Excellent review! The original is such an iconic toy, I'm so glad to see its design still being celebrated to this very day. The new Roboskull reminds me of a Lazer Tag helmet quite a bit. It instantly reminded me of the skull on Dan's shelf in the Toy Galaxy videos. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. Glad to see it holds up to the high expectations, even with some minor nit picks. And it looks big, really big. Can't wait to put it next to my original one. :) Just got 2 emails this morning to tell me that mine are on their way (I couldn't resist and ordered both versions). My only dilemma at this point is that I don't know what I'll do with the figures. Getting one of each item was already a pretty hefty price tag, especially for us Europeans subject to high VAT and customs fees. The carded figs look so great that I don't really want to open them. But a Roboskull without a pilot looks kind' a silly too... I kind' a like what Fresh Monkey did with their Eagle Force figs where you can easily take them out of the bubble and put them back later without damaging the actual packaging. That was a neat idea. Maybe two additional notes. Palitoy was not only active in the UK, but also in surrounding European countries such as Belgium, France, The Netherlands and Germany (with slightly censored versions). :) If some parts are really stiff, I would recommend heating them up a bit using a hair dryer for example. It's actually recommended for a lot of new toys these days in order to avoid breaking them. :s
Nice! I hope yours arrive safely 👍 I decided one was enough so went for the most original looking. The SE looks cool though. Agree, the carded figures are too nice to open... so I went for 2 of each but limited to a couple of characters. The website has so many other figures!! Hopefully, they'll make Blood Wolf available separately. Ah yes, I had a feeling Palitoy was available elsewhere just wasn't sure... but really that section was for our US friends who may not be familiar with the origins 😎 I use heat in a lot of vintage restorations... seems crazy you need it for stuff new out of the box!
I normally reserve Sunday evenings for downing vodka in the mini-golf section of our local council park, whilst throwing bottles at the moon and screaming...but this wonderful review just completely changed my plans! Marvellous!! 😄👍
SOOOOOOOO, badass! I would have loved collecting them as a kid. I would have been the happiest kid in the world to have gotten the Roboskull for Christmas. I really want a Roboskull MKII under the tree this year.💀
Wow that really is something else. The box art is quite spectacular in itself, I'm sure it will display very nicely. Enjoy Dave and a huge thanks for sharing the moment!
Jeez Dave!!! That’s some machine!!! And the size of it to!!! It looks like a red Terminator exo skeleton head, beautiful and glad you feel it was worth the wait. Now get Bob in that cockpit 😂👍
It's crazy big Luke!! I really have no idea where to display it, and I can't even put back in the box 🤣 Definitely worth the wait. It does a Terminator feel about it. If I can get another Blood Wolf, Bob will be flying 👍
I am currently working at Royal Mail and my colleagues (who are younger than I am) couldn't understand why I was buzzing when some of these came through the delivery chain last week- I didn't even know they had made an updated version, but I had to explain to everyone why I was so surprised and how awesome the original Roboskull was!
That's brilliant!! Must have been a shock to see them and I bet you had a few blank looks while trying to explain why it so cool 🤣 Brave move to advertise the contents of the box so clearly!!
What an epic update to the iconic Roboskull, which for me requires no nostalgic connection to be cool as hell! The Red Shadows Kraken and Skeletron figures are amazing, I may have to try and get my hands on a couple more Palitoy gems to keep you figure you gifted me company on the shelf. Another cracking video Dave!
I had an original Roboskull and I always thought of it as a Sith TIE Fighter! I bear to tell you what happened to it, my heart would break... Great video! 👍
Awesome video as always Dave … What an incredible new Robo Skull 💀 💯 worth the wait that’s for sure & wth your original next to the new version really makes a superb display well done mate 👌🤩
That is a beautiful piece, they really ramped up the arachnid qualities, kind of gives and takes since the spidery legs are a bit spindly I can see, the elephant like feet of the original being more steady. Yeah exactly, not going to get played with so any structural issues are mostly moot.😏 I quite like the ball socket control handle design, so many toy lines really have a hard time properly engaging with figure hands and maintaining that grip.🤔 I've been trying to improve my scalpel technique to save my card-backs from typical rip damage.😉 It's a fair point about whether it can disassembled, they really should have been more careful with that socket design. Well not likely to get either of the Roboskulls because of financial constraints lol but certainly going to look into getting some of those figures, I do hope in the future they sell that one separately though.🙂
Hey Logan! You're right about the legs, they aren't the strongest for standing on. They do have a separate flight stand which I think I'll get one day. The design of the wrist swivels and ball jointed control sticks definitely work well together! If you look on skeletron.com you can already buy some of the figures, pre-order others and yes, I believe they will be selling the Roboskull as well 👍
Great review of an epic toy Dave 😎100% agree on the shipper box packaging, give me a plain brown box any day to avoid items going missing, and put the artwork on the inner shipping box.
Excellent review - mine came a few days ago and really pleased with it. Agree with you about concerns with the wings. One question - does the chin gone piece that clips in under the mouth come out easy? I haven’t put mine in yet as I’m frightened like the wings I won’t be able to get it out again as the spare seat pops in the top of it and it can double as an extra small flying vehicle. Thanks
Ah, never even occurred to me that the chin gun and spare seat could combine. I'll see if the chin gun can be removed, and respond later 👍 Good to hear yours has arrived too !! 🤘
You seemed hesitant to voice your criticisms. After making this purchase and waiting for three years, you've more than earned the right to mention your concerns. That's the point of a review. Let fly with your thoughts!
Thanks Tim!! I am a reserved Brit, we don't like to complain too much 🤣 but actually good point 👍 On the whole though I am very pleased, they've done a cracking job.
I assume so, but I don't have any details. They're definitely selling figures as they become available on skeletron.com/ There's contact emails on the site so worth contacting them 👍
Thanks!! 👍 You know what I saw those and just left them in the package, but I think they're simply to plug the eye socket holes although they looked too small. I'm gonna keep mine looking as original as possible 🤘
Boff was i believe Bobs nickname from a Swedish girlfriend i think back in the day. Hopefully i remembering what he told me correctly. Boff BVrechin being quoted here is a nod to the promotional Roboskull blueprints which quoted the same name on them and were given away as part of the Baron Ironblood promotional tour no the original release. Lucky to have one signed by "Baron Ironblood".
Ah thanks Matt!! Never knew that... my partner is Swedish so love this! Also never knew there were promotional blueprints... that's awesome and even better to have one signed!! 👍
I’m gonna get it and wear it as a helmet for cosplay 😂. And speaking of helmets, those Skeledrone heads pop off and can be put on Marauder (and I presume Skeletron) figures
Funny you say that, as the Skull has an American football helmet vibe, at least for me 😎 Now, I knew the Skeledrones had removable heads, as I have a custom replacement Muton head from The Kraken Wakes, but had no idea the figure heads could be removed!! 👍
I don't really have space for this at the moment...but damned if I didn't get the regular and the SE version anyway. Between this, the Collector's Club Red Laser, and the recent Fresh Monkey totally not-Red Shadows figures, I've got a nice modernised version of the gang all these years later after regretfully getting shot of it all back in the day. I know nothing more's been said by the team but if they were thinking about an encore, a modernised Triad Fighter or Sealion would be delightful (cough).
That's quite the modern Red Shadows army you have there!! 👍 I can only imagine there will be more coming from Skeletron in the future - no idea what though or when LOL we had to wait a while for this one 😎
When you think about it the red shadows have invaded the us toy market what with the monster force crimson shadows the only thing needed to be made are ground vehicles
It's here at last!!! Skeletron's Roboskull MK II 👍What do you think of it? As always, thanks for all the support. Cheers, Dave 🤘
You’re video is amazing and you’ve officially convinced me to buy one. Had to drop like and some money 😂
Thanks!! 😎 Of course I can't be held responsible for any purchases you make 🤣 enjoy!!
"Our ships have skulls on them! Are we the baddies?!!!"
Probably 😎
how awesome! what a beast of a toy. Fabulous! Such a great modernization of an iconic toy!
Certainly is a beast! 👍 Now, how to find some space to display it!
@VintageToyRush always the trick finding space!!
Cheers!
Thanks!! 👍 Yeah, definitely has a helmet vibe... no idea what Dan's skull looks like, never seen it 😎
What a fantastic Roboskull. The figures, features and size make it a conversation piece in the collection. Great review my friend and enjoy!!!
Thanks Mike! You’re not wrong, the size does make it imposing but I really have no idea where to display it 😎
Absolutely brilliant Dave well worth the wait, this screams quality .You're gonna need a bigger shelf. 😉👌
Thanks Tez!! 🤘 I really have no idea where to display this beast! And I can't put it back in the box in the mean time LOL 🤣
Thanks for the video. Glad to see it holds up to the high expectations, even with some minor nit picks. And it looks big, really big. LOL!!! Well, I hope you at least had a vodka whilst watching 😎
OMG Dave, what a cool toy! Never had action force but love this vehicle, vintage and new. Great video mate 👍👍👍
Cheers Keith!!! 👍 It's an iconic vehicle for sure... never had one as a kid but was lucky to find a vintage one a few years back 🤘
SOOOOOOOO, badass!
I would have loved collecting them as a kid. I would have been the happiest kid in the world to have gotten the Roboskull for Christmas. I really want a Roboskull MKII under the tree this year.💀
Certainly is badass! I hope you've got a big tree... gonna need it for the size of the box!! ☠️
Wow that really is something else. The box art is quite spectacular in itself, I'm sure it will display very nicely. Enjoy Dave and a huge thanks for sharing the moment!
Thanks Jeff! 👍 I've been very impressed by all the art and illustrations involved in this project! One of the best boxes.
Wow. That is amazing
Definitely impressive in person! They've done a great job 👍
Omg that is one huge toy, didn't expect the new Roboskull to be that size. Awesome. Excellent review.
Cheers Chris!! It's massive especially compared to the original 😎 I really don't know where it will be displayed!!
Jeez Dave!!! That’s some machine!!! And the size of it to!!! It looks like a red Terminator exo skeleton head, beautiful and glad you feel it was worth the wait.
Now get Bob in that cockpit 😂👍

Fantastic review and video Dave, it looks amazing and as you say absolutely captures the spirit of the original.
Thanks Gris! Yeah, I think involving the original designer was a smart move!
Awesome video VTR. The size of it!!
Good things come to those that wait!
Thanks Dez!! Now, where on earth am I gonna display the damn thing 🤣

Yes Scott!!! You have to find a Kraken and Skeletron if you can 👍 Love the new Roboskull, but have no idea where to display, it's epicly massive 🤣
Thanks! 🤘
I had an original Roboskull and I always thought of it as a Sith TIE Fighter! I bear to tell you what happened to it, my heart would break... Great video! 👍
Yes! That's the way to play with your original Roboskull. I won't ask what happened to it!! 👍 Thanks Dave! 🤘
Another great video Dave! That thing looks great.
Cheers Flux!! It's certainly impressive in person 👍
Impressive most impressive! Fantastic review of a toy of art!
Most impressive ha ha! 🤣 Cheers BOE 👍
Awesome video as always Dave … What an incredible new Robo Skull 💀 💯 worth the wait that’s for sure & wth your original next to the new version really makes a superb display well done mate 👌🤩
Thanks Murray! 👍 Can't believe it was 3 years ago... where has the time gone! And they do display well together, just need to find the space somehow 😎
That type of branding on the shipper is a porch pirates dream come true!
Certainly is Gforce! That was my first thought when I opened the door to the postman!! Thankfully I was in 👍
Quite a stunning piece!
Indeed Delvian, it displays very well - even though it's large, the detail is maintained 👍
Great Video Dave 👍

Just awesome mate fantastic
Cheers Brian! They certainly delivered on their promise! 👍
🔥☠️🔥💀🔥👍 Love it! Want both vintage and new. Flying Red Laser Skulls rule! Thank you for the video. Excellent purchase. ☠️
Ha! Can you imagine 40 years ago when Bob Brechin first presented the idea of a Red flying skull to the rest of the team!! 😎 Thanks! 👍
" Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys?! " 🤣
Found most of them behind Si's sofa 🤣
Great review of an epic toy Dave 😎100% agree on the shipper box packaging, give me a plain brown box any day to avoid items going missing, and put the artwork on the inner shipping box.
Thanks Jonathan! 👍 Definitely a brave move on their part! But I do appreciate their level of detail! 🤘
Box art is Legendary artist Ian Kennedy's last commercial art. Over 70 years as a professional artist.
Oh wow! Just reading his biography... incredible 👍
Great video Dave.. So if you could only keep one which would it be.. Old or New.. As if I need to ask.. 👍😎👍
Thanks Nick!! 👍 I'm sure you know, the original 😎

Will this eventually be released normally on the website?
I assume so, but I don't have any details. They're definitely selling figures as they become available on skeletron.com/ There's contact emails on the site so worth contacting them 👍
Great Video. Do you know what the two little black pegs are that are found on the page listed as A that goes in the eyes. No clue what they do.
Thanks!! 👍 You know what I saw those and just left them in the package, but I think they're simply to plug the eye socket holes although they looked too small. I'm gonna keep mine looking as original as possible 🤘
VTR Dave might see Bob Brechin when he looks at the Blood Wolf action figure, but I just see Stu Norris! 🤔🤣
Ha ha!!! That's brilliant 🤣
Boff was i believe Bobs nickname from a Swedish girlfriend i think back in the day. Hopefully i remembering what he told me correctly. as I understand it hasbro has the same problem with the dragonfly once assembled it dosn't want to apart without risking breakage
I think it's a real shame the Roboskull does not dismantle. Especially when there's amazing packaging for it that can't be re-used!
I don't really have space for this at the moment...but damned if I didn't get the regular and the SE version anyway. How can you improve a roboskull? Well....
Ha! Indeed, they successfully took on the challenge 😎
Original robo skull looks way cooler
Both look cool!!
When you think about it the red shadows have invaded the us toy market what with the monster force crimson shadows the only thing needed to be made are ground vehicles
Very true George!! 👍
*can't.
