I highly relate to the mannequin story. As a little kid I would stand with the mannequins (that were realistic) and stay really still, then when people were looking I'd move and scare the hell outta them!
A couple friends of mine in high school used to do that deliberately. One had an encounter with a kid and his mother, and my friend would only move when the mother wasn't looking. Freaked. The. Kid. Out. "I told you she wouldn't believe you." Mom-eeeeeeeeee!!!!

As I watched this, during that story with the fishing, when the lady didn’t apologise or anything like that to OP, it reminded me of something. It’s never okay to not get an apology when someone else accuses you of something that you have no control over, but believe me, it’s even worse when the person yelling at you is your own boss. I used to work at a cafe, it was all right, coworkers was alright, customers wasn’t the worst, but my boss.. we never got along. At the end of my time there, I also had another job, where I worked a lot of late nights, and I didn’t have my phone on me. So one night my boss texted me asking if I could work the following week, and I kid you not, this woman only gave me one hour, yes one hour before she called me out saying I needed to answer her right away, and also telling me teenagers are lazy (I was 19 at the time) and should be grateful for what we can bring to the community. And I still didn’t see these texts for another two hours. When I did, and I got of work, I called her to try to understand how she thought I could be able to be on my phone 24/7, especially since she knew I was working. And this actually made me laugh, but after I asked her, she just hung up.. I tried texting her to call me back, or at least answer my question, but I never got an answer. So I just texted her letting her know that she could expect my resignation the day after. Needles to say, I do not miss that bitch of a boss! To long didn’t read. My boss called me, a teenager, out for not using my phone all the time because I was working at a second job, and called me lazy in the proses. I quit afterwards 🙂Best decision of my life

Here is a story for you, I used to work at a fast food place when I was a young adult. Anyways, so my older sister was in a very bad car accident. The car was a right off and she now has a deep rooted fear of semi trucks. She had to be air lifted to the hospital and I called in. My sister was dead for a minute before I arrived. She had shredded her stomach muscles and was internally bleeding. I quickly had to go hug and kiss her before she was rushed into surgery. The dr said it would be awhile so, we should go home. I went back home and was devastated by her condition. My mom called me late that night and told me she survived her surgery. I wanted to go see her since she was now in stable condition and awake. I called in to my work the next day and he said no!! "My wife assured me you would be in today so, no"." If you don't come you will be fired". So, I had to go in because I had no other job to pay rent. I went and his wife said to me, "stop being sad"." Your sister is fine and we were in a worse accident". They were fricken bumped by a car when they were a truck. Their kids just got a damn scratch. My sister was fucken dead for a bit! She could've died on that operating table for fuck sakes. This woman had the fucken nerve to say this shit to me the next day. She even showed me photos of their accident. They have since divorced because her husband was cheating. We all knew but she was in denial. I no longer work there but it pisses me off to this day.
I am a vendor, so I travel from store to store doing things like conducting audits. I have enough "I don't work here" stories to fill this channel for a long time... but I've never been confused with a mannequin. I'm still laughing!

My mother was a cop my entire childhood - the 70s, when women weren't cops. One day, a guy walked in and apparently got pissed when he saw no one at the main desk. So, he walked around looking for anybody he could find. Yes, he found my mother first. She told me he started screaming at her for no apparent reason, but, much to her delight, finally said the phrase she had been waiting for, for nearly three years. "Do what I tell you to do! I pay your salary!" She took the nickel out of her pocket, handed it to him and screamed back at him, "There's your money, now get the f$%^ out of here!" Well, my mother was apparently deeply respected by all the deputies, so when they heard her scream, 10 fully armed deputies came flying out of the woodwork, weapons drawn (again, "70s"), disabled him, took him down, and locked him up for 24hours for disturbing the peace. When she passed on the story in after-dinner conversation, I was proud as heck of my mom and now, terrified of her as well. ;-)
The mannequin-story kinda happened to me. Back when I was studying archeology, my peers and me visited the "Archäologische Landesmuseum in Halle" Germany(a museum), where the famous "Himmelsscheibe von Nebra" was displayed (way smaller then I expected). Well it was displayed in a small, very dark room, with special light pointed at it, so it doesn't get damaged by UV. It was propped up like some kind of holy grail since it is a very famous find of the European bronce age. Then I see something I assume was, a plate with text at the wall and come closer, only to realize that I was getting in the face of one of the museums security-persons. I jumped away in horror and the guy looked pretty confused. It was hilarious.
I had the “I thought you were a mannequin” thing happen to me years ago when I was a brand ambassador at Whole Foods. As I was standing still behind my table of ready-made food to give out samples to costumers to taste, a lady came up to my table. I turned my head towards her to greet her and she yelled in shook. Then she apologized, and said that she thought that I was a mannequin, lol

It’s never okay to not get an apology when someone else accuses you of something that you have no control over, but believe me, it’s even worse when the person yelling at you is your own boss. I used to work at a cafe, it was all right, coworkers was alright, customers wasn’t the worst, but my boss.. we never got along. At the end of my time there, I also had another job, where I worked a lot of late nights, and I didn’t have my phone on me. So one night my boss texted me asking if I could work the following week, and I kid you not, this woman only gave me one hour, yes one hour before she called me out saying I needed to answer her right away, and also telling me teenagers are lazy (I was 19 at the time) and should be grateful for what we can bring to the community. And I still didn’t see these texts for another two hours. When I did, and I got of work, I called her to try to understand how she thought I could be able to be on my phone 24/7, especially since she knew I was working. And this actually made me laugh, but after I asked her, she just hung up.. I tried texting her to call me back, or at least answer my question, but I never got an answer. So I just texted her letting her know that she could expect my resignation the day after. Needles to say, I do not miss that bitch of a boss!
To long didn’t read. My boss called me, a teenager, out for not using my phone all the time because I was working at a second job, and called me lazy in the proses. I quit afterwards 🙂Best decision of my life

Here is a story for you, I used to work at a fast food place when I was a young adult. Anyways, so my older sister was in a very bad car accident. The car was a right off and she now has a deep rooted fear of semi trucks. She had to be air lifted to the hospital and I called in. My sister was dead for a minute before I arrived. She had shredded her stomach muscles and was internally bleeding. I quickly had to go hug and kiss her before she was rushed into surgery. The dr said it would be awhile so, we should go home. I went back home and was devastated by her condition. My mom called me late that night and told me she survived her surgery. I wanted to go see her since she was now in stable condition and awake. I called in to my work the next day and he said no!! "My wife assured me you would be in today so, no"." If you don't come you will be fired". So, I had to go in because I had no other job to pay rent. I went and his wife said to me, "stop being sad"." Your sister is fine and we were in a worse accident". They were fricken bumped by a car when they were a truck. Their kids just got a damn scratch. My sister was fucken dead for a bit! She could've died on that operating table for fuck sakes. This woman had the fucken nerve to say this shit to me the next day. She even showed me photos of their accident. They have since divorced because her husband was cheating. We all knew but she was in denial. I no longer work there but it pisses me off to this day.

I was standing still waiting for dad, completely in my own world, when an older lady started to circle me and watching my clothes really close and I thought she was going to get a heartattack when I moved! We had a good laugh about it and she apologized for getting so up in my space haha.

My mother was a cop my entire childhood - the 70s, when women weren't cops. One day, a guy walked in and apparently got pissed when he saw no one at the main desk. So, he walked around looking for anybody he could find. Yes, he found my mother first. She told me he started screaming at her for no apparent reason, but, much to her delight, finally said the phrase she had been waiting for, for nearly three years. "Do what I tell you to do! I pay your salary!" She took the nickel out of her pocket, handed it to him and screamed back at him, "There's your money, now get the f$%^ out of here!" Well, my mother was apparently deeply respected by all the deputies, so when they heard her scream, 10 fully armed deputies came flying out of the woodwork, weapons drawn (again, "70s"), disabled him, took him down, and locked him up for 24hours for disturbing the peace. When she passed on the story in after-dinner conversation, I was proud as heck of my mom and now, terrified of her as well. ;-)

The mannequin-story kinda happened to me. Back when I was studying archeology, my peers and me visited the "Archäologische Landesmuseum in Halle" Germany(a museum), where the famous "Himmelsscheibe von Nebra" was displayed (way smaller then I expected). Well it was displayed in a small, very dark room, with special light pointed at it, so it doesn't get damaged by UV. It was propped up like some kind of holy grail since it is a very famous find of the European bronce age. Then I see something I assume was, a plate with text at the wall and come closer, only to realize that I was getting in the face of one of the museums security-persons. I jumped away in horror and the guy looked pretty confused. It was hilarious.
That mannequin one was kind of wholesome, and I will admit I’ve done that once.
For the story at the end they should've just said: "Oh, I still work for you? Okay, I quit."

As I was standing still behind my table of ready-made food to give out samples to costumers to taste, a lady came up to my table. I turned my head towards her to greet her and she yelled in shook. Then she apologized, and said that she thought that I was a mannequin, lol
