I chuckled about your comment about the tucking of sweaters into pants/waist band. I find it not very attractive. Love that you are showing a variety of patterns. I agree about some designers that get certain gauges with yarns.

Hello Nancy. i enjoy the tips a lot. those Clover stitch holders are a blessing. i use them as my life line too. they are easy to pick up the stitches better then my knitting needle.

I can’t believe you answered a problem to something I have been researching all afternoon. I’m want to start the “Weekender” by Andrea Mowery and when I did a swatch gauge I found by stitch gauge right on but the row gauge was a bit longer. She asked for 18 stitches and to knit 27 rows for 4” using 9 needles. I met gauge with 18 stitches and 23 rows. So I’ve decided to just cast on and follow the pattern. What are your thoughts?

I am knitting my first Callioipe using Fibura Natura Cobblestone plus Koas Yarn brushed alpaca. I love the way the lace weight alpaca blurs the multicolored yarn into a softer blend of colors. Mine will also be next to skin soft and as the seasons are starting to change I am looking forward to wearing it.

Could you do any of your classes recorded or online? I would especially be interested in your toe up magic loop socks class. I live in NYC, so I can't come to your shop - though I wish I could because your shop seems wonderful and honestly better than the few we have in NYC. Sigh.

Oh my goodness Nancy, thank you for the math tips and the “tucking in” fashion 😮! I am from your generation and totally agree. 😱 Like you, I work my sleeves first and usually the neckband before I finished the body. Makes me happy to have a finished garment when the body is completed. ❤

Hi Nancy, what is the variegated yarn that you are using for the Calliope?

Nancy I don’t get it at all. Exactly for the same reasons

I like math so I created an excel spreadsheet that calculates everything for me. I have all of my measurements recorded. I can input my guage and it fills in the number of stitches that I need for each. It makes it easy to use different weight yarns, to hold 2 yarns together and so on. It has really helped me to knit sweaters that fit. If I weigh my swatch I can generally get pretty close on calculating how much yarn I need. If I am knitting from stash it cuts down on yarn chicken.

I love Agnes’ sweater knitted in Millstone Tweed. Could you tell me what pattern she used and what color of the yarn she used? So warm and cozy looking as fall is giving us temperatures in the 40’s at night here.

In NZ we have shearing competitions, a big one is called the Golden Shears. Plus they also shave their bums called crunching to remove the poop so they don't become fly-blown, which is a deadly situation for the sheep to be in.
