Ive lived in big cities and small towns over the years, but always come back to the Rogue Valley. The weather is great because it has 4 seasons, none of which are extreme. Id take grants pass over medford because i like the old town feel, and smaller population. As for the antique shops, they seem to be turning to more thrift shops it seems. Ive been buying and selling antiques for over 30 years, and seen the change happening. Ill be buying and existing antique store on january 1st and thats when i really noticed how the others changed.
You should have seen GP in 1986 when it won All American City. Still looks better than the rumors had me thinking it was. I heard Riverside Park fell to the homeless. 😢
I miss GP yea it’s got its problems but mind your business and do you you’ll be fine there’s lots of good people in gp to it’s just depends on what crowd you choose to hang out with 😂 I live in the country in California now outside of Stockton come to Stockton if you think gps bad but again I’ve met good people in Stockton too you are who you hang out with I have great memories growing up in GP
Grants Pass used to be a beautiful place to buy a home and retire, but in the last year it has a serious homeless problem all around our parks, high crime, drug use, now folks can’t even sell their home and move away, glad I don’t live near any parks
Thank you for the feedback! Homelessness is definitely a key issue across the country and the entire state of Oregon, with Eugene actually leading the nation. I'm not aware of any city in the west that doesn't experience the same challenges GP has faced. In the grand scheme of things, and comparing to other cities, my opinion is that GP has done a good job of acknowledging the problem with parks and such, and has taken steps to remedy it. It's not perfect, but it's certainly better than other cities like Eugene, Salem, Portland, etc.
@BuyingSouthernOregon one of my only concerns is that Oregon has legalized marijuana use...clearly a gateway drug to other harder drugs...perhaps that is the reason for the increase in homelessness and drug use.
The Starlite area may have beautiful views to enjoy, but the homeowners were supposed to plant trees so the town occupants would have nice views as well. Because no one followed through for getting this done, and the Starlite better than though group wouldn't of there own accord follow through.
Umm what are you talking about? This is really what concerns you about GP? There’s actually a quite a few hazardous dying trees that need to be removed from Starlite.
Could you do a video in the politic landscape and policies of southern Oregon? As in, is it liberal like Portland? More conservative? Somewhere in the middle?
That's a good question. I try to stay away from politics as much as possible in my videos. In general, Southern Oregon is more conservative. Ashland is the exception. Below are a couple good resources you can take a look at to find out more. www.bestplaces.net/voting/county/oregon/jackson www.bestplaces.net/voting/county/oregon/josephine
Currently the Grants Pass area is serviced by only Republicans in the Federal Congress and Senate, which suggests a strong conservative part of Oregon. A plus for my wife and myself. We are currently living about a half hour NE of Houston Texas...and would prefer a more laid back country type lifestyle when we come home from our travels as pro-life speakers ( my wife miraculously survived her mother's abortion attempt on her life 55 years ago this month)!
How about rental property? What are rental homes going for per month? We currently live in a one bed one bath tiny home in Montgomery County Texas, but want to upside a bit
@@cyh4031 You've made it pretty clear that you don't want to live west of the Divide LOL Don't come here. We mix republican and democrat in every single household. I'm looking for somewhere quiet. Grants Pass does look promising. I'm literally surrounded by neighbors that feel the need to blast their music for the whole neighborhood constantly. I would hope that's not an issue here.
I am a G Pass resident who has neighbors who blast their music outside (my back yard) regularly. BUT I have never lived somewhere that this doesnt happen. I live with it. I retired here from Medford and absolutely love it. If I was a young adult I would find it a bit boring.
Hi Phillip! I do know a good amount about the rental market from the standpoint of helping investors purchase rental properties, but since I only focus on buying and selling, so I don't really keep an eye on homes that are available for rent. Are you looking to invest in a rental property or looking to rent a home to live in?
@@BuyingSouthernOregon my wife and I are looking to relocate from Phoenix to Oregon in the next few months. Without being 100% sure of what city/town to settle in we are considering renting while we get familiar with the area.
@@phillipsalgado8257That's a great idea! Most people I've talked to about rentals have found them on Facebook Marketplace or with one of the local property management services.
Crime and homelessness is BAD in GP. I grew up there and constantly would see people on drugs, and had to deal with them all the time as a teen and young adult at my first jobs. Cleaning up human feces, needles, calling the cops to take people out of our business, ect.
Gp needs a new hs bad!! 3 rivers hands down. All the priv school in gp are religious based. The one that wasnt, brighton academy was bought out by a christian school
My niece is graduating from GP next year. It's been an amazing experience. It's a much better hs than it was in the 80's. It's beautiful. The teachers are amazing. The band, the squad, the teams every one has been awesome. Maybe experiences vary but if your kid wants to be a part of something - GP has it.
@kjpcgaming9296 that's awesome you and ur family did good at the hs here. I found it way too large for my son. That said it appears that they have alot of opportunities that a child could benefit from IF they're intrinsically motivated and have good families like u! Since Brighton just closed up were headed to reach charter. Wish us luck😊
We don't have gang violence in GP you're thinking of Medford I think. I've lived here since the 60's. Yeah every town in America has a drug problem. This isn't especially different in GP.

I'm 64 born in G.P. Love my town...
I miss it here!! Lived in GP till I was 23. Been about 3 years in Nevada now and I miss it dearly.
I have lived in Grants Pass for 3 years and love the beauty if it. It is a bit pricey though, only because I bought during the pricey pandemic though
