I can't wait to try this. It will be the first time I've ever eaten them and I grew them myself :) (mine look like yours so it may have been left slightly too long as I didn't know when to pick them before).
There's a MUCH BETTER way! This way you lost about half of the heart! 😭 Please, next time, eat all if the leaves first, or pull them all off, then take a spoon or the side of the fork and gently scoop off ONLY the fluffy part of the the choke, it will separate easily leaving behind the perfect heart, intact. There's a lot of delicious 'meat' there. You could also just pinch and pull the fluffy part and it will separate the same. 😀 Next time try it this way and you'll have much more yummy goodness. I cook them in a very similar manner, only I steam them whole. I first prepare them by cutting about an inch off the top, this allows it to open up as well as snipping off the pointy tips of the larger leaves. Then drizzle in olive oil salt and garlic down into the leaves over top. (Sometimes we slice garlic cloves and wedge a few in between the leaves.) Steam until you can very easily pull off a leaf. Dip in melted butter 😋 yum! I've been eating them this way for about 50 years and it's the only way I want them. Artichokes are my most favorite vegetables, I'd take a dozen artichokes over a dozen roses anyday! So remember, be gentle on the heart and carefully scoop out the choke while you're enjoying the fruits of your labor... You deserve it! 😉
I have 18 of them growing here in Hawaii, I harvested 3 last week. 👌
That is awesome!
Can’t wait to start and I will eat them but I wanted to grow them for the foliage in my perrenial garden. I’m in zone 9 a, wish me luck!
You can do it! Good luck!
I love artichokes!! Try stuffing them Italian style. Mmmmm
I love them also, we are planting more this year.
I’m in the panhandle of Florida it’s so hard to find gardening advice for south Alabama / panhandle of Florida areas! Thank you !!!

They are healthiest just cooked in water.. no fat added. They are freshest when the leaves are still closed tightly.. not opened.
Growing artichoke this year in the garden. Hopefully by next year I will get a great harvest
That's great, good luck. I have to plant new plants this year.
Thank you so much for sharing I did know how to eat artichokes! Thanks
Be sure to add a few to your garden! Thank you for watching!

What did the choke part taste like that you said it was a little too mature? Thanks for your help.
You don’t need garlic spread. It has lots of chemicals. Just put diced garlic and butter in a small pan, make your own cheaper ,healthier !
