I bought the camera and it is exceptional especially when combined with the new lenses such as F2 Fuji and f1.4 sigma lenses. The sensor is very sharp and the high resolution video is excellent. I was truly amazed.from the image quality who says that the apsc sensor sucks and that the full frame is better I don't know which cameras he used but I don't see much of a difference. especially the color profiles with JPEG files I really like reala ace high ISO performance is excellent for apsc sensor 3200 without problems also thanks to Adobe's intelligent noise reduction. and also the autofocus works very well we are not at Sony levels but for 99% of the photos I take it's also exaggerated. In continuous autofocus it tracks the eye very well. I made a comparison with my friend's xt4 and it seems to me that the machine is more responsive even on the display, it means that the processor is much more powerful. I can understand the lack of the stabilized sensor or viewfinder for those two functions it is possible to buy the xs20 but then the body becomes bigger. and basically you have the same sensor the same processor the camera is exactly the same but slightly bigger and with more battery
the diff between FF and APSC is quite sizable in low light or when you MUST keep your ISO up. I shoot a lot of videos when I'm forced to use ISO 51200. It's still aceptable on a recent FF sensor (like that of the S5 II) but is uselessly noisy on anything smaller.
I hate crop sensors because I mainly use vintage Minolta gear and glass. Adapting that to a crop sensor is silly. My wide angle turns into a 56mm, a nifty fifty into a portrait 75 etc.
While obviously aimed at vloggers, it can also double-up as a point and shoot for stills. Slap a pancake lens on it and you've got yourself an X100VI alternative that is actually even smaller than the X100. And you still have access to everything on the X mount. At a much lower price. Hard to argue with, really.
@@voorachter2733why are they different? They are both relatively small and light and cater to the enthusiast audience. If the XM5 had IBIS it would have been a winner. It might even have cannibalised sales from the XS-20. The XM5 is designed for the vlogging market which means it will be most likely used with small light wide lenses like the 16F2.8. This lens does mot have optical stabilization and hence if the camera had IBIS it would help.
the placement of the Q menu button is a huge red flag for me. the fact they didn't just put it in a similar spot to the x100v blows my mind. it needs to be nearby the joystick, so that you can easily activate the Q menu, and use the stick to move around... not even going to consider buying this personally. the sony zve-10 ii is just way better in every way. sad this camera may fail like the original x-m1. i love my x100v, but man this was not the play lol.
If you still have it with you, could you check if the manual focus assistance has a bug? I have noticed that unlike my X-T5 and X-H2s, the X-Me does not zoom back out when you half-press the shutter button. On both other two cameras (I think even the GFX50II) focus assistance zooms in once you manually focus and then zooms back to the normal view when you half press. I tried replicating the menu settings from the X-H2s to the X-M5 but it will not zoom back out of the focus assistance. It is very annoying to have to make a shot or push another button to reset the view. Has anybody experienced this, but most important, is there a setting to fix that? Lens used was the 23mm f1.4 WR and the 90mm f2.0. Both Fujinon. Thanks

@@todanrg3 I don't even think if you take a camera from 2018 and put it next to some models from 2024 there is any difference in IQ. All advancements nowadays are for video, autofocus and other features.
The review is nice but a little disappointing. I was hoping the AF will be tested a bit more as that is the weak point of Fuji. Is it reliable enough for shooting a long interview? Can it follow a face accurately and without hunting? How is the eye/face AF accuracy in stills? These are the areas where cameras like the X-T5 and X-H2 struggle. Image quality is pretty much the same on all APS-C cameras these days.

Pretty ugly compression "pumping" (upon encountering the keyframes) every second in the zoomed-in 6K samples. What's the bitrate? On the Lumix S5 II, if you zoom in into even 400%, there's no such ugly "keyframe pumping" at 200 Mbps even when shooting 6K Open Gate.
i bought one, poor autofocus, noisy lenses. I got it for photos and that is fine but having a load of video features without good autofocus is like owning a Porsche with a loose steering wheel..

My experience of them is Sony and Canon have autofocus at the level where you can forget about it and just take photos or video. Given you spend a fortune on these cameras and lenses having a video clip ruined by out of focus hunting just makes you question why you didn't buy a Sony or Canon. The Sony AI autofocus tech in the A7RV, ZVE1 and A6700 isn't just hype, it's game changing for video. I bought the XM5 for size and photos I knew the video autofocus would be rubbish and it is IMO.
it's the same sensor as the xt3 xt4 only they increased the reading speed like on the xs20 the sensor is fantastic for being an apsc - you don't know what you're talking about you've never photographed with it of machines like this if you don't realize I come from the Nikon d750 and I tell you that this sensor is incredible for being so small

It may be for hikers like myself who want something more than than my Samsung 23 Ultra to take photos with in bad weather, on mountains, in snow and rain but don't want to lose too much if we drop or fall with our equipment in the mud. Question is: How will it hold up? Apparently, it has no IP rating. I am imagining a few pancake lenses in a waterproof separate camera bag won't add too much more weight or cost. I just can't imagine carrying $5K (or more) of equipment in my daypack...

Talk about a clickbaity title, when every other review said its basically crap with no EVF and no IBIS in a price point against other cameras that do not have IBIS but have an EVF - oh yeah thats a brilliant camera. Notice how Christopher never made the disclaimer he's supposed by law and by TH-cams rules at the beginning of the video. Barely a grip, but a shiny polyester leather look "leatherette" which will allow you to easily drop the X-M5 with the smallest amount of sweat/moisture on your hands and fingers - yeah thats just brilliant! I've been down that road before and I've never dropped a camera except until I owned a Fuji, those suckers are small, slippery and easily dropped. Made the rear element come loose on my lens too, and had to get it replaced. But the X-M5 comes after the original X-M1 10 years ago, and no X-M2, and no X-M3, and no X-M4..........it should be an X-M2 badge. Ridiculous from Fuji. Its videos like these contributing to the "Fujifilm Hype" and its not worthy of such high praise. Basically Panasonic made a clone of this in blue some months ago (But it has Pana's excellent IBIS), and every reviewer took a massive dump on it for not having an EVF. Stop praising Fuji. Its not a retro camera, its a fully electronic camera and not retro with zero mechanical coupling except for the lens mount.

For photography, largely the same, you'll be choosing a lens mount rather than something camera specific.
For video, XM5 is superior
