Trezor T doesn't support offline signing of PSBT files via the MicroSD slot. The only real advantage of the T is the touchscreen, which I personally don't like anyway... There are a few ways that it can boost security. 1) Protecting backups - Even if someone finds your seed backup, they also need to know (or to be able to guess or brute-force) the passphrase to be able to access the funds. 2) Adds additional entropy, particularly useful for hardware wallets where seed generation happens in a closed source process.

As far as I understand, the secure element here is keeping the “salt” that is mixed with PIN code to decrypt the contents of the chip. Similar result can be achieved with SD Card protection enabled on Trezor T (obviously if SD card is securely stored separately from the device) where that “salt” is stored on the SD card instead of a secure element. Is my understanding correct? Can you confirm that? Or am I misunderstanding something here? Thank you.

@@CryptoGuidePretty unfortunate that Trezor didn’t just make a model-T with secure element instead of the annoying buttons on trezor one. The touch screen saves so much time.
Trezor suite only supports the ones listed. For things like ERC20 tokens, you just send it to your Eth address. For things like Montero, you need to use additional software with your Trezor instead of just Trezor suite.
It's a great option. Both devices use a very simple, fixed function SE, within a larger stack of Open Source software. (Which has deterministic builds)
Yea, it's certainly an advanced feature, though the updated SLIP39 multi-share backup can now give you the same later of protection for backups without the complexity of a passphrase.
Hi! My Trezor safe 3 arrived today. However, the thing is that I have an iphone 13 and the cable that came with the Trezor has USB C on both sides. Am I right in thinking that I need a converter?
Hello, I am disturbing you again to ask a few questions. Have Nano Ledger S devices ever used BIP32 technology in 2018? If they used it, is it possible to find a derivation path with the address? Does BTCrecover pay attention to the derivation path or BIP32 when analyzing and scanning?
Ledger devices have always used standard BIP39/44 derivation. BTCRecover checks all default derivation paths that Ledger used for BTC and Eth by default.
The first thing I will say is that both are great devices and depending in where you live, there may be a significant difference in terms of price and availability... That said, it will come down to how you want to use it... Basically if you are someone who wants to run it with an iPhone, do Multisig or run Statelessly, then Jade will be your best bet. (Jade also still lets you use it as a TOTP authenticator) If you are someone who is happy to use a PC/Android and would prefer to have a fully standalone device that doesn't need something like a pin-server, (So can be used with a PC/phone to sign transactions without an internet connection) then the Trezor Safe 3 is likely a better bet. (Or if you just like Trezor Suite more) The Safe3 can still do multisig, but doesn't actually save the multisig wallet to the device in the same way that a Jade does.
Doesn't connecting this to the internet for the suite download and firmware download defeat the entire purpose? What is to stop a virus on a computer or keylogger or a virus on the suite from stealing the seed phrase and pin, etc?
now I have both Ledger and Trezor. Is it okay if I install Ledger Live and Trezor Suite programs on the same computer? Will there be any conflict or errors?
They coexist just fine on the same PC, you can even have both Ledger and Trezor devices connected and in use with their respective software at the same time. (So can send from Ledger to Trezor, with the same PC)
@@CryptoGuide Thanks just one more question if i choose the passphrase option that means even if my 12 words compromised they will always need the 13 word to transfert the funds right ?
If you enable a BIP39 passphrase then it's functionality part of your seed, so you need to enter it to be able to access the funds whether someone has the seed words or the Trezor+PIN
I cannot load the firmware onto the two new trezor 3's i recently purchased. Will only load to 90% and then error says "device detected in incorrect state". Support said try factory reset but Menu will not load. Have also changed out connection cord but no change. Help greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to go back to universal firmware (all coins) from bitcoin only firmware on Trezor safe 3? I am having difficulty to do that, or I don't know how to do that. Thank you brother.
@@CryptoGuide Hi, what really worked, was holding both buttons when plugging into pc, that turned on boatload menu and let me do a factory reset and on it, it was a universal version, it worked like peanut, found it on your comments :( Thank you
Sir so this trezor safe 3 has new hardware security chip, which was absent on previous trezor devices , right? And this device is the same as safe 5 in terms of security?
That's right, both the Safe3 and Safe5 have an Optiga Trust M secure element. The Safe5 also has a newer MCU with some additional features, but ultimately the security should be about the same due to the Optiga SE.
@@CryptoGuide great thanks very very much. One more little question if i dare to ask.... can i create evm wllet on safe 3 with 24 words recovery phrases? Or 12 is max
Basically one thing that can mess it up is that when you plug in in, Android can prompt whether another app will handle the device, if you say yes, then it won't be available to the browser.
It's actually simpler to have it all happen on-device in terms of both security and drivers. The thing that you will notice with the Trezor T and the Safe 3 is that your PC doesn't even detect it at all until *after* you have entered the correct PIN. It's also far simpler for developers not to add Trezor support to their wallet/app if they don't also have to worry about implementing the UI for pin entry.
It would certainly be very do-able, as you could re-use much of the code for the Trezor One, but not something I have the time to give to right now. :)
I did already think of that and it would actually be very possible, it would just require a bit more work on the Trezor side in terms of how the emulator store the wallet data.
Great review! Like the one I think we can setup it without connecting to any trezor server ? (Firmware upload with cmdline tool and electrum to load the seed)
Are you suggesting people use a passphrase for extra security ? I know everyone's situation is different but it seems that if you use a passphrase and keep that passphrase in a separate secure location while memorizing it, that it would provide extra security.
I really need some advice I’ve had a ledger for the last 6 years but want to change it because of the updates. I’m stuck between a few wallets if I could have your opinion please would be much appreciated: Trezor safe 3 Cypherrock Tangem Ngrave Cold card I’m looking to buy two
The Trezor Safe 3 is the closest type of device o what you currently have in the Ledger. Tangem is a blind signer, so is only really suitable for smaller amounts. (Especially if you use it in seed mode which makes the seed hot) Ngrave is massively overpriced for what it is. Cypherrock has a unique backup system which is qutie clever and ColdCard is only really suitable for advanced users. Honestly it will mainly come down to what you are looking to store and what device you intend to use to interface with it. (So PC, phone, etc)
@@CryptoGuide 100% agree with the ngrave as much as I think it’s technically very far ahead it’s still too much for what it is. But I have 60% BTC with some alts like Ada COTI xrp and obviously ETH. I do use my mac but as I’m out and about my phone is always with me
I have a sincere question. I am concerned about the security difference of a 12 vs 24 word seed phrase. Is a 12 word seed phrase enough, or is it greatly more secure to use a 24 word seed phrase? I can see a programmer cracking a 12 word phrase via brute force much easier than a 24 word phrase just by iterating all possible combinations. This does concern me, should I use a 24 word phrase as a result of this concern?
The difference between 12 and 24 isn't really one of security, but rather one of safety. A 24 word seed has a much stronger checksum than a 12 word seed. (So is far more likely to key you know if you have a typo in your seed)
@@CryptoGuide Thank you for responding, now in terms of a computer program that is trying to guess random seed phrases, wouldn't the 24 word seed phrase safeguard against this exponentially more so than the 12 word seed phrase? That's my biggest concern is people just running programs to guess random seed phrases until they crack one which can be ours.
24 is exponentially more secure that 12 words (that's an understatement) but if you are worried about someone brute forcing all 12 words, just download BTCRecover and play around with deleting words from a test seed... You will soon appreciate that 12 is enough on that front. ;)
@@CryptoGuide Thank you I appreciate your time in responding and helping strengthen my understanding. I have a further question, would you highly recommend adding a passphrase for additional security? For example, would my worry of brute force be eliminated if I implement a strong pass phrase (perhaps using a short/long dice word list combo of 5+ words)
Firstly, I don't know why anyone would buy the dcent instead of a Ledger. Secondly, if the Trezor supports the coins you want and you don't want Bluetooth or to use it with an iPhone, the Safe3 is a great option.
Hey Crypto Guide, by any chance do you have any videos on how to use the trezorctl command interface? I would like to learn how to initialize a device with a 24 word seed versus a 12 word seed. Thank you!
@@CryptoGuide Thank you for responding. Does using Electrum expose your seeds at all, I guess I'm really asking how safe would you consider Electrum (third party client)?
@@CryptoGuide Thank you for responding, what's your thoughts on trusting the servers that run with the Electrum clients? For example, would you use a VPN, or rather, would you simply run your own server in conjunction to running the client?
Ultimately it depends on who you want to try and be private from. One of the challenges with hardware wallets is if you do stuff like buy it through a vendors webstore, use it with their software, etc, they have a lot more information about you than just an IP address. (Never mind that for closed source hardware wallets, closed source vendor supplied software may also have the ability to make use of "undocumented features" in the closed hardware...) Running your own server is certainly a great way to boost your privacy and also give you confidence that the balance you are seeing is correct :)
The RNG process on Trezor is fine. My main issue with 12 word seeds is a poor checksum, made worse by the Trezor not confirming all 12 words at setup. Basically you just need to do a full recovery check, then you will be good to go :)
Really helpful demo @cryptoguide, thanks! About the "check backup," is this step solely to ensure that you've properly recorded your seed phrase, or is there any aspect of this step that helps protect against outside tampering or attack? In other words, is it simply to protect yourself from yourself?

I can't even identify which word page is correct and I have too many words. What path do you think I should follow? Can I make it somehow?
If you still have all of the lists of seeds and he main transactions on major chains (BTC/Eth) then it should be straightforward to identify the right one and recover the funds.

Coinjoin can be a useful tool that can make it difficult for chainalysis folks, though there are a few different schools of thought as to how it should best be done. The main takeway is that it isn't a silver bullet for privacy and if you use it, you will need to maintain ongoing discipline with how you manage your UTXOs to preserve the privacy that was gained through some coinjoins.
Almost all vendors are very slow over their normal support channels when the market is pumping like it has for the last few weeks. They are quite responsive on their forums and Reddit.
It depends on when you set the Ledger up as it didn't always verify the seed prior to around 2018/2019. Just follow the video on basic seed recovery and it will likey find it in a few seconds.
Thanks. Yes it's obviously unsafe to share your seed phrase. All of the seeds that I use in public videos are just for testing and have all funds removed before the video is published. (And are never used to store actual funds)
A few folk have asked for it. It certainly looks like a solid option, particularly given that it is a stamped option which still uses the normal BIP39 words (As opposed to numbers) That said, $100 USD for something that is limited to a single 12 word seed is a bit steep.
Basically just my video on basic seed recovery with BTCRecover. If you have an address associated with the seed from a coin/chain that BTCRecover supports, it will find a single missing word in a couple of minutes.
No, that's not what I was demonstrating. Basically the Trezor can be used as a hardware 2FA token in the same was that you would use a Yubikey. (Not with a Yubikey)
@@CryptoGuide ah same as ledger, not very usefull due to safety of tokens, at least for me. would be great if it worked with a yubikey for extra security.
That's right, it's similar to what Ledger offers. A Yubikey doesn't add any security to a hardware wallet on its own. If you want that kind of thing you could use something like Blockstream green multisig vault.

@@CryptoGuide That's mean first i have to convert shiba to ETH and then send to ETH in to the Trezor safe 3. Right In the Trezor (ETH convert to Shiba ? )
To be honest that is always risky no matter what wallet. If you want to connect a wallet make sure its a different wallet with just a little bit of funds and not your full stash
Third party wallets are actually not the issue here, but rather browser based ones generally and blind signing specifically. (If you weren't blind signing then you could still catch the tampered transaction)
Hi grateful for the video followed all the steps. But I'm stuck on using it on Exodus could you please do a video showing us how to use it on Exodus please 🙏
Do you trust trezor with your own coins? Personally, i find putting your coins into a wallet where you don't have full control of the manufacturing process for is reckless but maybe i am misguided? Like why own a safe 3 when you can just own a seedsigner that you make yourself? With the safe 3 you can never be sure that the device isn't somehow uploading your keys over Wi-Fi or something. And honestly even running the device on anything other than stateless mode seems like a terrible mistake to me. Wbat are your thoughts on my questions above?
Well to start off the answer is yes. The main thing that the Safe 3 gives you is physical security, for which the Seedsigner has zero. (The safe 3 much moreso than previous Trezor devices too) It's also FOSS with deterministic builds, so while the Safe3 in particular is harder to DIY than the Trezor One, it's still very trustless. (And stateless operation creates as many problems as it solves, if not more) For most people, a retail device like this is going to be safer overall than something DIY like Jade, Seedsigner, Krux or Satochip. That said, there is a reason why I make a lot of content about how to do DIY options, as I do think it forms an important part of the self custody ecosystem.
Great video thank you. This is all great for us crypto freaks but all of these devices are in a primitive state from a user interface perspective. For mass adoption of cold storage self custody, it needs to be boom, boom, boom and you are done. The unwashed masses are going to leave their crypto in hot wallets to avoid all the fuss. Once again not a critique of your great content. Keep up the good work.
You aren't wrong, this is basically the same UX as the Ledger Nano S from 2017. Unfortunately all of the really simple options that exist today cut too many corners to be useful. We are still miles ahead of where we were years ago, but plenty of room to go yet...
I'm not actually convinced that a passphrase provides real protection in that instance and that something that bricks the physical wallet is a better approach. (Or better yet, having a setup so that you can't actually make a transaction like that without visiting a second location or at least somewhere that isn't your home...)
@CryptoGuide but a passphrase could protect someone even if his 24 word seed got into someone's hands. He won't be able to know that there is a hidden wallet, especially if the 24 word wallet is empty. Right?
It depends, as folk will often have their wallet data saved (even if watch only) on their desktop or phone. (Or may have shared information that means that the person knows roughly how much they are looking for...)
Thank you for always spending your time to provide value for free to us ungrateful individuals
No worries, it's always good to have these devices in-hand and to cover the details that are often glossed over in the marketing :)

Depends on your preferences I guess :)
Thanks for the video. How you add another coins ? because there were only few you could add as I understand
Trezor suite only supports the ones listed. For things like ERC20 tokens, you just send it to your Eth address. For things like Montero, you need to use additional software with your Trezor instead of just Trezor suite.
Does the Trezor S3 show BTC legacy account and the Segwit account?
Yep
What do you think about Foundation Passport? Can you trust the secure element?
It's a great option. Both devices use a very simple, fixed function SE, within a larger stack of Open Source software. (Which has deterministic builds)
Did a video about the passport here: th-cam.com/video/n9EPXCJWTB0/w-d-xo.html
Entering a long, secure BIP39 passphrase looks like it would be very painful compared to the Model "T". No?
It's really not that bad, it's basically the same as the Ledger Nano devices have been doing it for years.
Great video, very quick and informative, personally I think passphrase is overkill to me, but is a great idea
Yea, it's certainly an advanced feature, though the updated SLIP39 multi-share backup can now give you the same later of protection for backups without the complexity of a passphrase.
the secure element in safe3 model is open-source ?
No, but it's a commodity part, so Trezor can use it without being under NDA.
Hi!
My Trezor safe 3 arrived today. However, the thing is that I have an iphone 13 and the cable that came with the Trezor has USB C on both sides.
Am I right in thinking that I need a converter?
Trezor devices (or any hardware wallet connecting via USB) isn't supported on iPhone or iPad.
@@CryptoGuide ok thx
Best of luck
Hello, I am disturbing you again to ask a few questions. Have Nano Ledger S devices ever used BIP32 technology in 2018? If they used it, is it possible to find a derivation path with the address?
Does BTCrecover pay attention to the derivation path or BIP32 when analyzing and scanning?
Ledger devices have always used standard BIP39/44 derivation. BTCRecover checks all default derivation paths that Ledger used for BTC and Eth by default.
if youre btc only would you use this(trezor 3 w/btc only firmware), or blockstream jade? thanks.
(Jade also still lets you use it as a TOTP authenticator)
If you are someone who is happy to use a PC/Android and would prefer to have a fully standalone device that doesn't need something like a pin-server, (So can be used with a PC/phone to sign transactions without an internet connection) then the Trezor Safe 3 is likely a better bet. (Or if you just like Trezor Suite more) The Safe3 can still do multisig, but doesn't actually save the multisig wallet to the device in the same way that a Jade does.
most of desktops doesnt have USB-C port how to link it with my PC ??
Any usbc to normal usb cable or adapter will work fine
Doesn't connecting this to the internet for the suite download and firmware download defeat the entire purpose? What is to stop a virus on a computer or keylogger or a virus on the suite from stealing the seed phrase and pin, etc?
No. The process private keys remain on the Trezor itself and it also shows so transactions on its own screen for confirmation before signing then.
@@CryptoGuide , thanks!
No worries
now I have both Ledger and Trezor.
I cannot load the firmware onto the
two new trezor 3's i recently purchased. Will only load to 90% and then error says "device detected in incorrect state".
Support said try factory reset but Menu will not load. Have also changed out connection cord but no change. Help greatly appreciated.
That's odd, have you tried on a different PC/phone?
Is it possible to go back to universal firmware (all coins) from bitcoin only firmware on Trezor safe 3? I am having difficulty to do that, or I don't know how to do that. Thank you brother.
Yes you can move freely between the universal and Bitcoin firmware with the Trezor devices. You just need to go into settings -> device -> firmware
@@CryptoGuide Hi, what really worked, was holding both buttons when plugging into pc, that turned on boatload menu and let me do a factory reset and on it, it was a universal version, it worked like peanut, found it on your comments :( Thank you
Good job getting it sorted
Sir so this trezor safe 3 has new hardware security chip, which was absent on previous trezor devices , right?
And this device is the same as safe 5 in terms of security?
That's right, both the Safe3 and Safe5 have an Optiga Trust M secure element. The Safe5 also has a newer MCU with some additional features, but ultimately the security should be about the same due to the Optiga SE.
@@CryptoGuide great thanks very very much. One more little question if i dare to ask.... can i create evm wllet on safe 3 with 24 words recovery phrases? Or 12 is max
Both allow 24 now though Trezor suite
@@CryptoGuide thanks very much! You are the best
No worries
Hi, do you initially need to set up trezor using a laptop?
I just got my trezor and been trying to set up via my android but my trezor won't connect.
I just checked and you can install the firmware over android no problem. Which browser are you using?
@CryptoGuide hi thanks for checking much appreciated. I use Google chrome browser.
Basically one thing that can mess it up is that when you plug in in, Android can prompt whether another app will handle the device, if you say yes, then it won't be available to the browser.
nice overview - thanks! Wonder why they got rid of pin entry by clicking on dots on the pc. That's a very convenient feature.
It's actually simpler to have it all happen on-device in terms of both security and drivers. The thing that you will notice with the Trezor T and the Safe 3 is that your PC doesn't even detect it at all until *after* you have entered the correct PIN. It's also far simpler for developers not to add Trezor support to their wallet/app if they don't also have to worry about implementing the UI for pin entry.
what do they have now?
The Safe 3 does it all on device now, it's basically the same UX as with a Ledger Nano
Does trezorctl still work with the S3 e.g. do a seed check?@@CryptoGuide
TrezorCTL works just the same as with other devices :)
Do you think it is easy to port it to pitrezor?
It would certainly be very do-able, as you could re-use much of the code for the Trezor One, but not something I have the time to give to right now. :)
Imagine now pitrezor and satochip/java card for the secure element part of the safe3 :-) just kidding...
Yes you can :)
Could you show us how it works?
As in how to do it? (Set it up from scratch on a totally offline system)
Are you suggesting people use a passphrase for extra security ? I know everyone's situation is different but it seems that if you use a passphrase and keep that passphrase in a separate secure location while memorizing it, that it would provide extra security.
A passphrase can add a layer of security to your backups, but also adds extra complexity, so needs to be included in your backups too.
I enjoyed this comprehensive review.
Thanks, glad it helped
I really need some advice I’ve had a ledger for the last 6 years but want to change it because of the updates. I’m stuck between a few wallets if I could have your opinion please would be much appreciated:
Trezor safe 3
Cypherrock
Tangem
Ngrave
Cold card
I’m looking to buy two
The Trezor Safe 3 is the closest type of device o what you currently have in the Ledger.
I do use my mac but as I’m out and about my phone is always with me
@@CryptoGuide also I think I come down to three. The trezor, cypherock and BC Vault
I don't actually think ngrave is far ahead at all, just overpriced but very basic. Bcvault doesn't follow standards either...
@@CryptoGuide so would you say Trezor and cypherock would be the best for myself
Adding a passphrase is mostly about adding an extra layer of security to your backups, not making the seed itself more secure in a meaningful way.
Sir which one i buy d'ceant wallet or trezor safe 3 ? replay me
Firstly, I don't know why anyone would buy the dcent instead of a Ledger.
Thank you!
The simplest way is to just use Electrum, as it allows you to do the same thing
@@CryptoGuide Thank you for responding. Does using Electrum expose your seeds at all, I guess I'm really asking how safe would you consider Electrum (third party client)?
No it doesn't. Using a third party client can actually be better than using the vendor supplied one in terms of trust ;)
(Never mind that for closed source hardware wallets, closed source vendor supplied software may also have the ability to make use of "undocumented features" in the closed hardware...)
Running your own server is certainly a great way to boost your privacy and also give you confidence that the balance you are seeing is correct :)
Thanks 🙏 just subscribed
1. Is Trezor random number generator safe to use?
2. Is 12 word seed safe enough?
The RNG process on Trezor is fine. My main issue with 12 word seeds is a poor checksum, made worse by the Trezor not confirming all 12 words at setup.
Basically you just need to do a full recovery check, then you will be good to go :)
Really helpful demo @cryptoguide, thanks! About the "check backup," is this step solely to ensure that you've properly recorded your seed phrase, or is there any aspect of this step that helps protect against outside tampering or attack? In other words, is it simply to protect yourself from yourself?
Check backup is solely to protect yourself from yourself. (And is especially useful any time you make a copy of your seed)
They don’t have an option for 24 seed words?
You can but you will need to initialize it with either the TrezorCTL command line tool or with a wallet like Electrum
Hello, not sure how to contact you. I'm having an issue with my ColdCard MK4. I think the masterfinger print was changed and now I can't sign any transactions. I'm afraid to use the Replace button on sparrow cause I don't know what will happen. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks
The first thing you should do is make a backup of the Sparrow wallet, as this will make it easier for recovery later if need be.
Were you previously able to send funds with the wallet+Coldcard?
If you want paid private support, you can request it here cryptoguide.tips/recovery-services-consultations/
I can do the setup connected to internet or offline? it doesn't matter?
It doesn't matter, but if you want to do it offline, it will need to happen via TrezorCTL (with you pre-downloading the firmware file)
@@CryptoGuide good! thank you, make sense!
@@CryptoGuide Actually I do the firmware part online with the trezor suite, later go offline and do the rest (new wallet etc), it works. So I think all that part of create the new seed is direct on the device, not need internet.
That's right, initialisation with a seed happens completely offline :)
Hello, I watched almost all your videos. My lost hopes grew again. In short, my problem is this, unfortunately, my father forgot to delete his account registered in Live while resetting his Nano Ledger, so he sent his balance to the wrong account and address. This incident happened 5 years ago and I was still very young. I've been trying to open the wallet for 5 days but I couldn't succeed. I can't sleep at night. Unfortunately, as soon as he lost access to his account, he created different new words many times, leaving me in a very difficult situation. I can't even identify which word page is correct and I have too many words. What path do you think I should follow? Can I make it somehow?
If you still have all of the lists of seeds and he main transactions on major chains (BTC/Eth) then it should be straightforward to identify the right one and recover the funds.
@@CryptoGuide This is where the real trouble begins. I have word papers, but the situation has become complicated because so many people are involved in this. First, I checked them one by one using Ian Colemen, but I could not find the correct wallet address. After that, I tried again, thinking that the only password I had and that I didn't know was the BIP39 password, but it still didn't work. So I changed my approach and decided to use BTCrecover, hoping that a word or two was misspelled or misplaced. But even now the situation is hopeless. Tomorrow I will try your extra word video by putting all the words together, I don't want to give up.

My plan is as follows, while I am working on my computer, I will search for all the physical words I can reach, and if I fail and feel hopeless, I will take refuge in you. I'm grateful for your help.
Basically you should just use address databases for the coin/chain and see if you can either find the correct one or at least rule out some of them.
Hey! Trezor Safe 3 or Bitbox02? Honest pick would be cool! Let me know! (My idea is getting both, btc only and trezor for multicoin, but I'm curious your 2 cents!)
They are both basically the same, but the Trezor Safe 3 is much cheaper ;)
That said, if you are intending to do multisig, the Bitbox02 is superior, as it allows you to have the multisig wallet to the device itself. (Trezor doesn't support this)
@@CryptoGuide But you mentioned that somewhere below you don't use trezor due to security reason. and bitbox is way above on your list. :) Or Safe 3 is way better than the previous trezor?
Trezor 3 is a large improvement over all previous Trezor models as it has a secure element. (Just like the Bitbox02)
@@CryptoGuide Thanks. If you want, please delete this comment, just curious what do you think about coinjoin: th-cam.com/video/zp012aP0ZFA/w-d-xo.html
I pulled the trigger on bitbox02, but I really like the UI and physical buttons on trezor safe 3, but this video... WDYT?
Coinjoin can be a useful tool that can make it difficult for chainalysis folks, though there are a few different schools of thought as to how it should best be done. The main takeway is that it isn't a silver bullet for privacy and if you use it, you will need to maintain ongoing discipline with how you manage your UTXOs to preserve the privacy that was gained through some coinjoins.
Isn't it dodgy setting up your seed phrase while connected to the pc
No, this is exactly what hardware wallets are designed to allow you to do securely.
Does Tresor actually have a customer service telephone number? I have never seen it anywhere
No they don't
Ty. Do you have any personal experience with the responsiveness to however they handle customer communications?
Almost all vendors are very slow over their normal support channels when the market is pumping like it has for the last few weeks. They are quite responsive on their forums and Reddit.
Hello is it possible recover ledger if i have full seed but it not working?
It depends on what's wrong with your seed but it's generally a trivial recovery if it's just a typo or something.
@@CryptoGuideit must be trivial because its from leder so when i set it i need confirm on ledger if the seed is correc so what to do use btc recover?
It depends on when you set the Ledger up as it didn't always verify the seed prior to around 2018/2019.
Just follow the video on basic seed recovery and it will likey find it in a few seconds.
Great tutorial. Isnt it unsafe to be showing your seed phrases though? Arent they meant to be kept confidential?
Thanks. Yes it's obviously unsafe to share your seed phrase. All of the seeds that I use in public videos are just for testing and have all funds removed before the video is published. (And are never used to store actual funds)
Would you review Trezor Keep Metal?
A few folk have asked for it. It certainly looks like a solid option, particularly given that it is a stamped option which still uses the normal BIP39 words (As opposed to numbers)
That said, $100 USD for something that is limited to a single 12 word seed is a bit steep.
Hey i lost one Word of my 12 seed phrase! Is there a way to find it ?
No
Yes, a single missing word is a trivial recovery with BTCRecover.
Do you have af video on that ? And ty for fast replay 😀

does the trezor safe 3 work with a yubikey, using the yubikey nfc as a 2fa?

@@CryptoGuide ah same as ledger, not very usefull due to safety of tokens, at least for me. would be great if it worked with a yubikey for extra security.

A Yubikey doesn't add any security to a hardware wallet on its own. If you want that kind of thing you could use something like Blockstream green multisig vault.

There was a ledger issue with a hacker. Is it safe to connect a ledger with a 3rd party wallet? 🤔
To be honest that is always risky no matter what wallet. If you want to connect a wallet make sure its a different wallet with just a little bit of funds and not your full stash

Does Trezor safe 3 support USDT TRC20 ?
Safe 3 doesn't support Tron, so no TRC20
Hi grateful for the video followed all the steps. But I'm stuck on using it on Exodus could you please do a video showing us how to use it on Exodus please 🙏
Exodus is still working on Safe3 support.
(And stateless operation creates as many problems as it solves, if not more)
For most people, a retail device like this is going to be safer overall than something DIY like Jade, Seedsigner, Krux or Satochip.
That said, there is a reason why I make a lot of content about how to do DIY options, as I do think it forms an important part of the self custody ecosystem.
Can you make a video how to wipe your Tresor safe 3? Great video!
You just connect it with both buttons held down and that will put it into bootloader mode. From there you can select to do a factory reset.
Thanks bro
No worries

Trezor Safe 3 doesn't work with Exodus !!!
Yea the exodus team posted about this a few weeks back, should be fixed in their next update

Sir please help me i need your help i lost my metamask recovery phrase key
So do you have any of the words or a working backup of the wallet?
@@CryptoGuide no I don't that's why I need your help to recover metamask phrase key
If you don't have either of those then you have nothing and have caused an unrecoverable loss.
I'm sorry for your loss.
You should always use a passphrase, without a passphrase a $5 wranch attack and your funds are gone.
Even with passphrase, they will use the wrench till you are unconscious and gave 2nd passphrase, 3rd passphrase... And so on.
I'm not actually convinced that a passphrase provides real protection in that instance and that something that bricks the physical wallet is a better approach. (Or better yet, having a setup so that you can't actually make a transaction like that without visiting a second location or at least somewhere that isn't your home...)
Multi sig set up with different keys in different locations
@CryptoGuide but a passphrase could protect someone even if his 24 word seed got into someone's hands. He won't be able to know that there is a hidden wallet, especially if the 24 word wallet is empty. Right?
It depends, as folk will often have their wallet data saved (even if watch only) on their desktop or phone. (Or may have shared information that means that the person knows roughly how much they are looking for...)
