      1300 kg
      1300 watts

      Elon musk cars have over 500 to 600 miles range 😏
      Change rpm to 1:1 can give us over 9x higher range which is over 4500 to 5400 miles per charge and I m not talking about using and transmission system which easily boosts the range of any Tesla cars over 13,000 to 24,000 miles in single charge 😏
      But they r not going to do it cuz it’s very low profitable business and elon musk wants only money money money 😂
      That’s y he is not supporting hydrogen cuz it’s even less money money money 🤣

      I’m very interested to see who ends up being the main audience for this car. I think it’s super cool and appreciate how much they’re pushing the boundaries, it I see issues for potential owners.
      Owners who live in an urban environment likely will have problems with limited sunlight because they’re parking in parking garages or on roads with tall buildings. Owners that are more rural might have longer commutes so range anxiety might be an issue.
      Like I said, I think it’s really cool tech, but plugging in my current EV is so easy that I’m not really sure what issue this car is “solving” for me.
      But maybe I’m just so obviously not the target audience that I can’t understand.

    • @fotoguru222
      @fotoguru222 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SaveMoneySavethePlanet About 40% of people in the USA, old city home owners and renters, condo and apartment dwellers mostly, don't have dedicated parking spots for their cars. That's a big market right there. Even in open shade you'd be recharging your Aptera, slowly. Charging at home, on the road, while shopping and at work. And if you need more than the Sun has to give, plugging it in will give you twice the miles per minute of any other EV. (Well, except for eBikes.)

    • @SaveMoneySavethePlanet
      @SaveMoneySavethePlanet 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fotoguru222 fair enough, I could see where that may be the case. I do however rent in a city and don’t have the ability to plug in every night as a result. The thing that’s enabled me to have an EV is that my city has pushed hard to install lots of charging stations all over the place. So I can drop my car off to charge and then go back to my apartment and live my life for 4 hours while I wait.
      Maybe Aptera tech will remove that need, but I’m not sure I have enough of an ability to park in direct sunlight. It’ll be interesting to see sales launch and see what the practical results are from the first round of owners!

      @@SaveMoneySavethePlanet IMHO the audience will differ. Some will want it for their daily commute, others for shopping and doing errands around town. It'd also make for a great vehicle for medium to small deliveries. But, in my case, I drive a lot for my job. Every other week I drive across several states. With the camper package I will not need to worry about lodging *kaching!* and also even if I drive across 4 states and stay there for an week I will have enough juice to drive back without ever having stopped to plug it in. If my drive is a several day drive and I would need to plug her in, which I have about 2x/year, this vehicle charges at such a speedy rate that I will have more than enough juice (at a rate of up to 500 miles per hour of charge!). So, I could simply plug it in during nature breaks with no time wasted. And, at a federal mileage reimbursement rate of about 53 cents per mile then this basically becomes more than a free vehicle, but one that actually pays you back! Plus it will be fun. I also plat to take it into the woods and use it for camping for fun. For that I have also selected the Off-Road Package. It really helps alleviate range anxiety. So, for me, it's not only practical and functional for what I need, I will also enjoy it for personal use. But this is just me. Everyone else will have a different motive.

    I absolutely love this concept, I don't think the solar would work so well here in a UK winter, but it'd still add something especially if you don't use it every day, I think small efficient cars just make so much sense for commuting as a 1.5 ton car to move a 80kg driver is worse payload than a lot of rockets! You are so right - and I would add from my point of view: If you live in the countryside and work mostly home office, this car would be OK almost everywhere and anytime - without any charging.
      Even the half range, 20 miles a day would then probably be enough to transport f.e. a child somewhere, to visit friends at their homes or at a pub, see a doctor/dentist and to do some shopping once a week or twice a month.
      100-150 miles per week seems perfect to me...

      In the UK, for example, theres no problem, as long as they mainly charge late evenings through to early morning, which is very doable with cheaper rate electricity incenting users, that is already the go to for most UK EV drivers . (The UK's National Grid has officially stated this)
      Theres plenty of excess power produced at night indeed theres even the problem of curtailment where they literally pay power plant operators, such as wind farms, to shut down as the grid cant always take that power. Cars would soak that up without any need to pay generators not to produce electricity which is peverse. There will also be a lot of electricity saved by not refining so much fossil fuels, that uses a lot of electricity ..

    Having owned and and operated a high tech engineering company, I keep my 3 Mercedes in the garage so that the materials don't degrade over time, ie, the paint. tires, inside parts that the sun can get to. I'm retired and now live in the California desert area. Although this is a great concept, I would look into UV materials as polymers can degrade over time. I would also recommend washing once a week if kept outside. Would be great for running around town though!

    I have been looking at the Aptera for several weeks before this video. Based on what I have seen and learned, I really love it. I'd love to buy one because of the cost of purchase, maintenance, and recharging. Unfortunately because of the low ground clearance and wheel covers, the car does not look like it can handle the snowstorms in New England when the snowfall is greater than 6 inches. What I really like is that it can be recharged with household 110 V .

      It's really not hard to install a 240 volt outlet. A lot of people already have one in their garage or elsewhere for large electric appliances. There are many changes already made in the betas they are testing now, including a much more compliant and quieter suspension. Along with making it smoother and quieter, they have also further improved the handling, and these are going to be a LOT of fun to drive- especially measured against any previous "economy" car.

Bonded to a carbon composite substrate, the applications like body paint that also charges is very exciting. Once we get batteries way, way down in weight, the savings that trickle down to all the other systems compound efficiency like you wouldn't believe.

However for Upper States and lower Canada, Nope (maybe never intended for us). Even in all wheel drive the tires seem to small and not enough body clearance for snow due to the body molding for reduced drag. Not to mention (but I am) Battery insulation and a required heat pump of some sort. So limited market and further limited by support infrastructure possible even in other southern states? Yet I still have my fingers crossed for them.

The ABS/Traction control is superior to perhaps every other car on the road, being able to sense slip and adjust torque about every 2.5 inches of tread travel.

      Aptera is all in on right to repair. If you need to get something fixed, they'll ship you the part, and offer the procedure/schematics. At which point you can choose to do it yourself, or take it to an autoshop.

    Will it have reverse charging also? Maybe charge other thing in the house the days you don't use the car or anything if you are on longer trips?

    I work during the day in South Texas; I would be able to drive to Corpus Christi and back after work.

    It looks like you are going to feel all the bumps on road and get outside noise in cabin. I hope they fix it before going for production.

    Hope it makes it to market , price will be a significant factor , niche market , so could replace or compete with motor bikes , would love one could replace a second or third vehicle.

    As a cyclist riding carbon fiber bicycles I always wondered how much more efficient cars could be if they were much lighter and more aerodynamic. Those are "free" gains if built into design and materials of construction from an efficiency of transportation standpoint. Add in electric motors and the the "free" nuclear fusion power plant in our sky and you have the full holistic complement of efficiency and benefits to the environment.

    how do they plan to address maintenance? Where could you service tires and brakes?

      Aptera grants right to repair. The repair documents will be available for free to everyone. Service of tires and brakes will be just like any other vehicle, as long as they follow the lift instructions. Aptera is aiming for 24 hour turnaround on parts shipments and will have traveling repair teams, especially for warranty work.
