Great little tip, thanks! Just popped down to the wreckers and picked myself up one and it worked a treat. As a bonus, if you want to keep the original two switch but have the auto down feature you can pop out the little plastic clips and swap the circuit board half with the respective top half, and then you've got your original switch layout with the extra feature if that makes sense. Just a little something I tried, thought I'd share if it helps anyone!
@Ford Merc Guy Yeah it's pretty easy, you've just got to make sure you put the little see-saw like things that make the circuit board and buttons work back in their spot and you're good to go :)
I bought replacement on EBAY "Black Power Window Switch with backlit" for about $20.00. But the drivers window AUTO button, when you press it for DOWN once , it didn't stop, so I had to tap again to stop it or the motor would burn out. Other times it worked fine. Maybe I bought a dud. Careful pulling it out & putting it back in you need to angle it slightly & I had trouble pulling the wiring harness out from the old unit (so I got my bro to do it for me).😆
@@FordMercGuy OMG! Hubby presses switches so hard, he pushed the unit inside the (door handle surround). Leaving the cover with (4 Clips) attached to the (DHS) & snapping slightly one of the clips. I got the frame out (as per vid) & clicked the (4 clips) back onto the unit, fits well, at least it still works 🤣
@@FordMercGuy hey bro I went to the wreckers and got one really nice condition. Working great only $20. What other videos/ideas do you have coming up for the b series falcons?
I don't have a falcon handy these days but hoping to time up to show how to do DRL install and also factory fog light install into the bumper, probably with aftermarket working. Let's see.
Half tempted to do this on my BA Ute, though often I only want to crack open the window and not have it roll all the way down. But other times I do want it all the way down. Who knows. There really needs to be a feature where the car reads my mind, or just talks to me like KITT. Of course on the ute I'd then have two switches for windows that don't exist. 🙃
Pressing the button again as it's going down stops it in its tracks. Or just tapping the button quickly (not just holding it) keeps cracking the window down mate
Never been a fan of auto drivers side window down, maybe if you are one that likes drive thoughs. My goto for air circulation is passenger front and driver rear, open them both a bit.
A little creature Comfort it is handy when can save the extra 5 Seconds of holding it all the way down and spend 5 seconds doing something else😜 Yes that window trick does work well I use it myself
Hey mate cheers for the request! So are you chasing how to install fog lights into the front bumper bar? Factory fog lights would be from a Fairlane I guess. Unless you have an Xr6 front end for the factory Xr6 fog lights
@@FordMercGuy pretty much, the mk3 wagons had a mix of setups , mates xt had provisions for factory lights, just needed to pop the blank out of the bar ad put in fairmont units , wiring loom and relays were already there . My bf mk3 has none if the wiring , but has the pop out blanks , tho an xr swap is on the cards . Got the switch gear , but having a goto ref for the wagon fans online as to how to do it ( with aftermarket bits or factory ) woukd be awesome . Your channels been my goto so far for driver footwear lights , headlight buzzer and a few other bits , keep up the epic work :)
Thanks mate! Glad my Vids could be of help. For sure, I'll add, adding fog lights aftermarket/factory to my subscriber video request list. Maybe something i can get round to one day for you guys!
I have the 2004 BA XT sedan, and noticed a cut-out on the edges for fog lights, Ive always wanted to install the upgraded Ghia fog lights, it would be great if you did a video. I read awhile back that this job isn't easy, but i could be wrong.
@lobster If you can get the genuine fog light housing get it, I wouldn't bother trying to run factory wiring etc, run your own to your own switch. I like that panel on right side of steering column had a little blank plate on non adjustable brake pedal height model cars.
I tried that one brother, only worked in an SR model BF Falcon. unfortunately the XT models I have access to don't have the wiring in the harness to give power to light up the switch.
There you go! I think the SR model is close to Xr6 model perhaps similar wiring throughout the car as I've seen Xr6 models with the light up switches too.

Ah sweet. I might do this on my ute.
That's a great idea
Thanks for the idea. Just swapped out the bottom half's and worked perfectly in my falcon. Hardest bit was balancing the see-saw switch things

Oh wow mate! Yeah gotta be careful, very fragile plastics in the handle
Interesting mate. Maybe that new switch panel you got is bad

Anna! Oh lordy, glad you managed to salvage the situation! Doesn't help the door handle plastics are very fragile.
@@FordMercGuy I know I told him twice now...Third time I may have to upgrade a new model Hubby..I'll keep the car it's been pretty reliable..🤣
Awesome vid!!! 🎉

Previously had a BF LPG Euro sport. Same thing only 2 switches. Wish I knew that back then
LPG Euro sport? Euro sport! I haven't heard of that one before.

dude this is so good, thanks for this. Now gotta fine one to install

You could put in an XT model 2 switch version but then you'd also lose the rear windows control from the driver control area.
