- This video shows the history of the Catholic Church, for every year since 30 AD.
It shows the spread of the Church through the saints (in yellow).
The presence of the Church is highlighted through the dioceses, which are either of the Western Rite (in red) or the Eastern Rite (in pink).
The lighter color in each case represents the minor sees of the respective rite.
The liturgical rite assigned to a diocese is the one in use at the time the video was made, or the last one used. For this reason, the table showing the occurrence of the various rites is not necessarily completely accurate for each year.
The data for the saints and dioceses is sourced from Gcatholic.org.

First of all the Syro-Malabar church is not the greatest Eastern church because this church is not original, and it’s not a true part of Syriac Christianity. This church is just Indian church influenced by Syriac Christianity which was spreading the Christian faith in all of Asia. Syriac, Chaldean, and Assyrian churches are originally the main.

Fun Fact: The Middle East is the Cradle of Christianity. First Christians were Middle Easterners therefore no need for Catholic missions.

Amazing video, I can't explain how much I loved this, I've always wanted to see a video like this
The Portuguese were the people who spread Christianity the most around the world in the 15th and the 16th centuries, to places like Guinea, Congo, Angola, Moçambique, Brasil, India, South East Asia, Japan, etc.
This video doesn't really show it well. For example, it only stems from Europe in 1500, when the Portuguese had already been spreading Christianity to sub- Saharan Africa since the 1450's, and by the early 16th century, the Portuguese had already converted one of Africa's main kings, the King of the Congo, to Christianity.
But of course, the Spanish will say it was them the main spreaders of Christianity in the world (despite the fact that the Portuguese had a much more widespread presence in Africa and Asia), and the French will arrogantly just simply roll over Portuguese history as unimportant, as they always do.
Dioceses are different than converts. In fact, if an expedition departed from Porto and arrived at Salvador, Salvador was under the jurisdiction of the Diocese that Porto belongs to until the Pope created a new one in it's place.
Actually, the bishop of Orlando (I guess) claimed to be the bishop of the moon since the craft that landed in the moon departed from Florida. The Canon Law still had a law about these expeditions at the time.

"Ahhh, every time Catholics come to talk about the Catholic Church's contributions to Western Civilization they quote Thomas Woods and his famous book. But this Woods is Catholic."
In response to this we can assert three things: First, the mere fact that Thomas Woods is a Catholic historian DOES NOT invalidate his academic work. Second, just to avoid this argument I read Woods' book twice and analyzed each of his sources. I would type in the names of scholars he referenced on Google and search to see if they were Catholic or not. And the result was that Woods used 107 scholars as a source for his famous book, and of these 63 were NOT Catholic. Only 44 yes. So Woods PASSED the impartiality test. But, we still have the MOST POWERFUL answer for those who insist on doubting the honesty of Thomas Woods. Thirdly, several books and scholars have documented the reality of the AMAZING contributions of the Catholic Church to humanity. With the exception of Thomas Woods, we have over 50 other scholars who bring these accounts. There are a total of 42 BOOKS (and here including Woods's) and 12 academic studies that guarantee the MAGNIFICENT achievements of the Catholic Church to the world. Below, we have all the details of all this:
"Today we already know that many actors throughout history have contributed to the development of Western Civilization, such as: Judaism, the Greeks, Romans, certain Barbarian Peoples, Islam, certain branches of Protestantism and the Enlightenment that emerged in the 17th century. But it is undeniable that the BIGGEST contribution was made by the Catholic Church. She was the great "blender" that made possible the development of our great civilization. For those who try to minimize the contributions of the Catholic Church by appealing to its argument that it borrowed too much from the Greek civilization -Roman and others, this FAR from minimizing the importance of the Church's work only makes her merit MUCH BIGGER. For the argument of atheists, Marxists and anti-Catholics in general is not to rate the Catholic Church as intolerant, dogmatic and petrified? well, the fact that she used what good other civilizations had and added to her own dogmas was precisely the spice that provided all these her WONDERFUL contributions to Western Civilization and by table to humanity.
Therefore, she alone deserves the title of BUILDER of Western Civilization, the most powerful civilization that ever lived.
Several scholars have already shown with their academic work, for at least a century, that Catholic morals and doctrine had a determining influence on the behavioral formation of Western society and on a world scale. And as Western Civilization has become indisputably throughout history the most complete civilization and with the most qualities, it follows that Catholic morals and doctrine are superior to all others. Making it a religion, in PRACTICE, superior to others.
It is imperative that we remember or learn, for those who did not know, without any kind of pride, but only in favor of the truth of the facts, that it was the Catholic Church that, through its doctrine and morals, contributed decisively to the development of these 8 areas of knowledge that are FUNDAMENTAL for the flourishing of any society, especially the Western Civilization that even for having these values developed within it became the most powerful and complete civilization of all:
1- The importance given to charity has increased a lot.
2- Precisely for this reason it created hospitals and other health institutions.
3- This is also why it contributed decisively to the mitigation of slavery, the oppression of women, children, the sick and workers. Categories considered "inferior" in the ancient world.
4- Contributed decisively to the development of science.
5- Precisely for this reason, he created dozens of Universities in the Middle Ages.
6- Contributed to the development of the notion of freedom of conscience and religion, which would be the beginnings of modern notions of International Law and Human Rights. But in this area he had the valuable help of certain branches of Protestantism and the Enlightenment.
7- Contributed to the development of the economy. But once again in this area he had the help of certain branches of Protestantism and the Enlightenment.
8- Important contributions in the field of art in general, especially literature, painting and architecture.
These 8 contributions made on a larger scale more by the Catholic Church than by any other religion or philosophical system first influenced Western Civilization, the region where first the Church was most established. Then slowly spread to other civilizations in the world. It was these contributions that made Western Civilization the most complete of all. Therefore, we can conclude that religion Catholic is SUPERIOR to others. Superior in the practical sense of the term, because when the doctrinal and moral values of the Catholic faith are followed as closely as possible to genuineness, the effects for society are AMAZING. The list of 8 contributions above is proof of this. NO civilization develops without reaching these 8 areas of knowledge. But again, this only happens according to the degree of fidelity with which Catholic believers and leaders live their faith. The simple attendance at Masses and observance of ritualistic precepts of NOTHING works.
We have other religions and philosophical systems that are older than Catholicism and that have similar moral teachings, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, Stoicism, etc. which could serve as an argument against this moral primacy of the Catholic faith. But the problem is that all these other religious groups, for various reasons, have NOT managed to get their moral teachings fixed in their respective societies, remaining only in theory. Therefore, civilizations influenced by these religions, even though they have interesting moral values and very similar to Catholicism, could not prosper as fully and completely as the Western Civilization.
But one can still try to remember the "cruelties" of the Catholic Church's past in order to argue: "The Church has contributed, but it has also done a lot of bad things. So everything is reset." Well, it's enough for them to know that such ailments in the Church's past happened in a MUCH LESS proportion than common sense imagines. While the positive contributions occurred on a MUCH BIGGER scale than that same common sense supposes. So there is NO need to talk about "a tie", "them for them", or anything like that. For example, about the Inquisition, which is the most cited fact, it lasted about 650 years. AND DIFFERENT from what one imagines, IT has NOT killed millions of people. There were a MAXIMUM (many scholars say it was less) 15 thousand deaths in more than 6 centuries of action. Taking into account the duration of this court, the number of deaths (which, let us remember, was probably less than the 15 thousand cited) was very small.
Furthermore, the very act of sensitivity to human life that moves the exaggerated critics of the Church by attacking it already PROVES the importance of Catholic morality for our society. Like this ?? Many will ask. It is that the very notion of the sacredness of human life, the high value that we give to human life today, is JUST based on Catholic morality which was responsible for raising the importance of human life to the extreme, something that the Greco-Roman and Mesopotamian civilizations , Persian, Chinese, Islamic, etc. did much, much less incisively. See, then, that even to criticize the excesses of the Church's conduct in the past, the Church's critics already have to presuppose the importance, the high value of human life. But if they, critics, presuppose this, it is because even without knowing they are influenced, impregnated by Catholic morality which, in turn, is still very much ingrained in society. Paraphrasing the progressives who speak of "structural racism" or "structural machismo" where we would all be virtually racist and sexist even without realizing it due to the impregnation of these two behaviors in society, we could also speak of "structural Catholicism" or "structural Catholic moral concepts". We all obey, we presuppose certain Catholic moral concepts, such as the high value of human life, even without realizing and using these concepts inherited from Catholic morality when evaluating the past conduct of the Church.
