Just here because as an Australian I'm legally required to watch this video once I saw it suggested. Send help.
Bugger... me too. Sending VB's your way
Hey mate you're coming from the land the down under?
This hurts after learning Holden will be discontinued...
Same here lol
@@tedioussugar384 aye I know :(
As an Aussie, seeing these things lap the Sydney circuit at the Olympic park was absolutely breathtaking, the sheer power and sound of these overpowered, angry machines tear through the streets with shop fronts producing a deafening orchestra of v8 grunt just gave me the most pure feeling of excitement I've had in a long time. So sad to see an end of an era which set apart Australia in the motorsport world.
V8 Supercars are so underrated 😍
Living in nz, its all you hear about in motorsport
@@brandono6718 indeed. You almost never see any other form of racing. GT3/F1 or even Le Mans etc dont get shown ever
Yeah it's pretty sad, all those other racing series are also mostly during the night in New Zealand. There can be good racing in the V8s but I honestly do get sick of only seeing and hearing about it all the time. Pretty much whenever there's racing overseas going on I have to watch the replay because it runs during the night
@@brandono6718 i found NismoTV on youtube which streams a lot of GT3 and the Blancpan series, along with the Bathurst 12 hour etc. And saves them so you can watch them at your own lesuire thats how Ive been watching GT3. Havent really found anything for Le Mans though, and im not personally interested in F1
So underated in Australia
Until watching this video, it never occurred to me that Jimmer's shed is left-hand-drive
wow
😳
Jimmy is the exact opposite of a real Commodore driver. Everyday Commodore drivers think they can drive, but can't... Jimmy thinks he can't drive, but can.
Great video :)
Gareth Askham actually Supercars series has awesome racing ans Skill involved, and the commodores did and do Well in the competition
I think you missed the point of what I was saying. I mean real life Commodore drivers, not racers. Those that drive Commodores as a street car. They have a very typical stereotype of being aggressive and attempt to drive beyond their capabilities.
Gareth Askham you a Ford fan aye?
@@gmdaskham im only 17 and own a commodore and i know how to drive
@@thatsimracer666 Good for you, mate. Watch a few dash cam videos and see how many idiot Commodore drivers there are. Almost as bad as the Audi & BMW SUVs.
Whoever created this game got the engine noise absolutely spot on
Can you do a standard GT3 lap here so we have a good baseline for comparing all of these?
Hi Alex, Ive done this circuit in 6.47.00 flat out in a BMW M3 2016 GT3. It's a fantastic place to go flat out!!
GT3 would be about 6:45-6:50 ish
At Bathurst in irl at the 2nd last straight coming down from mt panorama these things reach 290-300kph
Best race track in the world or close to it
MusicMadMaurice specially when you get to drive on it loo
Ob7y the straight is called Conrod and it goes towards the chase. The other straight that heads up the mountain straight
Spa is better
@MusicManMaurice I'd say it's second only to the Nordschleife
Whilst F1, GT3, LMP cars lap faster - there is nothing more entertaining than V8 Supercar races. They sound fucking amazing in real life as well.
Always respect the V8 Supercars, even though the likes of F1 are universes ahead in every aspect
not sure about F1 being universes ahead, Interesting but normally quite boring. SuperCars present way closer racing. When you can have only 1sec per lap beween the field of 28. And I am not Austrailian
Fun Fact: Holden hold the record for the fastest Ute around the Nordschleife with a 8:19:47 in 2013
Bulky enough to protect yourself from Andy Perrs, nimble enough to run away from snakes and spiders
BMW M4 DTM car next bitte!

“Give it some Jandal and fuck yeah” - Scotty Mac
Have you done a modern DTM car yet? Interesting to see how much faster it is than this V8
Probably a lot faster since the DTM has massive aero and the V8 has pretty much nothing in terms of aero
so 30 seconds or more faster? It would be nice to see how much.
Dtm is boring. Less driver skill
mark beadon yeah the racing in V8 Supercars is so much better
mark beadon why should more downforce make a car easier to drive the grip level is just higher so they are driving much faster which takes more skill, sliding around is not fast, but i have to admit that it is very boring today
I'm 55 years old. Back in the early 2000s (in my mid-30s) I had 2 networked computers at home with those old school steering wheel and pedal set-ups. I worked in IT at the time so had access to decent gear at trade prices. A mate and I would spend hours racing each other at Bathurst on V8 Supercars: Race Driver. As a consequence, when I watch Bathurst each year I recall every straight and every corner. If I had Jimmy's gaming setup I probably wouldn't leave the house except for work and I'd be surviving on 2 or 3 hours sleep a night.
A man's car on a man's track, lovely
TheBlue028 damn straight
MANLY!
Have the PC brigade taken you away yet?
Woohoo representing the us Aussies, they are heavy and feel like they are floating but awesome to watch and fun to drive in sim.
I've heard the drivers describe these cars as "like trying to handle a wet dog on tiles"
Brendan Blackett as an Australian Supercars fan, this is false.
like a cow on ice?
Chris C if you’ve ever seen Bathurst you’d know that nothing which handles poorly can get around that circuit that quickly. Sure there no f1 cars but there good for fast competitive racing and they have serious mechanical grip.
Na, for sure, I hear you. Just playing :P I don't really know Supercars outside of trying them a few times in sims.
Watch some V8 Supercar race highlights - nothing more entertaining Motorsports wise.
I know this is old but quick tip driving these.
1: apply very small amount of brake (like 10%) before your braking line, the nose and weight will move to the front and it will stop nicer and faster (depends but sometimes just blending the throttle or lift will do)
2: this one is common sense but don’t apply more than 30% throttle till straight or apex

Fantastic drive Jimbo. Was great to see our big banger get thrown around the Nordschleife.
Yay!! Sadly We don't manufacture the glorious rear wheel drive Commodore anymore in Australia.
You spelt glorious AU falcon wrong
@@Agent_Clark Both of them are no longer made here anymore!
@@jumpdriveradiodj The AU Falcon is made of dreams and cold VB
What about the VL commodore that had an RB30 NISSAN motor give it a couple of years hopefully we will go back to V8s and rear wheel drive fingers crossed
I don't think it'll take long as Aussie demand will bring Holden back to making v8 coups because next year people are saying we are getting chevys
An Australian team ran an older V8 SuperCar at the Nurb 24h for quite a few years in the mid 2000s. Their lap times were in the region of 9:43 in qualifying, though that included the GP circuit as well. The cars back then were not too far removed in performance to what they are today, save for slightly better aero, tyres and brakes, as well as the introduction of sequential ‘boxes.

V8 supercars is my $avourite race series. Might not be the fastest but theres massive skill involved which makes each race interesting.
As an Australian I am legally obliged to watch this video
So proud as an Australian to have these cars, one of the best thinks we came up with in racing.
Thank you for showing the ability of the car that defines my country
So hyped for the Mustang entering V8 Supercars.
Dr. Bananable Lector Yessssss
Wouldn't fit in. V8 supercars are supposed to be 4 door V8 monsters. A closer to stock NASCAR in a sense. Mustang would look way out of place if you ask me.
Socky Noob
It's already happening next year, there are even talks of Camaro's entering at some point in the future as well.
Socky Noob hasn't been v8 supercars in years
Socky Noob NASCAR has both mustangs and camaros
A Ford endurance car (whether it be the modern GT or the old GT40) would be pretty cool. I think you should do a GT3 car as well, as it’s probably the only big modern Motorsport discipline you’re missing right now (I’m definitely forgetting something, pls no angery). Another cool thing would be a 50s or 60s F1 car. Anyways, keep up the great videos Jimmer!
4 years late to the video here. As an Australian, awesome to see this.
I wonder what a DTM car coud do around the ring, thinking sub 6 could be doable. You should try that next!
if its not modified for the ring, it couldnt do shit. opel won the 24hr race in 2003 with a modified Astra V8 DTM, and the times back then were way slower then todays gt3 cars
Aussie V8 Supercars are everything NASCAR should have evolved into, but my countrymen are...slow...touched...whichever pc term you wish to apply lmao
Back in the day in GT6 we used to do online race nights, the car rules; V8, four-door and aftermarket wing on race hards, at 550pp. Such good times as we essentially ran the closest thing to V8 supercars in the game outside of the one racecar.
Was very keen to see how this would stack up against the NASCAR ... great lap and video Jimmy !!
I love v8 supercars. Tricky buggers with all their torque , but Bathurst is some great racing. I'd love to go to Australia and bury some beers at the track in advance (it's a thing! XD )
Jamie Whincups driving is so smooth 2 week's ago at Barbagello. I have never seen such smoothness.
Oh my f****** god your cometary is so good i cant get enough
V8 Supercars is the best racing series in the world imo
I put the Commodore up against the Falcon in FH3. It was good fun. They are a bit tough to drive at times!
These cars are very fun to drive on this track
Always liked these cars, good job keeping it under control!
We need to see a Group B car around Nords ASAP!
Love ya Jimmer! xD
BTW, some #shamelessselfpromotion:
I did a Senna Tribute and a Toivonen/Delta S4 vid on my Channel, check it out :P
Nishant Dash my record in R3E is 6:37 in the Mercedes AMG GT3. But for the longest time my average has been around 6:44
Nishant! Hi!
Andrew Mayer hey!
I live in Australia and I am fascinated by V8 Supercars.
They recently made it a regulation that every team HAS to run the same suspension and less downforce, much more interesting to watch and the drivers have to drive the cars even more now makes the racing soooo much more exciting
Should do a lap in scottys mustang from this, that thing is a fuckig monster
Gets home from actual Supercars event and sees Jimmy has posted this. Psychic boi confirmed
Mad Max V8 Interceptor would be fun to watch.
Do modern F1 at Long Beach, bring back the US Grand Prix West!
Many foreign drivers who come to co-drive at the Bathurst 1000 each year comment on the lack of downforce. These cars are the definition of beast.
I am empressed. From a V8 supercar fan That was pretty cool. cheers.
I run the Forza 6 setup in my workshop and I don't think, if I could keep it on the track, that I'd get the Commodore around Nord in a time close to that. Though the Green Hell I drive includes the F1 section too. I use an R class DBR9 and my quickest time is an 8:23. something something something.
Be fucked if I could flap me gums like this bloke and keep the car on the track. Entertaining.
jimmys a holden fan yessssss
It's a shame Project Cars 2 only has the Ford Falcon.
In the states wa have NASCAR drivers going around in circles in VR. And it is being broadcast as entertainment!
Great drive Jimmy! Have confidence in yourself!
Gotta Try It In The Ford Falcon V8 Supercar... Last Of The Falcons :'(
Jeremy Angelo
Holden man myself, but I totally agree,
Was a sad day I heard that that ford will cease to build cars in aus, and now Holden 😭
As a ford man i feel sorry for you with the ZB
It's better to die a hero
Jimmy, you are amazing! How can you talking while going for the fastest laptime 😂
even in donington this thing is scary
like the scotty mclaughlin quote lmao but u gotta say "chuck it into first"
aswell
Another great video from Jimmy
If I recall correctly an older model V8 Supercar was taken to one of the Nurburgring 24 Hours, driven by Mal Rose amongst others...
Sick of seeing Nordschleife every bloody where. James May was right.
That's because most of the other great tracks have been butchered :p
It's overrated. Bathurst, baby!
BOMB IT!
then dont fucking watch it.
Nord is my Goto track for everything.
"This is just a series of near fatal accidents". Classic.
That sound is sooooooo spot on holy shit
You have to love V8 supercars
GET THE M3 GTR, with the nfs mw livery obvs
You need to try the new Shell V power Mustang, it's eating Commodores for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Yeah but ... It's just because of down force.. only way Ford can win... Use smaller var
@@shanerusbatch9197 Shayne, I think you're missing the point here, which is simply that Ford are going faster and collecting the cheque on race weekends. How, and why are not relevant because despite Supercars making them tweak things in an attempt to bring them back to the field, it's not happening. Brand preference is irrelevant in a sport where speed and reliability are the determining factors for success.
@@sandymacpherson9400 it's lost it's way... It's lost it's Appel... The Ford's are ugly, also cheating with a loop hole.. you can see just by looking at them that they are more streamlined... It's not rocket science.. and anyway.. Holden is ruined so how cares
Awsome vid as always, u rock. Ever though of having short track side vision to get the full noise of cars, but as said, ur vids r always great. 🖒
when you blipped the throttle on the downshifts, if only if you would use the clutch like the real life drivers do then that'll be cool
A lot of race car drivers won't use a clutch
Jimmy,
I have been watching your video's for years now. The content is still great and your getting to be an incredible driver. I wanna see some more real life driving video's though. Any updates on the ones you have done?
I wish Holden had 1 last crack at making a VF Monaro :( making it the last V8 aussie coupe
Sad that that was an idea 1 year ago 😔 rip Holden
Rest In Peace Holden!!
1400KG isn't ridiculous nowadays. GTE's in the WEC weigh "1245 kg (weight of the car without driver, fuel or fluids on board)" - FIA
I always enjoyed the V8SC in Toca driver 2
it is my dream to fly my 6L v8 holden ute over there just for one lap, after turbo install ofcourse
Hey guys, slidey Nordschleife boy here
Good quote in the description.
Such perfect timing, I was in Jamie's 2017 championship car 3 days ago with Shane driving it
Would have been a cool call back if you used your livery from the Bathurst 1000 live stream haha
That was very cool....love Holdens...
Would be a long video or series but would love to see hot laps from similar cars from 50's then 60s then 70s etc etc
Jimmers is going to be a tired boi after this weekend.
We own this car 2017 Chevy SS, Holden commodore brought to the Us with Chevy badges👌💪
That's awesome. But the road going version has almost nothing in common with the touring car. :(
Hang onto it they don't make them anymore be worth a fortune in 20 years
Russe no they won’t. The few that are on US roads will be broken down, rusted out wrecks in 6 years or so. Not collectors pieces, just another failed GM experiment. I just wish GM brought them up here to Canada, they would have sold. GM sucks because they don’t know their true customer market.
@@kevinW826 you always get people that dont look after their car,the reason why they stopped is because gm didnt want any opposition, holden should have never merged with gm in the first place but i wasnt born when it was,but if it hadnt theyd be still goin
Why would anybody dislike any of your videos?
I wish I had a XXXX to drink while watching this.
BTCC car please. Bonus points for a super touring-era car.
AUSTRALIA!!!
There is some more aero at the back on the under side and the front splitter does a lot but still🤙🏿🇦🇺🏎
What game is this
Love the video Jimmy.
What's good Jimmer
To this day Jimmy I can't figure out how you talk so properly while driving fast, my brain turns to mush due to all of the focus on the road!
Should drive this car again but using the heel toe like they do in the real car
car sound was perfect
Hit a 7:11 in forza 4 in a v8 supercar, definitely funnest laps of the green hell ive done in fm4
One of the best sounding cars the in the game.
Im surprised you didn't use the clutch because we use them here in the Supercars
Matthew Christie I did a little in practice, but i wanted to try and improve my blipping as I'm pretty bad at it atm
had fun watching thanks.
