    I used to use the huge FL405 on my 351W. Had to clearance the shock tower a tiny bit to get it started on the threads, but man, any extra oil over the FL1A I could fit was bonus. Especially on a .060" overbore and a stroker crank.

    Beat me to it Rich! Lol
    Looks like a higher flowing filter element overall. Many of these modern synthetic medias flow very well. The original one was an enhanced glass media. I’m not certain the media composition of this new element. Granted, it should be an extent filter as long as the filtration hasn’t been sacrificed for flow. Wix, Purolator, and Motorcraft are all from Mann Hummel.
    Happy New Year Rich and family!

    Looks good. Nice to see Ford making improvements. The only Motorcraft filter I run is for the 2021 Gt Mustang. I'm doing Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 every 3k. No coyote tick yet 🤞. I am currently doing exhaust research for my 2019 toyota Tundra 5.7. It's hard to find a good mix of good sound without highway drone.

    The FL2124 Looks very similar to the black oil filter that comes on the truck from the factory. I cut mine open after the first oil change and had the same style filter media with a metal mesh backing. I was confused as to why the FL2050 was so different from the black one. Maybe they are going to that factory style filter.

  • @kevinscott8694
    @kevinscott8694 ปีที่แล้ว

    Being its Ford OE im not to worried about it but the aftermarket likes to put more, and thicker pleats in there oil filter and then claim there filters work better which is true if all you consider is filtrations.. but, flow is more important in some cases.. This is why all filters have some type of bypass, either on the truck side or the filter side.... If flow is restricted to much because of to many pleats then the bypass stays open all the time.. Like running with no filter, which will eventually bite you... One thing I like about the Ford filters is that there bypass is at the top of the filter (But not the FL2124s or the FL2051s).... Compare the FL500s, FL820s, or FL910s to filters from anyone else, valvoline, wix, fram, et.. I have yet to see anyone else with that design..

      It’s heavier because of the thickness of the media. Enhanced glass used in the original element is lighter and thinner without a doubt. I don’t believe we will see any significant rise in oil pressure as the element appears to be designed for greater flow. More flow equates to lesser pressure.
