    I'm a all Blackmagic user, got 2 pocket cams and the pocket OG. Ended up buying the S5 a few months ago mostly for gimbal work. I WAS BLOWN AWAY.
    I had worked with the GH5 back in the day and it was a charm. The S5 is the buffer bigger brother to the GH5. The colors are so great to work with (Almost as much as Braw) and the whole body is great for both photo and video. It became a great B-Cam and a nice third camera for podcasts and stuff!
    Loved the video man! Keep up the good work! Found you through the Arri Alexa videos and got hooked since then.

    An alternative option to consider is the S5's big brother, the S1. There was a firmware update for it that added a ton of video features, on par with the S5, and the S1 has a couple of differences/benefits- larger grip, full-size HDMI, tougher build, tilty screen instead of flippy, screen and EVF are much better, etc. Not gonna be better for everyone than the S5, but I do think it's worth considering. You do want to find one that already has the V-Log upgrade applied, though, as it's still $200 to buy that upgrade separately. Pretty easy to find under $1k with V-Log, though.

      I was gonna write the same thing. For me, the MAIN reason to go with the S1 is for the unlimited recording in 4K 10-bit, while the S5 (original) has a 30-minute time limit on 4K 10-bit recording. Also, the S1 can shoot 6K (for 15 minutes) while the original S5 has only 5K (again, for 15-minutes) and is limited to 30fps (the S1 can shoot 6K at 24fps or 30fps).

      Another solid choice is the a6400 or the a6500 ( or even a used a7r2 )
      Hold up , let me explain
      Some hybrid users just dont have enough time to manually focus , esp not on a dark venue
      Most of my work is done wide open at f1.4 or f2 around 400-800 iso with normal color profile , slog pushes it 2 stops higher , and thats with the 180° rule.
      ( For context )
      The last standup venue i was at , i was shooting f1.4 at 1600 iso on an a73 at 4k24 on cine2, it was so close to being too grainy/noisy , so i will have to say my explanation might be a bit overkill/nitpicky for someone who is okay with a little noise ( i am nitpicky that way )
      Ive used the gh5s and anything above 1600 isnt unusable but it behaves more like an iso 4000/3200 footage out of my a6400 , so youd need an f1.0 lens to match its capability in less than perfect venues.
      Photo wise it doesnt matter much , cdaf dfd is sometimes even faster than hybrid pdaf based system.

    I own the OG S5 for a couple of years now and paired with a Ninja V it becomes an absolute video beast!
    Recently I replaced it with the S5IIX to get better autofocus and more resolution and codec options, but I still use the S5 as a B-Cam.
    But I also always recommend Lumix if anybody looks for a budget friendly Hybrid-Camera.

    I’ve been using the S5 for a few years and I love it. The learning curve is minimal if you’re coming from the GH series and the auto focus isn’t that bad, particularly for photos. I don’t really use it in videos though

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can't speak to the other options, but the S5 works very well for events and weddings as long as you shoot within certain parameters. It doesn't work well for situations requiring tracking AF, like tracking the bride down the aisle, but it will lock on for single images/takes quite reliably. Video and image quality are stunning at all ISOs. Use native lenses if you want decent autofocus, because the EF adapters are not up to that level. A secondhand S5 with secondhand Sigma 24-70 or 28-70, plus a 50/1.8 and 85/1.8 is a relatively affordable and reliable package for a wedding shooter.

    The Lumix S5 was on my list when looking to upgrade my Fujifilm X-H1, however I really can't live without phase detection autofocus. For critical video work I'm generally using a recorder anyway, so it having internal 10bit video was nice, but not exactly a novelty feature for me.
    That's why I ended up going for a Nikon Z6 instead. Better autofocus all around (especially with the latest firmware), can also do as a sports / action camera if I want it to, and the camera itself was under 700€. I don't use it, but I was lucky to get one that has teh 12bit RAW upgrade for external recording, so I have this on hand if the 10bit N-Log get limiting (which I'm pretty sure it will not).
    It was also nice to have teh FTZ adapter as I could get a ton of Nikon F mount glass for really cheap, most of those lensesa re absolutely fine on the Z6, especially the latest AF-P models.

    Hello, Can you help?
    I have bought my first camera as R50 With 18-45mm kit lens + 50mm f1.8 lens. I didn’t like kit lens much as my iphone 13 pro pictures were better. And I really liked 50mm lens for great portrait. But when i went to London last week I could capture most of the places properly as i was not able to fit both subject and background like London eye or big ben in one frame. I had to move bit far to capture both. Now i have ordered 16mm 2.8 and 28mm 2.8 and I’m travelling to barcelona and rome next week. Can you suggest me which lens carry to capture the iconic places with me and family ? Thanks in advance.

    • @FoxTailWhipz
      @FoxTailWhipz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    to C100 (available on used market) it could can compete. He had to recognize that C100 is another class camera. So, S5? No thanks. Pretty much the same color science, no nd, ergonomics, no sound, etc. limitations. I never cared for 4k or slow motion frame rates. But, I agree that the stabilization is one key feature, that in real world of the short films making, beats the C100.

    I don't know if you've noticed, but it's just so much easier now for video editors to create the footage they need in an instant with AI without any camera.
    I predict the prices of cameras taking a plummeting nose dive as they become... obsolete and superfluous to content creation. In 18 years on YT I've never needed one.
