For everyone who isn’t familiar with the Krampus; the Krampus isn’t actually something associated with Santa but with the holy Nikolaus we celebrate in Germany on the 6 of December. Nikolaus is the day where kids have to polish their shoes and get sweets and nuts from the Nikolaus in it - if they don’t do it they get coal. So the Krampus is a phenomenon that is more celebrated in the way south of Germany - Bavaria. In my town in the east we don’t have a krampus but a Knecht Ruprecht who punishes the kids with rods. So the Krampus actually accompanies the Nikolaus and punishes all the naughty children - putting them into a basket and taking them with him or they get beaten with a rode . It’s very dark but German fairytales are usually very dark hahaha.
This is exactly the same in Hungary. The custom must be a Center European one. There Santa (Father Winter in Hungarian) is not connected to Christmas, but always comes on the night of the 5th to 6th of December, and brings sweets and small surprises to 'good' children when they sleep. Santa (sometimes with the Krampuses) scene was so much fun at school celebrations at the 6th of December. 😊

Czech republic too - only we don't call it Krampus but "čert" - companion of st. Nikolaus (we call him Mikuláš) who punishes naughty kids. In our country, Nikolaus have one more companion - an angel - who gives fruit and candies/sweets to children who have been behaving good since last st. Nikolaus day. Kids also have to sing for them.
The designs on the 50p coin are both real designs that you can find on the tails side of British 50p coins, only they have been magic-ified to make them more relevant to the box. The libraries side originally commemorated 150 years of public libraries, and the other side is the portrait of Britannia, the female warrior who personifies Britain. She usually holds a trident in one hand and an olive branch in the other, and has a shield and a lion at either side of her. The UK 50p piece is worth about 65 cents US. I'm a bit of a coin collecting geek! :)

Anti-Krampus potion. Very good idea. Actually in Croatia we celebrate the St. Nicholas day. Saint Nicholas comes overnight and leaves presents for the children in their boots. The evening before, the children clean their boots and put them on the window so that St. Nicholas can leave presents in them. But if the children were naughty, Krampus comes and leaves them a whip in their boots.
When you pop a popper there is usually a tab on each side within the ends that has the powder that creates the pop. You have to make sure you hold the tabs tightly with your fingers when you pull so it will actually pop.
Krampus merch and lore make me so happy. It feels very magical at least to me and he fits in perfectly with the Harry Potter world.
I love the Krampus myth and laughed so hard when I opened the potion! I get that it's not a common myth in the US, but it's much more well known in Europe. It was fun reading the comments and learning more about Krampus and the coin!

Loved the box. Snow globe ( that just cracked me up.) and ornament snd sock were my fav. Although I am like you and like the happy Christmas/ Holiday stuff more; I actually didn’t mind the dark parts because Hogwarts is a European school and some of the things practiced in both Europe and the magical world ARE dark. So it makes sense to me that the holiday stuff would include these things. What a neat way to see other countries traditions and beliefs. I am also very excited about their new sweets shop!
I accidentally came across this channel right after binge-watching all the Harry Potter movies FOR THE FIRST TIME last month! The words keep collecting box is similar to the word Voldemort, though instead of everyone becoming alert and nervous, everyone gets alert and excited.

I love the article about the Gavle Goat and the Hogsmead in the snow print. The Gavle Goat actually exists it and its smaller brother go up every year in December-New years and it is not suppose to burn down its illegal to burn it but every year people try and it has actually burned down more years then it has survived. There is actually a live stream where you can check up on the Goat and see if it is still there. The Goat also has its own twitter page.

Peter Potter Collector .The back of the coin is The roman godess Minerva, The greek equivalent is Athena. Her sacret animal is the owl and the cat is the animagus form of Proffesor McGonagal as she is Minerva which explains the hogwarts crest of the shield. In the Greek and Roman Mythology Athena/Minerva is always dressed with a shield, lance and a helmet. She is the patron protector of the city of Athens and she is the wisest of the greek/roman gods. Minerva McGonagal is the wisest of the orofessors and she as the deputy headmistress and later headmistress is the one responsible to protect the school
I've never exited a video so fast, as to go buy that House of Black box 😍 I don't collect a lot (a few Funkos, 3D puzzles, and the Bradford Exchange village aside), but Sirius is my favorite character in all of literature. I'm so excited 😱

I very strongly appreciate you stating what extras did not come in the box. I assumed everything we see come out of boxes are in those boxes, which also helps me decide where to spend my money. I only recently found out that influencers get extra stuff in their boxes and then we get less. That's shady IMO and should be stated very openly and plainly that we aren't getting what is shown if that's the case.
I will always state what are extra and what isn't. :) This is the first time that The Wizarding Trunk has sent additional items to be shown. The tea cup is so much fun!! :D

@@bethanyestrada5826 sounds like the items were made exclusively for the store, so not a box item. The key was in last year's box BUT it was blue and think chunkier. I assume it was redone because I know a lot of people complained about the color being flat, making it look like cheap plastic o-o kind of wish they kept the blue though..
Totally agree with you Peter! Everything is sooo well designed in this box. Quality was fantastic across the board. But the the Krampus items were a bummer and won’t be staying in my collection in spite of the fact that they’re so well executed. Theme is everything.
On the other hand, the snow globe and ornament are wonderful enough to be forever heirlooms in my holiday decor. All the knit items are fantastic and I’m already looking to get my hands on the alternative letters I didn’t receive. Another great holiday box.
Hi Peter, they have wizard'ed a traditional UK 50p, so you are correct, the front is a common 50p design but with a twist, it's pretty clever.

I definitely understand your opinion on the Krampus ironically enough those would be my two favorites because though it’s not part of my heritage the concept of Krampus and all of that is super important to me during the holiday season to the point where the 2015 film is a annual tradition in my house if they have those two items for sale I might have to get them for myself

Krampus originated in Austria and has been around for hundreds of years, he would go around with St. Nicolas and punish the children who had been bad. I feel like he is finally becoming more mainstream due to the movie that came out a few years ago. But he is very much a European folklore.
The Harry sweater is crochet. It has the sc stitch. It’s adorable.
Single crochet (sc) stitches don't look like that at all. The pattern shown on the shirt are made using only a knit stitch (unlike knit 1, purl 1 that creates the familiar braided look). I both knit and crochet.

Ooof! That would've been extremely creative but yes a little disturbing...it gets more morbid the more i think about it really. But the snow falling in that scene does put off snow globe vibes so I wouldn't say your totally crazy haha

The potion bottle is actually a thing from England the krampus is somebody that goes and visits bad little girls and boys during Christmas time so it is related to Christmas it's just focusing more on the fact that Hogwarts is in England
Hogwarts is in Scotland and Krampus is from Alpine folklore

I think the restricted Section refers to the Sorcerer's Stone. When Harry goes to the Restricted section during the Holidays to look for Nickolas Flammel.
I love the sweater ornament, but it is not knitted, it is crocheted, which makes me happy because I crochet! I'm going to try making one!

4:11 The mini sweater is actually crocheted! This means that someone handmade it 🥰 this is because crochet can't be machine made! (While knitting can be machine made)

that cracker was rather disappointing 😂 great display item though. amazing box, but i don’t care for the magazine cover either! not a christmas feel at all. though it’s evident how much work goes into designing the magazine, i love they go that extra mile! favorite item has to be the flitwick ornament, i think we all grew up adoring that scene.

I was disappointed that there was no key in this box. Which is usually in their quarterly box.. I did go to the shop and buy the carriage key but it makes me so upset that they duplicated a lot from last year: another Weasley sweater, another snow globe, another Yule ball pin(which I did like) but not the key. I had to purchase the key separately. Your Keep Collecting box will be my last from the wizarding trunk. Don’t let me down!

Potter COllector, On the Tail side of the 50 Pence, is the Restricted Sesion of the Hogwarts Library. On the Face of the Coin is the Greco-Roman Goddess Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom and her signiture Creature is the Owl. The Cat is of Minerva McGonagall.
I *liked* this box but I didn't *love* this box. I appreciate the effort as some of the items were sooo creative like the snow globe. However I was disappointed there wasn't a tshirt as I LOVE their shirts and the quality of the sweat shirt wasn't doing it for me. Side note I'd love a high quality wizarding trunk hoodie because I feel like they could design something really cool.

The front is a homage to the British 50p coin which had a picture of Britannia on it many years ago
Duck the reason that the coin looks like that is we have a 50pence coin to celebrate public librarys so they have merged the two tbings together (sorry to call you duck but thats what we say round here in staffordshire in the uk)

I know several people who would absolutely love the Krampus stuff (all Slytherins, coincidentally) but I'm with you on it. I really dislike the whole Krampus tradition in general.

the coin got a Greek/Roman mythology theme. Greek Goddess Athena/Minerva(she identified with Strategy of war and Wisdom) and she always got her owl by her side. i don’t about the cat and the trident identified with Poseidon/Neptune(god of water) and he would be her uncle because her dad is Zeus

The figure on the back of the 50p is the Hogwarts version of Britannia.
Ok, just so you guys know, the back of the coin that has the woman with the shield on it. Is based off a real UK coin. For the real coin the shield has the union jack and the woman is known as Britannia. I believe she is reaching out to a trident or eagle (depending on the coin) and she is the representative of the people and country. It's an old coin design and it appears on the one penny. Tho it probably appears on more than that. (Yes, the UK use to have the penny) and the US adopted the design and added it to some US coins. (Tho they call her lady liberty and changed the union jack to a shield that says liberty and changed the eagle or trident to a small flag) the design appeared on dimes, quarters, half dollars and full dollar coins. But I'm not sure if it appears on the nickel or us dime.
All this is to say, the lady on the coin probably represents the wizarding world.
