Thanks guys, if you dig the song, tweet this video at Slipknot to see what they think! You can download it here: bit.ly/GHOSTEARTH and it will be on streaming services soon!
What keyboard are you rolling with there? I would like to experiment with it and see if it improves my workflow. I really liked how you used it to streamline your writing process.
@@charlesrocks The one I used in this video is total shit, I wouldn't recommend it at all. I recently upgraded to a Native Instruments Komplete A25 which is cool, but there are a lot of different kinds on the market that do USB MIDI and they'll all do basically the same thing with different features.
Spot on. Obviously the vocals are impossible to get identical to Corey, but they still sounded good. The screams were actually pretty similar. Everything was pretty much identical tho
Coming from the mindset of someone who listens to Slipknot as a favorite band, this song can definitely be shaped into a Slipknot song with the right people, obviously. You made something that I don't think a lot could, even without the godly voice of Corey Taylor, and to imagine how Corey could make those words really sound out to the world is amazing to think about. The guitar parts themselves could also be improved upon, depending on the sort of album style that you could have gone with, or if it was an amalgamation of them altogether. Overall, there's real potential for this song. You should definitely see if Corey would be down to do an actual vocal cover of this thing. That would be wicked.
Yeah Mick is definitely the death metal guy in the band. I watched an interview where he was saying that he tells his students to check out this death metal band, not sure if he's still a guitar teacher since I am not from the states let alone Iowa
He had a guest spot on a Malevolent Creation album before. However, Joey and Paul both were in Anal Blast for a bit. Mick is the most outspoken on death metal these days.
Long time listener, first time caller. This was so much fun to watch! The song is fantastic, but the way you broke down and rebuilt the Slipknot recipe, absolutely brilliant. Bravo dude.
Okay, this song kicks fucking ass, not to mention those pickups sound fantastic as well. Killer as usual, Trey, can’t wait to see what you do next for these “Let’s Write A Song” videos
Than try to do better and upload on youtube. Generally people who say that know how to do better (sarcasm) cuz trying to emulate a band's style is really easy specially the singer's voice.
Sounds great! I agree with the other commenter that mentioned the chorus sounds a lot like Soilwork - it could be straight off of Natural Born Chaos. Don't sweat not being able to match Corey - you can change your guitar pickups, but you can't change your vocal chords!
Dude this was sic, I hope Corey or someone from the band sees this, because if I hadn't watched this video I would have thought this was a real slipknot song
I grew up listening to lots of Korn and Slipknot and your vocals have a very Jonathan Davis sound and paired with this amazing Slipknot track, it is one of the most badass songs i have heard in years!! Thanks you for doing what you do Trey. Keep it up!!

Thank you sincerely Trey, I was getting depressed today and I didn’t even want to play guitar or sing but this video inspired me to keep writing songs. I love your thought process in making songs.
I think it's even better that it doesn't sound 100% like Slipknot, I liked your vocals a lot in this piece, will definitely subscribe to your band's channels.
Dude! This is the third of yours I've seen, and yes I have now watched 3 in a row. I have already clicked subscribe. The way you articulate your points rings home with me. Trey, HOLY FUCKING SHIT, that was awesome!!! The sound was great, riff ideas were very catchy, and the final product was everything I expected. Enjoyed the "music video" to go with it as well, great quality and effects. Thanks for another awesome video
Holy shit bro, this screamed slipknot! Even more than that... that song fucking rocks! The lyrics are fucking deep shit. I want this song. I want more. Def checking out your band after hearing the creative talent you have (even if it’s to make a slipknot song, I wanna see what one of your songs sounds like if you can make an imitation so fantastic)!!!
The lyrics and singing are AHIG, the riff is really .5/wanyk, the drums are self titled, and the pacing/pattern is like vol.3 (The Nameless building on the chorus every time it comes until the last one is epic af)
I really appreciate the amount of respect you put on their song writing and how dynamic they really are. I hate how people make fun of slipknot just for a meme or their costumes carry their music. Sure some of it isn’t as good now but they’re still as much the same as they can be 20 years laters

Amazing job. Brutal and entertaining as well. So Slipknot! Really great. I really like your composition video! Am going to download the song and listen to it in a loop. And +10kudos for the real keg!
Awesome work bro. Really nailing the composition of a Slipknot tune. The only element that sounded off to me was the chorus "this is the end of the line" cadence, sounded more emo to me. Still fucking sick dude
That was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. Great job. Sounded enough like Slipknot to pickup on the influence but definitely had your own flavor added to it. Maybe a bit more "minor-ish" work in the lead but it still sounded great.
My songwriting course is finally HERE: bit.ly/SONGWRITINGCOURSE
I think the track sounds awesome, but i think since you can’t sound like Corey you accidentally made a DED song haha
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still fucken sick, just not Slipknot

Dude that’s dope!!! Your chorus is a little more Motionless In White to me but the tone is a great match for Slipknot. And that rooster!!! Brilliant
Interesting, I’ve barely listened to MiW at all, is there a certain song it reminds you of that I should hear?
@@treyxaviermusic Reincarnate would be a good song to check out!
Gear Gods they have a real common chorus phrasing. Check Dark Passenger on Reincarnate
Soft and Thoughts and Prayers are probably their most slipknot like songs

Emg: trey wanna demo are pickups?
Trey: sure I wrote an entire slip knot song.
Emg we just asked for a simple demo.
That’s basically how it went down hahaha
@@treyxaviermusic The best kind of over-doing!
The chorus vocals make it sound a bit like a seether or skillet type song, it's insane how much one instrument can change the feel of a part of a song
YEAH!!! I thought it sounded so cheesy. IF the lyrics were more obscure, darker, and sadder - it would be like slipknot
More like Three Days Grace lol
I can imagine Corey Taylor singing that song....100% sounds like Slipknot!
Sounded like a Slipknot song until the vocals were added. Now it sounds like if Trapt made a metalcore band. haha
acurate just wish it was really corey
You get massive bonus points if you send this to Corey's people and have him send it back with him on vocals

Dude! this legit sounds like a Slipknot song, hell i can even imagine them offering to officialize it.
Spot on. Obviously the vocals are impossible to get identical to Corey, but they still sounded good. The screams were actually pretty similar. Everything was pretty much identical tho

Without vocals I think we could add it to slipknot albums torrents and many people would believe it as an unreleased demo. Nice work.
If only it was still the days of Limewire, just label it as Slipknot and let the P2P madness do the rest haha
Absolutely love this series. Legit sounds like it should be a Slipknot song
