  • Checking out the Edifier 1700BTs Bluetooth bookshelf speakers. I've been using these speakers for a few months now - I use these for everything from listening to music, watching movies, to editing videos. These could be some of the best computer speakers I've personally used, and all for under $200. Check out the video for the full long term review.

I’ve had a set of these for a while now. Love them. I mostly use them as “monitors” for music production. Couldn’t fit full size monitors on my desk and these fit the bill perfectly. Highly recommend.

I have a set of these in my den. I hooked mine up to a modest Yamaha subwoofer, and the sound is awesome. They sit on top of my main tower speakers that are awesome sounding audiophile "beasts" that cost at least four times as much. However, the Edifier R1700BTs are surprisingly clear, with very good sound-staging, spacing and pace, rhythm and timing. Sometimes I confuse them with my towers. That's how good the Edifiers are. Also, I got mine brand new from Amazon for only $129 on sale. I can't imagine a better audiophile experience for such a small amount of money.

Get the r1855db + the edifier mr4 for studio monitor clarity, you can change between both based on what you want to listen to. Details or general listening. R2750db is expensive but can never get the detailed sound of a studio monitor, and the 1855db is good enough for your intended use.
If you buy the r2750db you'll go further down the rabbit hole and eventually upgrade to something more expensive.

The only problem is those speakers require proprietary cable to connect the right in the left so you are limited on how far they can be apart unlike the model below those that use standard speaker cable and you can put them anywhere you want. I really really considered those speakers but that proprietary cable limits you greatly and it is rather thick

    • @KyleErickson
      @KyleErickson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Fair enough, I find the cable to be quite long (longer than I would ever need by quite a bit), and a replacement cable if anything happens is only $20. But totally get why you might feel that way!

I don't think that wire is proprietary. I'm not 100% but I think it's a 5 pin din speaker wire. It's actually pretty commercial in the audio world. You can get that wire in many places for about $10

Bass is not satisfactory though other sound reproduction is awesome like guitar strings and overall music experience is great!

    Can you confirm:
    1. Bluetooth cannot be disabled. People can connect to your speakers all the time (crowded city).
    2. There is no way to turn the speakers on without the remote. Is it true? Or is it true just for bluetooth?
    Thanks!

      1. You can switch between bluetooth or line in from the remote control, so if you select line in, it will disconnect bluetooth.
      2. There is an on/off switch at the back of the main speaker.
      Hope this helps. 🙂

Yes, but even if you're line-in mode, someone in the building can connect in bluetooth and the speakers will change to bluetooth. Since the pass is 0000, it can be a big issue in the city..

@@MorkusReX I guess that could be a problem. I have a set myself and live in a busy city across from a University and haven't experienced any problems so far. I researched lots of user reviews before buying and didn't come across any complaints concerning this, so maybe it's worth taking a chance. Anyway, best of luck on your choices.

Thanks. Currently testing the Presonus 3.5. If I decide to return them, I'll probably go with the 1700.

The bts version has no such issue, I'm using it now, you have to initiate Bluetooth mode on the remote first before it goes into pairing mode(blinking blue led on The right main speaker)
Once the Bluetooth device is paired the blinking will stop and the blue led stays on
If you switch to wired mode , the led will turn green.

I bought them to replace my 20 year old Logitech x-530 2.1 System. Trust me, they are trash. My old System is way better in every aspect. I hate them thats all i can say.
