About to embark on the same project. Same side door.
    Thanks for the video.
What size rivets did you use?

I honestly don't remember. It was whatever size came with a rivet tool with a small variety pack of rivets.

Rusty, great write up. Helped me tremendously to solve my daughter's jammed up window. I had to change the regulator as the cable was totally frayed and jammed. One thing that stumped me was how to get one side of the new cable on the front and one side on the back. eventually my wife helped me figure out that we had to remove that allen head bolt at the bottom of the frame to thread the cable through. If this step was mentioned in the video it would have saved me another hour or so.

Well, I finished finally.. Also, DO NOT FUCK WITH THE ALIGNMENT. OMG!
My door card didn’t sit right, after I put the window frame back in. It sat a little too high on the car. I figured to just lower the frame using the alignment screws but after two minutes of fiddling, I ended up messing everything up. It was a nightmare to fix. Ugh

Do you have a video on changing front left parking/running light bulb ? My turn signal works but no running light.

I don't but that's a common problem and an easy fix.theres there are no wires attached it it. Just reach back there, give it a quarter twist and it'll pop put. I'll see if there are good LED replacements so you don't have to change these every year. If I find some I'll make a video of it.

Thank you Rusty! your video is just awesome. what you covered here and in your other video are truly helpful; i'm less anxious. i'll be embarking on taking apart the passenger side door to fix the latch on my roadster very soon. Cheers!

Great video! Helped out a lot replacing the regulator on our 01 TT roadster. Made a horrific job into just a pain in the @ss job! Since the dealer was in the door a while ago.. they reaaaaaly messed up the alignment on the bottom of the door. Once I figured that out..it went back together surprisingly easy.

PLEASE HELP searched everywhere. My window was not sealing properly on the back top at first which I've heard is kinda common and I found it was inside the door panel being the small torx clamp on the glass. I fixed it after trying to adjust the 5 bolts and taking the door panel off but now the window is acting as if something in the way and doesn't seem to be sealed right on the bottom back as well seems it might be stressing the motor now...assuming I adjusted wrong but I need to know what each one torx adjustment actually adjusts!?

So I dont have to take the light fixture out to change the bulb ? Do I reach in there from the under the hood, or from underneath the car ?

What about breaking your window. say someone tried to steal it.
Let the dealer fix it. Insurance question.

How many pop rivets are required, Rusty? I plan on performing this repair when I get back from the Bahamas in a month or two. Thank you for making this video as well as the previous part 1 which I followed to a T and unfortunately am at the point of part 2. Anyway, ECS tuning sells the OEM 4.8x11 pop rivtets @ www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/pop-rivet-priced-each/n90478601/

Hey Simon. I'm sorry but I don't remember. I got a cheap rivet gun that came with 2-3 size rivets. I used whichever of those fit best.

Flo Vly I think I used either 1/8" or 3/16" rivits. I recommend getting a small pack of each and then seeing which fits the holes better once you're in there. Let me know how it turns out. It takes time, but is very doable. Good luck!

beware of those cheap ebay replacement regulator and cable kits. They're even worse quality than the crap thats in there.
