You live in such a lovely place, dear Miranda. It must be wonderful to go outside and wander around in such a lovely garden. I always get up two hours before I have to leave the house because I don't want to be rushed anymore. I always take my time with everything and I always have time to read in the morning, the daily poem and also the book I'm currently reading. Then I hop on my bike and go to school and think that I'm in a much better state than if I had had to rush beforehand. My writing in my 5year diary I always do in the evening before bed. Thank you for the two videos this week. That was a lovely surprise. Enjoy your weekend!💗💗
Have a wonderful weekend too, Inga! I love the sound of your gentle start to your day too! ❤️🙏
I agree, I would rather be early than rush just to be on time. So less stressful.
'What is this life, IF we have no time to stand & stare?' as the poem Leisure states.
It can't be stated too many times, that if you haven't read a Miss Read book, please do! Winter in Thrush Green is a great place to start. Thank you, Miranda, for promoting my favorite author!❤
Yes, she’s a huge favourite of ours too, Karen! A wonderful writer! ❤️
I'd like to add a suggestion. Since I started writing, I found it helpful to keep a cleaning schedule. I divide up the rooms and over a period of three days, clean the whole house once a week. It's quick, easy, and frees up a lot of time for my projects while allowing me to enjoy a clean, cosy home.
It's always good to hear someone else's tips and techniques to achieve their goals. We all are trying our best, aren't we.
Hello Miranda really enjoyed your vlog. I am a morning person and like a routine. I get up at 4.45am get ready and drink a glass of water I then take Miss Edie Sedgwick my beloved Jack Russell out for a walk. When I return I have green tea, followed by oat milk coffee and overnight oats this sets me up for the day. I am not sleeping well at all at the moment as I have just lost my father and my heart is broken. Maybe I should start writing down how I am feeling to help with his loss. I am guilty of looking at my iPad before bed but trying to pick up a book again instead 💗
Thanks-love your tips for following a new routine especially about doing more in the mornings.
You're so welcome, Kathryn! I’m glad it was useful to you. Thank you for your kind support of my channel! I’m so grateful.❤️🙏
I would just like to say, how lovely your mum looked at the end of the video while eating your banana coffee cake. The shade of the blue jumper and the blue - grey pattern top looked amazing on your mum. Words can’t explain how beautiful she looked. Please pass the compliments to your mum. ❤
You have a beautiful place for your daily walk! It is a great resolution for the new year. I used to love walking my daughter to school when she was younger, it always felt such a good way to start the day and I enjoyed spotting the seasonal changes in the gardens we walked by. I would like to reestablish the habit of a daily walk. I love the Polly Mabel print, she is an artist I have also admired for a long time. What a special gift from your mum! I was very interested to hear about your morning routines and journals. The part about visualising the steps towards your goal rather than focusing on the end result is so inspiring in a very practical way. Thanks for a wonderful watch as always!
It is always such a treat when your videos pop up. I am grateful for them. And as I said once before, the warm, cozy relationship between you and your mum is one to be desired. It is so wonderful in the ways you spend time together. Till next time!
Miss Read is such an adorable author. I have read and reread her books… ❤ hugs from Michigan USA…
Hi ladies! Thank you so much for this relaxing, uplifting, and inspiring video. Miranda, your mom is absolutely radiant-she looks more and more beautiful every day! You both bring such a lovely energy to your videos.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️
As always I love your videos, you inspire me in so many ways, this video you delivered again, not to mention the peaceful serenity I get from watching your videos, thank you! 😊 ❤
Lovely watch on Sunday morning ..Thank you…🥰
So nice to see you and your Mom baking! Just like in your Afternoon tea & book videos. 🥧 Love the snow drop print. The flower does represent all those things you mention. Will have to look snowdrops up in the Flower dictionary I have to see if they have any other special meaning. Congratulations on your book, eagerly awaiting the release! 📖
I have horses. Talk about having no choice in getting up early with bells on! 😅☺️ I drag my feet down to the barn before sunrise but the moment we look at each other I feel immediately bright, happy and awake. There’s such excitement for me, for breakfast and for the new day.
Such a good combination of topics covered in this, Miranda! I really enjoyed it. And lovely to see you and Donna together ☺️🌸🌿
This was really lovely, thank you! I think I could smell the coffee banana bread baking😊 One of my favorite "bread" receipes is a banana that I add blueberries to, just yummy with my tea. My favorite magazine is Victoria. Have been subscribed to it since 1989. Full of wonderful English, Irish and Scottish articles and women's businesses . I have a bit of trouble walking now and truly miss the days of a 2 hr. walk with my beloved German Shepherd, Samson.
I use a pastry cutter to mash the bananas. It does a fast and smooth job. I keep one pastry cutter specific for bananas and one for making pastry.
i love your channel, adore your conversations with your mum 😊✨🌿
Thankyou Miranda! I always look forward to listening to you and your dear Mother. I’m so happy to say I going to visit Yorkshire, the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District in May.I’m taking a busstrip for eight days.I live otherwise in Sweden. I am looking forward to see the beautiful countryside . You both have givin me inspiration. I am so grateful.
Enjoy your visit, Kirsten! ❤️
Living in the American Midwest where winter is still strongly gripping us, and spring being my favorite season, every time I watch one of your videos from this time of year, I am jealous that you have flowers up already. We don't see a single flower in my area until late March earliest!
Dear Miranda thanks for this recent video. I am inspired to get out for an early morning walk and to try that lovely banana and coffee cake. Im also keen to get up maybe once a month and view the sunrise from the coast.such a lovely thing to do.
Hi Miranda, hope you and your Mom have a good weekend. I always love to see what you are up to and I love your book recommendations. Take care! ❤
Lots of lovely inspiration as always Miranda - reading, baking, journaling. We are having a lot of library closures where I live in Scotland so I always try there first (yes it or lose it) and I have Winter in Thrush Green waiting as we speak. Take care and thankyou. X
I’m so envious of anyone reading a Miss Read for the first time, I do hope you enjoy it! She has probably been the most influential/comforting writer in my life and it’s so exciting that younger women are enjoying her wit and wisdom too.
It just brought an instant smile to my face when your video popped up 😊. Every year when I see you post photos/videos of snowdrops, my heart takes a leap knowing Spring is coming. Your garden is beautiful and I am looking forward to possibly seeing it in bloom. Wonderful way to spend a little morning time. Thank you for the recommendation of Winter in Thrush Green. It is now downloaded and ready for me to start reading. Sending you both hugs and hope your off to a wonderful, productive day.
Hello, Miranda. I have started up a nature diary, too, and have found the Merlin bird identifier app very useful. I'm planning on recording short amounts every day (from my back garden) and from this seeing how many different birds visit my garden over the year, or are in the environs of it. It gets quite addictive!
I always look forward to your videos, but it’s a double treat when you two bake something together ☺️. I love the nature journal habit you started, what a precious document it will create! Journaling is really important to me, I start every morning with my journal, my bullet journal and my Bible and also keep creative journal occasionally with nature observations and memories. (Beside al kinds of notebooks ;)). You’re of to a good start this year!
Thank you so much! ❤️🙏
I totally loved this, Miranda. I love the way you have organised your mornings and the way you have put all of your busy-ness into order but always starting with a little walk and some fresh air.
What a very inspiring video Miranda, thank you. I have a journal which contains all of those things in one place that you mentioned. I keep a record of books I read, my daily thoughts, things I’ve noticed in nature, I find it very therapeutic and helpful, it makes me feel more positive about life. I adore that print your mum got for you, she’s such a sweetie x
You are so welcome, Michala! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I am so delighted with the print! ❤️
Lovely video, dear Miranda ❤ I wish you all the best in achiving your goals this year 🤗
Dear Miranda,
Lovely video.
I always love to see the
Outdoor scenes.
Such a great place to step
Out into.
Wish I could take a walk in
The lovely countryside.
The cake looked really good.
Mary
Another wonderful video. Thank you. I do wish I liked coffee because that bread looked amazing. You and your mom have such a sweet relationship!
The weather is still cold in southern Ontario 🇨🇦 Snow drops are not out yet, I long to see the little green hearts in the center. There are beautiful gardens I can walk through a short drive away. I loved the print, especially the beautiful blue and white china, which reflects the beautiful china in your cabinets.
Loved this throwback to some of the old tea reads videos ☕️
Hello Miranda. An inspiring video, thank you. You mentioned Tracy Anderson for workouts…as someone who loves to hide in books with cups of tea and pretend I don’t need to exercise, you have encouraged me to look into what she offers. Could you share how you started and perhaps which of her programmes you are following. I would find this enormously helpful. 😊
That is a lovely garden to walk in! My morning routine is not very inspirational - making breakfast, coffee, and lunch for everyone to take with them 😂. Love all those tulips you have in vases!!
Love this video so much Miranda, especially baking with Donna. I want yo track down that recipe, it sounds divine! Love Miss Read as it reminds me of my beautiful mummy reading her books in the 1960’s! Also love the Simple Things magazine and can’t wait for February’s issue to be out. Take care both x
Another lovely video Miranda, so much content, thank you. I always enjoy your baking ideas and seeing you and your mum enjoying the results 😋. I do get up early and walk the dog through the woods near us often before dawn and just before the starlings depart in murmurations from the trees opposite the house. This really does set me up for the day along with some morning routines linking to mindfulness and exercise. I do complete a nature diary 'Homecoming' by Melissa Harrison as recommended by one of your Season of Story members and yourself which really makes me notice the small changes in nature. Love the idea of the 'High 5 Daily Journal', will defintiely look into this. For a decent nights sleep I make sure as much as possible to not look a screens after 8 p.m. but rather the pages in a book 😊❤
Such inspirational ideas miranda and I am continuing with my own new year resolutions. My commonplace book is still my favourite and of course I myself have been doing some walking quite regularly 😊
Hi. it's lovely to see your new video - I've missed your regular vlogs over Christmas :) I absolutely struggle to get up in the mornings and promise myself every single day that I will exercise for 30 mins at least but have got worse and worse at sticking to it as the rest of my life gets busier and busier, then promise myself I'll do the exercise after work but these dark evenings are no good either! Gosh, if you get up at 5:30 what time do you go to bed to ensure you get enough rest?
Looking forward to reading your anthology and it will be so lovely if you manage to write a novel - what a treat x
I hope you will share a page from your nature journal at some point. I too am trying to do more daily journaling, and my time is somewhat limited as you talked about today.
Wonderful video! It’s always nice to see you lovely ladies. The print is beautiful!😊
I have tried keeping a journal, including a mindfulness one, but it never works, because I fall out of the habit. I do wake up at the same time and take a walk every morning. I try to make sure I read a little before I get on my laptop but I do mess up sometimes. Days I struggle to remember to move around, are days when I stay downstairs to watch our dog while my parents are working, and I find myself sitting at the kitchen table being on my laptop almost all day.
Thank you Miranda for this lovely video. A morning routine is very important to me too .The very first thing in the morning for me is a brisk walk , about 20 minutes , with my terrier Pippa. When we get home Pippa is having breakfast and meanwhile I ,m feeding the birds. It,s such a relaxing start of the day. Rain or shine . Greetings from the Netherlands.
Lovely to read your latest video and to hear about your ideas for this year. I also love very early morning walks. It truly is the most peaceful time of the day. Just me and the birds waking up! I love your cooking with your Mom videos, they add a lovely balance to the content.
I love your mug with the robins. I love the robin mugs of Emma Bridgewater. Spring is a long ways off here in Northwest Oregon. I don't recognize it as Spring until I have seen my first robin regardless of the calendar!
I have given up on resolutions, and have settled on "reset" as the way to go and be successful for me. I, too, am rethinking how I journal and I keep a couple going at once. I do journal daily because I keep track of my food intake and health tracking, and weather most days. So glad to see your video popping up this gray, overcast cold day. You always bring a bit of sunshine into my day while watching the video. Enjoy your week🌷🌷saw tulips in store this week and see daffodils return pop up. I love Nigella Lawson but don't have that cookbook, so definitively something to add to my birthday wish list😊
I enjoy your visits with your mom. It's kindred spirits kind of get together for me even though I'm more than 6000 km away.
Hello Miranda, what a lovely morning walk. I agree, I love the Mason Cash bowls, as well. Your turquoise one is beautiful. I enjoyed your vlog today. Thank you for sharing how you plan your days and being mindful. I hope you and your mum have a great week. Take care. ❤
Enjoyed this video so much. Very inspiring! ❤
So glad you did a video today, soooo needed it!
Really enjoyed your video and I love your nature diary! Such a nice idea to journal in it after your morning walk. Adding some of your beautiful photos of your garden would be so pretty too. Thanks for the video😊🌼🌸🌻
very much enjoyed this
Thank you Miranda for another interesting and inspiring vlog! I so enjoy them, and love seeing you and your Mum together. You have made me rethink the concept of journaling, as I to find it cumbersome at times. I have a daily planner that I use, inexpensive one from Amazon, as I also keep track of my water consumption and what I eat in a day, plus appt's etc.and jot down notes of the day as well. What really caught my attention, was the piece about gratitude, as I do believe it's important and a reminder to be mindful of what is good and important in our daily lives. So I need to do more of that. Snowdrops are one of my favourite plants and I just potted some to grow indoors. I have stitched them as well. Your print is beautiful, and please tell us where it's home will be in the house! My best wishes to your Mum!
I do love starting my day with, gratitude, Andrea! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and are a lover of Snowdrops too! ❤️
Such lovely moments of grace.
Thanks so much for sharing your updated morning routine. I'm at my best in the early mornings, too, and though I have a pretty good work routine, I do need to add in more walking. Your early morning walk footage has inspired me!
That’s great, Mitzi! ❤️
I sit down with my bible and notebook every morning and write God a letter and talk to Him about what I’m learning, where I am emotionally, and how grateful I am for His goodness. ❤ Precious time.
What a beautiful idea!
Thank you, Miranda. A beautifullly encouraging and delightful video, always a joy to watch.❤❤❤
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
I get up at 5am every day. I get more done in the morning. I too get tired in the evenings. Looking forward to your novel!
I would look forward to reading a novel written by you Miranda.
❤️
Thanks Miranda for such a helpful vlog, I always enjoy hearing about people’s morning routines. I’m also an early bird and try and write or sketch in the morning before my day job. I’m definitely guilty of looking at my phone or iPad first thing or before I go to bed so trying to be mindful of this and reduce my screen time. The journal that you use sounds very useful. I’m also inspired by you to try and keep a nature journal.
I loved The Good Wife of Bath
Thank you Miranda 🌷
Thank you so much, Emma, for your kind support of my channel! I so appreciate it. ❤️🙏
Thank you Miranda! Very inspired by your morning routine. I do hope you will accomplish your writing goals this year- perhaps a bit selfishly because if you succeed we will all benefit too!😌
Thank you so very much for your always kind words and support of my channel, Nicea! I so appreciate your generosity. ❤️🙏
Hello Miranda and Donna...So lovely to see you again...Great video...I am loving the Nigella cake, I have all her cook books and love her recipes and cooking...Both take care and looking forward to see you next time. X
Thanks so much, Helen! Yes, I too love Nigella’s recipes. Everything always works too! ❤️
Wonderful video!
Thank you with cake! The best way! I always have cake on hand in the winter too. I'm so curious about that Lettice Cooper mystery! That Carol Carnac looks so good too!
Miranda, that garden is absolutely beautiful! I'm sure you have plenty of inspiring observations to fill your journal! I've spent over 10 years writing 'morning pages' and am just now considering reworking that practice and starting a sketchbook journal in the morning. I would like to paint what's growing in my garden seasonally and add thoughts, dreams, ideas, goals in the journal as well. I mostly paint portraits, but this will help give me more opportunities to paint from life. Going to give it a try! Also, I want to mention that I've ordered 2 Serious Readers HD floor lamps! I am over the moon with them! They've transformed my studio lighting and I can't express how much I love them. I have some issues with my eyes and was getting so worried about how to properly light my studio. Your offer code came in very handy too! Thank you. Lastly, Mel Robbins is the best! Sending happy thoughts for Spring to you and your lovely Mom.
Thank you so much for sharing your morning and evening routines. I am definitely going to start to envision the smaller steps in my goals versus the end results. Such great advice. As always you and your mom look absolutely beautiful.
What a lovely video - as always. Loved the chat on goals and morning/evening routines. I get up at 5:30 too, though in my case it’s so I can enjoy a full leisurely breakfast before I head into the office. Making time for that and savoring it helps me approach my whole day from a place of unhurried contentment.
What an inspiring video! Walking and baking and books and journaling - so many good things. I have just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which you had mentioned in the past, and I really loved it. Thank you for all you do! It's always lovely to see your mum, too. 😊
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I think TGLSAPPS is a great read too, so glad you loved it! ❤️🙏
Thanks! Really enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much Carol for your very kind words and support! I so appreciate your generosity ❤️
Enjoyed this video so much. Thank you for sharing with us. ❤
Thanks Miranda. I managed to google the recipe and will make it tomorrow. I love your idea of morning walk and nature journal. I walk to work early each morning and will make a point at looking at signs of spring.
Wonderful, Florence! Happy Baking for tomorrow too! ❤️
I have just bought the cookery book on world of books for £3.50 pre owned,
I don’t have such a lofty goal as a novel, can’t wait to read yours, but I do have trouble with breaking down all the little steps towards the ones I do have into small actionable items. The High Five notebook seems perfect for daily reflection on that, so I’m happy you shared it!
Hi you both look lovely and so does that cake! Thank you for sharing your book recommendations and your garden tour. Very interesting.
Banana bread: Yum! A Miranda Mills novel would be FANTASTIC! I do a daily, very quick Bullet Journal of my day in a Stalogy A6 notebook. I also do Morning Pages, but more when I'm in a writing cycle, vs. some other project I'm working on. I have lots of different notebooks for different projects or topics. (It's on The List to do a 2025 line-up video, but haven't managed to get to it yet). 🙂
Thank you for this lovely video. I really value all of your inspirational ideas and goals for 2925. I have recently got the Five Minute Journal to try and very much like the sound of the High 5 journal too. I couldn’t do without my daily walks and noticing the seasonal changes. I do sympathise with you over your car issues and hope that the wonderful coffee and banana cake helped to alleviate the stress.
I love you and your mom. I wish you both a nice and cozy weekend.
This has been delightful, Miranda. Thank you both for spending some of your day with us. When I worked, I always got up at least a half hour early to help me ease into the day. I wasn’t near as productive as you though. But feeling rushed or stressed tended to influence how the rest of the day went then too. Not well 😊. The banana cake looks delicious. I am so looking forward to being able to purchase your books and a novel is something else to look forward to. I hope you and Donna have a lovely weekend💕
Thanks so much, Sandy! Happy weekend to you too! ❤️
Hello, I always enjoy your videos. I too enjoy getting outside for a walk. It's not always easy to do in Canada, with the snow and cold but today was absolutely lovely!! I try to walk my dogs for at least 1 hour a day, they are great motivators!! Right now I am reading Yours from the Tower. If you haven't read this yet, I think you would absolutely love it!! I've never read any Miss Read books, but I think you have convinced me to start.
Hi Miranda - first, thank you for sharing your goals. I appreciate its a highly personal thing to put out there. I've started my first novel and am about half way through the first draft. Finding a really good online writing group has been a very important part of that commitment and has given me a supportive group of kindred spirits and help me set reasonable goals and expectations too! I love the high 5 journal . I've never warmed to this type of journals but I'm going to watch one of Mel Robbins videos and then might invest in that journal. Thank you for the recommendation. And as it is just Chinese NY now, if we didn't get going with our resolution setting in Jan, we've got a second chance!
Thanks so much, Michele! I’m really enjoying The High 5 Journal so do have a look at it if you get a chance. Good luck with your novel writing too! ❤️📚
Enjoyed the garden stroll - I agree on the journaling - I try to do a little note daily and do miss days here and there, but fun to look back at old notes - will have to pick up a “Miss Read” book - with all the recommends! 🎉😊
Enjoy your Miss Read, Virginia! ❤️
Could I ask you a question please? Where do you put all your books? I can see the bookcase behind you is full to bursting. Do you donate to local charity shops? I find I'm running out of space in my small library and it's so difficult to choose which books to donate. I love your videos. They make me feel happy. Thank you for filming them ❤
I'm delighted to hear you have novel writing in mind this year! If you ever get stuck in the middle of your novel writing, I have been doing The 90-day Novel by Alan Watt. Ottessa Moshfegh used it when writing their Man Booker entry Eileen, and I find the daily plan and assignments a useful guide. Love all the Save the Cat books by Blake Snyder (and Jessica Brody) which are always a favorite when stuck with plotting. I will look up the Mel Robbins podcast. Writing is definitely a mindset practice!!! Mainly, I'm glad to hear your year is starting off well!
I enjoyed your garden footage especially. I am a gardener and the stage your trees and perennials are at in late January is where our gardens will be in early May. I love extending my season watching garden footage from the UK. ❤. I also like to get my walk done in the morning as I feel it sets me up for the day. I do keep journals as well but prefer to write in them as part of my evening wind down. Good luck with your 2025 routines!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the footage of the garden, Debbie! Yes! I feel the same about a morning walk! ❤️🙏📖
Have a wonderful weekend Miranda 🌸🩷🌷
Something my husband purchased was a portable jump starter. I'm not sure if you can find them where you are, but it doesn't require another car and it's been so handy.
That sounds like a great tip, Mitzi! Thank you! ❤️
Thanks for the inspiration!
I’ve read Cooper’s The New House and Fenny, both of which I loved, so I’ve ordered a used copy of National Provincial.
Thanks for sharing ❤ I love magazines too
That was so lovely Miranda, full of everything I really enjoy. I must try and borrow the Nigella cookery book from the library. I do journal, but not every day. I also like to sketch in it if feeling motivated. I have listened to some of Mel Robbins snippets on Instagram, they are so inspiring. I must try a podcast and also read one of her books. Thank you very much.❤
Thanks
Thank you so much, Lyn, for your kind support of my channel! I so appreciate it. ❤️
enjoyed the morning walk and baking session w/your mum . .
♥️🙋♀️🌺🐦📖 📚
Such a motivational video Miranda😊
Journaling in the morning is a great idea which I have also implemented this year.
Nature journals are lovely 😊 but I personally struggle with it living in the city.
Please let us know how you get on with Tea on Sunday, Miranda.
Interested to know what you thought of it.
Thank you 😊
Enjoyed your walk. Blooming of flowers in winter. Always like books, too.
Wonderful! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Inspiring..thank you! 🎉
Thanks for watching! I’m so glad you enjoyed watching! ❤️
Just bought that lovely snowdrop print.
You and your mum are do sweet x
Brava, Miranda 👏🏾 I am visualising you achieving your goals and realising your dreams because you deserve it!
And I can almost taste your banana bread as it wafts its way out of your oven - I am visualising having a hot, buttered slice of one end 🤤…
Thanks!
Thanks so very much for your very kind support of my channel, Andrea! It’s so appreciated! Happy journaling! 📖🙏❤️
