My grandmas name was also Irene. She was my hero, an absolute angel, and I miss her dearly. I would give anything to have her laugh with my wife and meet my children. This was a lovely song and brought up some wonderful memories.
I m from Lithuania and I was watching you for some time. You just surprise me a lot with this song . ačiū tau už gražią dainą :). sėkmės !!! Perduok linkejimus iš Lietuvos savo močiutei.
This is really beautiful, Anne. Your singing is gorgeous and obviously filled with feeling. Having read the explanation, I’m really touched by your connection with your grandma. It’s wonderful that you’re singing this in her memory and also sharing it with all of us. Have a great vacation.
Such songs as this have such beautiful imagery and simple lyrics and the melody is so sweet. An innocence I have missed in music for decades now. I love hearing traditional songs such in their native tongue. The phonics are part of the beauty. Beautifully sung and shot. Very endearing and tender.
Beautiful song. Thank you for sharing that and your Grandma's memory. Lithuanian has always interested me, since it is considered to be the oldest surviving Indo-European language, containg features believed to have been present in the early stages of the Proto-Indo-European language. You're very lucky to have those roots in your family linguistics. Thanks for including the lyrics. 😀❤👍
Hey, my great grandparents came from Lithuania, too! Their Americanized name was Green. Her maiden name was Kaleida. I'm sure she would have enjoyed listening to you sing. You sang this song beautifully, and your dress reminds me of the lyric from Al Stewart's song, "The Year of the Cat": "She comes out of the sun, in a silk dress, running like a watercolor in the rain..."
We Oklahomans are a talented bunch but not many can sing a Lithuanian folk song in such a beautiful way. Or any other song for that matter. Thank you very much for this video.
You have taken this song and transformed it into 3 minutes and 20 seconds of angelic beauty. I don't speak the language of the song, but if your pronunciation is half as good as the singing and accompaniment, then you might just have set a new standard for performing it. Bravissima!
Anne usually surprises, never disappoints. Although I'm an American of Irish descent, I appreciate many legitimate folk songs of various countries. This is a real pleasant song that Ms Reburn magnificently performs.
Folk music is such a wonderful, and truly global tradition. I doubt there are many places in the world that don't have some form of old music, shared through a community rather than a centralized record label
What a wonderful, delicate voice, and such a sweet song. And, thank you so much for sharing that bit of personal history. These are the things that enrich the experience and make it so memorable. ALSO...since performers are always looking for ways to increase views, what if this is it for you (Ms. Reburn)? What if performing these kinds of traditional songs (with historical/cultural context) is the next thing to generate clicks? You may need a seprate channel for it, but you'd be soooo good at it.
Thank you for your emotional personal story! I know you many years and I had no Idea that you have some lithuanian origin. That's great in America we can find all the nations melted to one. I'd like to tell my own story about my grandfather Alexey. He was in Lithuania in 1944. And I want to say he was atheist all his life long. When he dead in his 93 years old in 2016 another relatives decided to make classic orthodox christian ceremony, but I tell them some antireligion jokes. They was confused but I know he was happy ho see their faces.
Hi Anne! Whatever happened to your cover of ABBA's 'Lay All Your Love on Me' ? I remember it from years ago but I can't seem to find it anywhere on your channel. Your rendition was my favorite cover of the song :( thanks!
I have Lithuanian ancestry through my father's family line, but I know nothing of the culture. My great-great grandfather immigrated to upstate New York from Lithuania, and his sons (including my great grandfather) owned an apple orchard together. My great grandfather died before I was born. My grandfather was a jerk who was mostly absent from my dad's life when he was growing up, and I barely knew him, so I never really got to experience any "Lithuanian-ness" when I was growing up.
My grandmas name was also Irene. She was my hero, an absolute angel, and I miss her dearly. I would give anything to have her laugh with my wife and meet my children. This was a lovely song and brought up some wonderful memories.
Beautiful singing, beautiful song, beautiful person. Thank you so much Anne!
Absolutely beautiful. My heart and my soul are melting.
Lovely rendition Anne! Thanks for sharing your gift with the world. Best.
