AWESOME SHOW! Drunken writer scours Africa & Europe for best babes. Leaves a trail of destruction and broken hearts. (Kinda like Liz Taylor). A menagerie of wildlife and that does not include the African fauna. The color print is to die for. Plus ... shock ending. 🌠🌠🌠🌠 4 shooting stars E-Z, Thanks CCC!!!!

A classic with one of the best, Peck, and Ava as good as always. I watched as a child because of the animal scenes- only Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins and the long suffering Jim had such films. Of all the fine actresses at the time, they cast Hayword, with her ugly nose and hammy overacting, which I skipped. She was totally outclassed by Ava and Hildegarde Neff, and the important ending could have been up to par with the rest of the actors' performances with a real actress. Hayward fans, sorry, but she was not taken seriously, any more than our beloved John Wayne was. Great post-TY!
I love the Hollywood Classics. Classier times & classier Actors….. I actually named my Son after Gregory Peck. 😊 (His friends thought it very peculiar that we named our Son, “Peck.” 🤔😳) Just kidding about the bit in brackets! 😂 Naturally, we named him “Gregory” - & it really was after Gregory Peck & he’s turned out to be just as handsome as the actor, too!
I think Hemingway was just too attached to the original story. While this isn’t a strict telling of his short story, it _feels_ like a Hemingway story, and has all the elements of one; a good one a that, in my opinion
The bottom of a whiskey bottle, the Vultures, the Witch Doctor, and the Hyena...were all harbingers of 💀Death itself...each time, his wife's fierce Love drove it💀(them) away... All his other women were emotional weaklings ...and unsuitable for him.... ("era baggage"...I believe his wise old uncle called them)

Yes, I see what he meant - also, the hero comes across as almost a parody of Hemingway himself mixed with some elements of his (not yet written) half-malicious portrait of F Scott Fitzgerald in "A Movable Feast".
great movie. Gregory Peck is my favourite.

Gregory Peck’s voice. That’s all you need.

Really good movie, man never forgets their first love but woman loves husband unconditionally, if this goes on no break up
I think this is the one where she sacrifices herself by jumping in the volcano to appease the gods....I was just a kid! Freaked me right out!

My mother said her brother looked like Gregory Peck when he was young. They were sami and Finnish mix. Later I read he got married to a Finnish woman.
Muito boa distração 😂
"The MacComber Affair" would be very good to see also if you can get a license for it, and " Something of Value also".

Interestingly, Ernest Hemingway disliked this movie because he felt it cannibalized material from his other work to pad the story
Yes, I see what he meant - also, the hero comes across as almost a parody of Hemingway himself mixed with some elements of his (not yet written) half-malicious portrait of F Scott Fitzgerald in "A Movable Feast".
