    Great video, Guy. Really helpful. I'm staying in Pickering for a week over Christmas, so I'll be taking my gravel bike and exploring the forest. Red routes look perfect

    Great video! I ride Dalby a lot on road, gravel & MTB, so enjoyed seeing the familiar routes. It’s easy to extend gravel routes east to Broxa forest and/or north into Langdale forest and then across to Hole of Horcum and Cropton forest. That boggy section on Stonygate Moor stays boggy even in summer, but can be bypassed to the south by continuing out of Dalby towards Warren House and taking a track west that rejoins the bridleway after the bog

      Thanks Rebecca, I was just trying out the legal bridleway as I was filming but I know the track you mean.

    I always loved that Dalby Forest XC course. You should have taken the new Blur on that course, as it would have been perfect! Maybe when you test the new Blur TR? Because of your great video there, I bought my Tallboy 4! Visiting Santa Cruz bikes in California soon! Thx for such great content and I support you on Patreon!

    I have run Rutlands for a couple of years and love them.
    My first set were 700c x 42 and they were excellent on almost every surface, even cutting through the mud to find grip somewhere below.
    I got a new 650b wheelset and went for 47mm Rutlands and found they weren't quite as grippy in the slop. Still excellent on all other surfaces though.
    Haven't tried them on the Frensham sand yet. The 700c x 42 struggled a bit.

    You should follow the Moors & Shores route starting up at Adderstone Field and heading out the top of Dalby up to Robin Hoods Bay, back into Dalby on the road parallel to Forest Drive Scarborough end. Last time I saw you riding a tandem in Dalby you took it round solo?!! 😁 Yorvik Mountain Bike club with Jake, Dale Harlow et al. Good times. I’d just started riding back then, roughly 1994? 😯

    Thanks for uploading, I’m heading up to Dalby Forest this weekend after modifying my commuter for gravel.
    I hope you don’t mind but I just sent you a Strava friend request because I want to pinch the GPX for this ride! Sorry if that’s cheeky!

      Ended up riding it today and it was a cracking route with a bit of everything; really great to have a departure from road riding & hard to believe I’ve not done it before!
      It was more like a baptism of dust than dirt until that last section at the end which was still boggy despite all the dry weather we’ve been having.
      Thanks again - much appreciated 👍

    Nice video. Love Dalby Forest. Question though on this phenomenon of gravel….I’ve got a 2010 Specialized Tricross Comp. You’ll know the one….it’s got “suicide brakes!” How will the geo on this differ from current “gravel” bikes? Is gravel a halfway house between mountain biking and cyclocross? Keep up the sterling work!

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep, I know the one. Great bikes TBF and basically an early gravel bike. The geometry hasn’t changed much you just get disc brakes, room for bigger tyres and lots of bolt holes for various bits and pieces.

    Haha... that boggy bit you found after the low gate and "The Field Of Dreams"... not even worth it in summer unless you're going to drop in to Dalby on the off piste - Next time, just follow the farm track another 400 yds or so further down and you can take the track that avoids that little wood run right down past the tip to Thornton.

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’ve done that bit while on the way to the off piste but was trying to keep it officially legal 🤦‍♂️ I know for next time though.

    So, 'Mrs. K' doesn't have an identity other than wifehood? No first name?
    I think it's always so weird with men. They could just simply use their partner's name but instead it's usually 'the wife' or 'my wife.' It's not cute.. It honestly seems pathological. What an odd, and petty, little assertion of power. Boring
    Just an observation 🤮

    • @GuyKesTV
      @GuyKesTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mrs K is Sarah, 'the boss', 'management' and a whole lot of other names over the 26 years we've been together. Apologies that something that's never been an issue for me or her has upset you but I can assure you it's not intended as an assertion of power. I know exactly where the power is in our family and it's Sarah and my two awesome daughters.
      Before you ask Sarah also rides a solo bike regularly but she prefers me to pilot the tandem as I'm a more experienced rider in terms of picking lines and judging speed etc. If you know anything about tandems though you'll know the stoker is absolutely crucial in actually getting the bike to go where it needs to and keeping it powering forward when I'm all on with the steering.
