They did such a fantastic job of refurbishing them. They're also way better than the 375's in my opinion although both the 395 and 375 trains are good. (Exept for the 375/9's with the 3+2 Configuration) Southeastern are improving so much now.
I guess the turquoise works for accessibility, with it being a more contrasting colour, although it now does remind me of the DLR scheme somewhat. I personally liked the SE Blue with lilac/grey contrast though ,it feels soft on the eyes, which is welcome on the early morning commute!
8:35 The River Medway - the factor that separates a Kentish man or maid from a man or maid of Kent, depending on which side you were born on - can’t remember which, as I’m not from Kent, but Middlesbrough!
I love everything about the Javelins, old and refurbished, but I most like the fact that you don't have to go through a bustling crowded station to find it. The escalators and lifts are right next to the entrance, next to Kings Cross. Not to mention it only takes 54 minutes to reach Folkestone!
Omg I love the works done at St Pancras, I regularly use the HS1 line but often jump off at Stratford International, those new passenger information boards are like night and day compared to the old ones. And good to see that the Javelins now have USB-A *and* USB-C ports, a great improvement. I didn't like the turquoise at first, but it looks great against the green Kentish countryside it's barreling through, and makes the cabin look a lot brighter when the train is in a tunnel. I'd say it's an improvement over the grey and dark blue predecessor. Great video as always.
You did a great job introducing me to this new interior refurb, of what is really my favourite train! Before my redundancy at lockdown, I often rode this stock when I went from our London office to Canterbury Cathedral for equipment maintenance. One of my biggest thrills is when, soon after it leaves Stratford, it accelerates up to 140mph, all before it exits the tunnel into the Kent "countryside"! And still such a smooth ride! And, yes - quieter than the Elizabeth Line, which only reaches around 60mph (so I'm told), in it's respective tunnel. Great new departure signs, too! The old ones were getting to look somewhat dated!
Hello there, the refurbishment has featured the alteration of the seat backs - the original plain blue seats had ripples in them, The refurbished seat backs are more flat, that is they do not have the ripples in them. Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire.
I never ridden a javelin train in my life. My point view is that both interiors, the old and new, are very good. But if I had to pick an option, I would go for the refurbished interiors
I was on this on Tuesday, and tweeted a photo ... the plugs now have USB ports too!. It's very nice and about time as the existing stock is getting very grubby.
A lot better than the previous 'shades of grey' incarnation, which I didn't think much of. You build an amazing space age supertrain and someone decided on a bland grey/dull blue interior. Maybe this was British understatement or maybe commuters like grey? Either way, it all seemed a bit sad.
I was lucky this morning for this train to pull into my station on the way to work so got to experience the refurbished interior! I usually take the rear 6-cars but saw the rainbow car-set arrive so went to the front 6-cars to enjoy the new look :D
St Pancras is a lovely station and the signage is a big improvement. However even the old information boards were much better than the confusing mess that is Gard du Nord and Montparnasse Stations
Question: Why do the window seats on one side of the carriages have lift-up armrests, while the ones on the opposite side are fixed? - There must be a reason, but although I've been using the Javelins ever since their introduction I've never been able to fathom it out. Can anybody help?
would have look nice with a gray strip down windows like old BR intercity and it units it replace CEPS CIGS 411 / 421 i think the class 395 and 375 are a good replacements . and better then the 350 444 450 .
Nice looker, but the network needs to improve. I used the service from Gravesend to St.Pancras a couple of months ago, it arrived in Gravesend 15 minutes late and a couple of carriages short. I had to stand the whole way (ok, only 15min or so, but that's not the point - I would not expect the first off-peak service of the day to be that late and so overcrowded). My return in the evening was also late and also standing room only, but at least I arrived early and got a seat. So for me, the hard product (the rolling stock itself) is fine but the soft product (quality of service) has room for improvement.
Truthfully. As long as the seat is comfortable am not bothered really on regonal or local services. I have my massive battery bank am not bothered about plugs or usbs provided. This all really only effects me when I am long distance.
while it’s undeniable that Southeastern have done a great job of refurbishing their high speed trains, I can’t help feeling resentful that the same amount of attention isn’t being given to their metro trains, most of which are severely out of date and desperately need their own refurb at least or complete replacement altogether.
The reason why the networkers haven't been given a refurb is because they are going to be replaced as SE put out an order for 600 carriages in 4 car formations. The 376s are due to be refurbished once the last javelin has been refurbished
Looks identical to every Javelin I've been on since the early 2010s... with the exception of the teal accents which I wouldn't say classes as a 'refurbishment'?.
Do UK commuters or the people in general take care of their trains? Or do they scratch seats, walls, break mirrors, break toilets and paint or draw graffiti on them?
It looks pretty good. Interesting that you mentioned the seats being more comfortable than LNER. For a journey of 40 minutes or so, perhaps on-board refreshment is not needed. My only quibble would be the revolting rainbows that seem to be plastered over trains, these days. These seem to be very good trains, but they could be even more useful with the Marshlink line electrified with 3rd. rail for access to Hastings. The indicator board at St. Pancras does look good, but I still think the station itself is a triumph of hype over practicality.

theres still some problems with staffing at stations and (i think) frequencies on se ldn metro services through woolwich etc
those are only semi fasts like SWR to Portsmouth basically and not high speed like the javelin and eurostar
3+2 seating is the worst 😭🙏
Why are people leaving large suitcases in the aisle when there are perfectly good luggage racks? 🙄
I ask myself that every time I get the train to London. It's on almost every carriage...

8:22, the only times i utilised the Eurostar service were from this station, its a shame to hear that they no longer call at ebbsfleet

I hope they do the same to the Class 8xx family. The 395 seats are miles better than the 8xx

I like how they feel more like a southeastern train and less like a dental practice

3:55 that area of the train with the toilet and the seats reminds me of what the class 385 train has
I am still yet to go on the refurbished 395
St Pancras to Ashford Int. 39 mins (51 miles) - Manchester Picc to Leeds 1 hour 15 minutes (36 miles).
London to Shepperton, 54 minutes (19 miles)
London to Hertford, 51 minutes (22 miles)
Both are very slow, as examples
Lonxon to liverpool lime street 2 hour 24 min london to milton keynes 28 min London to luton 20 min
Where did you get the speed app?

I’d heard they were doing it but I didn’t know it was this soon. My only concern of a change is the seats
But I’ll see if it’s good first
The Javelins sneezed when they coupled 😂
What app did you use to measure the train speed?
9:08 what is the app that you are using?
I actually saw 395012 today at faversham! I ran on to see before i got off

Some days I come to train spot and eat crossiants at stpancras and watch Eurostars depart with it encredible sounds
What speedometer app are you using for your videos?
Nice trains, comfy seats and they definitely look a little less bland after the refurbishment.
There is an expected return date to Ashord/Ebbsfleet Int'l, 'at least 2025' is what Eurostar are saying.

Nice video, but I'm sure you wanted to say "speeds of up to 225 km/h" instead of "speeds of up to 140 mph" :)
The new departure are so much better than the old one

I would like to travel on such a train here in Hungary. But it remains just a dream for us.

Fantastic video
Do they have ticket inspectors on these trains?
They have on board managers.
USB charging in the wheelchair area is a welcome change. There used to be nothing here

What in the fuck, preferred the old look, the grab poles colour reminds me of the 360 not the high speed javelin
The mans face at 7:49.
Oh I just commented on this too.😂
I have never seen a train retract its foreskin before.
That train looks kinda guy. Avoid riding inside of it.
