I understand, we would both sign the prenup, that's a given in any contract. I would only sign a prenuptial or postnuptial to clarify issues in case of my death. Perhaps, for guidelines for assets, I accumulate during the marriage. My honest assessment is when one spouse is an initiator and the other is a compliant spouse, it's doom. It creates manipulation and greed and that person does their best to remain single. Some people do not have integrity and hopefully, you see that before marriage.

Look, there's nothing wrong with a woman wanting her man to provide, no more than there's a problem with a man looking at a sexy lady. I think biologically that's the tradition for our species.
However, there is a difference between a gold digger and a housewife. A housewife expects her man to provide but in return she'll give love, warmth, affection and nurturing to both him and the children. A gold digger, on the other hand, won't provide nothin', no matter what she's getting.

A prenup is essential for any man that wants to get married. If the woman who loves you genuinely loves you, she’ll sign because she can’t imagine divorce as an actual possibility and she knows that it will give her man piece of mind. If she refuses to sign, you now know that divorce is on the table and so is the serious possibility of alimony and 18 years of child support. Don’t marry a woman who is considering leaving you even before you tie the knot.

It's the same way that a financial advisor would say that you should keep 6 months' worth of expenses in a savings account for a rainy day. Do you "plan" that a rainy day will occur? No. But it likely will at some point and if you don't protect yourself, you will be ruined.
There is no guarantee that a person can even make to themselves about what kind of person that they will be in the future. Disease happens, tragedy happens, and numerous other things change our lives in immeasurable and unforeseeable ways. You are not the same person you were 15 years ago, so why would you expect to be the same person 15 years hence? So, even if there was no such thing as temptation, a pre-nup would still be a necessity for any well-meaning couple. Never mind, of course, that more than half of marriages end in divorce, so the possibility of divorce is not so remote. Additionally, wealthy people are 30% less likely to get a divorce, so divorce protections like a pre-nup should be embraced by poor and middle-income couples as well as the wealthy.

I am not doubting the intention; I am looking at the statistics. People prepare for emergencies that never happen and whose likelihood of having happened is infinitesimal, but people should suspend all rational faculties when entering into an agreement that turns into a disaster more often than it succeeds? That's when faith turns into lunacy and I find it poor form to cling to some idealized notion of love to leave yourself financially unprotected.
