I used to completely take my health for granted for many years until it started to catch up to me in my early 50’s . I can’t believe how much damage drinking was doing to me . I have tried 101 different ways to learn how to moderate my drinking , but eventually it ALWAYS got out out of control again . Said a prayer for your Mother in Law. This is a great reminder of all the reasons to not go back to drinking or just stop. I, unfortunately, have found myself in a few of these situations. Spent a night in jail due to drinking and got a DUI resulting in thousands of dollars lost, but the worst is being diagnosed with cirrhosis at 41. Luckily, I was able to stop drinking and even though I have cirrhosis my life is 1000 times better than it was when I was drinking. Thanks for all you do for myself and all the people you are helping! I appreciate you so much, and thanks for helping me stay sober for one year! Prayers to your Mother in Law
Hey angie!!!! Thank you so much for the prayers! And thank you for being so nice and always being here! I'm so sorry if you have commented lately and I haven't gotten back to you. I am staying on top of it now. I felt so bad for so long, but I am finally getting better now. I am so thrilled that you have one year, and I know how you feel. That was the worst news that I have ever gotten myself. I am so sorry. Thank you again angie and I hope that you had a wonderful day!!! God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤
I feel all of this, LD. I can never lose sight again of what living really means. I DID lose my friends and family for that time period. My relationships with some of my friends from that time are still strained. We have deep love, but our connection is different. There's less trust and less easy just.. warmth between us. That's the only way I can think to put it. And I guess it's because I let people down so many times. I want to live until I'm 120 and spend that time making it up to those that I love and live fully, freely, and with joy. You can't do that when you're in active addiction. Love you, my friend!! All my love to this whole community! ❤
@amandaflaherty7528 hey Amanda! I'm sorry that you can feel all of this. You have been through a lot as well. I'm so sorry that things aren't the same anymore. I hope that changes. Much love back to you as well Amanda and I am so happy to talk to you again!!! I have been so behind lately because of my health. I'm feeling much better today and plan on being on top of this from this day forward, i hope I don't get sick again. I can't stand not talking to you guys everyday. I'm sorry if I have missed your comments lately, I promise it was just due to my health problems. Thank you Amanda!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!!! God bless❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@liverdisease-qb6rk oh my goodness, ld!! Never apologize!! I sincerely mean it when I say not to worry about commenting. I'm just compelled to share and send you my support. I know how much you care about all of us! Thank you for your empathy. I believe that things will get better with time and my commitment to showing that I can be relied on again. I'm so, so glad you're feeling a little better!! It feels great to be in touch. Just keep on taking care, my friend! ❤️😊❤️😊❤️
Dear LD, Here I sit in the hospital for a month now in the specialized care of the California Pacific Medical Center Hepatology. (Shoutout to CPMC). My umbilical cord burst (20lbs) that led to being transported to San Francisco. I've been to hell and back during this time. It is a trauma that will never escape my mind. This has led to infection and organ disease, TIPS surgery, hernia surgery, painful catheters potential dialysis and overall physical rehabilitation. I too, believe in the power of prayer, prayer sisters, family and friends and the almighty strength of God. I have leaned on HIM in the hours of need. I share my prayers with your MIL and your family. I support your channel and who are on their journey. To this community, put the bottle down, mend your brokenness and begin to live again. Peace and love to all.
Avoiding hangovers, withdrawals, possible DUIs, and not wanting to be overweight are what really helps keep me on the right path. There are bigger reasons to, but hey, whatever works. Any reason not to abuse alcohol is a good reason.
All super great reasons NOT to drink! These are huge reasons not too. Especially not getting a dui and hurting yourself pr someone else!!!! Thank you lemar!!! God bless😊😊❤
Can you guys pray for me. I gotta meet my probation officer for the first time tomorrow and I'm really scared. If I mess up I'm gonna have even more severe consequences. I HATE this disease
Hey downhom3! I will absolutely say a prayer for you my friend! I am so sorry that you are dealing with that. I know you are scared, I would be too. Stay strong my friend, you are going to be in my prayers and thoughts today. I hate this disease too my friend. God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@liverdisease-qb6rk this is all a blessing in disguise. That officer did his due diligence that day. I was in a mental health psychosis and something really bad could have happened. Now I got extra accountability to not drink. God is good
LD I appreciate how you are able to clearly, gently and compassionately tell your story and share other's stories. You have a real gift! And I appreciate and am grateful for you sharing it ❤ From both information and experience... one can remain sober for Years...but the sleeping Giant lays in wait and keeps growing. Alcoholism grows- even when sober. If one picks up again after Any period of abstinence they will be further down the hole. And the withdrawal is harder and more dangerous each time. I am so grateful for your videos...I could use some prayers to get sober again. I need some help.
Hey truthseeker! You are so welcome! I will absolutely say a prayer for you as soon as I finish typing this out. You are right, that sleeping giant is always there.... waiting for us to slip up. And the wds can be so bad, especially after going back and getting deeper down that hole. It gets so dangerous. Hang in there my friend, I believe in you!!!! Thank you again and God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
L.D., I’ve been taking your advice about using our extra money from quitting drinking to do something special. I’ve started new hobbies of plants, new cooking recipes and decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There’s literally a huge positive change in the way my environment has changed. If my surroundings look so much better, I’m sure my insides are doing better too!😊 I’m praying this morning for your Mother in law. 🙏 You’ve spoken so kindly of her. I know she’s a very special woman.💞 Please let her know that she’s in our thoughts and prayers.🙏💞
Hey cindy, that is so cool! Isn't it so awesome to see that money go to something positive??? I am so proud of you!!!! Thank you for the prayers, she really is the foundation of our family. I can't tell you how important she is to us and how much she has done for myself and my family. The definition of selfless, seriously. God bless❤❤❤❤❤
All of these examples are so true!! Every single one. Prayers sent to your mother in law LD. I pray that whatever she is going through gets better very soon!
I said a small prayer for your MIL. My dog Griffy got sick with Lyme disease a couple days ago but is doing much better now! I thought I was going to lose him 😢 Friends family and strangers prayed for him, even strangers on your channel. You are looking much better LD
Yes very true when we consume alcohol we are essentially consuming gasoline i.e alcohol contains ethanol crazy when you really start to think about it. Prayers for you & your mother-in-law LD 🙏 stay well my friend
I watched earlier, a Steeler football game that had me on the edge of my seat. Made me miss Ron so much, and I got all nostalgic about years past... but he was the supplier...so no booze for me! Glad I didn't. Great video!
Thank you ronsmom!!!! I'm so happy that you can watch and not drink. That's so hard for a lot of people.... like really hard. I know a lot of people who can't watch sports at all anymore now. I know you miss him so much, I am being serious and not just talking just to talk on here..... I really can't even imagine and I have no idea what you are going through. I wouldn't even begin to pretend that I can. It must be the most difficult thing in the world, you are such a strong woman for continuing to push forward and live your life. My hat goes oft to you. I just wanted you to know that. I have been meaning to tell you. I have not been doing a good job keeping up on the comments. I really haven't felt well. I didn't even pick up my phone at all while in the hospital. My stomach hurt so very bad. Sending you love, God bless ❤❤❤❤❤
@@liverdisease-qb6rk Thank you for the kind words! I am tossing that whole thought around the last 24 hours. The thought of not watching anymore. I really can't afford liquor anymore anyway being on social security. I recall Ron saying in the last few months when I asked him how he was feeling...he'd say he NEVER feels 100%. On the 27th of this month, it will be a year that he's been gone. Some days worse than others for us, but we know he's out of his misery in more ways than one.
Thank you cindy!!!! I really appreciate you saying that!!! I hope that you are doing well and staying dry!! It's time for some sun!! It rained again last night, my driveway is such a mess right now!!! So good to see you!!!! hope you have a wonderful day! God bless ❤❤❤❤❤

You have a great content in your videos. I can so relate..I have chirrosis too. I know it is so true what you say. I always need to remember where I was and how much better I am now. It's been 2 years but it's still scary stuff to have and your videos help. Thanks and 🙏🙏 for your mother in law
Thank you so much Caroline. That's so nice of you! I am so very sorry that you have cirrhosis. Man..... you know. You know how hard it is. The lethargy that you feel is beyond upsetting. Things used to be so easy before all of this. I was so strong and full of energy. We are not alone though. I am here with you. Thank you for being here. I am here everyday for you. That's why I started this channel.... for people that were sick and needed somewhere to go. I looked for stuff and there wasn't a lot. I thought that I could help and wanted to be there every single day, so that people in the hospital had something to watch. I wanted to teach about what cirrhosis is. So that family could watch as well. Thank you again for being here. God bless❤❤❤❤
I pop in once in awhile to see how you're making out, as we have the same illness. It's great that your talking about all the aspects of it, because sometimes it's those awkward too much information points that are what we wonder if any one else has to deal with . Please pardon this, tired , meds comment... THX man...

You are so awesome man!!!! Hope you had a wonderful day!!!! Talk to you soon!!! God bless😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
My health, family, friends, job, money, house, and the trust that took me so long to rebuild! That's what I have to lose. Everything we work for or try to build in this life, no matter how long it took us, can be destroyed in a fraction of that time by the choices we make, and it can be very difficult to get those things back. Without the support and love of my family, I would not be here right now. They were the only ones who were there for me when I got into trouble. Most of my "friends" disappeared when I got sober, but honestly they weren't my true friends anyway. They were pretty much drinking buddies, and a lot of them are still living that life right now. At one point I felt like I had nothing to lose in this world, and I didn't care whether I lived or died. Now I've come to realize that I have so much to live for, and so much to lose if I start drinking again. It's really just not worth it! Powerful message in this video, LD! Thanks and prayers to your mom-in-law!! 🙏❤
Just one cheap bottle of wine a night over the course of a year here in the UK would cost you in the region of £2,555 GBP / 3,294.97 USD. That's a steady addiction and doesn't include the extra alcohol for entertaining.
It’s been about 2.5 weeks since I’ve had a drink. I felt really good at first . Yesterday got a bad headache. At 58 I’m stopping before I completely ruin my health.
I am so happy for you! Congratulations my friend!!!! 2.5 weeks is really a long time, the headaches happen. They will eventually stop. You are doing the best thing in the world for yourself my friend!!! Here's to your new healthy life!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 God bless❤❤❤❤

Great video LD, thank you so much! I was wondering if you could do a video about Korsakoff's syndrome and memory loss some time? That is what people get when they drink so much over a long time, and I guess you drank a lot as well considering you're saying half a gallon of vodka every day or every other day, which is probably enough to cause that. However you don't seem to have any of those kind of complaints. Keep safe keep sane.
Hey froggy! I can absolutely do a video on that! I did one a long time ago if you want to go check it out, but i can definitely do another one this week! Thank you for the idea! God bless❤❤❤❤
Sometimes you can’t give up unless you hit the hard call. Maybe it’s too late ,I see you. I am an every other day drinker. Excuse my name. Just an heda.
I sure did, very bad. To the point that just started buying plastic bottles because I kept dropping them in the morning and breaking them because of it. God bless😊
I know im weird - i love hospital food! Somebody delivers me a hot meal and picks up the dishes? A varied bunch of items plus coffee right there? No complaints from me!
Hey mophattio! Thank you so very much for your super thanks my friend!!! You have no idea much your support helps!!! I truly do not want to see anyone else have to go through what I have because of my excessive consumption. Thank you again my friend!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day! God bless ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Only at life’s end on dr,s diagnosis does the capability to give up drinking actually activate. Then you. I ain’t there but have had that fright. You put me before where you were. I have not totally given up yet. 2 times a week at the mo. Dude you was drinking 3 times more than I am. Being straight is good more productive than sitting in a chair blur braining. I say make sure you plan it ,,planit earth, join the plan bless like no other.
holllly shit i just looked up alcohol calories and its insaaaane how high the calorie count is considering its not even foood . that is craazy. especially if you actually drink a considerable amount ....you can literally potentially reach your caloric limit just by drinking 😂 i always thought people were just exaggerating when they mentioned the calories ...😅
Me to used to not remember what I would say my wife left me after talking shit when I was drunk still talk to her but never will come back the drink is mind and body poison I sit here today waiting to start a job nearly bankrupt will clear my debts but I can't go back if I do I will lose it all the cost of drink is not worth it you still don't sound good look after yourself thanks the sapphire miner
You made some really good points the best wishes to your mother inlaw if you're interested I have a true story about a drunk that had a argument with his girlfriend and took out a family it maybe bit to rough a story for your Chanel though the sapphire miner Sj
Just got a DUI on a military base (where I work). I fell asleep with the car running drunk with an open container in the car, blew over the limit. Been there almost 20 years, and now I fear losing everything. I will no longer be able to support myself and pay my mortgage without this job. It's not looking good. That was the worst news that I have ever gotten myself. I am so sorry. Thank you again angie and I hope that you had a wonderful day!!! God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@liverdisease-qb6rk No worries! I am just glad that you are feeling better!
Some prayers for your mum in law 🙏🏻
Thank you janet, from the bottom of my heart!! God bless❤❤❤
And gold bless you always as well 🙏😊
Dear LD,
Here I sit in the hospital for a month now in the specialized care of the California Pacific Medical Center Hepatology.
Sending thoughts and prayers from the UK to LD's mother in law. I hope you're continuing to feel better too following your procedure LD.
Thank you so much rwvegan!!!! You are so nice!! God bless you and your family ❤❤❤❤
Avoiding hangovers, withdrawals, possible DUIs, and not wanting to be overweight are what really helps keep me on the right path.
There are bigger reasons to, but hey, whatever works. Any reason not to abuse alcohol is a good reason.
Totally agree, whatever works. For me right now, I want to get rid of this beer belly
All super great reasons NOT to drink! These are huge reasons not too. Especially not getting a dui and hurting yourself pr someone else!!!! Thank you lemar!!! God bless😊😊❤
Sending prayers for your mother-in-law. May God protect her in whatever difficulty she is experiencing. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺🌺
Thank you so much Kathryn! I greatly appreciate it!!!! I really, really do!!! God bless ❤❤❤❤
God is good
Prayers sent up for your Mother-in-law 🙏
Thank you so much debra!!!! I really appreciate it! God bless❤❤❤❤❤❤
LD I appreciate how you are able to clearly, gently and compassionately tell your story and share other's stories. You have a real gift! And I appreciate and am grateful for you sharing it ❤
From both information and experience... one can remain sober for Years...but the sleeping Giant lays in wait and keeps growing.
@@liverdisease-qb6rk Thank you!
L.D., I’ve been taking your advice about using our extra money from quitting drinking to do something special. I’ve started new hobbies of plants, new cooking recipes and decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There’s literally a huge positive change in the way my environment has changed. If my surroundings look so much better, I’m sure my insides are doing better too!😊
I’m praying this morning for your Mother in law.

@@liverdisease-qb6rk
Thank you for the kind words!
Prayers for your dear mother-in-law

You have a great content in your videos. I can so relate..I have chirrosis too. I know it is so true what you say. I always need to remember where I was and how much better I am now. It's been 2 years but it's still scary stuff to have and your videos help. Thanks and 🙏🙏 for your mother in law
I am sorry to hear that you have cirrhosis as well. Same here. I hope you are doing well my friend.
We alcoholics have no "Off" switch. Our "Off" switch is broken.
Hereditary or conditioning, there is no 1 or 2 drinks for an alcoholic.
Great description, no on and off switch
I pop in once in awhile to see how you're making out, as we have the same illness. It's great that your talking about all the aspects of it, because sometimes it's those awkward too much information points that are what we wonder if any one else has to deal with . Please pardon this, tired , meds comment... THX man...
I am so sorry to hear that you have the same illness as LD. Is it cirrhosis? If you dont mind me asking?

Me too!!!❤❤❤❤ God bless
Will pray. I binge drank on weekends for 30 years and cried out to God. He pulled me out of that mess 15 years ago. He is mighty to save!
Prayers for the family ❤
❤❤❤❤

@@liverdisease-qb6rk Welcome, it's something I don't hear about a lot although it's very much end stage alcohol use disorder related.

Sometimes you can’t give up unless you hit the hard call. Maybe it’s too late ,I see you. I am an every other day drinker. Excuse my name. Just an heda.
LD....did you ever have shaking from withdrawals?
I sure did, very bad. To the point that just started buying plastic bottles because I kept dropping them in the morning and breaking them because of it. God bless😊
I know im weird - i love hospital food! Somebody delivers me a hot meal and picks up the dishes? A varied bunch of items plus coffee right there? No complaints from me!
I've only encountered 1hospital that had good food. The rest was 💩

@@liverdisease-qb6rk you are very welcome!
First?
You are absolutely right!! And especially if you drink liquor with mixers. Even more calories!!!!! Thank you!!! God bless ❤❤❤❤

Just got a DUI on a military base (where I work). I fell asleep with the car running drunk with an open container in the car, blew over the limit. Been there almost 20 years, and now I fear losing everything. I will no longer be able to support myself and pay my mortgage without this job. It's not looking good.
