I’ve heard some good things about ZEP. Was going to try it on the outside of the roof this fall. For ours it set for a long time before we purchased it. So doing it all by hand gave us a chance to check for any small holes or little issues with the canvas and seams. Sure it took longer for me to do but that’s ok for me. Now that we have had it for a while it’s much easier to maintain. It is about do for another round of being sealed.
Don’t use these really harsh chemicals. I had a pop up tent trailer that periodically got mold spots on the tip outs. This is nearly impossible to avoid because you are bound to leave any campsite with some organic material on the canvas. Because your trailer is closed for travel and storage that organic material will begin to breakdown and cause mold. Canvas is very difficult to clean because it can be damaged by almost any cleaner except soap and water. That’s where the hydrogen peroxide comes in. Simply open up your trailer on a warm day or even at the campsite before you set up the beds etc. Mist straight hydrogen peroxide onto the canvas wherever you see dark mold. Don’t rub the canvas because you want to keep that material strong. Let the hydrogen peroxide dry and reapply as necessary until all those little mold spots are gone. This will not damage the fabric and will remove all the mold before you have a really big problem. I did this for over a decade on my tent trailer and never had a hole or weak fabric as a result. Just really white clean canvas. I hope this helps someone. I searched for years to find a safe product that works without damaging that canvas. Great video. Oh. I also use it straight on white baseball hats that get sweat stained. Does a great job.
Thanks for the advice I will give that a shot. I think our first camping trip is in the first week of May but if we get a warm weekend before then I’ll open it up and give it a try. 👍
I have always used a mixture of simply awesome water and soft scrub with bleach on the end caps and exterior metal only of my pop up camper using a scotch Brite pad. Do not let it run down or it will streak. Do it in smaller areas with a circle cleaning action. I use it on ALL the vinyl areas. If you get it on the screen or fabric, wipe it off with water or it leaves white spots that do go away.
That appears to be vinyl not canvas...I tried a combination of cleaner and half bleach and got the vinyl clean easily but much more stubborn on the insode which is canvas. Also, I lost the water proofing and the inside was damp, so have to water proof now. If you take a sponge with water and wipe it down it gets the remaining bleach off...the next day I couldnt smell anything but it was clean!
All the material minus the roof and screen on ours is canvas. Same here though as far as needing a good cleaning and resealed. Not leaking yet but it wouldn’t hurt after a good scrub down.
I really like that you're trying to help people by posting your video but if you do not rinse that cleaner out of the nylon seams and off of the vinyl it will make the fabric fall apart and basically write it from the chemicals in the cleaner. It's the same reason why you can't use harsh cleaners on boat seats because where the seats are sewn together at the strings will eventually rot and the seats will come apart at the seams the same goes for vinyl campers that are made out of the same stuff as boat seat and nylon strings and seams where they are sewn. It's not going to happen right away but if you don't rinse that crap out you're going to have everybody including yourself drenching nylon and vinyl down with what is basically just glorified bleach that's the reason why it works on mold and mildew so well and the next thing you know three to five years in that popping your camper up the threads just rip in the whole end of your camper is open. Just trying to help I'm on my third pop-up camper and I've owned for boat believe me you don't want the headache of this happening. If it rains on the pop up and it keeps the rain off of you when you're in it then you can hose it down
Thanks for the help. I appreciate all the advice I can get. I wiped it with a wet towel but what you are saying makes good since. I will be going back out camping in a couple of weeks and I'll set it before I go and give it a good washing like you are saying and reseal it. Thanks again.
I can honestly say I never thought about that. It might work as long as you are careful not to hang out in one spot to long. If you try it let me know how good it works.
I’ll give it a shot. I’ve only had it out camping a couple times this year with everything going on. Thanks for the advice I’ll set it up out back and try it out.
ken brilliant didn’t like the camera stuff when we first started doing it. Don’t mind it now. I think I might still have a bottle of it put up I’ll look for the manufacture name on it. It works pretty good. Didn’t notice the glare on the bottle when we posted it.
Just did ours with ZEP and a long handled soft bristele brush. Took me about 30 mins and looked great. You'll be there all day following this guy

We are getting ready to tackle the clean up on our new to us 98 Jayco. This was very helpful! Thank you for posting!
Dawn Woodruff your very welcome. It's all new to us as well.

Thanks for the inspiration, can't wait to try it....
Thanks for positive comment. Its not that bad as long as you have the time.

RC Hobbyist Extreme was there a strong odor of bleach afterwards? I try not to use bleach as much as possible it gives me really bad migraines.
That works great!
Lisa Rose thank you. I was really surprised my self.
Im going to try a steamer with peroxide because apparently you can heat it to 150 C
@@MrE1963t never thought about peroxide before. You think there is any chance of it discoloring the material ?

Is this camper canvas or vinyl. They're not the same thing.
The top is vinyl and sides are canvas.

what would you suggest to do to clean?
Has it fallen apart yet? 😂
Wondered if I could use steam cleaner on the top canvas? I got a pop up Jayco

Use deluted iron out on those rust stains and they will disappear.
I’ll give it a shot. I’ve only had it out camping a couple times this year with everything going on. Thanks for the advice I’ll set it up out back and try it out.
did it affect the waterproofing?
So far its been holding up really good. After I cleaned it up I sprayed on some water repellent.
the photo had a glare and barely could read the manufacturer and name. Don't be shy. tell us in your own words the full name of the product.

ken brilliant Camco I believe is the name of the product.
