Would be interesting to know what the odds of making it to the nba today vs the 90’s. Just seems like 90’s basketball was so intense with so many hall of famers
Honestly, load management is one of the biggest spits in the face to fans. Not only does it allow players to be lazy but in the case of LeBron James and I hate bringing this up randomly in this video but that's why his career has been able to extend so far. Because they let him take months at a time off and rest and rest and rest and rest. If he can't play and has no legitimate injury then he should retire
I think there is some anecdotal good result for it especially if its a team that is good enough to coast for the regular season and will do their damage in the playoffs. Like the Warriors playoff run in the mid-late 2010s where those years took an absolute physical toll on Steph and Klay who would get put on the shelf for a year or so with key injuries. With that said those teams are usually made up of vets so obviously older bodies need less wear and tear throughout the season. I think the results get muddled when you get pure injury cases like Kawhi, old PG, Anthony Davis or Zion in the mix when those guys just have chronic injuries they deal with that will take them out of the regular season for long stretches.
To be fair here, he played most games of the season most seasons for like 15 years, while being in the Finals straight for 8. But I do agree, he does miss a lot now
I think a fair compromise is minute restrictions(let's use GSW as an example). Basically let the bench players start and play big minutes 27-30 mins. Steph,Klay and draymond then play around 20 mins. And then at the same time they do autograph sessions for kids and take free photos. They're still getting some physical rest but they're being involved.
You kinda make it sound like his conditioning issues would just fix themselves if he went to the Knicks. In New York. Where every block has a pizza place. Not sure we're thinking this through.
I think it’s the idea that he wanted or wants to be in New York so if he got there he’d actually be motivated to fix his conditioning issues and play the damn game. I also don’t think we’re living in a timeline where this guy will ever give enough of a shit to get his health and conditioning right but it’s at least theoretically possible that if he makes it to the place he wanted or wants to go that he’d finally get his shit together.
This is my mindset: if I'm getting paid $30 million per year, I'm gonna play like $30 million per year. It would motivate me to train harder and play my best. I definitely wouldn't be sitting around and impregnating every p-star I meet. 😂
But I mean in order to have the baseline to even be offered that 30 million, you gotta be at least 6'6", move gracefully while carrying 270 lbs of your weight while being able to put the ball in a hoop. I think it just says a lot about the psychology of people who have those gifts and take an opportunity that they have for granted. While those who don't have those gifts/traits would obviously think differently if they were offered the same opportunity and life changing money. So the athletes getting a chance to be offered contracts are living a different world anyway. But we can most certainly question their professional integrity because even non athletes have that.
Part of the problem is these new super talents get almost super max contracts right out of college. They have no financial incentive to work hard. Instead the incentive is to get paid and do as little work as possible. If he started out with a million a year and maybe more next year If he does well then he might work harder to get that raise.
Agreed on questioning these athletes desires and attitudes for the sport as their occupation. To add their line of work is different than others doing a 9 to 5 because not only is it sports entertainment, but they operate as contracted workers where the franchise owner signs them on a deal based on rules agreed with the NBA and NBPA which is the CBA. These players obviously got to work NBA due to their skills but how they apply their mindset decides how consistent they are bringing their best version of themselves their workplace. As for Zion, he's certainly consistent at delivering a different message than the ones he's obligated to tell basketball media.
I just don’t understand the contract structuring to begin with. How did he even qualify for a 200 million bag? How did Desmond Bane get 207 million? Elite money used to mean elite player, now everyone can get it if you play for a sorry franchise like New Orleans. Ugh, this makes my head hurt
Atp put me in for Zion and give me all the money he has so I can try a lot more harder on the court. The fact that he is trade bait after signing a max deal is just tempting to me
Not appreciating your genetic gifts is sickening. I'd move heaven and earth to be in his shoes, and I'd be damn if you EVER saw me breathing like that on the bench. He has the capability of being a LeBron level talent, he just doesn't care. He's about the life it provides him, NOT the game.
You brought up a great point with the league has no one to be upset with but themselves it's been pretty well known for a few decades now that the league likes to influence where draft picks go and he was a prime target for New Orleans the league knew that and they pushed that same thing with the San Antonio Spurs in Victor Wenbanyama.
But the crazy thing about Zion is he never wanted to be in New Orleans in the first place the league knew that but they didn't care so I kind of get how his love for the sport can sort of die a little bit because he's in f****** raggedy ass New Orleans

Maybe Zion really does hate basketball. Genuine question: Is it possible that there is a legitimate health reason to explain Zion's behavior? Depression or mono, for example. Do NBA players ever admit to having mental health problems? I have no idea. It has become not uncommon in other sports including tennis, and including male athletes. How is the NBA going to solve the problem if it's true that Zion is just not very motivated and doesn't need to show up in order to get paid? Or is it the problem of the team's owners? It's going to be very difficult for NBA investigators to prove that someone is faking a soft tissue injury or a concussion and almost certainly a player could find a doctor to provide a diagnosis like that regardless of whether it's ummm completely accurate. I thought we had reached a point where we realized that concussions have potentially very serious long-term consequences. And that any athlete suffering from one must take as much time as needed to properly recover. If "concussion" starts to be used as a not-legit-seeming reason for players to avoid playing, it again trivializes "concussion" as an excuse for malingering. That is very bad for athletes (and the public in general) who have a genuine concussion and who are very sensitive to accusations of "faking it to avoid returning to work." This can cause them to return before they have completely recovered and put them at greater risk for negative outcomes. Not that I have any personal experience in this matter. Fun fact: One of the most successful tennis players of all time, Andre Agassi, hates tennis. He always did. His father forced him and his siblings to train hard from the age of seven up in order to become the world #1 player someday. Agassi's autobiography is the best sports autobiography I have ever read. Despite being an easy read, there are a lot of insightful, philosophical themes interwoven with quite an eventful and occasionally celebrity-studded life. Highly recommend! Thank you for the video! 🙏🎃🦾🐈⬛👻✨
NBA players talk about mental health a lot, actually. Kevin Love, Ron Artest, Ricky Rubio, Demar DeRozan, just to name a few, all spoke about their struggles regarding mental health, and how seeking out professional help led to improvements on and off the court.

People should REALLY stop comparing the NBA to a regular job. Stating people go to a job they hate to make ends meet is irrelevant to this scenario. A better comparison would be people going to a job they hate that they don't have to do because they are already set. That doesn't happen as often, and when it does, it's to get even better financially (which is likely what happens with a lot of these stars). Dennis Rodman said it best. They would play the game for free, but it's the other BS that is why they are paid. Most of us couldn't handle the BS that goes with the league even if we had the focus to get the skill required to be there. I hear your complaint. I want players to play, but the job assessment is a terrible comparison.
Giant contracts for players that haven't done anything in their career or coming off a rookie contract is a mistake. I don't care how much revenue they supposedly generate. When a kid, A KID wins the mega millions through an NBA contract you can't possibly rationally expect them to give effort at anything. You literally just told them with a check that they don't have to. Why would they?
This guy could have been a serious deal healthy and focused on ball, i seen him as a modern day shaq when it comes to how strong he is and how damn dominant in the paint he is. Unfortunate
This video is why even as a basketball lover and former yearly purchaser of the NBA League Pass and Fantasy NBA participant, I totally ignore the NBA until the playoffs. The regular season may as well not even exist.
Hey Commish. Hope you’re doing well brotha. When you have time, can you make a video on the declining quality of the NBA’s jerseys with Nike? They just released this years City jerseys, my God they are terrible.
In other news the sky is blue and water is wet. Alot of dudes in the league now are the same way. They want to play and practice as little as possible while also getting paid the most in NBA history. It's sickening.
He aint staying in New Orleans. He never wanted to be there. The NBA in my opinion rigged the draft lottery back then so that he and Ja Morant get drafted there and Memphis. If i remember correctly those two franchises were at the very bottom in terms of value back then? And then the Lakers getting the 4th pick when they had a %1 chance at getting that far down to sweeten the pot for a AD trade to the Lakers. Cause nobody in their right mind would trade the 16th pick for AD, so LA getting the 4th overall pick along with the draft being rigged to help NO to replace AD with Zion helps both teams. Then i think the old Cavs GM became the vice president of the Pelicans like C'mon. That draft lottery was rigged to help 3 teams, by extension helping the NBA. AD with Bron and the Lakers. Ja in Memphis gave them hope and increased the teams value along with Zion in NO the hype alone increased their value. Killed 3 birds with 1 stone.
A saw a YTer who analyzes sports injuries and he said that Zion's knees have a difficulty carrying Zions weight and it shows in his walk and previous injuries. Maybe he's athelticism could only take his body so far. Lucky he got paid for nothing first
Youre dead right when you said Zion has no excuse to not be in shape. When I saw him say how hard it is to stay in shape on Gilbert Arena’s podcast I was like “ Zion WTF? “ millions of dollars and it’s hard for you to stay in shape? There’s people with LESS who are in way better shape. Zion imo just doesn’t want to play for the Pelicans, he wanted to New York and I still think he wants New York but for some reason he doesn’t tell that to David Griffin. David Griffin would probably try to keep Zion for dumb reasons.
There are so many things wrong with this league, it’s why I haven’t been watching the way I used to. I keep my ear out to hear if things are changing, but it only seems to keep getting worse. Jokic and Giannis winning with the teams they had were great stories, but the headlines always belong to Harden, Zion, and Simmons.

After she comes back , there’s 0% you love her the same way you did before. You probably will hate her. Her leaving made you sad made you depressed, damn even gave you suicidal thoughts. And you out here talking like he gotta be tha same person? HIS SOUL WAS TAKEN BY THE INJURY that’s how it feels, you can NOT be the same person anymore. In my 10 years of playing basketball and 6 years of competing in North Africa, i have yet to see someone having the same personality and approach to the game after getting injured, It’s a life changing and a character developer ( for the better or the worst) When you see basketball players getting back as they where you gotta appreciate that cause that’s literally a rare scenario.

I think the worst possible effect this type of behavior can have is that organizations will think way harder before giving players hefty contracts. Zion not giving a fuck about the sport, despite it working out fine for his bank account, could lead to harder-working players getting less money.

@@mentalprograming5365u do realize that lebron also leaves teams, trade players and get coaches fired hence why he gets more hate along with his flopping, lying and load management and losing him playing out his contracts esp when he mostly sign single season contracts is nothing impressive
Would be interesting to know what the odds of making it to the nba today vs the 90’s. Just seems like 90’s basketball was so intense with so many hall of famers
1:50 is killing me 😂😂😂😂
Honestly, load management is one of the biggest spits in the face to fans. Not only does it allow players to be lazy but in the case of LeBron James and I hate bringing this up randomly in this video but that's why his career has been able to extend so far. Because they let him take months at a time off and rest and rest and rest and rest. If he can't play and has no legitimate injury then he should retire
And the fact that he's still able to play at such a high level for as long as he has is pretty damn impressive.
Fun fact - MJ played all 82 games at 37 mins per game in the 2003 season at 39/40 years old. (and was natty)
1:08 I've been laughing at this for like 3 minutes 😭
You kinda make it sound like his conditioning issues would just fix themselves if he went to the Knicks. In New York. Where every block has a pizza place. Not sure we're thinking this through.
Send him to the Pacers. Ain't anything good to eat in fuckin Indiana
ZION JUST LOVES WHAT THE GAME OF BASKETBALL CAN PROVIDE FOR HIM BABIES MOMMA
& SIDE PIECES
1:50 you ain’t have to do him like that 💀💀💀
He loves cheeseburgers.
I could go for one right now. I can't do much more of McDonald's anymore. The quality has dipped.
2:26 he did go crazy that game ngl
He had 16 points. It shows right on the screen
sir dynamo dropped a video, it's a good saturday
Agreed on questioning these athletes desires and attitudes for the sport as their occupation. To add their line of work is different than others doing a 9 to 5 because not only is it sports entertainment, but they operate as contracted workers where the franchise owner signs them on a deal based on rules agreed with the NBA and NBPA which is the CBA. These players obviously got to work NBA due to their skills but how they apply their mindset decides how consistent they are bringing their best version of themselves their workplace. As for Zion, he's certainly consistent at delivering a different message than the ones he's obligated to tell basketball media.
Yo thus far I've watched all of your videos and this one right here is another entire video I'm 1,000% with u
Players getting bothered of non-nba players criticizing, is mostly just ego talking.
I just don’t understand the contract structuring to begin with. How did he even qualify for a 200 million bag? How did Desmond Bane get 207 million? Elite money used to mean elite player, now everyone can get it if you play for a sorry franchise like New Orleans. Ugh, this makes my head hurt
I miss 90s and early 00s NBA
New age athletes
Remember when Zion was the most hyped prospect since Lebron until Wemby became that too?
Ist really hard to be overweight as a pro athlete at 6'6 with this much muscle.
He really puts a lot he effort into ....stuffing food into his mouth.
🤣
Atp put me in for Zion and give me all the money he has so I can try a lot more harder on the court. The fact that he is trade bait after signing a max deal is just tempting to me
Great content bro!
Appreciate it thanks a lot for watching
pullout clause 😭😭😭
We should start a betting pool. How many games be4 he gets injured?
It's all good Commish, we got Wemby now. Leagues in great hands. LeHGH and Zion can leave.
You had to bring LeBron into this, right? You people are truly wastes of space

@@melh937don’t be mad, he’s part of the problem. MJ and Kobe kept the game competitive. LeBron made it so that players were “too cool” to do the dunk contest, play defense during an all-star game and could throw out all traces of dignity to join up with multiple all-stars in their prime. It’s going to take a REAL leader to get this league back on track, and lord knows that ain’t Adam Silver. A star player is going to have to lead by example. Maybe that’s Jokic, Giannis and Wemby? One can hope.
He’s young but if he keeps throwing away seasons like this the window will unexpectedl.
As a ples fans it’s so damn frustrating with Zion he’s so damn talented but doesn’t care it hurts when you know he has the ability to be great but doesn’t take those steps
@@GeneralUile thank you so much for letting me know! I think that’s one of the most important advances in elite sports, and in culture in general, that people can say what they’re struggling with, and receive compassion as opposed to derision.
I’m extra glad that male athletes are doing this too because a lot of guys look up to them and might be inspired to ask for help if they’ve seen one of those heroes say therapy helped them.
Thank you for replying!
This current crop of Black American Athletes is something special. Such wasting of Talent, Youth, Potential. and Time, is something that needs to be discuss from Parenting to the Youth Leagues, and ultimately the future because they're about a hop, skip, and a Jump away from being replaced by literally the world Athletes because of their unprofessional behavior. At a time where the most Money is about to flood sports with Suadi making Sport leagues.
His breathing is like a defensive lineman who just had a pick six.
Speaking of effort they do have a participation policy
Well said and I 100% agree with you
Can you imagine a guy on a rookie deal being so entitled he thinks he can just not try and force his way to another team? That’s crazy!
Good chance Wemby can play more games in 2 seasons than Zion has played in 4 seasons lol
Zion should start using his head to think and not the other head for the BBLs
Giant contracts for players that haven't done anything in their career or coming off a rookie contract is a mistake. I don't care how much revenue they supposedly generate.
When a kid, A KID wins the mega millions through an NBA contract you can't possibly rationally expect them to give effort at anything. You literally just told them with a check that they don't have to.
Why would they?
The weight clause reminds me of Kyler’s Call of Duty clause
This guy could have been a serious deal healthy and focused on ball, i seen him as a modern day shaq when it comes to how strong he is and how damn dominant in the paint he is. Unfortunate
This video is why even as a basketball lover and former yearly purchaser of the NBA League Pass and Fantasy NBA participant, I totally ignore the NBA until the playoffs. The regular season may as well not even exist.
He doesn't have to like his job to be good at it
Hey Commish. Hope you’re doing well brotha. When you have time, can you make a video on the declining quality of the NBA’s jerseys with Nike? They just released this years City jerseys, my God they are terrible.
This is pure gold! 😂😂😂
Only thing Zion loves is only fan models and food 😂
i think the league should cut theirs salaries by the same percentage they miss games without an injury
It doesnt matter if he loves his JOB, he gets paid like a mofo so he needs to put in the effort... Remember, if it tastes good, SPIT IT OUT!!!
In other news the sky is blue and water is wet. Alot of dudes in the league now are the same way. They want to play and practice as little as possible while also getting paid the most in NBA history. It's sickening.
We believe you, you’re hungry Zion.
No lies was told
but imagine looking like this without lifting weight this man never did sum conditioning
Why you doing videos about old news, season starts Tuesday and Zion is looking great
I think it’s his feet. They so small for his height and frame. I think it is going to be the source of all his lower body injuries.
Notice how he walks, his body is misalligned.
"50% of NBA players don't like playing basketball." - Patrick Beverley
Zion is balling right now though.
Zion is becoming the Johnny Manziel of the NBA
A saw a YTer who analyzes sports injuries and he said that Zion's knees have a difficulty carrying Zions weight and it shows in his walk and previous injuries. Maybe he's athelticism could only take his body so far. Lucky he got paid for nothing first
His body is misalligned.
Andrew Bynum energy from this guy his whole career for me.
Did you still plan on doing a video on Kyrie Irving shoe deal?
There are so many things wrong with this league, it’s why I haven’t been watching the way I used to. I keep my ear out to hear if things are changing, but it only seems to keep getting worse. Jokic and Giannis winning with the teams they had were great stories, but the headlines always belong to Harden, Zion, and Simmons.
Or players getting arrested for d.v cases ...this is why i said in 15 yrs 50% of the league will be african & european
Ok bro you probably never played basketball in your life , at least not competed , i love your content but i gotta talk about how much sometimes you sound ignorant.
An injury is the most tragic things tha can happen to tou as a basketball player who his LIFE IS BASKETBALL and it’s not just physically but the hardest part is mentally, getting injured takes EVRYTHING from you the love the passion the drive it’s like you don’t know what to do with your life anymore, you can’t workout ( the only way to exercise tha passion) you can’t play ( the only way you can keep loving the game) it’s just a the worst thing tha can happen to you as an athlete.
Imagine you love a woman to death and you was always being the best man she can dream of, but suddenly you don’t see her for a year( no texting no nothing) .
In my 10 years of playing basketball and 6 years of competing in North Africa, i have yet to see someone having the same personality and approach to the game after getting injured, It’s a life changing and a character developer ( for the better or the worst)
When you see basketball players getting back as they where you gotta appreciate that cause that’s literally a rare scenario.
I hate when fans think basketball players are not human.
his soul has taken by fried chicken not injuries
@@clintstewart5545 i am talking by my humble and personal experience, Yes he would be better if he stayed on the diet but it’s is really hard to stay on a diet when u can’t workout. Special after being used to eat for example 4000 calories but now you gotta be eating only 1800 or 2000
He actually did look less athletic this pre-season, and yes he did do this to himself. wished he knuckled down after a max contract.
until he loses 25 to 30 pounds i cant take him serious anymore
0:25 Now I've got a gag reflex too. Of all women ...Moriah Mills???
Watching young nba players and prospects getting paid millions without any actual body of work worthy of such money is depressing! Its like stealing money from investors if u ask me✌️
I think the worst possible effect this type of behavior can have is that organizations will think way harder before giving players hefty contracts. Zion not giving a fuck about the sport, despite it working out fine for his bank account, could lead to harder-working players getting less money.
Majority of the players don’t love it. They just love that paycheck
Tim Grover said that half of these NBA players have less passion for their job than the guy making bagels across the street. You get the bag of a lifetime and after that it’s all mental, I get why half check out it’s human nature to be average. Being above average has its blessing and it’s curses, you get the bag but now all your co workers think your a bum. Karma evens itself out.
Maybe if leagues stop being anti fun, like hell, they can fine you for anything now, raising your hand a certain way can get you fined etc... probably why so many players looked like they where having fun playing street ball when NBA shutdown for a bit
soon some people bout to be saying " when motivated" along with the " when healthy" saying lmfao (please God no)
At this point Zion is gonna be out with back injuries with all the pipe he's been laying in his off time
I also saw the heavy breathing clip... IDK why you are the only one bringing that up... crazy his conditioning is still in question 😢
i’m a pelicans fan and the zion thing pisses me off so much
so much potential and way too much hype too. he has barely even played. top 5 bust all time.
I hope the Pelicans trade Zion by the trade deadline, if he doesn't perform this coming season. It's a make or break for Zion and the Pelicans.
totally agree
today's game is trash, this charmin era players only play for the bag, if they chip a finger nail or sneeze too hard they get injured, the league pampers them like they're babies
I still don't understand how is leoverrated james exempt from that new load management rule, was there a clause in there that said if you're a ped taker that's over 38 you are exempt
You ain't gotta do anything you don't want to do. They should trade Zion at this point
This is what happens when you make a sport thats 100% dependent on how tall you are, insteadcof effort and skill.
