I didn't realise until Kempy said it, but he's right. Teddy, Cleary, Yeo, Murray, Api. Honestly, there's too many captains, and they're all a bit selfish. Everyone plays for and listens to DCE. It looked like every blues player was playing for a glory moment.

Talking about Teddy - I was on the NoseBleeds about 6 weeks ago and said that teddy touches the ball way too many times a set and that with him "less is more" and 6 weeks later the boys are starting to see it and say the same things. As a die-hard chooks fan I'm kind of glad that he's starting to see some criticism because unfortunately he's been extremely poor at club level and at the first chance it's carried straight over to rep footy.

Got a honest question for you Kempy. As a Queensland fan I believe the Penrith boys club is starting to weaken the plays for nsw like if you don’t have a penrith edge you don’t get the ball and it looks predictable. For example did you see JAC get the ball in good field position and even last year staggs barely got a shot. Maybe my opinion is wrong but I’m just curious

    • @BlokeInABar
      @BlokeInABar  ปีที่แล้ว +8

Its tough to say. Is it the Penrith boys that are clunky or is it the players around them struggling to adjust. I'm not too sure. I will say if NSW lose this series I think a major shake up is needed. I'd probably only keep Cleary To'o Martin and maybe Yeo on the bench. Then I'd run with Cook at 9 (if hes still in form) Cody Walker or Hynes at 6. Murray at 13.
Then the question will be around fullback. If teddys form continues to struggle into next season they may look to put Turbo back there. I think Teddy has done enough for the state to warrant selection for this year though.
So yeah if this continues this series I think there will be a massive shake up and that "Penrith core"' wont be as big of an influence in the side. I personally wouldn't write the Blues of just yet though. Still 2 more games to get it done.

Kempy’s d riding of Nathan Cleary is so embarrassing. We are a year on from last years bs performances and yet again he fails to deliver in big origins.
Guru brought up so many good points and every single time Kempy was so dismissive of them and instead decided to put the blame on Teddy and the coaches. He’s now played 15 origins as Guru said, which is only 5 less than DCE, but yet he still can’t perform with some of the best players at his disposal.
I understand he’s a great player but sometimes players aren’t made for origin. At the moment he’s playing like he’s a passenger when everyone needs him to be the man. I was truly expecting big things from him this series and If we have to wait until he is 30 for him to deliver in a origin game then maybe we should look elsewhere until then. Anyway big shoutout to the Guru for calling out his performance as it was extremely disappointing.

@@BlokeInABar Kempy I love you but stop getting so offended and telling people to “relax” when they voice something about what you’ve said.
You want people to voice their opinion! You want engagement! It’s only engagement that will make this thing grow! So you should be ENCOURAGING people to have a go at you. The reason Guru has been good for your show is that he’s not afraid to offer a dissenting opinion; on a player, on a team or whatever. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE LISTEN. If your whole show was all three panel members saying the same shit and all agreeing with each other and patting every player and team on the back, I’d honestly stop listening and I probably wouldn’t be the only one.
Every listener that takes the time to write a comment saying “Kempy you’re a goose mate I can’t believe you said…..” is a listener that is ENGAGED to your content and is more likely to keep listening and buying your beer and your merch. Which Is what you want right? And what WE want is being able to listen to your content and hearing diverse opinions and then being able to engage with you about them- it’s pretty cool.
Not a hater, love your shit kempy it honestly gets me through the week mate so much appreciated

    • @twinston943
      @twinston943 ปีที่แล้ว

Kempy just understands that Cleary is a freak but for some reason something is blocking that sheer ability at Origin time. If you took off your Penrith hater goggles you would understand. There is a reason he has led the team to 3 straight grand finals, winning the last 2 and now top of the table and on for a three peat. You simply can’t leave him out. Also Cleary has performed at Origin (won a couple, played one of the best games from a half in game 2 last year), he just needs to step up and drag NSW to a series win by himself to silence the haters. It will happen, could still happen this year. That said I still agree that he hasn’t stepped up as the man of the series as yet.

Sorry Kemp but Cleary is rapidly becoming the next Origin Mitchell Pearce. You keep making excuses for him "he's only 25" etc. when Guru is giving you perfect logic as to why he's not what you believe he is (already played 6 series, isn't closing out games when he should etc.). At this point I'd prefer Reynolds and bring in Hynes once Reynolds retires - or just get Hynes in there now and he'll own Origin far sooner than Cleary every could (well, Cleary won't own it ever). How many more years are you going to be making excuses for the guy - "oh he's only 30"? Time to get off the nuts buddy!!!

You always talk about stats don't matter but cant see that Cleary is clearly bad. Luai also has a 50% win rate and plays better than Cleary at origin but you want hynes or walker at 6. Both our halves are horrible and you guys keep sucking Tedesco and Cleary because you're hypnotised by the chin.

yeo needs to go and bring another front rower on the bench, no room for both yeo and murray. murray is the far better player and should get the start at 13. no point having nicho on the bench as a “utility” may as well have him 18th man and put burton on the bench who’s a more versatile player who can play in the centres if the only time freddy is gonna put him on is in the centres with 15 to go. turbo is broken, needs to go for campbell graham. for a team that plays every week together, the penrith blues are shocking.

Also they need to make these Polynesian brahs choose their loyalty. They’re guns and if you wanna be a blue then sweet you in otherwise bye. If you play for a team other than Australia save a World Cup year, qld drop you. It’s an unwritten rule.
We should bin club footy during origin week and play a four nations tournament with all the islander countries they give so much to our game and deserve their own origin like comp. This would fix so much problems players would pick one and not be missing out

Add that to the lack of effect the old ‘up to the line, back away from the line, crab it sideways and crowd my team-mates’ has now that he is lacking pace you have part of NSW’s problem. Summed up Reece Walsh perfectly, Billy is the best coach he could have had for his Origin debut, Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennet combined couldn't have coached him better for his debut.
He went out there, didn't try to be pretty, didn't do his usual antics and run like a maniac, he just played his role, his special tricks will come with time, Billy will give him his license when Reece is ready, but for now, just go out there, play your role and get the job done. He was more influential than Teddy who was running around and going off like a bull in a china shop. How's that? Infact Teddy made multiple blunders, he missed multiple tackles 1 of those being his job at fullback to stop the Hammer and he......fell over..................he just fell over, nothing happened to him, he didn't get rammed by Maika Sivo or picked up and dumped like Nelson Asofa-Solamona........he just fell.
Reece was exceptional for his debut.
QLD just did it again. "Adversity? What's adversity? We don't do that around here".

Every 5.7 minutes, there was a penalty. Very poor Ref. The ref called about 6-7 penalties that were not needed. The Ref had a major impact on the game and was my man of the match . Reminded me of the 80's . Go, Queensland, you just can't stop them.

And the matter of fact is you’ve said even he’s still done well even if they lose?
Cmon mate rlly? That ain’t no mindset Nsw fans will go into thinking oh it’s all goods 😂😂I feel Guru’s pain he’s bang spot on and his 7 can’t take the next step and can’t get simple criticism from up above

Hey Kempy question for you brah, if Turbo isnt able to play Game 2 due to that concussion or injury would you consider putting Critta and Bizza on the right and Trell and the fox on the left? Would also mean both wingers and centres playing on their preferred sides (not that I know what im talking about?)

Sick of hearing excuses for NSW. Saying it’s harder for the NSW team to win now, because QLD used to have Cronk, Slater and Smith in the same storm and QLD team ? 😂 bruh NSW currently have Cleary, Luai, Yeo, Martin, To’o, Crichton plus Api.... all back to back premiers in the same team. NSW SHOULD LITERALLY FLOG QLD EVERY YEAR AND STILL CANT EVEN RUN BASIC SHAPE

I think the issue is we are playing like Panthers in Blue
Origin needs something a bit different, not club combos. Slater can watch 3 years of tape on Penrith to just pick apart the Blues if that's the plan
And when it's just Penrith plays, Teddy seems isolated and the Penrith boys just seem to play around players like Murray and Turbo instead of bringing them into it
The best NSW has looked has been the years Teddy was connecting with Cook and Murray. Turbo was linking with Latrell and Fox.. nothing to do with Penrith players
Origin should be the best players in their position, not just the players from the best team.

This game was deadset identical to game 1 last year. NSW dominate possession and do nothing with it. There’s no cohesion, no collective understanding of what we’re actually trying to do with the ball.
We’re great at making meters but do fuck all at the end of it, we attacked like headless chooks last night. Compare that to QLD who get one chance to attack our line and know exactly what they want to do, they stack numbers on one side, everyone’s in position and they strip us for numbers. We have the quality but we aren’t playing to any of our strike players’ strengths, it’s like there’s 3 or 4 different groups out there all trying to play their own way.
The only hope I’ve got is that we turned it around game 2 last year and looked 10x better, hope we can do it again.

I'd put LM either FB and leave Critta at left centre, put CG at right centre(position he plays a club level), Nicho in for Luai purely so you can have half on either side of the ruck with the FB just roaming. Otherwise Edwards FB, LM centre, CG centre and Nicho 6. Drop TPJ, sutto replaced Leniu, Saifiti and have cookie and Api

Teddy doing too much, if you watch Walsh he doesn’t wana hog the ball and get runs in he waits for the set plays back balls and plays what’s in front of him from there, when they need teddy at the back of plays he’s playing the ball from taking a run off dummy. Put turbo at the back, latrell at left with addo car , crichton/graham and too on right edge.
