not quite, but it's definitely on to something. I had one of those Fender Excelsiors that had a 15 inch speaker-it was a really cool sound and I'd love to hear someone do a 2x15 slant. It's time to find some new ways to get these big sounds without having to lug around a 100+ lb. cabinet, if we can get to a point where a cab is like 40-55lbs with speakers, we'll start seeing cabs come back in full-force in live shows. Zilla seems like they're the only ones really experimenting with this stuff so hopefully they champion these kinds of solutions.
I love the sound of the 15 inch speaker man, in the 70s I had a twin reverb disconnected the 212 made me a custom cabinet with two fifteens in it to this day I never heard any amp sound quite as sweet as that, I miss it it was the bomb
Thanks for the demo. I have an Orange Rocker 32 that's true stereo. Thinking of running the right side through the 2 2x10's and the left side through a 1x15 extension cabinet. I was looking at this speaker. It sounds glorious!
Thanks for a very cool, rare review of a guitar played through a Celestion 15" Fullback. And, THANK YOU for not chugging (until the end) to demo "tone"!!! The jazz and blues riffs, clean and with distortion/drive were exactly what I was looking for in a review of this specific speaker. I am wondering about combining a Mesa Boogie 1x15 cab with a 1x12 cab, through a Mark V 90 head, instead of the typical 2x12 setup or even the 4x10 Lonestar cab. This video sold me on the Celestion 15" fullback! Great TONE!
Thanks for that, that is very kind of you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We get complaints about not chugging enough sometimes but its about showing as much of what the speaker can do rather than just full on all the time. Thanks again for watching.
Would love to see this thrown in with 12" speakers in your speaker tests, as many of us are not tied to 12's when choosing new cabs (or may want to bust out the jigsaw if there is space)!
Absolutely stellar playing, just wow! I think that combination of gear is great for a real classic tone and boy does it ever sound like a vocal at times, im exited to hear mine, I just gotta build the cab for it
Thanks for that, I'm glad you like it. We are actually running a competition at the moment to win a fullback loaded cab, it is our most recent video, if you are interested.
This cabinet with a 15-inch speaker sounds thick and open at the same time, with nice low mids, not boxy but full sounding. I think I am gonna treat myself this Easter. Btw. Joe needs to record a solo album...
Wow what a fantastic sound. Now I'm dying to hear a 2x15 from you guys, and maybe a 4x15" >:D. I certainly think any of those would work oh so well for Doom/Drone, as well as everything else by the sounds of it.
I just mounted 2 into My Community Monitors and I run them in stereo. They sound amazing and I can keep them off the crowd cause the cabs are tilted. I was using 2 Marshall 1960 cabs. And I have to say these to me sound even better and full😎
I've had a Fullback for awhile and it's been an on-again-off-again thing. I originally wanted to get a stack type sound from the speaker, but IMHO there are too many lower mids for it to sound okay with a Marshall type amp, even when it's in a closed back. To me it's annoying and putting EQ's in the effects loop can fix it a bit, but never perfectly. To my ears through messing around I've found it sounds best with a Fender (I have a 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb), as openback, if you're into that with a Greenback in them with fuller mids. And it sounds better when it's played louder. However don't trust me on this, I may change my mind next week.
Sounds like you've done a lot of playing around with it. I have to admit I prefer it in an open back too. I don't think it has as much attack as a lot of 12" speakers.
I just built myself a 1x15 cab for the Fullback, I love the sound of it. It's like a bigger fuller(!) Greenback and it still has the bark to it, great stuff! I think I'm going to make another one for a big fat stereo setup. Update Jan '22: Another lockdown, another cabinet, I'm making one more Fullback cab for a fat stereo setup 🙂
Prezactly. they sound like a pair of green backs.. if not more than 3 ;-) perfect way to get the better part of a 4/12 sound out of a combo amp with one speaker.....Scott Harmonic
The speaker lends a really warm, smooth low end to the tones, something sorely missing from a lot of cabs. Dammit, now I'm going to have to save up for one aren't I :D
Summed it up perfectly. Thanks. Still looking for the right speaker to mixmatch in a 2x15 with one of these perhaps? Hate to spend big bucks on vintage JBLs and have an issue..
I have a 15 inch speaker from scrap old pa speakers and I'm planning to build a cab and use it as guitar speaker but have a doubt on its sound quality on guitars thats why I ended up on this video haha, I think, proper designing I can make it sound great.
@@ZillaCabs yeah absolutely, actually I already did make 4x8 guitar cab from scrap old karaoke speakers and they are a woofer speakers but with a combination of cab and amp tweking it ended up sounds good for me. Demo is on my channel, you can check it out and I will appreciate you honest feedback, thanks.
Your playing is fantastic. I was thoroughly entertained The speaker? I kept wanting to turn the high mids up. The speaker is good, but not great. Yet you made it sound excellent! Nicely done.
Hi Christian, we don't make a standard 1x15, they are all custom design or a standard cab with a custom baffle. Just give us a shout with any ideas you have and I am sure we could work something out.
I remember an interview with Marilyn Manson where he told about some model he was seeing. He waited until she was asleep in their bed, and then he snuck off to the bathroom with a naughty magazine where she was featured, and did his dirty business there. I can now relate - I have a Celestion Fullback in my living room but I still snuck off to the computer to watch this video.
@@ZillaCabs mine is roughly the size of a Sunn 200s, but it's a standard rear loaded, closed back cab. I really like it, being quite tall I like the fact that the cab is tall too and I can hear it well. Also, the Fullback is a cool speaker, it can deliver massive lows if you want it to, but the low end is still quite manageable and not overpowering
Speaker sounds good. Just want to comment that this guitarist is a beast of a player!

awesome
what do you think would a MOD 15 200 be awesome like this for Xtreme metaLz?
It sounds huge. Like a 4x12 with Greenbacks. And..., yeah the player is a proper guitar hero…💪
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you like it and yeah Joe is a great player.
Love the breakup on this speaker, it sounds quite musical

That sounds great!! Greenbackish with a more smoothed out spike in the upper midrange, and fuller too.
Thanks for taking time to listen, glad you like it Christian.
Wow. When Joe first kicked on the overdrive it was so sweet - so fat and smooth yet clear, great tones!

Good question, they are fresh out of the box. A speaker like this will take a very long time to break in to any noticeable level.

8:55 the weak clips could not defeat the metaL 😃
15's are gorgeous sounding speakers, most of them, when you are playing alone, but in a band they are simply not doing good job for a guitar.
