Thanks for doing this. I've had my machine three years. I have found that a daily water-only brew group cleaning cycle either before or after use is the way to keep it operating smoothly. Had a lot of problems with it the first year. Learned how to disassemble it, clean individual parts, etc. Then it dawned on me that at worse a daily brew group cleaning cycle would cost me a pump replacement down the line some day but it has been worth it. Thanks for taking the time on this.
I bought this machine about one month ago and really like it. I replaced an 11 year-old Saeco with this machine. I have read reviews of many fully automatic and semi-automatic espresso machines, and nearly every machine has comments about the water not being hot enough. I haven't found that to be the case with the Saeco Xelsis, but then I use double-walled cups and heat my cup with hot tap water before using as my cups are always cold in the morning from the cold house. It's plenty hot but doesn't burn my mouth. It's very easy to use and customize your drinks, fits under standard over the counter cupboards, and offers an easy steam method to cleanse the milk dispenser after each use. On the down side, the water dispenser is smaller than those of some machines ( my refrigerator filtered water dispenser is two steps from my machine so not an issue to fill up) and the drip tray doesn't hold a lot if you use the Hygiesteam frequently. My husband and I consume about 4-5 drinks per day and I find that milk drinks produce a lot of water in the drip tray so I may need to empty it everyday if not twice per day. I think the directions say to empty each day so I knew that before purchasing. Would I buy it again? Absolutely! And, no, I'm not paid to write this - just an ordinary consumer who did a lot of research on all makes of machines prior to purchase. I must say that with our old Saeco, if we had an issue we always received great customer service, even if the person on the other end of the line spoke Italian and broken English.
It doesn't have a cup heater on top? I wonder about 2 things b/c I am deciding between the SM8889 and the Gaggia Accademia. The accademia has a cup heater and does a double grind feature called "coffee boost" I don't mean it grinds double the bean quantity, I mean it grinds 1 shot, brews it then grinds again and brews it so you aren't just passing more water through the initial grinds. That's what has me tipping toward's the gaggia but I like the design of this unit better as far as the full sized touch screen and the container for the milk being off the service shelf so it doesn't get in the way of double cup brews
This helps a ton! Was trying to learn how to get the pre-ground part working for the longest time, and your suggestion to ONLY add in a scoop, actually helps a ton.
I own this machine and love it, I've had it about 2 yrs (just under). My milk has stopped frothing. Every drink I do now with milk, (regardless of temp or froth setting) is literally coming out like a flat white. I keep the machine impeccably clean. I seriously cant understand what the issue would be. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alan
I would love to see a comparison between this Xelsis and the Philips Lattego! They seem really similar, so I would love to know if the only difference is the price range or is there any other worthwhile quality difference. Hope you could share that video! Thank you so much!
Xelsis is a high end machine. Personnalise every drink. Have recipes done for you, touch screen and much quieter. The brew group is the same but the xelsis gives you the chance to Taylor your coffee almost the same as a manual machine. I own it and it’s a breeze to work with.
Excellent! I have my xelsis 8889/00 for over a year but lately I have noticed that during making icedcoffee there the coffee machine doesn't release the coffee but I can notice its' presence in the dipping tray. Have anybody experienced issue like this ??
Can you recommend a few of the grinder cleaning tablets/powder please? Al’s, can you recommend the milk powder/tablet types I can use please for the milk cleaning??? Also, if you make 4 coffees per day with milk, how often should I do the milk cleaning please?????
I've read that you can adjust the brewing pressure. With this being a 15 bar machine, I would like to dial back the pressure to 9 bars. Is this possible? I was hoping this video showed that.
Can someone help me please? I just got my xelsis sm7685 and after brewing 2 espresso machiatto, the drip tray has alot of water and some coffee grounds, and so is the small white tray in the service compartment. Is it normal to dump the water from the drip tray daily?also which grind setting gives the best flavour to the coffee beans?i use medium roast.
Keep a dump cup under Head...Auto clean Flushes System...with a dump cup you just pour it in the sink and make your Coffee and Replace..Tray has a float warning but seems to fill pretty fast...its just easier with a Dump cup...
The Jura S8 is in another league. Xelsis would be in between the S8 and the new E8. The S8 has a better espresso shot with better crema because of the amount of grams per shot. The milk foam is more lighter on Jura but more like a whip cream. On the xelsis the milf foam is heavier and denser more Like a real Italian cappuccino. The xelsis makes less crema on their espresso shot but have a more syrupee result. I find the espresso shot more real on the xelsis then the S8.
"Strength" is the coffee dose. 7.5, 9, or 10 grams. The menus offer 1-5 "beans" but 2-3 and 4-5 grind the same amounts anyway... "Taste" would be brew pressure or flow on older machines with manual "SBS" valve knobs. "Taste" on this machine may adjust the water flow via the pump rate, or it might just be another placebo... Try the high and low taste settings changing nothing else. On full body it would presumably take longer to dispense the same amount of liquid, and on the lowest setting it should gush out faster. You would use full-body "taste" for espresso or ristretto, and the lower settings for lungos or coffee.
I have owned the Xelsis for over two years Now and Only Complaint which is a Common problem with this machine is the Capatore plastic Tube/metal tube connection joint, at this connection it can suck Air into the Milk tube causing a Major Spitting and No Foaming condition that means NO milk based Drinks can be made with this machine without using a EXTERNAL milk foamer/frother. This Very Unfortunate that Saeco didnt get this part of the machine Right!!
We love the usability & taste from this machine, HOWEVER, we can Not get the drinks warm enough. We max the temp on coffee, but there isn’t (or, we haven’t found), a temp setting for the milk. HUGE disappointment. Is there something we’re missing, or is there a default on how hot it can go? If so, we could never recommend this machine. Sad to have spent So much on such an machine. We don’t mind paying what it cost if all features were satisfactory. 😩
Did you find a way to increase drink temperature? I was debating between this and the Terra Kaffe but went with the latter. Unfortunately milk based drinks weren't hot enough and was going to return for this but sounds like we're having the same issue with different machines
@@mscaliforniagirl135 Someone told me if you get a smaller inner diameter milk tube, it will increase the milk temperature up to 20 degrees more because it'll pour slower, which will heat it more. I just got my machine today so I plan to try it eventually once I measure the current tube and find a different one that will work.
@@jerrickmorsey3848 thank you so much for the tip. Please let me know if you find a tube that will work for this. I'm very tempted to make a return for something else. Question: if I want a double shot of espresso should I press the 2X button or just increase the coffee from 40 to 70?
Use the 2x button. It will grind and do another shot after the first one instead of running water through again.
I wouldn't need a 2X shot if I woke up next to you in the morning! Great minds think alike though. Love my Xelsis!

First time I've heard of it thanks.
Can this machine produce 30 drinks within a 3-4 hours span?
Is it ok to rinse the brew head with water?
Perfectly fine!
Do you know why when I turn the machine on, it rinses in the brew group?
This is just a normal rinse as part of the startup process.

Easy
How is the espresso in this one? I like strong espresso and I am not happy with my current Krups.
I would highly recommend before you buy it that you visit a coffee store where they actually brew an espresso for you to see if you like it

Just wondering how hot the milk is...
Looks like right at the beginning when it started putting the milk in it’s sprayed in steamy water
That is common with every Fully/Super automatic.
As long as you correctly clean the Milk Circuit this should pose no issue.
