This was a verry necessary decision.Yhe increase range should preferebly be 5000km from Indias area atleast.Accuracy also need to be improved as per Global leaders like Galileo which is probably the front runner in term of declared accuracy.

Perhaps you are not aware of the fact that navic only works around sarcc nation, now it is being extended well beyond these limits. This is like extending wings. There is bigg deal, because now India's interest is growing beyond its borders.

I have navic on my phone since 2020 but I am not getting its service. I think it is used for military purposes only.

Already US aur India ke beach NAVIC system ko GPS ke sath combine krne ka baat ho chuka h aur dono systems aapas me data sharing karenge.
Still, NAVIC ko global Jana aur self sufficient hona zaruri ha. Navic banane ka main reason hi yhi tha that USA ne kargil war ke dauran gps service Dene se mna krdiya tha. Navic's range is not 1500 km. It provides coverage of up to 1500 km beyond India's borders, which is being planned to be extended to 3000 km beyond India's borders.
