world. I still can't believe it's been a year already !
Easily one of the best deathcore bands imo. Seen them live a few times and they are incredible, always been a fan of everything they've produced however I definitely feel they have consistently gotten even better and more unique with every release
The first live footage you played of CJ at the foundry- I have watched that live vid dozens of times all the way through. Cj was on another level during that time
I really like how you focused on C.J. as an artist. I had my opions on him until i read someones comment that really made sense and it was. " Can all of you put the artist before the artists personal life" I really thought about that comment and it fit for me...C.J. is an amazing artist and I feel deserves to be treated as one.
YES! I freaking love SOTS, and David is such an awesome vocalist! Bobby is such a sick drummer too 🙂Thanks for another fantastic video! I am enjoying the new stuff post Myspace era. I agree that David was amazing when he started, and he just keeps getting better! Amongst the low and empty is by far their best album, in my opinion. Merch looks awesome too!
God, I love them so much. I saw them live with Angelmaker, Snuffed on Sight and Thy Art is Murder a couple months back and they absolutely killed it, such a wicked show. Hands down Pernicious is my fav song of theirs, that song fuuuuuuuuuuuuuucking slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaps
Recently found your channel and absolutely love it! I've been listening to deathcore for yearssss now, but have never really paid attention to the bands' histories or anything. Now I am discovering just how much this genre means to me, and metal/heavy music in general, and have been wanting to catch up on everything and learn more about the bands I listen to on the daily, especially the bands that have brought me this far into heavy music. Your channel really is helping me achieve this--thank you so much!! Keep doing what you're doing; it's phenomenal!! 🖤
I love this band so much, they were insane live, one of the most heavy bands i have ever seen. I am going to see them live again in November, "Pernicious" is one of the most beautiful songs i know. Keep up the amazing work, your channel is pure love.
Not many people know that Lorna Shore may not have become as viral as they were because Will almost joined signs of the swarm and they ended up picking their touring vocalists over him and the other guy
This is a really great band with a lot of great songs, and each of their albums and singles has something different to offer. This is really hard for a deathcore band to keep things unteresting but they got me hooked first with Malevolent Enslavement, than I forgot, then The Collection came and I was sold, but really my favourtie song is Unbrideld, this is a masterpiece, and Amongst The Low and Empty is really great. This is the only deathcore band that brought me back 4 times to their newer stuff, they really do things right
Hey man, i really enjoying your videos, editing/storytelling is very well done. I'm always #tilltheend every video. so keep "documenting heavy music". 👏👏🤘🤘✌️ P.S merch is sick, love the designs.🔥🔥
The albums I adore very much and mean so much to me are all of the Dave albums so far. “Amongst The Low & Empty” and “Absolvere” are my favorites. I relate to Amongst very well, and was excited when it came out. But the one I love the most is “Absolvere”. The sheer heaviness of that album. And with the singles, “Unbridled” is my personal favorite. I relate that one to my mindset of bad things that has happened in this world, especially in this day and age. A year ago, there was a stabbing at the middle school I gone to. Basically two kids got into it and one stabbed the other. I’m pretty sure the kid that was attacked is okay now but when I heard about the incident, I just that my community is now an unbridled community now. Another incident that happened was that a body was found in the trunk of a car at a local garage. The body was there so long that it had to get shoveled out. It was bad. I was pissed and angry that my community was not as safe anymore. So when I put on a song like “Unbridled” it helps figure what the song could be about, and from what I read in the lyrics, it seems like it is talking about how this world is nothing but unbridled hatred.
Love this band and these Guys so much, I really Love the first 3 Albums! Senseless Order The Disfigurement Of Existence Vital Deprivation. Thank You For This Video! 🙏🏻 🔥❤️🔥🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️❤️🔥🔥
Interesting fact, Carl used to play bass in great american ghost in 2023. They had some photoshoots with him so it looked like he was going to become a permament member but the guys in signs were faster.
I saw them play live twice- once with each vocalist. Could totally be the mix and the acoustics of the clubs but CJ's vox got muddled into the low end of the mix, where Dave's stood out way more.
i been here since the beginning and I love seeing your channel grow. with that being said i also love how you literally butcher the word butcher 🤔🤣🤘🏻 keep em coming!
Thank you for everything you do you always do awesome videos I enjoy I wish there was a way I could chat And have you ever thought about doing a Upon a burning body video I'm from TX too I think it would be sick
Ummmmm, did anyone also mention that during the drum solo for amongst the low and empty, their percussionist performed something I forgot the name of (its called something like tetra-something lol), not once but twice I believe, and it is 1,000 beats per second, which can cause someone's heart to explode.... only a few others can do this, Joey from slipknot can do it as well, but the drummer from SOTS is the only one I've heard actually pretty much do it back to back.... That is fucking talent right there. Just figured I'd put that out there... Lol
Cj is absolutely unmatched regardless of what all his haters say. If you dont like him dont listen to his stuff. And if you still believe his crazy x's allegations despite her saying they were all fake, your a special form of mouth breather

I think we can all agree on that, CJ is inhuman with those gutturals.
The claims against CJ were retracted but people are still judging him for it. "It" being the lies some stupid chick told about him

Dope band
Are you gonna be making vids about the old scene again?

First 2 sots records are unbeatable. No thoughts of trying to be mainstream and weak, just pure hatred in musical form.
Cj is absolutely unmatched regardless of what all his haters say. If you dont like him dont listen to his stuff. And if you still believe his crazy x's allegations despite her saying they were all fake, your a special form of mouth breather
Cinnamon rolls are life 🤤
