Hey - This was a nice surprise. Thank you so much for making this! Development has been progressing pretty quickly lately and there's only 2 fighters remaining to have their specials and projectiles complete before I'll be putting out a limited release beta ISO for testing. If you are interested let me know.
Thank you for taking the time to revitalize & preserve 3DO history! Love what you’re doing 🙏🏼 Would love to participate in testing! E-mail info is in my bio :)

This project definitely has gone under the radar. I’ve been following on TH-cam and look forward to it. Not a huge MK2 fan but I have a 3DO and will definitely be giving this a try. Huge props to the man making this happen. 🙌
It’s interesting how 3DO was this premium luxury product that 99% of my friends never saw or played. Just saw it in magazines and remember it being so mysterious and cool! Thank you for these videos.
The closest I had to a friend having a 3DO was my neighbor who had a CD-i and a SNES. I had a Sega CD and 32X. Edit: Burn Cycle on CD-i seemed very impressive at the time.
My dad worked for Sony when I was a kid. I was gifted a 3DO by my dad’s boss and so we had a 3DO and it was my first system. It’s weird to think that my first consol was a 3DO. ❤ amazing video. I love anything about the 3DO and its history. I never knew about this mortal kombat 2 port until seeing this video.
That's awesome to hear!! I know the 3DO gets a bad rap, but I've heard about the awesome games it *did* have. I've never played one myself, but Ihope you had a good time!

3DO was definitely a premium system back in the day. Due to the high price, it was a mere novelty that most couldn’t afford, and it’s supreme technology couldn’t compete with the SNES SEGA 16 bit wars that were running hot.
I kind of had a feeling when I saw your vid that you were going to discuss this project. I've been following all the development of this project for a bit and it's shaping up to be the most arcade accurate version of this game on a console. Mk2 is still my favorite, mostly because I have great memories of playing this in a local pizza joint, but it's nice to see someone giving this game the port it always deserved. There's also a really great HB port of MK1 coming to the Juguar that's looking arcade accurate.
As the biggest 3DO fan ever as a teenager collecting absolutely everything, I suddenly flashed back to that feeling of extreme desire for this... Hoping for a professional style pressing and release if perhaps the good license holders will allow it...
What's crazy to me is that he's porting the arcade data, not using any of the existing 32-bit ports like the 32X, Saturn and I believe MK2 was released on PlayStation 1 in Japan.
As kids growing up we all had and loved the mega drive, but there was this one kid with a 3DO and he would always say how much better he was because of it. Standard come back was at least we have MK
Damn, I never even knew this existed. I rarely even saw 3DO displays in stores when I was younger, and only saw Space Ace, Street Fighter Alpha, and some obscure medieval game where your character was being chased by a skeleton.
I really admire the work put into the port, but why does everyone insist on putting their own (bad)touches on everything? It seemed to be an almost better-than-arcade port until the end.
You were saying it like there was a port back in the day that was never released. I was already subbed to 3dohd and the project is cool, but felt a little click baited.
Neon, thank you for the video. 3DO HD has something impressive going. I loved seeing that parallax, and the added fatalities are neat (especially the pixel-shatter one). I no longer have a 3DO, but it's great to see how MK2 would go on that system. Hopefully the RAM (2 MB main & 1 MB VRAM) will suffice.
I got my hands on a 3DO, and a stack of games, from a video rental place that went out of business in the late 90s. No one had heard of it so no one else bid. I got it for like $9
I was one of the lucky few to have a 3DO back in the 90s, and I remember being super excited about a MK2 port when rumors starting going around about one. But it never happened. Its cool to see someone doing this now, but I wouldn't go track down the hardware today just to play it.
Live your videos and the topics you bring. Genuine question and not a smart ass moment - was it not Night Trap that kicked off the rating system on the SEGA CD?
Back in the early 90's, I never got the appeal of the original Mortal Kombat. Yeah, the Fatalities were cool, but the game play to me wasn't that great. So I still played Street Fighter II... UNTIL Mortal Kombat II came out.
@@JeffMcDuffie72MeridianGate they had an ok selection at a few stores n magazines but this video is about a private developer who's been working on MK2 for 3do for a while now.. idk if u watched the whole video but that's what its about

This is very reminiscent of the work being done to port Mortal kombat to the Atari Jaguar by TRU FUN Games. Very impressive and great work to all involved.
Had 2 3do's back in the 90's. It was geared more toward adults when adults weren't really playing. Had the Sega CD and the 32x also. And the Philips CDI.
I first heard of 3DO all the way back in early 2000s when I purchased a pirated copy of Road Rash pc port where the cover art mentioned RoadRash 3D. I was like where is the 3d? the bikes look like textures. Ah good old days.
If 3do and Jaguar were to get MK2, it might have made those systems last a bit longer! I think the fact that Sony had MK3 for the PS1 when it was released really hurt the Sega Saturn!
It's amazing looking back now and remembering the ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE over this game. The "blood effects" are so comically overdone and unrealistic by modern standards.
I know the 32 bit versions of the Mortal Kombat games were and are closer to the arcade game, but I actually prefer Mortal Kombat on the SNES and Genesis. I like the more cartoony graphics to the more "realistic" look of the arcade games.
I never could afford a 3do either back then, had the snes and genesis, played those ports and of course the arcade versions. I had a friend that had one though, along with the neo geo, and we used to play sf2 on the 3do along with snes version. IMO though arcade version still is where its at
Any chance to get the Bevis and Butthead arcade game on this system? I heard that it's for the 3DO system. But I'm not a sure if it's for the 3DO system, or the Atari Jaguar. I've been wanting to play that game, but only a few arcades exist that are still functioning. Does anyone have any info about it being ported?
Staple of gaming in the 90s? Nah maybe in the suburbs 😅 this piece of garbage was so expensive I literally knew one kid who owned it...he lived in the burbs lol😅.

thanks for the informative video. I actually own MK II for Playstation ( only released in Japan). That is a very rare copy. I knew about the 3-D-O port. However, was never too interested in purchasing it. I knew about it because on my hyperspin game system, they have it listed on there to play. I still love collecting video games. However, one thing that is very disappointing... there are so many different versions of MK II released on practically every game system you can think of. On the contrary, nothing beats the arcade version of MKII! I wish they would have released an arcade version of MK II for PS1/Saturn ( because the versions for them systems suck!).
