$7.25 Million Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe - PURE Exhaust Sounds!

- This video features an extremely rare and original 1964 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe (chassis number of this Daytona is CSX 2300), only six Daytona original coupes were ever built between 1964 and 1965. Carroll Shelby himself owned this Daytona before it was sold by RM Auctions for $4.4 million on August 19, 2000. In 2009 a Daytona Coupe (chassisnumber CSX2601) was sold for $7.25million US dollars, with such a ridiculous value it's even more incredible to see one being driven very fast around track!

This is where this car should be, and not in a museum
Álvaro Gómez Pascual and if anyone drives it like an old lady it isn't a track car anymore, it is supposed to be
what i meant is that most old pwople drive it overcarefully because ita expensive, thiscar isnt made for that as you can tell by the big v8
Álvaro Gómez Pascual I've seen on in real life on the road its such a cool car
Álvaro Gómez Pascual It isnt that rare anymore Shelby has said that they will build 50 more kosting up the 449k
Gonzalo Bueno Rodriguez LOL..:D
I saw this car to compete live..(spa, belgium)
if someone should send him pictures:D
So good to see this thing going all out on the track... nerve wrecking for sure, but a beautiful site to see none-the-less. Wish more people did it.
Thanks for the show
This is what it was built for! Who care how much it costs. Lets be honest if the Veyron didn't have the speed reputation, no one would buy it for 2Million.
OurSilly Productions not to mention that any Shelby ever built while carol was alive, is pure American perfection. Proper looks to kill for, Speed, And That oh so beautiful sound....
50 year old and still got it!
0:27 I want that music track on my funeral playing in circles
I liked when that GT40 was behind it, A+
0:26-0:37 - Some of the very best sounds ever to entertain my eardrums. Any dislikes shown are either totally deaf, or at least tone deaf. Beautiful American V8 muscle at its finest! A small block that sounds every bit as good, if not better, than any big block. Those downshifts before Eau Rouge are purely orgasmic! There is nothing more to say folks! 🤠🏁
That's Raidillon actually. He gets back on it at the top of Eau Rouge. Still sounds amazing.
@@yankee313 Thanks for the correction, I'm not as familiar with the section names there - I should work on it!😁
Sorry to inform you..but that's a 427 big block...
@@feydespiel. - Sorry to re-inform you, but every one of the 6 original Daytona Coupes was powered by the venerable 289 small block with 4, twin choke, downdraft Weber carbs and producing 390 HP. After this car won the World Manufacturers Championship, the only American built car to this day to achieve that, Shelby's crew decided to try an all aluminum 390 FE big block. Alas, it wasn't to be, as Ford directed Shelby American to dedicate all of their time to making the prototype GT 40 MK1 a winner, something the British hadn't achieved so far. No further work was done with the Daytona Coupe and that was it!
I am fortunate to own one of the very rare books on this car titled "Daytona Cobra Coupes" by Peter Brock, the designer of the car (in just 90 days), Dave Friedman, Shelby American official photographer, and George Stauffer. To my knowledge, there was only one edition printed in 1995, and it is considered the most complete documentation of this famous car. I brought it to the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival on two occasions and had both Carroll Shelby and Peter Brock sign it for me. It's a fantastic collection of all the aspects of building this car. Look at the prices on Ebay and you will see how coveted this book is to serious collectors! $$$$ With those two signatures and the book being in very good condition, it could quite easily fetch $2,500 -$3,500, or more on ebay! I have no plans to sell it!
289 cu in (4.7L), 390 hp, 341 lb-ft, 191 mph 0-62 mph in 4.4 sec. Astonishing for 50+ years ago
@pbgoodwin1 - The late Bob Bondurant said he touched 197 on the Mulsanne Straight with his championship winning #5 Daytona Coupe!
@@Loulovesspeed that car was so cool
@@pbgoodwin1 I absolutely think so! Did you know that it is the only American built car to win the FIA World Manufacturers Championship for Shelby American and Ford? At least 55 years ago, we knew how to build a successful race car. I'm pushing 72, and this is and has been one of my favorite racing machines! Beautiful looks, beautiful sound and a major automotive racing success. The body was designed and the car built in just 90 days by a handful of California hot rodders. Trust me when I tell you that will never happen again - the 1960s were unique and special times. I was fortunate to meet and chat with Pete Brock, the designer, at The Lime Rock Park Historic Festival in 2016. I also had him sign the rare book, "The Cobra Daytona Coupes", which Carroll Shelby also signed for me in 2006. Meeting Shelby and chatting briefly with him, was a high point in my life that I will never forget! The real ironic part of the Daytona Coupe was it was built to beat Ferrari for sure. Outside of the first body being built in California by Peter Brock and the Shelby American crew, the other 5 bodies were built right in old Enzo's home town of Modena, Italy by Carrozzeria Gransport! How's that for a slap in the face. Vengeance is mine sayeth the Ford. Lol
@@Loulovesspeed yeah. I’m 72 and remember reading the car mag articles about it. And no, it’ll never happen like that again. We mostly get to read about SUVs now
@@Loulovesspeed thats a super long stretch probably more tire flex , thats moving for a 289
2:14, that's right, know your place Ferrari, hehehe
Such a shame seeing all the other priceless car just sit in a museum, good on them for stretching it legs
I feel like a 1960s Shelby Daytona Coupe or GT40 Mark II / IV could still hang even with modern cars.....sure they don't have the same aerodynamic efficiency ,but damn do they "GO Like Hell!!!"
@Pwj579 - This Daytona Coupe, a GT car, lead the GT40 MK1, the faster prototype, in 1964 Le Mans 24 hrs. for a good portion of the race. I don't believe a GT car ever bettered a Prototype for any length of time before!
i like that accelerate sound at 0:15, Goosebomb!
Ferrari F40's big poppa.
Shelby Daytona.
Proud of USA.
0:27
Damn... I'd love to hear that live.
oh fuck yeah!
it sounds like a WW2 fighter plane
I know right
I love it. Still faster than most cars in that track, amazing.
Shelby Daytona Coupe and gt40 driving after each other on a racetrack! SICK
Now that is one hell of a rare sight, great catch Hans!
DtRockstar1 I've seen on in real life on the road its such a cool car
+Eli Rodd You've seen a replica.
One of the best and beautiful race car ever made.
P.D: 3 dislikes? i don't understand...
@@youtubeisgarbage900 That's right! Little boys who wear Bow-Ties and those who are black stallion fans!
The Cobra Daytona Coupe was actually faster than the early MK 1 GT40. Once it was sorted out, however, it was a different story. Still, very impressive that a GT car was faster than a prototype machine!! 🏁🏆🤠
50 years old car and still amazing
Probably faster than a lot of "performance" cars from today
well ya , but try taking it comfortably down to the hamburger joint in 120 degree arizona heat lol. the newer cars got that going for them
@@mikejorgensen3496 - Thanks, but I'll sweat with a smile while I endure the 120 degree heat and discomfort, knowing I'm driving a car with more historic relevance than ANY new performance car will EVER attain!
Must be a tremendous driver that they let him take 7.2 million dollars down the track...No pressure or anything! Awesome!!
Sounds awesome, great video!!
this is a fantastic car! a real machine, made for racing ;-)
and the plucky little alfa romeo GTAm chasing the Daytona brings quite the smile to my face!
:27 - :37 The best sounds of the Daytona Coupe under acceleration you'll ever hear! Mighty American small block power! There are some better cars made elsewhere in the world, but the American V8 powered Daytona Coupe is at the pinnacle of beautiful, powerful, pure muscle engine sounds!
3:00 👀
Even after 34 years since 1965 the 1999 ferrari f360 lost the leading..
3:16 that monster v8 almost saying with his brutal sound: look now.. I am here.. 🔊💪
Awesome, have to respect great cars of this league!
Amazing car, amazing video. It's so loud!
Kick ass video! I just subscribed to this channel, freaking LOVE it! Keep up the great work!!!!
Love the sound...
>>>>>@ 3:15, a GT-40 in hot pursuit of the Daytona, just like in the '60's, and than 3 Dinky Toy Ferraris, that resemble characters from "CARS" the movie........yelling, hey wait guys, wait for us..........just like in the '60's
and WOW does that GT40 sound great!
Something PewDiePie can afford
Munther Albarqawy really? Really!? You brought an unfunny guy screaming at games 3 days a week for reference?
Munther Albarqawy fuck you
Abe Am it's overrated f****** hate it.
Throngdorr Mighty bill gates and pwediepie aren't anywhere near the same level, from a wealth standpoint. Absurd comparison.
Munther Albarqawy U mad
Without a doubt the Greatest Car EVER
This should be the true soundtrack of the 60s.
I agree a real Shelby raced the way it should be!!

OMFG this sound is the armageddon!!!!

Everything about this machine says "get out of my way."
OMG. These great sounds remind me of the Oldtimer Gran Prix at the Nürburgring. Damn and its still one month until the next one starts. But awesome video (as every time). Thx for sharing. And pls give me that Shelby... :D
If it crashed someone would be very angry.
In '64-'65 that was THE facest racecar in the World. 180+MPH..... Ferrari had nothing to beat it ! Makes my sticker peck out ! lol
oh my gut some one actually using an expensive car for what it was designed for
hgghgguk holy shit right, you don't see that so much, litteraly, you only see regular cars on the track and sports cars on the road these days
@hgghgguk - Actually, you can see these types of expensive historic machines every year, if you live near a well known sports car track, at least in the U.S. The Historic Festivals are my favorite events of the year for just that reason. I assumed they have these events in Europe, but maybe not!
This is the reason historical races are so great. I can't go to car shows any more, they're ruined for me.
He was holding off that GT40 and that car was screaming!
@Randy Randerson - I read that the Daytona Coupe could actually out pace the 1964 Ford GT MK 1 in that car's early development! It sure did in this video.
Love this car.
What a powerful machine
@Pilane Chaks - That's the sound of a 390 HP, small block, 4.7 liter American Ford V8!
avez vous les dates pour les prochains roulage a Spa francorchamps

I see 9 deaf and blind people accidentally clicked dislike.
Damn! Die van Cars and Coffee XXL was een replica zeker?
I'm sorry but the stunning sound of the Shelby Cobra Daytona is far better then the sound from the GT40. The sound of the Cobra Daytona is unique. Much more deeper, more aggressive, more monstruos. That's the way I like it. I wish I could realize this sound setup for my future V8. Thus how it have to sound like!
Ik sta eigenlijk best wel versteld van hoe vet ik dit ding vind. Ben normaal gesproken niet van de oudere auto's.
How many of these were made ?
Read the description bro
Six 289 Cobra Daytona Coupes were made.
Are there two being driven? Or did they take the '12's off?
The one without the numbers doesn't sound right! The number 12 sounds perfect
The no-numbers car is the same exact car as the number 12...the same chassis, CSX2300. Just filmed at different times. The exhaust "silencers" were put on I believe to keep in regulation with Spa's noise limits...all European race tracks have them...a shame.
OMG....a GT40 dicing with a Daytona Coupe, at SPA !!!
About 0:48 KABOOM downshift
Lindo! som maravilhoso... só falta o cheiro a borracha queimada!
that gt 40 tho but fuck those are some awesome sounds
Let the big dog eat!
Love that expression!
is this in the netherlands TT assen?
No its spa francorchamps in begium
o ok kinda looks like TT Assen the last time i went there
3:40 that's what I call a hot pursuit.
Thats the sound of adrenaline, did this car take a podium place in the Le Mans. If it did should be of high value because thats a piece of history along with the its driver, if not no way $ 7.25 thats just ridiculous.
Power sound\\\\\
ice car...
q coisa linda
i love shelby first car
American Power !
2:14 - 2:16 Out of my way, loser! Lol
Dream car
Nice!!
Why in Belgium but not in at least Indianapolis track?
Because the car didn't race at Indy, but it did at Spa.
madre de Dios :O
hasta babié el teclado :O
so much want
i'll still say that csx 2601 ( the one with 12 on the hood) sounds even better than this monster
Snehan Ghosal I'm pretty positive that the Daytona Coupe shown in this video, whether with or without race numbers, was chassis CSX2300 which is owned and thankfully taken to tracks and historic rallies quite regularly by the Ellerbrock family. CSX2601 on the other hand is the #26 car I believe.
Im not even going to buy this with a penny , i would have for free
Holy shit
Why does it cost 7mil ? Can i also build a old car that will look like this and cost atleast 1mil ?
I'm pretty sure he said that the car is very rare.
Nick Dugan
The most rarest is GTO250 Ferrari i guess.
It's an incredibly rare purpose built Shelby race-car that handed Ferrari's 250GTOs their ass in the World SportsCar Championship.
Brandon Ryan
250GTO was sold for about 50mil $ :)
1:35 near the GT what car is the red car? Looks like a 250 GTO
it only costs that much because of it's limited availabiltiy and the fact that rich people are willing to pay over the odds to buy it. I don't think that is $7.25M worth of car. Then again some things are stupidly prices. Prada flip flops probably cost $200
OnlineBackupServices i don't think people would find it normal to find something for sale for 5 dollars that is actually the only one of them
@Grimshaw Grummage - The Daytona's limited availability is but one reason for its high value. The fact that it was an American Built car and it beat a company which was founded in racing for many years, while Ford produced Mom and Pop cars is another. It was made by a company that was named after its creator, the American icon, Carroll Shelby. The biggest reason for its value, and I personally think it's way too low at $7.25M, is that the Cobra Daytona Coupe is, to this day, the only American car to have won the prestigious World Manufacturers Championship for Shelby American and Ford Motor Co. If you think it's not worth that much, what do you say about a Ferrari 250 GTO selling for over $60,000,000?
It's about a million dollars per liter. Haha.
'murica baby
Why does this look so similar to the Ferrari 250gto
because they copied the body design almost directly
@@mikejorgensen3496 - Not really, the design was inspired by early 1930s German air flow studies which Brock got from the G.M. archives when he was designing the Stingray. While there are some similarities to the GTO, there are more differences used in the Daytona.
@@Loulovesspeed the Chopped off recessed tail design was taken directly from Ferrari
@@mikejorgensen3496 Look more carefully at the ass end of each car. The Ferrari's ass is vertical until it hits the spoiler, and it's not concave like the Daytona, or anywhere near as sharply angled. Sooooooo, the Daytona's rear end is quite different than the GTO! Too bad for Ferrari that the "same design" worked successfully for Shelby and not so for Enzo!
@@Loulovesspeed i read the huge article i think in motor trend in early 2000's great article. the hunt for the final one was nothing short of a quest.
That is it pure unadulterated sound. Is it an ev ? Lol
Cum u believe it

Imagine this is 2099 and oil is a long ago dream. This video is ridiculous. A multi-million dollar vehicle supported by a multi-trillion dollar industry all to go fast around a track. Almost as much fun as the pyramids.
@Brett Thevenot - Uhhhh, they already have synthetic oil, so no problem when the petroleum is gone! You're clearly not a fan of racing, so I have to ask you why you even watched this video??? Are you just a Troll in training? Lol
7 million because Ford fans have more dollars than sense.
Or it's one of six ever made and part of racing history, not to mention its a Shelby not a Ford.
@S B - You sound very much like a disgruntled Bow-Tie boy! Eat your heart out, dude! Three of these are owned by Chevy fans who only wanted the best! Lol
This is Crazy !!!
