So by her telling Byleth to lead on in her place, not only does she make him the head of the army. But the new emperor. Honestly I would love to see that path but sadly, it’s game over if El dies.

This would have him lose the ability to wield the sword and he'd have to discard it. At the same time it wouldn't take much to make that possible but it wouldn't feel like a "final boss fight". imo you should fight Rhea in the capital and then Thales does something relatively similar to what Edelgard did in BL and that's the final boss, a dark mage demonoid (honestly just thinking about this it would look cool af).

With me it was the opposite because, enjoyed playing all the routes except Edelgard’s because then I had to hurt my dear Seteth, Flayn, Cathrine, Dimitri and Claude. Even though not all of them dies it was still so sad. Though I think Edelgard is a nice person I don’t like what she stands for or how she choose to act to get what she wants.

Rhea herself states in the end of her route that she did genuinely care for humanity and tried her best to keep Fodlan safe. If Rhea didn't care about humanity, she wouldnt have kept the Continent as peaceful as possible after defeating Nemesis. She wouldn't have been as charitable as she was. No, she built a Church that took care of anyone, regardless of class, race, religion etc.

Edelgard being a bi option surprised me, but it makes a lot of sense given how romantic the route is. I'm glad the developers let her be datable as FemByleth, instead of just slapping all the same content on her but then just "gal pal"ing it at the end.

Started this game on Silver Snow -> Azure Moon -> Golden Deer and finally finished Crimson Flower today and I must say, her route is honestly my favorite. After killing her like 3 times (LMAO), playing her route and finally getting to know the real her by the end of her story I can understand where she was coming from
That was my order too and the best one in my opinion. It all starts with Edelgard and ends with her. Not to mention that Byleth regains his humanity and finally has a heartbeat. It was a great send off for the character.

From the first mission in the game when I had to protect her...I knew that she was going to be the one I was going to be with and follow no matter what
Oh god, El is probably my favourite main lord. Nontheless, I had tears in my eyes while playing her route at times. Both because it hurt to kill the students I adored, .... Especially during the scene she and the MC fought the Immaculate One. (Those tears!!! she said it herself that she doesnt cry anymore ... and to see her cry for the MC? god, I was crying too. She really thought she lost the love of her life...) I ramble, but I can't properly express how much I love her.
The bloodiest path is also due to the fact she dont have much time left because double crest side effect. On top of that it is a miracle that she and lysenthia manage to survive past timeskip with double crest thanks to info from lysenthia A support that state the mage told her that her lifespam most likely end less then 5 year. i can only immagine her stress building up and can understand when she snap if byleth not around.
Nah, I played Golden Deer first and I never disliked her, I found her very interesting (and her motivations, background story and connection with TWSITD weren't well explained in GD) - I choosed Black Eagles CF as my 2nd playthrought and now I think she is one of my favorite female characters of all time. Yes, she is flawed, complexe, grey and an Anti-Villain (like Byleth in CF) - and I love her for that. And Claude is a good Bro.
I didnt hate Edelgard until I played Crimson flower CF I find doesnt portray her well. The battles almost seem intended to make you feel like the villain, particularly towards the latter half It also doesnt help her disgraceful mocking of Dimitri before she kills him, and horrible "NO U" dialogue

Then in Edelgards paralouge you protect the Throat and gain the respect and graditude from the Alliance lords. End of the day the war needed to happen to change the world, even in Dimitri and Claudes routes they only gain peace through using the war too

I love the very end of the game where it gives the units their closing story remarks. there was a line in Byleth and Egards where it said something like, rumors swirled about the two of them occasionally leaving the castle to be with each other on a day that wasn’t busy or something like that

The S rank translation was supposed be my dear because that's the most accurate translation giventhe context of the scene. The other comments were right, it was translated wrong. The Japanese S rank was more romantic.
I've played the game like 7 times in a row now and haven't even picked the other houses or Church once for the same reason as you. I can just watch the other routes on youtube and I'm just fine with it. The game is exclusive to her, even if I don't always romance her.
When I first played fe3h I had no idea what I was doing since I was quite new to everything but Edelgard instantly caught my eye. I played CF as my first route and loved it so much (cried multiple times lol) I always loved the support interactions between Byelth and Edelgard so when I found out that I could marry her as F!Byleth I was overjoyed :')))
It would have been even great if we could have somehow found this; Edelgard fights an enemy. Enemy fights back, throwing a crit, leaving Edelgard on 1HP. Edelgard fights again, but the enemy is not downed. Byleth jumps in as an Adjutant Follow-Up and finishes the enemy.
I love my El. I can't deny that playing her path after playing the other two paths brings a horrible tinge of pain to my churning stomach, as clashing with each ideal is my heart reaching out to each character, but El is my one and only, even out of Claude and Dimitri. The fact that female Byleth can marry all three makes me incredibly happy, as I exclusively play my own gender unless I feel the need to go for a character that can only be married as the male protag.
Personnaly i played her route first... And it was damn hard doing claude's(but enjoyable still). I dont think ill ever have the courage to do dimitri's, even if it is a good path.

It has a typical but strong war-story, the Blue Lions characters are cool, Dimitri is a very good protagonist, the world building of Faerghus is interesting and it shows an interesting relationship between Dimitri and Edelgard. Yeah, Edelgard is at her worst in BL but she is still very enjoyable as an antagonist and you can seperate BL-Edelgard with BE-Edelgard if you want since Edelgard is different without Byleth.
@@morganhennessey4440 Male Blythe is the more official version of the character though. They always add the male characters to smash and highlight him more in promotional material. It's most likely for marketing purposes though because men are the primary audience of this game genre. Although nothing is set in stone as canon so people can headcanon their own version of the game.
I love El so much. I couldn't bring myself to play any other path than cf. Only the thought of fighting against her, or even killing her, is just too much.
I was thinking that it would have been a sweet touch if, before timeskip, there was an event that locked you into marrying her and then by doing so, come post timeskip, Edelgard had given birth to a child between her and Byleth. The extra romantic dynamic of them being parents to a kid that was born and grew while professor was comatose would have been appreciated.

People are always saying that Edelgard is a pathetic antagonist and gushing about how holy and justified Dimitri and Rhea are. They never consider Edelgard's reasons for who she is. They always miss the forest for the trees, so focused on her actions that they never see *why* she commits these actions in the first place. I feel that even if people choose the Black Eagle house, they usually go for the Church route and turn against Edelgard. Even my best friend, who I've known since sixth grade, chose Blue Lions over Black Eagles. I sometimes feel that I'm the only person who genuinely prefers the Crimson Flower route. If you also prefer Edelgard's route, leave a reply saying so, so that I can no longer feel that I stop to smell the crimson flowers alone.
AceDelta12 Crimson Flower is easily the best of them. People just don’t understand why what Edelgard did was necessary because they either naively think she could’ve done this through peaceful means, or that her cause itself is unjust and unfair despite the system before already being the worst-case scenario. Either way, these people only scratch the surface of the story, and never think to look deeper within.

To me, it is canon especially with the theme of the game being called Lady of Hresvelg and how much it has of Edelgard talking about Byleth in it. However, I respect anyone who would consider any other route canon.
Edelgard is such a wonderfully flawed character. While she's objectively the most ruthless and tyrannical of all outside of Rhea; two wrongs don't make a right and many of her decisions and the paths taken were shortsighted and from a place of complete arrogance and selfishness. Despite this, she's still my favourite aside from Dorothea. Though, and I guess it's just immaturity and ignorance, her fans being completely blind to the negatives as consequence of supporting her cus she's a hot girl and downplaying everything in favour of extreme whataboutism is pretty WeirdChamp.

Most FE characters throughout history had numerous flaws. Imo the more recent characters become even more deeply flawed but in such a way that it makes them stronger and more influential as characters themselves. I chose Edelgard first and still remains my favorite because she is ruthless yes but she is the one character who is so imperative to not only the story and unification of Fodlan but also for Byleth's character development. She is genuine, independent, and although of course flawed, she is strong and unshakeable. Probably the most relatable character I've seen in FE history.
I like edelgard's ideals but not the motive, I'm kind of hoping if there's going to be a fifth route we're all the Lords i lived to fight to fight TWSITD and the 10 elites.

She doesn't hate the goddess. She hate those in power who control all of Fodlan that are gods, mainly Rhea. Sothis has nothing to do with her hate. She even has the church rebuilt after the war.
I just want to put this out there, bc of the crest experiments she wouldn’t have been able to live long enough to change everything in a peaceful way, plus those peaceful ways Usually don’t last. From evidence from the real world we know that something trying to be changed through a action lasts longer. And to the people who say that her system won’t last after she dies, you are forgetting about Byleth and Hubert and the other black eagles members. We also can take in to consideration who the next ruler would be. I have no doubt that Edelgard would Properly trained the next ruler on what to do and what not to do. And even if all of that is not enough she can just make a decree that can’t be reversed as she dose full over födlan.
Edelgard sacrifice a lot to acomplish this and even if her route is the most villanous one, its the proper one, because it unifies Fodland and byleth returns to himself

Why don’t people argue to say rhea I should’ve had a more peaceful resolve. And even El did not start a war those who slither in the dark would have as there goal is to get revenge. At first I only wanted to marry dorothy but then eldegard put a lot more effort with blythe and painted a portrait and hugged me that I'm like dang this girl loves me. So I married her because I noticed I had more in game moments with her
It's simple, writing a conflict of gray morality is WAY harder to do properly than a one-sided conflict where is easy to tell bad guys from good guys, this is also the reason why people have Claude as their favorite lord, he's written to be family-friendly with everyone, which makes him the most... "charismatic" but not realistic in a war setting. An anime called "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" has two very interesting quotes about it: "There are few wars between good and evil; most are between one good and another good." And "If there are such things as absolute good and absolute evil like there are in TV dramas, I wonder how simple human lives would be".
@@ctmmd3051 honestly someone who helped develop the Adrestian Empire had a hard on for Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's so heavily based on the Goldenbaum Empire it isnt funny. Hell, Hubert and Edelgard both have clear inspirations from GE characters (Paul von Oberstein for Hubert and Reinhard von Lohengramm for Edelgard) in their motivations (revenge against a corrupt society), backstory(Tragic Childhoods) and their methods of carrying out their objectives(Revolution, seizure of power, and the change of society at any cost). The problem is that people aren't really used to characters like that in Fire Emblem. They're used to guys like Garon, and Nergal, and Ashnard and Thales. Characters who are so blatantly evil it's almost comical, while also having characters like Lyn, Eliwood, Ephraim, Corrin, Chrom or Sigurd. Characters who are so "good" they're more or less detached from reality. In Lotgh, Reinhardt was the protagonist, even the hero in a story where there was no real villain because, arguably, everyone was a villain. Society itself, and the people who feed it, was the villain. He could never be that in Fire Emblem. Three Houses shows us that with Edelgard, a character based upon an archetype of characters like Reinhardt. People point to Arvis to compare to Edelgard. The problem is that Arvis was never someone you were supposed to sympathize with. You are never given any motives, any reason, or any idea why he wanted to do what he was trying to do. His first scene is literally him giving a sword to Sigurd and then talking about how much he wants to kill him. He spends the entire first half of the game fucking everything up, and only once his own son gets possessed and usurps him, does he begin to regret anything he did or realize how terrible he really was or even understand why people were revolting against him, even though he wasnt a terrible ruler. If anything, Edlegard is the opposite of Arvis (if you're playing Black Eagles at any rate). As for why people hate her? Its simple really. The game doesn't paint her in a very good light if you aren't going Black Eagles into Crimson Flower, which brings it's own problems like the shorter length and less character development. Then there's all the dialogue of literally every character (including Edelgard herself) being either "OMG how could you possibly side with that bitch?" Or "Wow, you really sided with Edelgard?" By comparison, no character Ever asks you why you didnt side with her in Silver Snow. Not even the characters who probably should ask why. Then you have the fact that Crimson Flower Edelgard is so different from Other Routes Edelgard, that i think some people cant really reconcile they're the same character. After all, if you played Azure Moon first, and then Crimson Flower immediately afterward, would you really think that the thirsty Empress who paints pictures of Byleth in her free time because of how much she misses him is really the same person that turns herself into a demonic monster solely to try and win a hopeless victory and then commits a symbolic suicide when she loses? Even to a fan of crimson flower like myself, it's pretty clear the game wanted you to go Silver Snow.

Started this game on Silver Snow -> Azure Moon -> Golden Deer and finally finished Crimson Flower today and I must say, her route is honestly my favorite. After killing her like 3 times (LMAO), playing her route and finally getting to know the real her by the end of her story I can understand where she was coming from
That was my order too and the best one in my opinion. It all starts with Edelgard and ends with her. Not to mention that Byleth regains his humanity and finally has a heartbeat. It was a great send off for the character.

Oh god, El is probably my favourite main lord. Nontheless, I had tears in my eyes while playing her route at times. Both because it hurt to kill the students I adored, .... Especially during the scene she and the MC fought the Immaculate One.

On top of that it is a miracle that she and lysenthia manage to survive past timeskip with double crest thanks to info from lysenthia A support that state the mage told her that her lifespam most likely end less then 5 year. i can only immagine her stress building up and can understand when she snap if byleth not around.

Nah, I played Golden Deer first and I never disliked her, I found her very interesting (and her motivations, background story and connection with TWSITD weren't well explained in GD) - I choosed Black Eagles CF as my 2nd playthrought and now I think she is one of my favorite female characters of all time. Yes, she is flawed, complexe, grey and an Anti-Villain (like Byleth in CF) - and I love her for that.

When I first played fe3h I had no idea what I was doing since I was quite new to everything but Edelgard instantly caught my eye. I played CF as my first route and loved it so much (cried multiple times lol) I always loved the support interactions between Byelth and Edelgard so when I found out that I could marry her as F!Byleth I was overjoyed :')))

I love my El. I can't deny that playing her path after playing the other two paths brings a horrible tinge of pain to my churning stomach, as clashing with each ideal is my heart reaching out to each character, but El is my one and only, even out of Claude and Dimitri. The fact that female Byleth can marry all three makes me incredibly happy, as I exclusively play my own gender unless I feel the need to go for a character that can only be married as the male protag.

It has a typical but strong war-story, the Blue Lions characters are cool, Dimitri is a very good protagonist, the world building of Faerghus is interesting and it shows an interesting relationship between Dimitri and Edelgard. Yeah, Edelgard is at her worst in BL but she is still very enjoyable as an antagonist and you can seperate BL-Edelgard with BE-Edelgard if you want since Edelgard is different without Byleth.

It's most likely for marketing purposes though because men are the primary audience of this game genre. I was thinking that it would have been a sweet touch if, before timeskip, there was an event that locked you into marrying her and then by doing so, come post timeskip, Edelgard had given birth to a child between her and Byleth. The extra romantic dynamic of them being parents to a kid that was born and grew while professor was comatose would have been appreciated.

People are always saying that Edelgard is a pathetic antagonist and gushing about how holy and justified Dimitri and Rhea are. They never consider Edelgard's reasons for who she is. They always miss the forest for the trees, so focused on her actions that they never see *why* she commits these actions in the first place. I feel that even if people choose the Black Eagle house, they usually go for the Church route and turn against Edelgard. Even my best friend, who I've known since sixth grade, chose Blue Lions over Black Eagles. I sometimes feel that I'm the only person who genuinely prefers the Crimson Flower route.
If you also prefer Edelgard's route, leave a reply saying so, so that I can no longer feel that I stop to smell the crimson flowers alone.

Crimson Flower is easily the best of them. People just don’t understand why what Edelgard did was necessary because they either naively think she could’ve done this through peaceful means, or that her cause itself is unjust and unfair despite the system before already being the worst-case scenario. Either way, these people only scratch the surface of the story, and never think to look deeper within.

Edelgard is such a wonderfully flawed character. While she's objectively the most ruthless and tyrannical of all outside of Rhea; two wrongs don't make a right and many of her decisions and the paths taken were shortsighted and from a place of complete arrogance and selfishness. Despite this, she's still my favourite aside from Dorothea. Though, and I guess it's just immaturity and ignorance, her fans being completely blind to the negatives as consequence of supporting her cus she's a hot girl and downplaying everything in favour of extreme whataboutism is pretty WeirdChamp.

Most FE characters throughout history had numerous flaws. Imo the more recent characters become even more deeply flawed but in such a way that it makes them stronger and more influential as characters themselves. I chose Edelgard first and still remains my favorite because she is ruthless yes but she is the one character who is so imperative to not only the story and unification of Fodlan but also for Byleth's character development. She is genuine, independent, and although of course flawed, she is strong and unshakeable. Probably the most relatable character I've seen in FE history.

I just want to put this out there, bc of the crest experiments she wouldn’t have been able to live long enough to change everything in a peaceful way, plus those peaceful ways Usually don’t last. From evidence from the real world we know that something trying to be changed through a action lasts longer. And to the people who say that her system won’t last after she dies, you are forgetting about Byleth and Hubert and the other black eagles members. We also can take in to consideration who the next ruler would be. I have no doubt that Edelgard would Properly trained the next ruler on what to do and what not to do. And even if all of that is not enough she can just make a decree that can’t be reversed as she dose full over födlan.
Edelgard sacrifice a lot to acomplish this and even if her route is the most villanous one, its the proper one, because it unifies Fodland and byleth returns to himself

It's simple, writing a conflict of gray morality is WAY harder to do properly than a one-sided conflict where is easy to tell bad guys from good guys, this is also the reason why people have Claude as their favorite lord, he's written to be family-friendly with everyone, which makes him the most... "charismatic" but not realistic in a war setting. An anime called "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" has two very interesting quotes about it: "There are few wars between good and evil; most are between one good and another good." And "If there are such things as absolute good and absolute evil like there are in TV dramas, I wonder how simple human lives would be".
@@ctmmd3051 honestly someone who helped develop the Adrestian Empire had a hard on for Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's so heavily based on the Goldenbaum Empire it isnt funny. Hell, Hubert and Edelgard both have clear inspirations from GE characters (Paul von Oberstein for Hubert and Reinhard von Lohengramm for Edelgard) in their motivations (revenge against a corrupt society), backstory(Tragic Childhoods) and their methods of carrying out their objectives(Revolution, seizure of power, and the change of society at any cost).
The problem is that people aren't really used to characters like that in Fire Emblem. They're used to guys like Garon, and Nergal, and Ashnard and Thales. Characters who are so blatantly evil it's almost comical, while also having characters like Lyn, Eliwood, Ephraim, Corrin, Chrom or Sigurd. Characters who are so "good" they're more or less detached from reality. In Lotgh, Reinhardt was the protagonist, even the hero in a story where there was no real villain because, arguably, everyone was a villain. Society itself, and the people who feed it, was the villain. He could never be that in Fire Emblem. Three Houses shows us that with Edelgard, a character based upon an archetype of characters like Reinhardt.
People point to Arvis to compare to Edelgard. The problem is that Arvis was never someone you were supposed to sympathize with. You are never given any motives, any reason, or any idea why he wanted to do what he was trying to do. His first scene is literally him giving a sword to Sigurd and then talking about how much he wants to kill him. He spends the entire first half of the game fucking everything up, and only once his own son gets possessed and usurps him, does he begin to regret anything he did or realize how terrible he really was or even understand why people were revolting against him, even though he wasnt a terrible ruler. If anything, Edlegard is the opposite of Arvis (if you're playing Black Eagles at any rate).
As for why people hate her? Its simple really. The game doesn't paint her in a very good light if you aren't going Black Eagles into Crimson Flower, which brings it's own problems like the shorter length and less character development. Then there's all the dialogue of literally every character (including Edelgard herself) being either "OMG how could you possibly side with that bitch?" Or "Wow, you really sided with Edelgard?" By comparison, no character Ever asks you why you didnt side with her in Silver Snow. Not even the characters who probably should ask why. Then you have the fact that Crimson Flower Edelgard is so different from Other Routes Edelgard, that i think some people cant really reconcile they're the same character. After all, if you played Azure Moon first, and then Crimson Flower immediately afterward, would you really think that the thirsty Empress who paints pictures of Byleth in her free time because of how much she misses him is really the same person that turns herself into a demonic monster solely to try and win a hopeless victory and then commits a symbolic suicide when she loses? Even to a fan of crimson flower like myself, it's pretty clear the game wanted you to go Silver Snow.

Considering in Fire Emblem: Fates when they shown DLC (which it considered canon), so I won't be surprised if they'll do the same in Three Houses, and brighter side, I'll have to teach all of students.

Personally, I can't quite understand why so many people ship Edelgard with F! Byleth.
I assume because they're both cute girls plus LGBT representation.
Personally I don't care for that ship either.
