I know you don't like stun, but the sour staff is amazing against wasps. You send a shot straight ahead as they begin to charge, and without fail almost every time it will stop them in their tracks. As for the splatburst, they are pretty useful in the earlier game because they can break certain things that the normal bratbursts cannot (for example, charcoal chunks) 😊
Yeah but it's much easier to get a tier 2 hammer than craft a bunch of bombs to break some charcoal. As for the wasps they have a 20 sec stun cooldown so typically I use a dagger with bleed and poison
Mint staff hits hard and stuns, and the slow is not bad at all. And the fact it shoots an aoe is what makes it truly worth using. Spread poison/venom/bleed on groups using this and spicy staff
Nice video I think the Sour staffs' ability to interrupt attacks puts it in S tier for me. Like if a bug gets hit by a sour ball while starting an attack animation (like termites) or charging at you (like wasps) they just stop. It's not a stun machine anymore after the stun nerfs, but it's definitely a stagger monster. Also mint staff loses to fresh scimitar, but if you're using the other staffs as well then you're probably wearing moth armor, which really pumps it's dps, especially in defense events. Not comparable to melee still, but definitely a valid choice for close ranged situations.
4:55 blaster of the mouldy yes is a bad combat weapon, but as you said, after with the bomb arrow it has a strong use. Since it is a tier 3 weapon and an explosive, it is really easy to harvest stuff with it. The best part about it that makes it better than the bomb arrow in my opinion is that it is reusable and repairable instead of using raw science, every time you want to clear out the forest of grass all you need to do is grab a blaster of the mouldy. 💣🍄
I saw this video 24 minutes after killing the Infected Broodmother and I feel even better knowing that the matriarch sucks because now I can make the chair.
The only use I found for the Ice Staff is when you break web sacks of Widowlings, you can stun lock and group kill each spawn with ease. Other than that, it’s bad.
@@droid5785 Not worth the effort and doesn't work on bigger bugs. Only small hoards of smaller ones and Widowlings are the most dangerous of the smaller bugs.

And similar to mint mace, since it does entirely mint damage it can be better against some creatures that can resist something like slashing. I just wish charge attacks worked, would make it disgusting with black ox armor :(
I think that the super gas should be in S tir like the fire rounds bc they basically do the same. They make an area that the bugs get hurt by. I do believe that the super gas has a bigger area of effect, and you can shoot it from a bow, unlike the fire rounds.
the technique to using mint staffs is to slow down enemies before they can reach you. that way, they can't attack you but will do insane damage specially when you upgrade them to 9 which 2 shots fire ants, 2-3 for ladybird larva, 4-5 I think for ladybird. if they manage to get near first then the strategy is to block first and then attack while backing away. the crazy thing I don't like about using staffs is when you're defending and can't use them specially the spicy staff as it literally 1-2 shot every player structure which makes the bard bow more useful when fighting flying creatures.
Problem is they usually just end up attacking you anyway, so might as well use a melee weapon as it becomes much easier to block than the staves which have massive block delay

Before they buffed the staff it was pretty bad. Also you forgot to mention about the moldy weapon is you have to beat the Mant as well because you need Wendell to get the recipe for it

I agree about the mint staff I made it and it sucks. I made the spicy one now and it was useful for helping me kill the brood mother for the first time and the second time I want to craft the sour stuff just to see if I could use that as my ranged weapon, but there is no way in the world that I’m gonna be able to get a tier 3 dagger just yet so oh well
I would disagree with the spicy arrow in D, and would go for B instead. Cha Cha's are more plentiful these days so making them is not hard, you get them early game, you can find them in labs for free refills, and the part that I feel makes them worth B tier, is you can carry them with you and when you come across an aphid of weevil, you can shoot them for a full meal and heal if you need it. Plus lots of enemies are weak to spicy, but its mostly the utility for me.
@@noah_abel you miss the 'early game' part? Coaltana requires it's own special event to unlock and the staves require getting to, and through, the woodpile. Spicy arrows you can find day 1 with a shovel digging in the sandbox. There are better weapon choices, that wasn't the point of my post, you can achieve the same effect with a spicy pebblet spear after all.

I think Mint Staff deserves at least B tier. I use it all the time to kill annoying ass fire ants, it's really strong against annoying ass wasps, and the area damage is also very useful in situations where you get swarmed. I recommend giving it a shot again. The slow is sometimes useful as well. I'm definitely biased though as I enjoy the design and playstyle.
Nah ur correct, it is actually strong. Something like a fresh toenail scimitar is similar and might do more DPS, but lacks stun, bonus range, and extra effects
My opinion spicy staff op. Gas arrows mainly for the wasp queen fight, destroys the drones. I think turrets need to be automatic it's just not viable compared to fighting on the ground.

I kill moths with ease using that staff while I struggle to kill a moth with the Sour staff since its prjectiles are to slow for me. But none the less great list

Bardic is NOT a group mutation only. You can give yourself 10% crit, or dmg, or dmg reduction. Ppl suck coup de grass so hard and yet ignore a chance at 10% crit. If you dont get the crit you still get a SOLID buff for a solid duration
I'm halfway through day 3 of your ranged only playthrough and I'm really glad you are finally getting some experience with ranged weapons because your ranged lists have always been severely lacking. I'm trying to be nice with that assessment. Ranking things you have little-to-no experience with should always be avoided, even for views. Especially with the quality of your other videos. They are all top-tier and sort of set an expected standard.
Yeah but it also gives a viewpoint from someone that doesn't like ranged due to it's lack of damage and variety. I think my list would change a lot though now having beat the game using only ranged weapons.
Gas arrows should be at B tier. I use them to farm gnat meat at the lamp during the night. I created a collection system and shot 1 gas arrow and have tons of meat.
My experience with the mint staff is quite good, in the upper yard a good portion of enemies are weak to mint, and since the staff can attac in are it is really powerfull against ladybird larvas, i disagree with your placement but understand that compared to other staffs it is quite meh
I think it'd be cool to have a protective barrier of some sort using the salt staff. Physics in the game might not allow, but picture a white sour staff shot that can give +HP to yourself and allies. Or just salt swirling around you in a circle but mint staff is already fairly similar
Hey, I am trying to get good poison builds and bleed builds going. But I am confused as to which mutations / trinkets to take. I know you mentioned mixing the fire ant, BW and the Assasin sets for a corrosion / bleed build. But would that work too for poison just with diff mutations? Or should I be focusing on just a full set of say Black widow? Thanks!
For poison specifially widow armor is best as each piece increases poison damage but you could use the mask of the mother demon for a chance at extra venom and poison effects.
Where’s the salt staff?? Weird to not have it, and the infected broodmother bomb needs to be sticky and not have it damage the player. Really bummed out when I found out what it actually does, doesn’t make sense since it’s literally the last weapon you get. Should have made it really something to look forward to, missed the mark imo. On woah mode it really doesn’t work, everything is to beefy for it.

Problem is that its barely a ranged weapon. You need to almost be in melee range. Love the weapon but definitely needs more range.

Yeah turrets can only really be viable in multiplayer, I never use them in solo

You can just use meat slurry to attract them to melee them
