Thank you both for all that you do! I don't usually comment on things I see on the internet but I just had to add my appreciation for your words. They bring so much peace/joy/healing to me and I'm sure many others.

I love your podcast and insights. This episode was hard for me to relate to b/c it seemed a lot of your anxiety was in regards to low probability risk events and the self-talk was about how likely it’d turn out well and relief after, long build up and quick release of anxiety into relief. My anricipatory anxiety is more with higher risk or events linked to past trauma. For example last MRI/CT led to chemo/surgery/radiation/pain/etc, so it was a short lead up of an event and the event led to years of negative experiences. So every MRI now I dread for weeks. I have surgeries that have 50% likelihood of not working and 55% likely that I will not survive, and doctors have made mistakes that have cost me body parts (they apologized for it and everyone makes mistakes, even great docs) so I feel like I can’t reassure myself the same way as for a one hour dental appointment that turns out well. I was wondering if you could speak to what you would do for anticipatory anxiety for events that are more likely to have a bad outcome than good. (I have another surgery this Friday, very scared). Thanks for reading ❤

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I know I'm not Sheryl but I couldn't bare to leave your comment hanging. Your question is so valid and you're right, their episode focused entirely on 'the light stuff' and bettering our quality of life by better navigating that 'mildly turbulent territory, which must have left you feeling unseen. But I hope that you managed to find some solace somewhere else.
And I hope your surgery went ok.
