I've neevr seen King Kong before this game so this game has genuinely been my first experience with Kong. I don't really see the appeal of a normal gorilla but whatever lol
The "popping plants" leads me to believe a dev screwed up the Level of Detail (LOD) settings for them: you've got a set of distances that govern what to show depending on how far away the camera is, right down to "show nothing" for when you're really far away. It's like they somehow got the distances for the highest and lowest LODs the wrong way round or something, so the bushes get LESS complex as you get closer.
I 100% feel like this game's target audience is very kind and well-intentioned grandmas who try to surprise their little grandchild with a fun game but have absolutely 0 idea of games at all and doesn't know what counts as a "good game"
Im not sure why there are so many people shocked that Gamemill Entertainment put out a garbage game when 99.9% of their games are licensed garbage mobile games.
I was in a store long, long ago when Gamestop was still the place to go and an older woman asked me about a Mortal Combat game. “Is this a good one? It’s for my grandson.” I said “How old is your grandson?” Her “Eight years old” So I told her about fatalities and the rather tough learning curve on these games. Maybe not the best for an 8 year old kid. I suggested a Crash Bandicoot game instead. Lol.
As a solo game dev, I'm not sure if I should be dismayed that this got funding and the rights to a major IP, or if I should be hopeful because if this can see the light of day then maybe so can my game.
There was no corporate meetings, this game wasn’t made by the actual people behind the King Kong movie, it was made by a guy who wrote a public domain Kong book.
I love that they thought doing an impression of the Dark Souls intro voice-over would make their game good. And the furtive pygmy kong, so easily forgotten...
This is so weird to me. You feel so SMALL playing as any of the Kongs. Like, the trees are towering over you, the monsters are generally your size, eve the bushes are proportionally larger than you. Like, that's WEIRD to me. King Kong, and presumably his mom are supposed to be towering giants who live in a tiny world, they should be able to look over tree tops and cross rivers in a single step, the only thing bigger than them are the monsters that want to kill them. But, everything here makes it feel like you're a normal sized gorilla, even the distance off the camera makes you feel small. WHY IS KING KONG SMALL?!
So, here's the thing: the rights for the original King Kong novel were never renewed, so they are in the public domain. Anyone can make an adaptation of King Kong as long as they somewhat base it on the original novel. I believe the title "King Kong" itself is off limits because it belongs to the original movie, but those rights expire in 2029 too, so we're bound to see even more adaptations in the near future. In any case, the reason this game was made on the cheap seemingly out of nowhere is because it's very likely _not_ licensed.

One of the BIG differences in care in how the Peter Jackson's King Kong and this one was made is who the publisher decided to hand the project to. Ubisoft handed it to one of its OWN subdivisions, so a lot of money would be invested tso it would be made properly. This one was handed to some subcontractor in Chile so it could be made for as cheap as humanly possible. Not saying that developers in Chilr are any less competent, but I'm willing to bet they were paid like crap and not really given what they would need to succeed.

Money Laundering my man
Genuinely wtf was the bowl of food like even contextually speaking why would there be a bowl even big enough for kong to pick up
In all honesty, this game looks to have been rushed to cash in on the popularity of King Kong, and it’s paying for it, big time
…what popularity?😂
@@Butchbuchsnan heck if I know, why ask me 😂
@@Butchbuchsnankongs an icon. What you talking about?
@@ButchbuchsnanThe movies have been massively successful, and the new Apple TV show has been receiving extremely high praise across the board.
Peter Jackson’s king king is an absolute diamond of a game what an experience you have when playing, to see 20 years later this is the level of Og content we have actually hurts my heart. Ps keep up these amazing videos boiys you’re both hilarious !
Definitely buying this amazing game I've never seen anything like it
please dont lol
@MindPulp I can't make any promises I've already gone out of my way to buy a few awful games you've played as a sick punishment to myself haha

A “chicken dinosaur” so yeah.. A dinosaur
I recently discovered your channel and I can’t stop watching your videos! Your commentary is just so entertaining!
You didn't know Kong had parents 😑
Naughty dog can only dream of making a game of this quality
I genuinely don't understand how actual companies make games like this and think it's a good idea to release it.

Laziness, no passion, and no care.
This guy's jokes never dispointed us 😂😂😂
The future will be full of games like this and the gems will be always fewer
A new game being uploaded so soon? I must be dreaming
We literally recorded this yesterday and GRINDED to have it up today hahah
@@MindPulp true dedication love it lol
The best thing about this game is the twist. The twist that you aren't playing as Kong, but his mother 😂
King Kong for the PS2 was better than this. And when a PS2 game is better than a PS5 game, that's saying something.
🎶 Purple medicinal plant! Purple medicinal plant! 🎶
Isn't Kong supposed to be giant? It looks like your playing with a normal sized ape. Everything feels small.
A god-of-war style game starring King Kong would be absolutely fire
Thanks Mind Pulp! I was on the fence but definitely getting this now! It was this or Spider-Man 2
One of the BIG differences in care in how the Peter Jackson's King Kong and this one was made is who the publisher decided to hand the project to.
