Let's just say that the court case goes very, very badly for the puncher, because the judge awards OP an $80,000 judgment! Not only does OP bankrupt this douchebag, the court case also gets the guy fired from his job! Oops!

The Karen in the landlord story screwed up. In a time of mourning it's wise not to provoke the person grieving. Sometimes people in grief need time to allow them to mourn their loss. This woman is the textbook example of someone who deserves karma biting the way it is. Why should she comment and ridicule someone in grief just to sound justified in a situation or to bully someone? Glad they got what was coming to them. Moral of the story: NEVER ridicule someone regardless of what they are going through. You may just find yourself worse off down the line.

The soldier lost more than his job. He was, most likely, dishonorably discharged from the military, which has a whole bunch of negatives for a person transitioning back to civilian life. He won't be able to claim ANY VA benefits, some of which are very helpful, like low interest home loans. He will have a hard time getting more than an entry level job and will have a hard time ever getting promoted out of said job. Even if he didn't ruin his credit paying the guy back, he would have a hard time getting a new line of credit. If he was injured while in the service, he would not be able to collect disability from the VA, and he would be given the bare minimum of aid from a VA hospital for his service related injuries.
I'm sure the VA would fight even giving him that much. Proving an injury after you are cashiered out is tough with an Honorable Discharge.

That last story is a good reminder to keep cool when your angry. Because that unchecked anger will inevitably lead to something far worse..
Here's the thing...this soldier in the last story not only lost everything, but he would have been handed a dishonorable discharge, which remains on your record forever. Once he returned to the states it's unlikely he would have been able to find any kind of good job because employers do not like seeing a dishonorable on your record. Likewise trying to get into any kind of educational institution. His temper totally screwed up his life.
Holy crap I think I know that soldier in that last story. If it's the same person, he was super awful civilian side too. Just a grade A piece of work, tossed around his old rank like that meant something to me, threatened my life.
That kind is all over.
If he threatened your life, I'd report the person to the police and make darn sure he was locked up for ages.

Good on them for ruining their own lives by insulting a cancer victim's death.
Second post: $80.000 in legal fines, 90 days in jail, losing his military career and his wife - all because he had a major attitude problem and tried using his military service as a front to act like a bully and punch someone over a fender bender, instead of settling for $500 in cash for repairs. Acting like a tough guy doesn't make you the bigger person; it only shows that you let your ego be in control of your emotions.
Oh and complete denial of VA benefits and compensation for life.
My great grandpa Piwi was given a dishonorable discharge for a “forged name” or something like that. The thing is, he was adopted and he didn’t know that until he got to the military. His grandmother didn’t want him in the military and told them that his last name was fake. Turns out his real name was Piwi Charlie Daniels. (Piwi is just what we call him). So now he’s found out he’s adopted, been given a dishonorable discharge, and now has a reason to be mad at his grandma. ._. Poor Piwi

Not all soldiers or members of the US military are like that. A lot of them would have gone with the $300 or just said, "Nah, it's cool." You can't touch me! The military has my back!
*Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The military does NOT have his back
On my way home from work one day, I accidentally rear-ended another vehicle. Damage from that impact was very minor to both, so it shouldn't have been a big deal.
However, they decided to try and force me to pay several thousands worth of damage. Here's the thing: I was driving a van with a flat front, yet the damage they wanted me to cover, while in the same spot as where I had hit them, was caved in as if someone had backed up into a round protrusion. Oh, and I was travelling at about 20km/h at most, probably less. Just because I may have caused some very slight damage to your car does not mean you can try and make me pay for pre-existing damage that was obviously not caused by me.
A few weeks later, I was driving by their house and noticed that they'd replaced that car with a completely new one.
How people try to screw others over when they're so exposed to being screwed over 100 times worse themselves is beyond me.
So years and year ago when I was in my early 20s and a regional officer of a club that had international reach. One of our members had been being exceedingly hostile or other members so I banned him from events for six months. He then started sending me threats that he was going to drive to the city I was in (he was a state over) and beat the crap out of me. (Important to note that I was at the time a 22y/o woman who stands 5'5" and weighed 170lbs. He on the other hand was late 20s, stood 6'1" and weighed 220lbs mostly muscle.) His problem was that he didn't know my very protective father was very high ranking in the same branch of the military as him and worked in assignments. While they weren't in the same career field, my dad had access to all his files and when I told my dad about the threat I suddenly hear keyboard clicks (we lived in different cities) and then him muttering about the guy's record. Apparently the dude had made some agreement that he would go to Alaska for 2 years and then get stationed in Nevada, the problem was there was a little note that was nearly buried about him having gambling problems. Dad highlighted that note, put me on hold. I'm guessing he went to have a chat with the appropriate assignments guy, because when he came back, Dad told me that the guy was going to do his 2 years in Alaska and then get to go have fun in North Dakota.
To add to the fun, I let another club officer who was higher than me know. This officer was also the same branch of the military, except he was in intelligence. He had the guy's phone number and called him with information that made this poor schmuck think military intelligence was investigating him.
Never heard from the guy again.
I would have laughed my ass of if the the OP who got punched was a much higher ranking officer than Punch-Man xD Imagine the hell OP would have made Punch-Man go through xD
