I hope there is some kind of free trial in the future. It would be a good move on StarVault's part to at least let people check it out once they've recouped some of their costs.
Yeah, free trial at least is needed even if its a niche game. I would love to try it, seems like fresh air but im not going to pay so much for something that i have no idea if im gonna enjoy it in the long term.
I remember when TheHiveLeader messaged me a year or two ago that he’d spent several hours recording video footage *with* audio for an upcoming video, and he hadn’t realized he had his mic muted the entire time. So he scrapped the entire video idea as to not force it a second time. We’ve all done it. All we can hope for is to never do it again. Even though we undoubtedly will. Lmao.
There's a Legends of Runeterra youtuber who literally goes "I'm recording right?" on every single video like halfway through his video which is hilarious. Thanks to him whenever I make my videos I make sure to check my headset everytime before hitting record lmao.
I've played Mortal Online 1 since 2015, and now Mortal Online 2 since combat alpha. This game is not like most other MMO's, and you should definitely check it out, worth the time and money investment. Their team is incredibly hard working and passionate about their game. If you don't like the subscription model, keep it in your mind that it not only funds future development but also disincentivize hackers and exploiters from ruining the game.
@@SoullessAIMusic The combat feels slow to me, but still fun and rewarding if you can master it. It's easy to block and parry which can lead to long duels however in larger group battles it feels much more in tune. Top tier players are mastering techniques to conceal their attacks and trick opponents into missing their blocks. The skill ceiling is very high, and a lot of practice truly shows.
is that a joke? MO1 had 2 major security breeches that I can recall. Subscribers CC numbers leaked, e-mail addresses, real names. I'm all for the funding future development and consistent patches, but their security has been lacking in the past so I hope that they have learned from that.
@@stetsonsouder9512 Not a joke. I didn't say anything about their security. Hackers and exploiters will get into anything with enough time and motivation, it just helps disincentivize them.
I can't justify spending $40 on top of that another $15 subscription every month I'm sorry this is no world of Warcraft or final fantasy worthy of $15 a month especially when you have games like new world that only ask $30 now to buy the game and be done with payment and enjoy the rest of the game
If you want to be part of an actual server community where you will be remembered by your actions (think WoW Vanilla and Burning Crusade but at a much higher scale), you will enjoy this game. The first-person aspect and in-game VoIP makes it extremely immersive. Very social game; no LFG, LFR or instanced content. Just one big open world with one server and one history. A real MMO RPG.
See, these types of games always sound amazing in theory, but in practice, usually quickly become barren wastelands because players are too used to the ease in new MMOs with LFG etc.
@@BatJeff That is true but also a problem Games like this attract Griefers at Launch who ruin the rep of said MMO for new Players and then move on leaving the reputation in ruins of said MMO.
@@Vell1981 wont be as easy for the griefers to do stuff like that to new players without loosing their rep to be in that city. 5 murder counts and youre out if he hasnt done parcel runs or rescue mission to gain more reputation with that city. Sure they can make a new character but then they will loose all their progress.
One other thing that people should know is that items have Durability that decreases as you use them and eventually they will break. An option to repair items will be added later down the road, but that will still cost a significant amount of resources. So the game's entire economy is based on the fact that items are not permanent. Losing items in PvP is definitely not the same as losing an item in a theme park MMO. Also, similarly to Albion Online, you will not be running around in your best gear all the time. When you go into the wilderness by yourself to gather, tame or just on a solo adventure, you will take some decent gear that you can afford to lose and you will leave your best gear into the bank. There are also builds with high movement speed which give you a lot of freedom in choosing when and who you fight. Your character's weight also affects how fast your mount will run. So there are definitely ways to avoid dying or losing less when you do die even when playing solo (but ideally you find yourself a nice guild).
Problem is the gank-brigades that exist outside the starter zone. The theory behind everything is nice, but the reality that you have half the population functionally sabotaging the extended experience spells the same problem the original, Darkfall, and others ran into. The game kills off it's own player base.
Darkfall died once under devs that knew how to code darkfall. The others were hobbyists or people not being paid while using someone else's code not knowing what to do. I for sure can blame the company operating the game for the entire situation since they are to blame.
@@KiraTV1 With two other studios aside from Aventurine, it's hard for me to share that opinion. Generally speaking to something that is more systemic than that one title any ways. It's a recurring issue for any full loot open pvp MMO, and any unique issues Darkfall may have does not detract from the common trend every title in the genre shares. Forest for the trees and all that. Edit: can reference Josh Strife Hayes on that one a bit. He has a video expounding on the subject. It's a bit of an issue with being a self-cannibalizing design.
no instances, no cash shop, no PayToWin, no nameplates, no fast travel, no maps, no grouping, no general chat, no waypoints, no quests, no safe areas, 1st person only, skill-based, directional melee, archery, magic, mounts, full loot pvp, territory control, guild war declarations, in-depth crafting, local banking, local auctions, housing (houses, strongholds, keeps) taming, VOIP, and it's freaking real, launches Jan 25th, subscription based $14/mo

kinda feels like the original concept of New World. Albion and Escape from Tarkov and Eve Online are good examples on how full hardcore pvp can be sucessful.
watch joshstrife review on it. he explained many many things about this game(both mortal online 1 & 2). its a moertal online 1 but with better graphics. so buy mortal online 1 ? the System they put for crafting is complicated and there is no Quests whatssoever. you earn money by selling zombies head get gear up and pvp and die and repeat. its player count super low casue of its complexity . u can pretty much call it a dead sandbox mmo.
@@darkgather2808 nothing josh strife has ever said interested me in the least. @@darkgather2808 I don't find the crafting system itself complicated, the drag where you learn the skills for crafting? Yes. An issue is how a lot of weapon heads and handles were interchangeable in the first game and this was removed in Mo2. This means that you can't level 2h pole handles or 2h sword handles with the 1h blades, you'll have to read both 2h handle and blades just to be able to use either parts and especially since they probably did not bother to think of combining those two skills (handle and weapon head). About the graveyard loop. I hope that they will bring out more content to have something other than just zombies. I guess for now you could farm in tindrem sewers, hunt animals, and possibly mining (But I doubt it unless people are willing to spend their gold)

Thank you for the video! I knew you’d nail the points. As I said last night, the more I hear about it the better it sounds. When I played vanilla wow back then, I fantasized about my dream mmo. Chronicles of Elyria sounded like that (thank god I didn’t invested anything), but Mortal Online was the game I’ve probably wanted all along. Great video! I’ve purchased the game, and I cross my fingers, that I can finally play a new mmo as my main game. The immersion, intensity, risk/reward, adventure, mystery and most importantly organic social stories are key points I want from an mmo. I’ve joined Requiem, c’ya all in game 😁
Well I hate to say it but this game is actually actively scamming people. No where on the game page does it say that the server would be focused in EU. Pings are 80+ ms and they dont plan on doing anything apparently.
@@bigmojito1765 It feels like this game scammed me. Promised all this crap only for it to be a shell of a game. The starting island has all there is to offer and is the most complete part of the game.
@@steveescher1554 Yea I dont know I think theres more to offer in the endgame but the que times and ping are just way too fucking high for anything to be enjoyable. They should by now have enough money to set up servers in the US and other parts of the world.
I must add, I really like the art direction, it looks amazing. Its realistic , no swords bigger then you, no bright cheerful colors (not saying these are bad , but not for me)
I don't know why people prefer "realistic" graphics... it makes now a bit more sense than in the past. but still the biggest draw back is the atmosphere. they all look steril as fuck. the lightning makes it a bit better now but it still looks shit imho
@@Noqtis Its not about realisitc graphics per se for me , it can be for example cartoon style, but there is a difference between styles, there are cartoons for children and cartoons for adults. There i dont know, x-com games and there is Magicka style
@@Noqtis I agree with you on this, Most of the time I really dislike that style but a few games pull it off okay. Most of the time things just look weird because of all of the limitations and when it's a MMO or MP game it just needlessly increases the need for a more powerful computer lowering the number of people that can play.
The rush of full loot games is incredible. I played a lot of conan exiles and theres no better gaming experience than having your heart pound out of your chest as you're defending what you've got.
I've had similar experiences in games with open world pvp that is always on. It can be amazing fun, among other things the conflicts that arise randomly adds an amazing aspect, the amount of bad stuff that comes of it isn't bad enough to overshadow all of that fun. (in most cases, from my experience)
MO2 is not my cup of tea. But, I always enjoy watching your videos on games that are outside of my wheelhouse, Kira. They intelligently inform my decision-making process. Thanks for that, Sir. Cheers.
Played mortal online 1 for some years and I will admit, its was a true adventure for me, everything felt so huge , the thrill , the mystery, the progress, the interactions with other players, the cooperation, the economy, the skill builds . Really worth it . But I will w8 for the updates of all magic schools until I join MO2
@@KonaSuba you have in every game toxic people. Mo2 is no different. It just depends how much you let that toxicity get to you. There is no general chat so you can't get called out. If you sorround yourself with positive ppl, the few toxic ones are no problem.

I'm not a big pvper fan and some may say that I'm a carebear, but I actually really got into Mortal Online 1. I usually go into these games for the crafting/gathering aspect. So my plan is to get friendly with a good guild. They protect me and I supply them with awesome gear. Win-win.
i will say if you do get into Mortal online 2, find a guild as soon as you leave tutorial island, it makes your life infinitely easier and less frustrating having ppl to help with gear/protection and just getting upgrades in general. If you are looking to be more solo oriented player, just train for mounted combat, its OP af in small scale, and if youre unmounted combat vs a mounted (any combat) youll just get floored in a 1 v 1. Unmounted has its uses for sure, like fighting inside dungeons, castles or any spot where being mounted is a hinderance but for 98% of the world its the best.
No microtransactions blows a lot of people's minds. Imagine a game that isn't trying to milk you for another buck or has setup RMT in-game like a WoW or Lost Ark. This game seems like a game with honest monetization
Been waiting on a promotion opportunity for 7 months, finally opened up. As soon as I'm not broke af, 100% going to try this. I just want to craft and gather, that's all I did in Eve and SWG
@@wrathava Why do carebear mmo players like you believe you understand anything regarding real mmos ? Come on now, get back to your dungeon queue simulator. Real men are talking about real MMOs here. Blizzard doesnt know how to make good video games, they know how to copy them extremely well and polish them like gods.
I had no intention on looking into this game until I saw your video. Reminds me of the old days in Ultima Online when you could get looted or robbed in the woods. Niche games like this give you the best memories in gaming because the community is so in depth and connected. Thanks for the video I’ll be picking it up today haha.
Good video Kira! One of your videos got me into Mortal and it's the game I've been looking forward too the most. I ended up playing the beta for almost 700 hours and can't wait to see what the came becomes in time!
Thanks for this video, i love Rust and MMOs but i wasnt sure if this game will provide some of the things what Rust does. Like meaningful social interactions, politics, base building, adrenaline rush while fighting (people who never experienced that can NEVER imagine what its like), because there isnt a wipe of the map and i just coudnt imagine how this game woud work. Anyway in a middle of this video i just went and pre-ordered it because i 100% believe i will not be playing anything other then this for a loooong time. It just sounds like a perfect combination between MMO and survival like Rust. Its funny how you so often make a video on a exactly the topic what im thinking about and informatively answer all my questions i have.
MO1 was the REAL sequel to Ultima online, and MO2 will be in the same spirit. I played MO1 with a guild and without a guild. the game is so much fun and very rewarding, but also punishing and frustrating. Its one of the best gaming experience iv ever had through my 35 years of gaming. OHH @KiraTV you missed the soundtrack is so fucking damn god level good.
Full loot works great if they have chest system or bank where you can store items and it's relativly easy to get! I will defintely give this game a try
Its not that harsh system what people think. Dont carry anything you dont wish to lose. Simple as that. And even if you lose stuff, its very easy to replace with new one.
i've played it since early alpha and its hands down a great game played MO1 back in the early days aswell, its definetly not for everyone but if you dont try it, you will never know if you would love it, and i know alot of people that was negative towards it but are now hooked on it like a junky on crack lol. Just watching some videos doesnt give it the well deserved chance that it deserves. The developers are really working their asses off and they really listen to the community and they have followed the roadmap so far and managed to implement everything on time that they've promised. Buy it, Try it, Love it. Or hate it, its all up to you. Cya in the world! Love your videos KiraTV keep up the great work :) hope to see you in game!
The game looks so beautiful and after having watched several gameplay videos, I start to understand the risk/reward factor induced by the full loot feature making even very aggresive players to think twice before attacking or pushing assaults thay have initiated on others when things turn bad XD. I will wishlist it and see how the EA evolves.
The problem comes with groups and people rather choosing the winning site. Joining the Zerg rather than establishing a varied political landscape. But I'm really looking forward to this, looks almost as good as my modded skyrim and I loved Darkfall back in the day.
I will check it out sometime. Back then I wasn't ready for a MMO like that. TO much into WoW and how it's all about gathering gear that you don't want to lose. Maybe I deal with it better now after all those survival games that came out in the last few years.
Someone in reviews mentioned there's no server on the NA side of the world so there's higher ping than you'd like, especially in a game with charged attacks and parrying. Someone also mentioned there's a ping normalization thing going on that desyncs you a lot if you aren't EU. I wanted to try the hell outta this but I just can not imagine playing on a game that only has an EU server.
They have some sort of new tech that normalizes the ping so speaking personally being west NA the absolute worst thing I had was another higher ping character attacking me from just out of range of where he should have been but otherwise I didn't notice any issues at all.
I am in East Coast NA. In PVP I have to react harder and faster than an EU player to parry attacks, as it cannot be a last second reaction due to ping. An EU player can consistently pull of last second parries, even after blocking the wrong direction. Recently they have updated their hardware and it seems to be a better experience than before. Keep in mind I haven't pvp'ed as much recently. There is an unlisted video that shows a testing of different regional ping, idk if I can link tho due to possible TH-cam bot moderation.
I play from Australia with 250ms ping just fine, and some of the best melee fighters I've seen were from AU/SEA. When I first started playing I got constantly destroyed and came close to dismissing the game as unplayable due to ping like you, until I saw other Aussie players absolutely wrecking EU/NA players who were themselves considered good. It is absolutely possible to become a top tier PVPer with high ping, just takes a bit of getting used to.
I think this genre has a place in the industry but I have never seen a full loot pvp mmo pan out the way its intended. Give this game a few months and I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a few people in a ganking raid
Albion Online has been a massive success only growing it's playerbase over the years and is full loot PVP. The MO2 beta has had a steady 1k+ daily active players for the 6months I've been playing it. While a lot of people who aren't ready for full loot PVP will likely ragequit, I really doubt they will have trouble sustaining a healthy size playerbase. The market is only growing with recent games like Myth of Empires also being really popular.
Albion, eve, even games like rust or ark that are always on top 10 must played game on steam... You didn´t have any Full loot pvp mmorpg Triple AAA or with a strong IP that fail to support your arguments... I can say i have seen more Triple AAA themepark mmorpgs failing than triple AAA mmorpgs with full loot
@@escarretada Why would you make such an easily disproven lie? I just checked Steam's top 10 most played games from 2018-2021 and Rust is on there right now for the past week. Valheim was on there at one point between then and now, but consistently? Nah. Rust, Eve, and Albion haven't been on any of the top 10 lists I just browsed. I'm seeing a lot of articles about these games having large momentary peaks, though. So you're mixing up momentary surges in players with consistent performance.
@@Bladezeromus It's a bit of conflation on their end as well. Just look at the list of games referenced and note how most of them have alternatives play and activities for players to largely avoid the full-loot PvP side of things. So many of the players go long stints without engaging in that content, or do so within the context of a game like Rust within a curated server and framework that cuts out a lot of the excess chaos an MMO equivalent has (still doesn't stop some servers from existing basically to grief newcomers, but smaller servers with friends and clans-only ends up being a massively different experience from an entirely random FFA).
@@monody Pretty much. Same deal with survival games like Conan. The open world PvP servers are mostly dominated by the host's clan and anyone not in their little circle has absolutely no chance. So most players are on the official pve servers.
That actually sounds cool, a mass media online game with an actual risk factor. If it doesn't waste your time like 100% of MMO's it might actually be cool.
Sounds cool but it is not. The starting island will show u all the game has to offer and its the most complete part of the game. I would wait until they actually add features
Played the first one, but don't have enough time nowadays. About subscription : The most played MMO nowaday, FFXIV, is paid and has subscription. When people appreciate the product, if it really delivers, you want to pay. It's so much more interesting than pay-to-win. I'm sure PVP | social experience fans will be ok here. 😉
This is true, however there are some caveats to that. First, FF14 also has a really generous free trial and afaik MO2 doesn't. Second, it's a barrier to entry. And while that's not a huge deal with FF14 because of the trial and it's wider appeal, it can definitely be a problem for a game like MO2 that's a full loot pvp mmo (a niche sub-genre of an already niche genre) where the players ARE the content. Not saying it should be free to play or that sub fee can't work or anything like that. Just saying there's some key differences here. Just because it works for FF14 doesn't mean it will work for MO2.
@Thaal We all have a reason to love a form of art at a moment of our life. "Gamer" is not a tribe, it's a shared passion that should unite us, not divide. Many people, like me, have less time now and just want story telling and small dungeons | bosses in group. Younger, I wanted guild / clan building, conflicts, big fights and diplomacy. Life is change but it doesn't mean we are less "discerning".
It doesn't look like my type of game from the surface, but a lot of what you said makes me more willing to give it a try. I don't like losing things, and I have social anxiety, but it might be nice to build a cabin in the woods and try my hand at some kind of crafting, not causing trouble for anyone, maybe making friends by trading.
As someone who likes OG MMOs, who isn't afraid of loss, who enjoys long grinds, traveling long distances, and prepping for adventures and journeys, I want to play this. BUT, I personally do not like the art style, first-person view, action combat, or PVP, so sadly, I can not see myself playing this game. I hope this does well for those who are into this type of game & I hope it does to help the OG style of MMO as a whole.
It's a game where you will need to group up, make guilds, and interact all the time. It's not like your regular MMO where you mostly play by yourself. And that's not for everyone. And also, a big problem is that it's not a very streamable game, since people will hunt you down all the time. But it's a perfect title for people who likes all interaction/conflict/drama.
@@MDonkin88 the world of mo2 is full of people and you can find RP in it there is guilds that are purely rp. and i would even say that because of how the world works in mo2 the rp feels more real because its the world feels like a living breathing world
This is one of the few reviews from people who really seem to have understood what this is about I feel like MMOs should have had proximity chat 20 years ago
How you described Mortal Online 1 is how I experienced Albion at first. Sounds like a hardcore version of Albion so might check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Games like this look so very attractive to me! Sadly, I am an adult with both a budget and a life. This really doesn't look like something for a dirty casual like me. I do like the fact that the devs have stuck to their guns as far as not allowing microtransactions, and keeping the game a true sandbox. Totally awesome to see this in the current environment. I'll be watching content about it. It certainly is a very pretty game!
I mean i played albion casualy like 2 , 3 hours per day, more in day off and manage to do much more gold gear then one of my friend that play 12 to 16 hours per day, the trick is to be effective during the time you play and in this type of mmorpg if you play less, you lose least
It can still be played casually, there's lots of roleplay and merchant guilds who have little to no expectations of member activity, just chill out and play whenever you feel like it doing whatever you want. In contrast to most MMOs basic sets of gear don't take long to pump out enough to last you a week, and getting your character skilled up to a competitive level takes hours or days instead of months or years as it does in most MMOs.
I want to play this game but I just dont think I am willing to put the time into MMORPG's anymore. I will probably give it a go and see where it takes me (I did play the beta a long long time ago and already own the game, so no cost for entry at the moment). But there is also Zenith on Thursday which I really want to play as well. So it will probably be a battle between the two for me.
vr and mmo, right know its something that will make a big boom and then close for low pop couse vr cost, they are made by small indie dev, and its so sad, but maybe worth some days of playng who know
@@paramboytv7378 its playable on the standalone headset the Oculus Quest 2 - which is only 299 requires just an internet connection. Supposedly it outsold the xbox this 2021... So if it is actually "good" - it should do quite well and not suffer from population issues.
Really needs to be driven home how little getting killed and losing a set of gear means in this game. There's nothing anyone can take from you in MO2 that you can't get back in five minutes, unless you forget to bank your shit before leaving town which is basically the same as playing OSRS walking into the wildy with your entire gold stack. Beyond that there are armies of players who want to play at being cops in this game, defending innocent randoms from gankers.
No. Avoid Mortal Online and Mortal Online 2. they have immature staff perma banning people from the game for complaining about flawed PVP mechanics, griefing, game downtime, login queues, they will even go out the way to have steam customer support remove your reviews and ban you from there as well. It will be a definite waste of money as most players are now seeking refunds!
I actually already played Early Access on Steam. I liked the idea of open world PvP, however the combat felt so clunky and so unrefined, with poor animations and with being very slow in general that I just couldn't get over it to really enjoy the game. It feels much worse than combat in New World. Plus I really wasn't digging the whole "generic medieval fantasy" art style, especially after playing so many other games with it. I just want to see something else other than sword bashing, especially with so few futuristic MMOs. Still, though, people should definitely give this a try, things I dislike may be irrelevant to others and game may still be enjoyable to them.
If you don't like the directional melee combat you might enjoy playing as a beastmaster (similar to ARK, tame pets and command them to attack people) or a mage (plays like a hitscan FPS). From my personal experience the melee combat only felt clunky when I was a total noob and had no clue what I was doing, especially since things like missing your swings are intentionally really punishing, but once you start to get the hang of it melee combat actually feels pretty fluent.
hmmm full loot pvp? a combat system that might encourage medival fighting tactis and formations? no micro transactions? and one dope as hell crafting system? count me the fuck in
@kiratv Do you not find the open world being a little to empty? I recall playing MO1 and my biggest issue is how empty the world was so I was unable to find almost anything. I personally didnt like that there were only 2-3 "farming" spots but the remainder of the world was maybe some pigs. Is that still the case with MO2? I've asked the community and while they will die on the hill of almost any issues people have with the game they are oddly slightly on this one.
@@steveescher1554 it's an allegation. They are selling the game through their own website/launcher. But yea, Steam have currently suspended sales of it until their law suit clears out. Its not the first game Ark devs are suing for theft, they sue anyone they see as a competition. Otherwise the game delivers what's expected of it. If they do refunds it's worth trying it out
Thanks for doing this video. The MMO genre can definitely be more. Your comment about wow players thinking they will lose a month of grinding raids in one death is the impression i get from a lot of people as well. I think it's hard for some people to understand gear acquisition can be different in these kinds of games to account for the loss you will suffer.
Sounds awesome, sadly the forced pvp and constant ganking would ruin for me within the first 2 hours :D. Would love a game that has all but the pvp aspect.
the reputation system will not allow you to kill everyone as much as you like, and the time to restore it will be more expensive than the possible benefit
Not gonna lie, once you said "no microtransactions," I became much more interested in this game. That is so rare for an MMO that it is genuinely praise worthy, and it shouldn't be. If I can play and feel like my progression in all forms isn't being hampered to sell me something, I'll at least give it a try.
Looks very cool.I was playing (with some breaks) 10 years of Eve Online, and some core mechanics here seem the same.Unfortunately my days of MMORPG PvP is behind me, I play at most coop games with a friend against NPCs(and SC2 ladder but its tottaly different, 15 minutes games on average) .Also I hate the fact that around all mmos there is instantly a market of items for real money, so poeple dont have to earn them ingame. So looks cool, but not for me.
I played a ton of mortal online and the thing I liked the most was lockpicking.... Some pvp happened with that but I spent most of my time in a pve experience.
As a MO veteran expected not to be at a complete loss a couple hours in and I was wrong. It's been amazing so far, especially with the population making the island look like it's actually inhabited (beta emptiness still can be seen and I'm a firm believer in "background NPCs" but whatever). I've been told it's worse outside of haven because hardcore guilds just leave their characters afk in guildhalls to keep their spots on the server (and some people report grieffest has already begun) but I can't complain yet. Crafting is looking great too, unfortunately there is a clear meta when it comes to weapons :(
I think full loot isn´t small target, i think you still didn´t had and triple AAA or an big IP doing it right to show to rest of the world how works, like same way battleroyal was a niche some years ago...
@@escarretada I guess I see 'the tried and tested models' which often target more casual players, being safer bets for smaller companies. Though perhaps you're right, *in that there is a larger market than what appears, given sufficient financing.
In regard to games "not holding your hands", I'm with Josh. I expect the game to at least tell me _how_ to do stuff. It doesn't necessarily have to tell me _what_ to do beyond the tutorial, but if the game just goes "you've made your character, figure the rest out yourself", I'm gone. Ain't nobody got time for that.
It actually has a pretty solid tutorial that explains all basic game mechanics, the catch is you have to actually read the tutorial dialogue instead of blindly clicking through it then wondering why you don't understand the thing the game just explained.
I have a lot to say about this game having played it around 30 hours, mostly good but some things can’t be avoided. Just so much to say and I can’t type it all out on a phone. Kira, you rock, the mmo isn’t lame but the interactions I’ve had with moderation and some of the statements the devs have given put a sour taste in my mouth. I think the release should have been managed better, and the game delayed. Simple things that work in every MMORPG like a whisper chat can’t function. Team insists it functions and has had testers, but when confronted by tons of players and screenshots they continue to insist. Inventory item glitches. The like.
full loot pvp games just dont work. people just quit when they lose. and others dont care and just want to ruin what other have. so in the end no one has anything. Its just a breeding ground for frustration, salt and toxicity. But we'll see.
Why would they make it full loot pvp AGAIN?! Didn't the developers admitted during an interview that one of the things led Mortal Online to failure was that the crowd that enjoys full loot pvp was very niche? Ugh, here we go again...
There's a lot more to it than just PVP. It's a sandbox MMO *with* PVP. If you don't like PVP you can just join a PVE/RP/merchant guild (many of which have alliances with PVP guilds for protection) or just hang around town crafting or making potions like my girlfriend does.
Ha, 190 ping that's nothing :) I remember Rail gun battles on the Longest Yard on Quake 3 Arena on the Dreamcast onboard 28k modem, feeling blessed if I was sub 350ms ping times.
Oh man, I remember something like Mortal Online back in the day.. Don't remember what game it was for sure.. I remember spending the larger part of a whole day inside the starter city, killing some weaker mobs and following some sort of tutorial. Then later on entering the wilderness and running into "hunter parties" roaming the lands on mounts. Being a fresh newbie, they actually left me alone and let me watch how they operated. It was fascinating for sure. I even remember traveling a looooong ass way to another huge city, and it being absolutely PACKED with people trading and crafting. I remember always feeling like everything could be stripped away at any moment, and it was kind of a badass experience. It was so fresh and new. Anyone know which game this was? Darkfall? The first Mortal Online? This was ages ago.
MO1 had a lot of base game design pitfalls that made the whole experience worse and tbh it seems like MO2 is the exact same game with a new coat of paint. I hope they have fixed or will fix horrible game mechanics like murdercounts, TC blocking and Rampant balancing issues like Death Knights being OP as shit for minimal investment etc.
Murdercounts are still a thing but work differently to MO1 and may be tweaked further still. TC blocking isn't a thing since now the only walls you can build are for castles which are in predefined locations so you can't block stuff off with them. DK's were eventually nerfed into the ground in MO1 and likely won't be as powerful when they return to MO2
Thank you for this vid. I really enjoy your content, yet it is very refreshing to see you _enjoy_ and _recommend_ something, instead of deconstructing the 5000st scam.
@@KiraTV1 I also just bought the game solely because of your video, despite me swearing never to touch another MMO (used to play Eve Online many years ago, so this is very attractive to me. Been looking for a game without F2P bullshit for a long time and appreciate their subscription model). Curious to check it out and for the first time in my life get in at an MMO launch - cheers!
Sadly this is currently a skip for me. Very interested in the gameplay, but the motion sickness I just get from playing the game for 10 minutes is so bad. Apparently they are not working to remove head bobbing and such. Even watching the video is making me motion sick.
I think a game like MO2 is more like the old school concept of a graphical MUD than an MMO as they exist today. I am one of those people who was really excited by the idea of Darkfall back in the day, and I want to see one of these games succeed.
It is somewhat playable on GTX 1060 3gb, 6GB version will rung it much better though. I played half a year ago on my 1060 3GB, since then game was optimized a lot, but I currently have RTX3070. With RTX 2060 or GTX1080 even 1070 you will run the game. Obviously fights we had like 90vs70 and more will force you to drop details and possibly ressolution heavily to have somewhat decent FPS, but they got money from Epic Games which will speed up their implementation of Unreal Engine 5 into this game, that will help FPS a lot and make game even pretier.
Just a hint, don't buy this game if you live outside of EU. There's only one server and it's located in London. This means that anyone in NA/AU/Asia etc will be at a huge ping disadvantage when playing this game, which is compounded by the fact that it's a hard core pvp mmo. I think it's a great premise but I'm going to have to take a hard pass at trying it because of my 200+ ping handicap.
@@wyqydsyq Anyone who is successful at the game from AU/SEA is still being handicapped by their ping. You can't seriously say with a straight face that those players wouldn't be even better/more dominant if they had a sub 100 ping.
@@BlGGESTBROTHER of course it's not ideal but my point is it's not big enough a difference to preclude you from being competitive and doing well. MO2 is the only game of it's kind on the market and deciding not to play just because you can't have a ping advantage sounds whiny. The devs have already talked about the new continents coming later might have their servers based in US or OCE, if that would keep you happy then you might as well start playing and git gud now.
hardcore pvp mmos pretty much preselect for the most degen video game players on the planet, its all about getting off on ganking and griefing other players at least thats what a lot of them devolve into after the initial launch period
This is not a rough launch. It is fucking disaster. Non existing Q is just a start. I got in once and desync was so brutal i never saw something in my life :D Then you wait for minutes to mount or dismount a horse because the lag is something completely new. 70+ hours in Q.
One thing a LOT of people don't realize is the fact that the world is BIG... almost to a fault. I see new players streaming start leaving a town not realizing the absolutely massive journey they have set on without even knowing. On foot the world feels really really empty, because it takes so long to get from point A to B. Once you get to know the map it makes a bit of sense why the world needs to be so big to prevent people from being able to easily move from city to city. So for those newbies out there, GET A DAMN HORSE, and LEARN RIDING! They might be pricey early launch due to scarcity, but it quickly will stabilize in price. You'll thank me later. Catch you in Myreland -Sinraw
@@Nisenziart pretty sure they said haven will be free to try in the future

@@Zolrain I always do a "recording test" before I record, to make sure the audio and video work. No skips. No stutters. No delays.
I've played Mortal Online 1 since 2015, and now Mortal Online 2 since combat alpha. This game is not like most other MMO's, and you should definitely check it out, worth the time and money investment. Their team is incredibly hard working and passionate about their game. If you don't like the subscription model, keep it in your mind that it not only funds future development but also disincentivize hackers and exploiters from ruining the game.
is combat still crap?
@@BatJeff thats basically what happened to the first game.
@@BatJeff That is true but also a problem Games like this attract Griefers at Launch who ruin the rep of said MMO for new Players and then move on leaving the reputation in ruins of said MMO.
I'm very much interested in that part but very much not in the _full_ loot aspect.
Basicly medieval eve online
Problem is the gank-brigades that exist outside the starter zone. The theory behind everything is nice, but the reality that you have half the population functionally sabotaging the extended experience spells the same problem the original, Darkfall, and others ran into. The game kills off it's own player base.
this is my worry also
Darkfall was killed by darkfall devs, the playerbase just helped it along. Still lasted many years of great times.
@@KiraTV1 So-So. Darkfall died multiple times over under multiple studios. Can't blame one group of devs for that.
It's a bit of an issue with being a self-cannibalizing design.

watch joshstrife review on it. he explained many many things about this game(both mortal online 1 & 2). its a moertal online 1 but with better graphics. so buy mortal online 1 ? the System they put for crafting is complicated and there is no Quests whatssoever. you earn money by selling zombies head get gear up and pvp and die and repeat. its player count super low casue of its complexity . u can pretty much call it a dead sandbox mmo.

Yeah that same review has given me pause, it seems like timing is important, so I can imagine that really screwing up the combat.

Why would you make such an easily disproven lie?

Pretty much.

@@steveescher1554 BS there’s a shit ton to do already, starting island is almost nothing
Tried 3 times to get into ff14. I don't know what it is but I just didn't get pulled in.
The diplomatic part reminded me of Guildwars, we used to join Vent with other Guilds to farm Alliances for Kurzick vs Luxon Wars.
Learn combat then right away! You can defend yourself against a gank if you are patient and know how to fight.
All of this is bad.
@@marshinz5696 for you, doesn't mean it's bad for everyone. ;)

I feel like MMOs should have had proximity chat 20 years ago
Let’s go!!! I can’t wait!! Thanks for the video!
Except pets or mounts :)
@@maciekr4641 you can bank those as well in a stable or sell them for gold as a tamer
Wishing Henrik, the devs, and the community the best with launch!
Love of coverage of games like this. Thanks.
From my personal experience the melee combat only felt clunky when I was a total noob and had no clue what I was doing, especially since things like missing your swings are intentionally really punishing, but once you start to get the hang of it melee combat actually feels pretty fluent.
this looks so good. I never got to play old mmos and always wanted that experience. Im so excited to play something like this now!!!
its full of bots and gold dupe aint kewl
hmmm full loot pvp? a combat system that might encourage medival fighting tactis and formations? no micro transactions? and one dope as hell crafting system? count me the fuck in
@kiratv
Do you not find the open world being a little to empty? I recall playing MO1 and my biggest issue is how empty the world was so I was unable to find almost anything. I personally didnt like that there were only 2-3 "farming" spots but the remainder of the world was maybe some pigs. Is that still the case with MO2? I've asked the community and while they will die on the hill of almost any issues people have with the game they are oddly slightly on this one.
Man I’ve been looking for a replacement for LiF MMO. I really loved the concept behind it and I hope there will be more games like this in the future.
LIF is way better. Just play LIF Your Own. MO2 is a shell of a game and was a total disappointment
2 Days max skill :P Lif is other :/ sorry i waiting too for a nice game like UO or Lif ...
Myth of Empires is what you're looking for as a replacement for LiF, not this garbage
@@lordpasqual3343 Wasnt that game shut down for stealing from Ark? I remember thinking that game looked like a dream come true before hearing that
@@steveescher1554 it's an allegation.
I was on the fence about trying this
now im adding it to my wishlist
I bought it a couple days ago. I also thought it was in a unique space and I'm looking forward to launch.
Love the stories that come out of sandbox games
I would definitely love to try this game and join your guild as well!
Sounds awesome, sadly the forced pvp and constant ganking would ruin for me within the first 2 hours :D. Would love a game that has all but the pvp aspect.
Yeah, plenty of other stuff out there for ya. Pvp ain't for all
the reputation system will not allow you to kill everyone as much as you like, and the time to restore it will be more expensive than the possible benefit
I think that it only would be bad, if you constantly get snapped by someone way higher than you. Like "max Lvl" Players farming the early area.
It's a skill based combat , saw naked guys with shity swords taking down fully steel armored people
Just try it out.
This sounds a lot like EVE! Thanks for making this video i will give it a try
Not gonna lie, once you said "no microtransactions," I became much more interested in this game. That is so rare for an MMO that it is genuinely praise worthy, and it shouldn't be. If I can play and feel like my progression in all forms isn't being hampered to sell me something, I'll at least give it a try.
Monthly sub is basically a macro transaction you get nothing for but them fixing their game, like they had to do over years with MO1 ^^
Ultima Online vibes. I'm buying it. I used to spend entire weekends on UO.
Sounds cool, i loved dayZ for its big map and open PvP looting. The amount it sucks to lose gear is equal to the amount you wish to obtain it.
hope your not expecting an awesome combat experience.
Well explained, Kira. Thanks for supporting Star Vault and their game Mortal Online 2. Subscribed.
Crafting is looking great too, unfortunately there is a clear meta when it comes to weapons :(
It's great to know some devs are willing to target the smaller markets. Will definetly check it out!
I dont have enough time to play it by the sound of it, but I would really like to check it out.
That's how MO1 was. MO2 is much easier to get into for new players and they're continuing to improve that experience.
It actually has a pretty solid tutorial that explains all basic game mechanics, the catch is you have to actually read the tutorial dialogue instead of blindly clicking through it then wondering why you don't understand the thing the game just explained.
I'll follow you Kira, I'm sure I'm not the only one who looks forward to a guild you are running.
This game did not exist on my radar until today. Steam, here I come!
The like.
On there website it said no known issues back in November lol no known issues? the whole game is an issue
full loot pvp games just dont work. people just quit when they lose. and others dont care and just want to ruin what other have. so in the end no one has anything.
This is the first MMO Since Darkfall i'm actually interested in. It's been like 7 years since i played anything seriously
i've been eyeing it up and now that there's no wipes. maybe i'll try to be a blacksmith

I think a game like MO2 is more like the old school concept of a graphical MUD than an MMO as they exist today. I am one of those people who was really excited by the idea of Darkfall back in the day, and I want to see one of these games succeed.
this game is fucking right up my alley
Will need to check this out, if my PC can handle it!
Just purchased. :)
Glad you cover this great game 2.0. GL.
The devs have already talked about the new continents coming later might have their servers based in US or OCE, if that would keep you happy then you might as well start playing and git gud now.

at least thats what a lot of them devolve into after the initial launch period
The game is having a rough launch as per usual mmo launches, but please do give the game a chance once servers stabalize. The game is great
This is not a rough launch. It is fucking disaster. Non existing Q is just a start. I got in once and desync was so brutal i never saw something in my life :D Then you wait for minutes to mount or dismount a horse because the lag is something completely new. 70+ hours in Q.
Don't be frustrated, Kira. At least your fridge is trying to cheer you up!
Catch you in Myreland
