Thanks to an article that listed off dark animated films from the 1970s, I was introduced to this just yesterday. I finally wanted to check it out. I haven't felt such an unsettling feeling from an animated film since Watership Down (and that movie is even darker). This made me think about those movies that were made in the time of nostalgia, except, not all animated movies that were made back then (or any other years in between) were meant for kids. The atmosphere of this film went in different directions for me, because it reminded me of the old animated films that sent chills down my spine. Happiness, sadness, anger, determination, aggressiveness, and even guilt, were all the feelings I felt from this movie, and they all hit me in different parts of my heart.
This song is a great representation of childhood in general at the beginning chirin is like a kindergartener who is so innocent spends his days playing doing crafts learning numbers and shape in a fun way watching baby shoes then comes grade school where you learn how serious education really is where your. Parents get tougher and push you to study
Melissa Barr with older cartoons of this type , they tend to teach a moral and show you the grim reality of life , unlike Disney that seems to somehow turn it into a happy ending but teaches nothing but no matter what you do it will always be ok in the end without any consequences , I prefer these older cartoons , this one teaches a lot about what vengeance can do to someone , and can turn you into a bigger monster than the monster you sought revenge on for killing his mother but in the end you no longer have a home or friends , I can actually relate very strongly to this cartoon Has nothing really to do with emo of today. Lol
@@cd3064 If you have such a negative opinion about Disney, then you just watched the wrong cartoons. For example, there is Pocahontas or The Fox and the Hound. They had bittersweet endings with meaning
