This is a really cool looking Vostok. I really like that dial and I loved the history lesson around Vostoks and the technical detail. Thank you for an excellent video :)
Very enjoyable review, Shane. Your work keeps getting better! And as always, I'm digging what you choose to review. Vostok Amphibia have a ton of character, and this one goes beyond that, even. I purchased a Vostok SE a few months ago, myself, and it won't be my last. Looking forward to your next post.
You are one of the best Vostok reviewers. Therefore, I would like to recommend that you do a review of a vintage Vostok Precision Class with movement 2809, a copy of the famous and award winning Zenith Calibre 135 from 1948. If you are not aware, these Vostoks were the only Chronometer rated (by Swiss COSC stardards) Russian watches (ever). By the way, Meranom is still sold out of the Neptune and the Kom. GMT.
Thanks for Great review! I've got recently two Vostok Amphibia watches (670 and 120 cases) and they're just Amazing! Very very precise timekeepers! I'm from Moscow Russia and was quite skeptical before, buying Swiss or Japanese watches, so I'm glad to have some good domestic products

Cool vid. Man. Pleasant narrative, nice production, great textural composition-for close-ups. I do like the appearance and imputation of this model Vostok, and I identify with your perspective in this video. There is a cachet with the Vostok experience: a quirky, simplex, utilitarian, non-main-stream, alternative to the 'pack'.
Great review. That fully lumed dial looks amazing. I wonder why watches with this feature are so scarce since almost everyone is a sucker for lume. I got myself a small Lorus fully lumed field watch to scratch the itch. Ever since I’ve seen it, I’ve been lusting after a Vostok Neptune King with the textured dial and the sunset. I hope you take a look at it!
Nice one Shane love Vostok and have quite a number of them from Komenderski to Anphibia my favorite is the cushion case 090 . The watch you have reviewed looks great love the fully lumed dial.
I wholeheartedly agree that the 24h Vostoks needs a 24h bezel. I was thinking of modding it myself on a regular 24h Komandirskye, but I really really like the lumed face on this one; looks like a submarine gauge. I hope they re-release it because I'd like one.
I really like your videos being that your voice is so soothing and your analysis so captivating. I picked up an orange scuba dude and an ice monster with your awesome watch shots. Absolutely love them. Your taste is outstanding in timepieces. Keep up the good work.
Have you ever regulated any of your Vostoks? If so, could you put together a future video on how you performed the regulation. I’m sure we’d all appreciate it.
Great video! I have my first Boctok on the way (presently between Russia and the USA) and can’t wait.... this of course is all thanks to you! Great video! I love my little Vostok amphibian. You might want to try yours with a Barton Silicone Elite watch strap. They're super comfortable, look really nice, and come with a short and long strap (non-buckel side) for $20.00 US.
Great review!! This is a great addition to anyone's watch collection, when you can get your hands on one. (They do go out of stock quite often) This watch is one of 4 Vostok Amphibias in my collection. I love each and every one of them, as no two are alike. The're quite easy to regulate and mod. So far, I have 2 watches with a fully lumed dial....this one, and an Aragon Divemaster. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!!
Nice review! I love the Vostotk SE models. I almost bought the lumed dial 710 on the universal bracelet. BTW try a heat gun or a hair dryer for that bit of plastic around the lume pip, The heat will shrink it to it pretty much disappears.
I've had this one for about a year and I LOVE it. The lume isn't that great but the "white" dial gives enough contrast to be usuable in the faintest light. If the hands were solid black it would be perfect. I'm small-wristed so the size is perfect.
Relative Time check out the Zelos Swordfish V2 they have a white fully lumed dial version. I know you have the ice blue one in for review but you may need check the white one out. I am very close to pulling the trigger on this one.
Great video! I thought about building a Komandirskie with a full lume dial and after seeing your video, I'v started my parts list for my next watch. Great looking watch and totally agree with the 24 hour bezel.
I definitely like it (both the watch and the review)! I enjoy the Vostok watches that I own, and can absolutely see adding this one to my collection. The dial looks great and has a nice readability, especially compared to some other 24-hour watches. The strap is a nice upgrade, definitely goes with the watch and the nice black-and-white theme. The dial lume is a nice and novel touch, but really would just like to see some better lume on the Vostoks in general--would definitely up their overall value to the watch owner. Always look forward to your reviews...keep them coming!
Now that's a 24hr dial that I do not find confusing at all! 👏 That Glycine on the other hand.... I wish I could get this exact one for my nephew's birthday..
Hi Shane. Good pick. Definitely Amphibian SE are worth it to me, I mean paying a little more takes you to another Boctok planet. There is a "waiting list" for SE and you can get in just opening an account on Maronom and ask for an email as soon as the piece is in stock again. I am on this waiting list for a couple of SE I really would like to purchase. As to when and if they will be available nothing is said so I have no answers to that question as well! Just let's hope. Great video. Soft, well spoken and well paced. Typical gentlemen style. Keep it up.
You are right above the Vostok multiplying effect. Also worth noting that my last Vostok I bought from Meranom , I had them mod it for me, from parts from the website. I was happy with it, the price was good, and the surplus dial, bezel, bracelet and other bits of the original were also mailed to me with the order. A great service for anyone who want to customise their Vostok, and have an affordable, individual mechanical time piece. Great review #relativetime
Just purchased the 420SE with black dial and black date wheel, (this was the only SE model that had a date function). It comes on the rubber strap with red stitching. Really liked it compared to the more colorful Amphibian models. I agree that with the supplied bezel, crown, and strap, the $125 price tag is offset by the cost of modding other Amphibians. This is a Vostok I can wear proudly right out of the box. I'm anxious to familiarize myself with the 24-hour dial. First time for me!
@@mikewysko2268 One, of unknown provenance, runs about 10minutes slow per day. And the other one ....well, I had a slip whilst trying to regulate it, and trashed the balance. Now, I have several others that run less than +10 spd, so I have no reason to complain, really.
Two TH-camrs have pressure tested Vostoks to over 700m !! Insane result for a $75 dive watch ! Vostoks don't need to be hand wound as the auto mechanism winds in both directions unlike Seiko.
Hope history doesn't repeat like Australia's rabbit nightmare LOL.... As i'm Greek, i can recall seeing Vostoks on the hands of first generation immigrants coming that way back in the 80's. You on the other hand can see the beauty of the hole mix and match process and enjoy the hell out of it. Well done m8, once more. Fun uber alles!
Don't mind the bracelet that much really. No worse than some 70s Seikos:-) I believe that under pressure the bezel becomes less easy to turn, so works better than you think.
I have two SE amphibias from meranom. I think I've had them for almost 5 years now and they have held up great. Used one of them a lot in the military and had no problems. I did have the same issue with the sharp edges around the lugs (My 710 would destroy natos as I'd pull them through) so I used a file to smooth them out a little and now they are fine. Would love to get my hands on the 24 hour model you reviewed.
I'm glad to see a review of these! I picked mine up in fall of last year (but with the other handset and a slightly smaller bezel) when it looked like meranom only had a few left. Since then they've released many new versions so hopefully they will continue to resupply. I swapped the supplied minute counter for a 24 hour bezel, and it is certainly the way to go. As you said, the lug edges are too sharp and will scratch your leather nato, so be warned. My only other complaint is the movement is quite loud compared to my other amphibia. Someone on instagram had the same issue--have you noticed that with yours?
Great review. I have 2 full lume Vostoks, a K-34 GMT and a Amfiba Reef. They are the modern Vostoks, and have a workvest green-yellow dial. This one looks almost pure white, which I would prefer. I wonder if is C3. C3 appears slightly creme colored in the light while BGW9 is pure white in the light. Maybe if you put it next to a regular white dial it would be clear if it’s off-white. I have a 020SE with a regular white dial. It is nice. I also have a few 710 series models. They are the most common, the Blue-Green Scuba Dude has been reviewed several times. I like the 710, it has a cushion case and uses 22mm lugs. You have mentioned the K-34 before. It’s actually a nice field watch for under $200. The GMTs have a internal Bezel. It also has a 100m wr and a display caseback.
I’ve got one. My only problem is that the lume fades at the same rate for the dail and the hands until it gets to the point that you see a fuzzy green circle at 2am and cant tell what the time is
That seems to be a common issue with a lot of fully lumed watches. I've also heard it said about the fully lumed Orient Mako XL. One watch I've seen that avoids this is the Frost Zelos Horizions GMT. There the dial has more of a blue hue, but the hands are green. So it makes it easier to pick them out.
I have 3 Vostoks.......but now, I might have to increase that number...Every time you do a Vostok review, I get "Vostok fever" again.. Thanks a lot!!!!.......
I bought a 24 hour Komandirski 650546 that has 200 meters rating, and it was 89 with a extra mesh band I ordered with it including shipping from Meramon . Much cheaper getting directly. I have time to wait. These are fun watches to own in my opinion.
@@RelativeTime I ordered it yesterday and it shipped today. I got a tracking number already a d said 3-4 weeks. I love this sight. I ordered a mesh band. I think next time I order, I will get a few more straps and I see they had some cheap clearance watches.
Love this vostok - I have a komandirski and will get a Amphibia but would love to get a higher end more unique (in features if not kitsch looks,) Amfibia.
Its pretty cool. New SE versions show up on Meranom from time to time. Just keep an eye out for something interesting. Or get one and try moding it into something too.
I had a similar model for awhile. I liked it for all the individual reasons - fully lumed, 24H dial, great legibility. But it just never saw much wrist time. I ended up selling to someone who bonded with it better.
After buying my first Amphibia from Ebay I decided to try Special Edition one from Meranom. Everything was really nice. I have liked it so much after wearing it about year, ordered second one with full lume and with the strap same as yours. Additionally I ordered a leather strap for my field watch. But when I received them I was so dissapointed. Whatch fell of from my wrist in 10seconds. Rubber was detoriated or so, it was torn of along the steam. Crown was also not crisp as my previous SE Vostok had. It was not mashined and engraved, but stamped as like ordinary Amphibia. Bezel was an ordinary one as yours, previous SE one had 60 click unidirectional bezel. Then I realized that the strap I had ordered was also wrong one - with golden buckle, not silver as I wanted. Contacted to Meranom, they just ignored. My conclusion is that Vostok is no different from anything made in Russia. Quality is never consistent, forget about customer service. I still love my Vostoks. They are my everyday watches. Design and history behind the Vostok is amazing. But do not expect too much and think twice before you order form Meranom.
I need to follow your advice of getting a more affordable diver just for beating and vacation use. I'm currently on vacation in Clear Water Florida and just wouldn't risk bringing my new Nodus just to swim in.
I'm curious if anyone on here can help me. I have an amphibia with the 110 case and I hate it. The dial is awesome but the case is super flat with no curve in the lugs. I want to order a replacement case for it but Meranom doesn't offer pics from the side. Can someone recommend a case with nice curved lugs that will hug a small wrist. Also, I prefer a 22mm strap so no 18mm lug widths. Thanks for your help!
I've got an Amphibia as well and have been meaning to pick up a 24-hour model. One quick of the Vostok movements is that the beat error is *pinned*. Open that one up and you'll see there's no way to adjust the beat error, just the rate. That being said, mine has 0 beat-error and is dead on at +1 in 3 positions - regulated it myself. Weirdly, it keeps better time than my regulated Hamilton with an ETA movement in it. Vostoks are quirky tanks in that if you get one that works it will run forever but the very first one I ordered was a Komandirskie model that was DOA and sent back for a full refund and didn't get another one for 6 months.
You’re not wrong about the cases my Komandirskie 020741 is razor sharp between the lugs, the Amphibian scuba dude is smooth in comparison. At least the bracelet on the Komi is wearable though.
Great review! Have the exact same watch and I concur with your observations. Also thought of swapping the bezel for a 24-hour one. If you have any suggestions of one that'll fit this model, please let me know or update the info on this video. Thanks!

Damn you. Damn you to horological hell 😉 You're at least partially responsible for inspiring my purchase of a Phoibos Leviathan, and now you've infected me with this Russian watch nonsense. I couldn't find the watch in this video, but I've come away from Meranom having picked up the white dial Komandirskie 350607 24 hour watch. Even knowing full well it probably won't make it down here before Christmas. So, thanks. Thank you so much. And keep up the good work.............
Sorry 😎. Hope it gets to you soon. I've been looking at a few things on Meranom, but was concerned about shipping time these days myself. Always frustrating when I get something to make a video on, but goes out of stock before I can make it.
@@RelativeTime It's an unpredictable world. It will be a nice surprise when it does eventually turn up. As for stock runouts, it doesn't matter too much. I enjoy your videos for the time you take to photograph them properly and and for the insightful commentary that goes with them. Only six months ago I had no idea that watches and watch collectors were such a big thing. And because of you I don't now have to go looking for the elusive bargain Glycine Airman 24 hour movement. I can have a perfectly serviceable 24 hour from Vostok.🤔 One day.
a nice look at this watch. idk why? but, I've tried many full lume dials and rarely do they last, sadly. which is kind of surprising given the wide area that is covered by lume paint. I think good superluminova paint is expensive. but, if you're going to do a full lume dial, make sure you do it right and it actually works well beyond an hour. put a healthy application of lume paint! I am curious to see the fee full lume dials from seiko and citizen as they would likely be my last hope for a full lume dial that actually lasts and is more than just a sub 1 hour novelty. an additional downfall to full lume dials is when paired with lumed hands. eventually and usually not too long, all the lume dims to a very low level and maybe if decent will hold there for several hours. however, since the dial AND the hands are at this very low lume level, they look identical in tone and the contrast usually disappears and is pretty hard to tell the time without some bit of eye strain to make out the hands and dial. you're better off with a weaker lumed hand set over a black dial just because the contrast is greater. OR, the hands should not be lumed at all and are solid so you can see the dark silhouette of them against a dim glowing lumed bezel in the dark. as such, although I am somewhat excited to see a full lumed dial, they are actually not that useful and as long lasting as most would like and after the initial glow disappears following a fresh charge, they're actually not that great to read the time in the dark and in actual practice. that's been my experience with just about all full lumed dials.
Still have it, and no interest in selling. At least not right now. If you are into modding, I have seen a fully lumed vostok dial on ebay. you could get that and make something similar.
@@RelativeTime i want 24hr watches. so in fact i ordered 24hr komandirskie yesterday.. :) When the time comes when you want to sell, please leave an e-mail here, I want to leave my e-mail, but I am concerned about fraud(A scam that impersonates you)so I can't. Have a nice day!
This full lumed dial watches are very rare... The only other brand I've seen with a fully lumed model is orient with the mako XL. I wonder why they seem so uncommon? Unpopularity perhaps?. Nice video, I love your orange suba dude mod🖤🙌😎👍
I think some Classicas are available on Ebay, but considering that they run about $230 CAD last time I checked, I think they'd make an interesting review, but a hard sell if I were to buy it, even more so when smooth polished bezels are available for the 420 case and others (which means a 3-6-9 amphibia just gets to look explorer-y and dressier on the cheap)
Very true. If they pop up on Meranom I'll probably buy one. As it's an indication that they aren't discontinued. I've reviewed a few Vostoks no one can buy anymore (like this on and the Scuba). Usually have some comments from those frustrated they can't buy it.
The Crystal of the Vostok it's very special so as the back case, Vostok amphibia is in a class on is on, this watch if it was made in Switzerland it would have a totally different price, in other words, this watch is a master piece
I also have a Vostok Amphibia Scuba Dude in a 420 case with no date. I like the cleaner look but I haven't been able to back hack it which drives me crazy. I know that the date version you can back hack. Have you tried to back hack this Vostok?
I certainly love me a fully lumed dial: They are somewhat rare (as you said) and the yellowish-beige-ghostly colour isn't for everybody, but if you're on the fence, maybe go for it! Imagine it: at night, lume. for. days! And in the daytime, well, you can always resort to telling people about why this dial is of a slightly odd colour.
At some point. I wound up getting one a while ago as I was curious. Well made, but the one I got was a little beat up. So I never bothered filming it. So at some point, I'll get another. I just want to find a good deal on one when I do.
"they tend to multiply like rabbits" HAHA INSTANT LIKE

I regularly look at Vostok but get swamped by the number of models but I'll get one eventually I'm sure. I like the quirky nature of this one. Thanks.

I've seen a few other 24 hour models, but usually they are on a komandirskie not an amohibia. Always on the look out for more
I'm glad to see a review of these!
Nice review and really a nice looking watch.
Fabulous content as always. Hoping this one will go back in stock, but not holding my breath...
I'm really starting to have a thing for white dials👌🏽 Great review bro!
Vostok do have a hacking function . You just need to apply a slight amount of back pressure on the crown when changing the time ....
I've always been attracted to fully lumed dials, but find them hard to read unless the hands are black non-lumed. Nice job
I bought a 24 hour Komandirski 650546 that has 200 meters rating, and it was 89 with a extra mesh band I ordered with it including shipping from Meramon . Much cheaper getting directly. I have time to wait. These are fun watches to own in my opinion.
Supposedly shipping times are a little longer now, but hopefully you get it soon.
@@RelativeTime I ordered it yesterday and it shipped today. I got a tracking number already a d said 3-4 weeks. I love this sight. I ordered a mesh band. I think next time I order, I will get a few more straps and I see they had some cheap clearance watches.
Forgot to say....would be useful to have an accuracy report also.

It’s a Vostok. It’s dead on.
Love your informative video's.
Cool piece 💪🏾
I'm not a Vostok fan normally, but I really like the look of this one.
I need to follow your advice of getting a more affordable diver just for beating and vacation use. I'm currently on vacation in Clear Water Florida and just wouldn't risk bringing my new Nodus just to swim in.
Orient or Casio.
@@mikewysko2268 a microbrand, the Nodus Contrail.
Thanks!
So far I haven’t found one. I know their are a few on Meranom, but haven’t looked too much to see if they have an all black one.
@@RelativeTime They are the AK47 of mechanical divers watches. The specs of mine are 1-20 mins with 5 mins elsewhere lumed ceramic bezel insert attached into a submariner style bezel, B signed crown, Favinov lume modded 379 dial with Favinov Arrow hour hand, stick minute hand and red second hand. Upgraded springbars, CWC Nato grey Nato strapand 710 case brushed all over
Howdy great vid ! Ingenious design ,I own many ! Cheers👍
i'm dying to buy this watch...can you sell to me...? seriously..if you are not wearing this watch anymore...please reply me
Still have it, and no interest in selling.
Have a nice day!
i have 3 vostoks and i love them. I just bought one more, a Neptune. It will be here within a week :)
Almost all Amphibia cases use 18mm straps. A few use 22, but mostly they are 18.
Never owned one...liked this piece that’s for sure
This is the first Vostok I’d actually buy.
pretty cool looking Vostok
So if i'm not mistaken midday would be down at the 6 o clock position?
If so that would confuse the heck out of me lol
On this one it is. Although I've seen some 24 hour dials that have it at the top.
You should review the Raketa Amphibia.
The Crystal of the Vostok it's very special so as the back case, Vostok amphibia is in a class on is on, this watch if it was made in Switzerland it would have a totally different price, in other words, this watch is a master piece
It's been 4 months but they never come back in stock now do they. A limited edition of a Seiko is easier to get.
It really is. I'm still not sure if Vostok SE models are truly limited editions, or if they only make them sporadically.
I also have a Vostok Amphibia Scuba Dude in a 420 case with no date. I like the cleaner look but I haven't been able to back hack it which drives me crazy. I know that the date version you can back hack. Have you tried to back hack this Vostok?
This watch with a 24hr bezel really would be awesome.
It's got a cool look.
You should do a review on the bulova 96b230, a high frequency quartz watch. Wouldn't know its a quartz unless someone told you. Really affordable too.
I’ve got my eye on a few bulovas, and one coming at some point soon.
Changing the case to a 710 would be an instant buy.
I did exactly that. It's a beast.
Could be a conversation starter.
Nice review! How thick is the case without the domed crystal?
Could you maybe review some of the Vostok Europe watches like the ekranoplan
At some point. I wound up getting one a while ago as I was curious. Well made, but the one I got was a little beat up. So I never bothered filming it.
So at some point, I'll get another. I just want to find a good deal on one when I do.
