If you use the filter drain tool that comes with the oil filter you don't make as much of a mess on your driveway or cardboard. I put a plastic house on my drain tool(about 1 ft) that reaches the oil pan, and I just keep using it, it makes the job less messy! (The Toyota cartridge filter systems are a real shitty design, they finally figure that out and went back to a canister filter.) Other then that is was a great video.
My wife's '14 KIA Sorento also has cartridge style oil filters (no external housing)...however, they designed it the right way. In her car, you remove the oil filter from the top of the engine (i.e., under the hood). You simply screw off the top cap of the oil filter housing, lift out the old filter, toss it in a baggie, and pop in the new one. Toyota probably saved a half cent by designing it this way, thereby making it a messier job for such a common task.
And ya gotta love those Toyota engineers... they managed to somehow find a way to even prevent allowing a simple funnel from being inserted into the oil filler hole. Like, really Toyota?!? For all the people who claim to love their Toyotas, I've see more rust and bad design choices on these cars than on most others.

With newer engines and synthetic oils 10k miles/year should be good. However I suggest you check your dipstick periodically to see the oil condition beforehand.

No, it's not alright. Don't overfill with oil. The add oil mark on the dip-stick also represents the minimum safe level of oil. Anything below that is excessively low. The upper mark on the dip-stick represents the full mark or the maximum safe level. Anything above that is excessive or over-full. If it didn't matter then why even put a full mark on the dip-stick? Better to be a half quart below full than a half quart above full. And how is it that you bought an oil filter box that is for an oil filter that doesn't fit your Camry but that contained a different brand filter that does fit your Camry?
I think you are okay with using normal oil. The "High Mileage Oil" does have some additional additives, but as long as you have been properly maintaining your vehicle, you should be good.

So, not even any mention of draining the filter...! Or proper torque specs? The tool you linked to (Motivx MX2320) is the right tool but the one you are using is the wrong tool. If you check yours, the teeth on the wrench do not fully engage onto the tabs on the oil filter cap. The one you are using is for the 1.8 liter Corolla engine. The reason it is working at all is because the upper fluted part of all Toyota oil filter caps for cartridge systems is the same size (14 glutes/xxmm). Following torque specs will help prevent the oil filter cap from being stuck. (18 ft.lbs.)
At 4:02, it looks like it has 14 ridges on the inside. So it this tool correct? Asking because mine keeps slipping off, but I saw on another video there is a metal tab that needs to be bent to remove the filter (but I can't figure out how, or off that is really necessary).

BUT the tool being used is the same size as the Motivx MX2321 which is designed for use only on Toyota built engines that are 1.3 or 1.8 liters & have the cartridge style filters. All other Toyota built engines 2.0 liters and larger with cartridge oil filters use the Motivx MX2320 oil filter cap wrench. Both the Motivx MX2320 and the MX2321 wrenches are the same size in the top of the wrench (64.5 mm with 14 flutes) which is why the smaller wrench still works at all on the larger oil filter cap. BUT if you use the smaller wrench on the larger oil filter cap the slots on the bottom of the wrench will not engage with the tabs on the oil filter housing cap. If you use the correct larger wrench then the slots do properly engage with the tabs. The only time that has to be done is if you are using a steel cap wrench with slots in it that is designed for larger engines but your using it on the smaller 1.8 liter engine. As long as you're using a properly sized wrench, the retaining clip does not interfere with removing the oil filter cap.

Actually the Purolator box he claims the filter came out of is for a filter that doesn't fit this vehicle. Seems like someone switched out the filter to get it at a cheaper price. If it wasn't him then why buy a filter that isn't specified for this Camry? The correct Purolator filter would be the L25608 and not the L25609.

Did you even notice that there's a 3/8" piece right on the filter housing? You don't even need the removal tool, just a 3/8" extension. You can see it clearly at 3:34. Also put your o ring on before you put the filter in 🤦
Hard to endure this video. The lack of cleanliness is just insane! The grime and contaminants from the ground applied to the surfaces are hair-raising knowing what you're introducing to the outstanding quality of the Toyota and it's VERY fine internal tolerances. Yes, the filter was incorrect and it begs the question, why would you NOT use the Toyota brand filter when it's probably less expensive than the crappy one you used which is incorrect and why didn't you bother to clean that oil filter housing? I'm guessing that funnel was also grimy. Appreciate that you took the time to make the video, but man, this is more a tutorial about how NOT to do an oil change on these amazing cars if you really want yours to last. Yikes!
Looks like a Royal Purple filter to me but definitely not a Purolator. (And not an L25609 as he says at 6:08) Does this mean the video was produced by a thief? The Purolator L25609 doesn't even fit this vehicle. It's too long. The correct Purolator would be the L25608. Stick with 6 months/5000 miles (or 8000 km), even with synthetic oil.

Depending on when your last oil change was, one possibility is to just do a drain and fill. Skip the filter change this time.
