- This is How You Can Make Your Blow Off Value Recirculate Back Into Your Intake. This is Very Important For "EVO And STI" Owners! Where Your "Mass Airflow Sensor" is Before Your Blow Off Value.
gonna try to recirculate my evo soon, hopefully this improves the richness a bit thanks for the help
Yep... Wasting metered air sounds cool, but defeats the purpose of metering the air, in the first place... Good job, Rich!
Yes sir I agree with you! I had a small scare when I went to drive the car and got on boost I heard a huge bang and thought I blew a head gasket but it was my hose popping off my throttlebody. It scared the crap out of me to say the least, so I replaced it with a new worm gear clamp but those ones aren't very good, so I ordered a T- bolt clamp! but I installed two worm gears until I get it in the mail. Thanks for your comment, take care and have a great memorial day weekend.
Very helpful video man. I got a volvo c70 turbo and everyone says not to put a bov on it cuz the me7 ecu doesn't like it and it's an maf metered car too. I've seen and read about lots of people not having problems and then others having problems so they say to recirculate it like you did. I like that psssh sound and I like how even with it recirculating it's still making a nice noise. I got a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust with no muffler and it sounds good but I can't hear my stock cbv as much as before now lol I guess Ima hafta do like u did. Thanks for the details bro! Your car sounds good.
Thanks for that! That's why I do vlogs in the first place. And I agree with you it sounds great! with the HKS SSQV you can hear it either way you plumb it. It's not as over bearing, but it still sounds sweet! at least in my opinion! Like I said thanks for your input and if you haven't subscribed already please do. Take care.
You did a good job..this is what i need tto know..did not know that little piece dont go when you get the ssqv..hmmm..so you are not actually getting a recirculating valve but it was stated as ssqv..????
Great info, going through all the annoying things like this on my 5.
Thanks I appreciate it I hope it helped? if you have any questions? or anything and I can help you with, just hit me up! I'm no expert by any means, but if I can help I will. Take Care!
Damn, that car moves.. Great job !
+PJ Neslo Thanks for watching my video!! I'm very pleased with the way it came out, and yes it moves pretty good, but there's always room for improvement. I'm planning on a boost controller soon as well! Thanks again.
Interesting... It’s just as quiet as my Evo 9 OEM BOV with the Injen intake...
Any recommendation on how to do this for the Evo 6. It’s quite hard to recirculate for these cars. Thanks.
I'm not sure I've never even looked at 6 and how you would even go about doing it! but if I come across something I'll let you know.
Get an aftermarket induction pipe that has a recirc attachment. I'm doing this to my 6 right now.
nice sound!
Good video but would have been alot better if you would have done less cuts of you buying parts and more cuts of the actual work. Thanks for the info!
Thanks I appreciate it! and thanks for your respectful input. Take care.
So is there some way to run a bov without running rich between shifts? My thoughts is that would incite a MAF sensor delete but how does that work? Good job on the vid man
Gned Thanks!! You can get it turned so you can run it venting out instead of recirculating it. But I don't see the need to have it do that just for the noise. But that's up to you, of course. Good luck and thanks again for for watching! Keep in touch, and I would love to have you as a subscriber! And if you hit the bell you will get updates as soon as I upload new videos. I don't know when I will get back to some more Evo vlogs because I'm saving money for a new place, but I'll do my best.
You have to have the tune to adjust the amount of fuel the Ecu will provide. The ecu will reliever fuel in anticipation of the metered air that has passed thru the MAF. Since the metered air is released to atmosphere the ecu doesn’t see that because it’s after the maf sensor so u get a rich condition.
I guess what the protocol would be is to adjust the ecu not to dump that anticipated fuel .. I run recirculating on both my X and IX with HKS ssqv3 and 4 , while it’s much more attenuated it’s still flutters pretty nicely but it’s smooth. Function over Flossing .
Sounds great!
Hell yeah! about dam time you changed it!
+ajgrizzleybear Yeah it's also about time you started working on my "Theme Song" Butt Head Ha Ha
Sounds badass
Cool video
Craig Russell Thanks Craig!! I appreciate it. I would love it if you would consider subscribing!! Thanks again.
Should do a full walk around of your car...!
+Blue is Life I did a small one in my very first vlog ever! You can check that one out, I need to do some work on my paint to try to fix the keyed parts the best that can without repainting it. So I was kind of waiting a little while to try to fix some of those things before I do another walk around. I can't even begin to tell you how mad I am for some punk touching my car. That's also why I don't drive it to shows because it's embarrassing with all the keyed parts. But I'm going to try to fix it a.s.a.p. Thanks for your Advice and for watching my video, I will do the walk around as soon as get a chance, take, now that I know it's wanted! Take care.
+EvoEightRich damn that sucks with ppl keying your car idleast it ain't like mine I parked it and 2 days later 2 17 year old kids stole it and wreaked it into a ditch 3 blocks down the road it's on my Channle but I wish you luck with your build and keep up the good vids man👍
+Blue is Life Yeah you're right I should just be thankful for what I have!! and stopped crying about little marks, a lot of people don't even have cars! I'm old enough to know better. Sorry to hear about your car that sucks, but when all else fails at least we have our health right!!
+EvoEightRich that is very true man very true
What size is the fitting adapter for recirculating. I’ve looked online and have found a 38mm, 19mm and 23mm that all day for hks recirculating
The only thing I can find from when I ordered it on eBay it says 1.25" look under HKS Blow Off Valve BOV SSQV outlet 1.25" Recirculation Adapter. You should find it there, if not hit me up again! good luck thanks for your questions! and if you haven't subscribed already? please do, I do all kinds of cool stuff from video games to everyday stuff, you should check them out you might like them! thanks again.
so basically just re-route it post maf again? doesn't really matter if it's before or after the HKS bov?
Inless you have it tuned to run that way, Subaru and Evo's Do not run properly when blowing off to atmosphere! The air is being metered before you are blowing it all out so the car is not getting the proper air to fuel. If you want to have it blow off just to sound Cool or so people that don't matter know you have a turbo then you need to have it tuned to run that way. This is not an option it's a fact!! I own a Evo so I would know. And I also own a SRT4 which can be ran that way without being tuned! Different setup.
I apologize if I came off as a butthead I was righting the reply as I was rushing out the door for work! After rereading my reply I realized that I was coming off as an ass! And Know-it-all. That's not what I mean it to sound like, and I by no means know-it-all. Hopefully you got something out of my response? Sloppy as it was. Thanks.
Where did you get the bent up hose? Thanks
I must have forgot to mention it in the video I just bought it at O'Reilly or AutoZone and you get as close as possible and then you just cut it and put the Union in and turn it where you want. Hope that helps and thanks for your comment for watching
Hey there. Quick question if you see this lol. I ordered the 1.25" recirc adapter for the HKS SSQV for my '98 GSX. My question is, do I need specific turbo hosing to go from the adapter to the intake? Or can I just use any rubber hosing? I've googled for hours and can't find a clear answer unfortunately.
Looks like he bought whatever he could find from his local part store
No you can just use regular rubber hose, as the other commenter stated, the pressure is no were high enough to be a problem.
@@EvoEightRich03 awesome thanks! That's kind of what I figured, local store has rubber hosing good for 40psi. I'll probably use that
Your welcome!! Good luck 👍
Hey I have the same problem, when there’s a loud car my car stalls? Do you know what it is? Thanks
Daniel Camarena I'm thinking it's the extra rush of air, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
sounds good
hey bro. i just got my ssqv4 installed with full recirculation. so far, the sound isn't noticeable at all. i took the silencer off from stock intake as well. still nothing. there are no leaks, no check engine light etc etc.
get a pod/mushroom filter and a catless downpipe
Did you notice any decrease in afterfiring after recirculating? bought an evo 6 with a blitz atmospheric bov. It idles rough and backfires alot when I shift slowly. Probably going to recirculate it tomorrow
Awesome work! It's too bad for turbo as turbo flutter or it's okay?
Strongbrah Turbo flutter or as it's normally called compressor surge is when the turbo is stalling. after you close the throttle body is when you hear it. It happens when the air goes back into the turbo stalling it. You should not have a issue if you have a proper blow off value, it should let all the air out off the system so there is no air in the pipe to go back into the turbo. So to answer your question, flutter is not what you want to hear.I hoped that answered your question? And if your not a Subscriber already? please consider it! And thanks for watching my videos, and for you question and comment. P.S. even with a good blow off value you can still hear or have a flutter ( compressor surge) if you start taking off normally and then let off the throttle slowly, where the value does not let all the air out and then you will hear your flutter sound.
Oh, thank you for your answer. I get it.
the pressurised air being pumped into the engine by the turbo will have only one path when the throttle is closed: back through the turbo compressor. The fluttering sound is the sound of this air against the blades of the spinning turbo compressor as it tries to flow through it the wrong way. The turbo isn't stalling it's just slowing itself down, if you where to take out the bov and block the hole you will get flutter, although it takes longer for the turbo to slow down and start spoiling g again in the next gear it's perfectly fine, in my opinion I prefer to have flutter because it's the most bad ass sound and the most iconic sound from a performance car
So why even get the hks ssqv for if you were gonna just recirculate they do sell other ones that you can adjust how much to recirculate
Ynot scanless1 Because the stock one not only is plastic, it wil not hold a lot of boost and it will eventually leak. A lot of guys are using the Tial BOV as well and recurulatimg it. Unless you tune it for atmosphere, you shouldn't run it that way. On evo's or sti's that is. In short it's a much better value then the stock one, and if you choose to tune it for atomosphere you already have the value you need.
Hey, Bro, hope you can help, I have installed the HKS SSQV 4 BOV on my evo 4. Should I also make it recirculated? Now its VTA.
Jimmy Wei Unless you plan on getting it tunned so it will run properly venting out. I would plumb in back into the intake. I ran mine like that for years and it always ran like crap! stock evo's and sti's are not meant to run that way. Plus you don't need that ricer sound to show off!! Your driving an evo, enough said, Right!! I hope that helps and I would appreciate it you would subscribe if you haven't already.
EvoEightRich Subscribed, Thank you for this, I will get it done tomorrow. luckily I kept the recirculation kit.
I just bought an evo 6 yesterday. I noticed it ran kind of rough, backfired on deceleration when driving slow, and drank more fuel than it should. I found out it had a blitz atmospheric bov, in conjunction with the maf sensor. I'll be recirculating it tomorrow.
Hey im doing this at the weekend, do you know how wide the piping is you used to recirc it
I don't remember I did it a long time ago sorry, but I just went to AutoZone with the piece and got the hose that fit. I apologize but I just don't recall. Thanks for your question and for watching my video, let me know how it goes I'm really interested.
@@EvoEightRich03 thanks for reply, yea I fitted an hks ssqv to my evo 7 and it's doing that stalling when you dip the clutch and bringing up an EML , so hoping this will solve the issue
the title of the video reads how to make a blow off value? you mean valve right? anyways great job, car will be running like a champ I'm sure.
+joselikescars My mistake!! Thanks for looking out as always!!!
Shut up peewee
Why don’t you just run a stock bpv instead of doing all that?
The stock one is plastic! besides what fun would that be leaving things stock.
i like this way better
Nahian Al-Farook Me to!! it runs so much better now!!
@@EvoEightRich03 "runs better" interms of engine smoothness or/and fuel consumption? I'm driving 2003 Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo with SSQV. The car is really thirsty & i can't stand it 😭😂
Should i get it recirculate?
No backfiring, sputtering or stalling at all, it runs much much better as it should. Evo6 Sweet!!! You've got a great car there! Awesome. Please consider subbing!!! I need to get to 1000 a.s.a.p TH-cam has made it so you don't get paid in less you have a least 10000 subs. Keep in touch and let me know how I went.
4:35😁💀
Era más fácil hacerle tunning y dejar todo igual, que hacer esa cochinada!🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
