I am so glad you talked about stash. I just went through mine….lots of yarn…used and unused. it is going to a yarn exchange at a local library. I am NOT bringing any back home as I still have plenty. Also I do not feel guilty. It was a wonderful feeling to free myself of the unused, but loved, yarn. To those who are having a hard time letting your yarn go….let someone else enjoy it and use it. Thank you Nancy for bringing up getting rid of stash without the guilt!!
You make my day Nancy with your peptalk about yarn stash! this year, I knit a yarn that I bought 40 years ago and I’m so happy with the result. I will give some of my yarn to my local cultural center to make place for my new one. I love colours, textures, I need to figure new projects, buying yarn is a reel pleasure. it’s not a so expensive hobby as you said if compared to golf or fishing… finally I’m not guilty. Yé!
Oh my stash is huge and I do love it. I do sort through it every now and then and donate what I know I will never use. Sometimes I look at it and shake my head at the extravagance of it all. Don’t even get me started on my needle collection. Knitting is my joy and i knit for a few hours everyday, I could have worse habits! No guilt here. ❤
Thank you for your video! You didn't share what you were wearing. When you have a moment, could you please share what yarn used and pattern? It's very nice. Thanks in advance. 🙂
Hi! Nancy's cowl is called Zuzu's Petals Cowl. The pattern is on Ravelry. Nancy knit hers in our BSK fingering gradient but the pattern gives directions for all gauges, so any weight yarn would work- elegant in the fingering, warm and toasty in a super bulky like Malabrigo Rasta. Thanks for watching!
In your next episode can you talk a bit about 'Remember Me'? It seems that you emphasized baby knits. Did I misunderstand or is there a reason for that focus? I have a stack of new knits but it would primarily for adults.
I like to buy yarn that jumps out at me. My problem is i never buy enough for the project I finally decide to use it for..😮. Usually one skein of fingering yarn is enough for whatever I decide to knit. How do you decide how much yarn to buy??
I'm with everyone that is thankful for your thoughts on stash. I consider my yarn wall as a beautiful backdrop. I wish I had seen you at Rhinebeck. It was so much fun. You unexpectedly spent 78$ on one skein of yarn and I spent 90$ on a small amount of cheese and 2 Italian meats. I just went with it. It was a gift for my husband.
Thank you so much again. It is so nice how you share your experiens about wool. I can feel, how much you love wool when you speek about all this Things. Thank you again from Germany ❤❤ Maria ❤
hi Nancy, loved your "serious" talk! thank you. I have been feeling a little guilty about not using more stash and now I'm just trying to match up my yarn to all the lovely projects I want to make. I have a lot of beautiful one or two skeins so I'm looking for some basic, non-lace sweaters that are not just striped. I"m also having a hard time with figuring out how because I find most sweaters now are for worsted or DK and i have a number of fingering and I do not like pairing with mohair, it's itchy for me. So I'm kind of stuck and haven't been able to start a sweater. Do you have any advice? Thank you
Happy to find a Massachusetts store, - and you have been very enjoyable. I am a Boston all my life, but retired to SC - however, it is always home.
Oh you are so funny! I love love my stash and I am not getting rid of any except to knit it up!!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question with so much information. I am going to make the leap and try a non-superwash.
I loved your talk about yarn stash!! The best part is knowing that there are lots of other “yarnophiles “ out there 😂

Another great podcast! Thanks for clarifying and mentioning combining different yarns.
