I had taken down the tree and sorted everything to wrap and box up. I was called away to help take care of my grandmother and did not put the dogs out side. I came home to a complete disaster. They had completely chewed everything up, including the boxes they were to be stored in. Keep in mind the dogs had never bothered the tree before. There was glass and silver streaming everywhere. It took many days to clear the mess.
We had a 12ft very full Cyprus Christmas tree one year that we left up for a month because it was so pretty and when we went to take it down, it fell over and every single needle fell off onto our wall to wall carpet! We spent months having to pick out each needle by hand because the vacuum cleaner brush tangled them in deeper into the carpet!
Ohhh yeah, vacuums don'e help with the pine needle problem!

One time on Christmas eve while we were cooking the Turkey for dinner the next day we put it on the table in the garage and it collapsed to the floor all over. Had to quick go to the store for a fresh Turkey to cook.
Oh what a disaster Penny, what a disaster! Thank goodness for stores being in close proximity!
My cat tip the tree over one night and hook yarn and wrapped it all over her Christmas tree that was full of decorated

My Grandma’s Xmas tree had some old school lights that bubbled! For those that know those are some 1950’s Xmas lights. Any ways they shorted out when I was 15 and thanks to me being a stud and not feeling pain I grabbed the tree while it was on fire and threw it out the front door. Thank God it wasn’t all dried out otherwise it would have burned a lot quicker & probably taken the whole house down with it!

WOW THAT IS SUPER SIZE ME A WALL.I made a big mess making a cholate milk and the glass milk bottle fell and milk and glass were all over the floor. This was on Christmas Eve. BTW thanks for all the reverse footage. It was a blast.

It’s all about chasing that thrill
I remember when I was very young, about 3 or 4 years old. My mom and dad got the Christmas and dad made a stand for it. No water , just a woden X base stand. They put it up on the 18th of December. By the 24th all the needles were falling off. It looked like it had cought fire. . Had a new tree stand that held water the next year.
Worst disaster was following off a cinder block I was using to reach the lights we were putting on the outside edge of the. Front porch. Overbalanced backwards and broke my wrist. My sister was helping and ahe thought I hit my head and I finally got her attention so I could explain it was my arm not my head. It was so comical it was funny and my dad just stood and laughed. He said in the car on the way to the emergency room " You realize that cinder block was on its side not on its end, how did you fall off the big side?" And just continued to chuckle.
Oh Dads are ridiculous when it comes to things like this! Glad it. wasn't your head Andrea! That sounds like it was a close call.

loved the wall falling ours was when we were young we had a real tree dad put it in a bucket that was wrapped in xmas paper ..... he watered it everyday but didnt notice a hole in the bucket they had to get a new carpet after xmas

My family had the tradition of Christmas at the boyfriend/husbands family and boxing day at my parents
My disaster was being sick on that day - not before we left but after we arrived - I stuck it out only but missed dinner as I slept through it
I hate being sick on the road, not at my own place. Even a relatives, ugh. I once got sick after a 48 hour train ride on the 6 hour drive to my grand parents house...not fun!
Mom does all the holiday decorating and clean up. I don’t celebrate so no disasters.

A few years ago I made the Christmas meal myself and everything was going to schedule, until I went to remove the turkey from the oven with oven mitts that had a hole in them - I burnt my hand really bad and the turkey landed on the floor of the kitchen. We wound up ordering take-out and had a great time anyway !

That was awesome! I loved seeing the wall cone back up. My dad brought home a tree from our farm. I decorated it before my mom came home. She came in and hated it and had us take it down and go buy a tree. I loved my Charley Brown tree.

Never really had that type of mishap but I made minced meat for a pie and used all the suet and we had enough for 6 pies so instead of making 1 mincemeat pie I made 6

Last year I put up Christmas lights around my house and then we had a frost and then half the lights froze then it made the lights looked funny so when I had to throw the whole box of lights away and they were brand new. I hate it when that happens. I was so mad at the time.

that was a great fall! Love the rewind. I don't really have a fail story. But when I was married to my ex husband, we didn't have much. We found an artificial tree and ornaments in the apartment building storage room and were given permission to use it.. Only problem, no stand. We got the doughnut tire out of the car and wired that tree to it. Covered that stand with a red blanket and voila. Sometimes you do what you gotta do and the kids, then 2 and 3, didn't mind.
Kids never seem to mind on stuff like this, plus they get really cool stories to share when they're older..
One year when putting the box of decorations back in the loft, I was passing it up to my step dad who was in the loft, and a box of baubles escaped and fell down the stairs. Only one bauble survived. Guess what I had to buy next year?!

Mine was my wife had spent most of the afternoon putting our tree up lights ornaments and tinsel it was beautiful. We went to go pick our kids from their grandparents house when we got back my cats had knocked tree over there was water everywhere. We cleaned up and started over again. It took most of the night but we got back to what it looked like.

Oh my God that wall is massive. I almost can't put up a tree because of my cats. I've lost many decorations, and had many a toppled trees. But I love my cats. So Xmas is always up in the air if we are going to have a tree.

Our “mishap” involves having a real Christmas Tree. I knew we needed to to keep it watered but didn’t realize I needed a sheet or something under the the tree at the end of season and when we decided to remove the tree after Christmas it shed pine needles from one end of the house to another. I promise I think I broke my vacuum cleaner sucking those needles up that day and for weeks after Christmas was over. The next year I put a sheet around the bottom but also left the tree up until July that year.
Ah ha. You really don't know things until the first time. How many people make their turkey the first time who forgot to remove the giblets? Not that that happened to me.... Oh noo... (:

Good morning John, Cheri, Jeanne,Amy, Timbo and everyone else. I remember one Christmas I asked for farm toys, trucks, tractors, animals stuff like that. Well I got them and one was a big truck that had 2 horses and they fit inside the back of the truck. It was a cattle truck to haul animals in. Well my little brother at that time thought it was to ride on and he did . I told him not to but didn’t do any good. Well after awhile the wheels fell off and couldn’t fix them .
I remember when I was younger, the house across the street from us caught on fire due to the Christmas lights shorted out. They were too old to use.
Yeah, Christmas lights can become an issue. Stringing too many together, or using older bubbler lamps especially, those things get HOT
Jeez they would give a major Headache.
