    Thank you. I love your presentations and your passion and work ethic. Of course most people understand the high level of competition that there is for web and design services, its not that easy and it gets harder all the time. Your formula is correct when it is going well but its important to understand that managing your business is a different set of skills and the best designer in the world may not ne a great manager or business person. I feel that the important steps should be taken slowly and steadily, attention to detail and be the best at each step you can be.

    Once again, great video for the new people that want to start their own Design Business / Website Business etc. I only have to mention 2 important things.
    1) You can also buy a reseller hosting with WHMCS where you'll be able to have separate cPanel Accounts for each customers, more secure and giving also the freedom to the client to manage their own Account, Emails, etc. or to suspend them in for some reason they didn't paid you. You have your own Hosting Business also.
    2) Charging your clients for plugins like Builders, etc. it's completely wrong in my opinion, because you we got paid to build their website and it's our responsibility to have our own tools, like a car mechanic, a dentist etc. If they need more security or some other features, then it's ok to tell them they have to pay for them.
    Once again, thank you for sharing with us such a good content every time! Cheers from Greece

    Hey Rino,
    Great video again as always! Quick question: how do you handle work that comes from updating plugins/wordpress? For example, if updating Elementor Pro breaks something on the website: do you fix this and is the cost covered within maintenance packet or is this considered extra work where you give a calculation and let the customer decide if they want it fixed?

    • @achrafsouissi2103
      @achrafsouissi2103 ปีที่แล้ว

      For website maintenance, I usually charge per hour, you can't keep on fixing it for your entire life for free.

    • @rinodeboer
      @rinodeboer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with Achraf here. It’s the same with a car. You pay for yearly maintenance, but if something breaks you pay extra for parts & labor.

    • @Renee-dev
      @Renee-dev ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your input. I agree as well but still am wrapping my head around it.
      So if ‘your’ work is the reason why it breaks, do you fix it and charge them or send a quote and leave it up to the client to decide whether or not to fix it?

    • @rinodeboer
      @rinodeboer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In most cases it's not "your work", because you didn't develop the plugins that caused these issues. In most cases its compatibility issues with other plugins. Not your fault. And of course you should always leave it up to the client if they want to have something fixed.

    • @Melissa_Lawrence
      @Melissa_Lawrence ปีที่แล้ว

      I offer a maintenance package to my clients which includes plugin updates etc along with 2.5 hours/month of my time to work if it's needed, and that 2.5 hours does not carry over to the next month. I have my clients pay for 6 months at a time for the maintenance package, and if they pay for a full year I give a slight discount. Also, before I update Elementor pro plugin, I always do a quick site backup via my web hosting provider.

  • @ire84100
    @ire84100 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very interesting video! I like your method, it's a good idea letting your clients pay you for managing their hosting and their Elementor version. But what you do if, at a certain time, they decide not to work with you anymore?

    • @XaviVall
      @XaviVall ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My clients pay me for their hosting, domain and elementor pro, I specify them the disadvantages of their hosting, domain and elementor expiring, I also link it to my web maintenance service, I also explain them the disadvantages of not having a web maintenance. I always charge it annually, the client will always stay with you because the disadvantages are worse and in the long run it will cost them more than paying for your service

    When you engage with a client they usually have a set price when coming in. It’s your job to raise the value. Could be if your making them an extra $15k or whatever and explaining that you were service will drive more users and make it easier for users to navigate book you, and by the clients products, etc. Also, another business tip don’t give us a price until you’ve asked him very good questions you know how much revenue you’re going to make from them with your service how much are they going to make a month they’re making good amount of revenue charge a lot charge three or US$4000.😊 when you’re cheap and you’re cheap out on your self clients notice that then if they come back, they will always expect that low. She pay Ivin $1000 is cheap not worth anyone’s time to do a project that small.

    Hey Rino,
    Great video! Practical question: let's say your client already has a website running on another platform, let's say Wix. How do you start working on the website in WordPress and elementor, while keeping the existing website online until migration. And how do you migrate then from Wix (old) to the wordpress (new) environment? Any help or articles on this are much appreciated.

    • @KryptorLP
      @KryptorLP ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easiest way is to create a subdomain and install Wordpress on it. You can use some migration plugins to migrate websites (only Wordpress websites) from one website to another. If the client got wix you should see, if you can buy a Wordpress hosting on his provider and cancel the wix one. After building the website on the subdomain you can change the link from the subdomain to the real domain but this is something what happens with your provider.
      Hope this helps a litte bit :)

So I don't have any plugin subscriptions yet, like Elementor Pro, Crocoblock, iThemes Security, etc. And I'm not sure whether I'll continue in this business. The problem is that you normally can spread these costs across all clients. But when you have to buy all these subscriptions for one single website, the costs will run quite high. Do you think it is reasonable to have all these costs reimbursed by the first client? Or what would you recommend?

I've been thinking of doing Webdesign for florists since most of them don't have a website or a webshop i think it's a nice niche that i already understand how it works. But do you also write all the text and provide pictures or is that the clients work?

      @william_SMMA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the client provides the media and text
      Unless you're running ads or posting on their behalf, that's when you can create the text yourself
      A florist web design agency is a good idea though, just make sure you'll be able to charge $1k to $2.5k for the projects, as some industries aren't profitable enough to justify such a high investment
      Some might want to pay you just $500 for the whole project and it's up to you to determine if that's enough

      Updating content or changing the design isn’t part of my maintenance package. This is considered extra work and I make a separate calculation on how much work this is. Then I discuss it and only start when they agree on the price. So yes, the few dollars is just for updating the plugins.

      That's a great idea
      You can also use that money to find clients on Upwork
      They usually pay higher than Fiverr and you can control how many clients you get by the outreach proposals you send
      You might need to invest $100 to $150 in connects on Upwork to apply for jobs
      But you can then find a job easily that'll pay you $500 upwards
      You might have to apply to 200 jobs though

    • @rinodeboer
      @rinodeboer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not fully agree with that. First of all because Webflow is not a design tool. It’s a webbuilding tool. Don’t confuse designing with building. And the same can be said for Elementor. Like I explained in this video: you can let your clients pay for your multiple license subscription or just let them buy a single license and hosting. Same story.
