Here is my take on this matter as a Filipino.
He or She is not entirely wrong on what was said on the video about the Philippines and the Filipinos. Just like any other countries specially those
developing ones has its own flaws and Philippines has no exception.
Living in the Philippines - Yes, it is true that living here can be a bit expensive due to electricity, and gasoline price hikes in which we do not have control over. However, this is only applicable if you're living in a more developed cities like BGC in Taguig, Makati, and Quezon City for example. But us living in the province, we may not have a lavish lifestyle but we are living the life we wanted and it's cheap. We plant vegestable for our personal consumption.
About women- This is true and false. Those women who took advantage of foriegners is not the majority. Our women here are looking for genuine love. Now, if you're a foriegner who fall in love with a Filipina woman and you provided her with everything, trust me, you will be loved, served, cared for all eternity and I am not even exaggerating hahaha.
Filipinos expect anything in return - True and false. If you're a foriegner and you ask for a service from a local like having a tour guide, are you just going to thank them for the service they offered? Trust me when I say this, if you genuinely interact with a Filipinos and show them respect, you will be embraced and will become a part of theor families. So if you're avting like we'ke kind of stupid or being an
a$$hol3, then you'll get back the same treatment you gave us.
To sum this up, just genuinely respect locals and this is not only for the Philppines but for every country that you will visit and you will see tye beauty of that place and the people❤

Being a Filipino, I love those vloggers who always promote the beauty of the Philippines, because they will boost our tourism industry. We all knew that most countries have their own Pros & Cons. And if you are a vlogger you're free to whatever contents you would like on your video or channel. TH-cam has no rules or policy that you must show or tell the viewers the negative side of every country you visited. If there is a TH-cam policy that every video uploaded must reveal the bright & dark side of that country then that vlogger is telling a lie because of showing only the bright side. Please don't come to our country if you just want to tell the whole world that Philippines is unpleasant to visit, you are not welcome here. And we are not promoting sex tourism in our place but if you are looking for your lifetime partner then you can come here but be respectful to our culture. That channel wants to spike his number of views only and has a personal agenda about the Philippines, and besides we don't know how true it is that he lives here more than a decade.

I’ve been to other countries and seen the same things he mentioned. There are always 2 sides to the story and it is up to you to find the the silver lining. If you focus on the negative then you’ll never enjoy and adapt whichever place you go. You have to look at the brighter side, let it overshadow the dim ones, and appreciate them.

Maybe because Ovela is coming to the Philippines soon and so maybe he is background checking to be aware of the country he'll be going to regardless of its good and bad side, that's actually a smart way to know the place you've never been to, and not only that it also gives knowledge to all foreign tourists, I always love transparency and all I can say is that every country has its own flaws, negative and positive sides, etc. Have a safe travel Ovela and enjoy your stay there.

Why would he accuse others of lying???! That is their own experience and perception. Lying is not telling the truth. When other foreigners say that Filipinos are friendly, there is no lie in that. They didn’t say ALL Filipinos are. When they say that women in the Philippines are caring, there’s no lie in that either! No one said ALL women in the Philippines are.
He can simply title his video with “my own view of the Philippines”, and say whatever he wants to say. To discredit other people’s opinion is ridiculous!

No one is denying the other side of the coin. Those beautiful places Filipinos are bragging about are still true. I don't know the intention of those who made this video, but as a Filipino who wants to invite a foreigner to visit my country, its my responsibility to introduce beautiful places for tourism purposes and beautiful traits of our people and invite them to see it for themselves. Our economic problem is the least of their concern and purpose. They will come here to see our beautiful country which is still indeed true. When we say our country is beautiful, we mean its worth visiting for. Political and economic problems are no longer their concern. Let me reiterate that, that problem stays with us Filipinos alone and has nothing to do foreigners who will come to spend holidays or vacations. The video is meant to debunk our claims that Philippines and its people are generally good and beautiful. Images in this video are of course true, but it has nothing to do with anyone's interest especially foreigners to experience Philippines themselves that is generally beautiful in all aspect. I said, generally, because political and economic flaws of our country would never determine that still Philippines and its people are beautiful in general. History and international community has proven this claim.

    Just some good advice:
    1. CASH - always have with you a cash (Small bills as much as possible 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100) but dont bring too much cash coz you might lost it. Cash is more useful than cards.
    2. Apps - Food apps, delivery apps, transport apps...
    3. ID's - specially drivers license coz you'll probably drive. rent a car sometimes or rent a motorbike in the province
Lastly know how to "BARGAIN" never say yes immediately. always say the lowest price or ask until you both agree on price. 😂😂😂

This particular vlogger, whoever he may be, tends to make sweeping generalizations that imply certain issues are exclusive to the Philippines and do not occur in other countries. For instance, he discusses the topic of homeless Filipinos, but it's important to note that homelessness is a widespread issue in various countries, including the United States. In fact, homelessness can be observed in the streets of major U.S. cities, where individuals often establish makeshift campsites. In the Philippines, such situations are relatively isolated, particularly in major cities like BGC, where it's uncommon to see people setting up tents or sleeping on the streets.
One notable aspect is that the vlogger chooses not to reveal his face, which can be seen as a way of making generalized statements without taking personal responsibility or accountability for his statements.

To be fair every country has their PROS and CONS. So do your research properly before going to a certain country. And make your decision from there. When you go to a 3rd world country you don't expect the same luxury as you have when you're coming from a first world country. Not all Filipinos are good same as to other human beings. I can just talk from experience how I was treated first time in the UK. I had my own expectations too and it changed. I was asked by most people the question. How did I learn English coz apparently my English is good. In my mind so these people has no clue that English is also taught in some Asian countries. Anyways we can all go on and on but at the end of the day there's no perfect world.

First thing to do upon arrival...
Option 1. Make sure to have a taxi service from the airport to the hotel. (Ask your hotel if they have)
    2. Or... at the airport, purchase a 500 peso load for wifi/internet less than usd10 i think is the minimum and download grab... then book your transport through the app. There are loads that does not have expiry. Go for SMART... Signal is much better within the metro...
    3. Or... approach the airport personnel outside and be on thr look out for the proper airport taxi service that does not charge extra. If you are staying at BGC from airport to bgc will not cost you 1,000 pesos or less than 20usd... if they do then dont go there.

What's wrong with this guy is that he is generalizing the bad things like with women. How about those foreigners who lived happily with Filipinos? There would certainly be pros and cons but I don't agree that the You Tubers or Vloggers are telling lies about the Philippines most specially when they are just Tourists or Travel Vloggers because they are just showing their amazing experiences. It's a different thing living in the Philippines and I do see that foreigners do say their honest opinions when interviewed. I myself would agree that we are underdeveloped and poverty is a problem due to corruption. But we are developing now with our current President. You would just certainly be not too comfortable and expect too much and of course always be cautious most specially when you are in a foreign place. But what I can say is that Filipinos normally respect and welcoming to foreign people coming here and there are certainly amazing places to visit. That's a FACT. 😉

The Philippines has been invaded and colonized by Spain, Britain (Manila only), America, and Japan. But we fought back openly, through revolts, and also via guerrilla warfare. Do you think that such an oppressive history won't leave a mark on our people? We're happy to be respected and treated fairly but we can also fight back in a certain fashion if any foreigner scatters lies and oppression again like others did in the past. So let's see if the treatment is honest and fair.

Most of the things that this guy mentioned in this video happens in big cities like Manila. I've been in many cities around the world, homeless, beggars, opportunists, pick-pocketeers, thieves are everywhere. True that there is no divorce in the Philippines, but if you are a foreigner wed to a Filipino you can get divorced--that's the law.
Funny, he didn't mention about the horrible traffic in Manila which is the main problem for tourists and locals alike. 😅

Every forest are lots of snakes living in the forest, but it’s up to you to choose where to past by look for safety to walk. Same thing in every country has their own chaos. Philippines is a country you can see a different lifestyle. You just need to be smart for your own good

i beg to disagree, yes there are some peeps, especially in the city that may want something from you but a lot of the peeps even the poorest have the purest heart..if your intentions are not pure clearly the one you'll be associated with or gravitate to are the same persons like you that will take advantage of you.

Update - that channel called The Philippines Truth is now inactive and the creator has made a new one called The Philippines Facts, "facts!". Well he does the same thing, even worse now. He has more than just criticisms, they're all full of anger and disgust for the Philippines no matter how "informative" he tries to pass them. Also, you will notice the same users commenting slanderous things about Filipinos and the Philippines. He still hides his identity and creates contents from stories in the comments to news that are out of ordinary, means does not represent the whole Philippines. It's important to be critical when entertaining such contents.

Sadly, we have what we call the "Filipino time" where people disrespect each other's time such as being habitually late on an event or meet-up. Or if the majority of the attendees are already in the place of the event, in many instances, it took forever for the organizer to start the event. But not all Filipinos have this kind of demeaning attitude. It always depends on the person. Another thing worth mentioning is where Japan is organized in terms of sanitation, e.g. garbage collection. Many Filipinos are wanting in this respect. So expect to see uncollected trash being dumped everywhere especially in the cities and municipalities. Marikina City is pretty much organized when it comes to cleanliness and I heard this is also seen in Clark, Pampanga, too. As far as I know, BGC is also organized in this particular aspect and possibly in other cities in Metro Manila and other parts of the country. But as a whole, this is more of an exception rather than the rule. At any rate, this all boils down to discipline. Of course, no country is perfect either. Every country has its own upsides and downsides. But Filipinos in general are honest, cheerful, peace-loving and kind-hearted people. Say for instance, expect a foreigner to get a positive response or be greeted in return (e.g. through simple gestures like hi or hello or a smile) when some random Filipinos are asked for directions or greeted.

If he is really telling the truth why not show his identity, every country has scammer, dark side and bad people, but if TH-camr says Filipino are the nicest, hospitable, friendly people I believed that, As a matter of fact Phillipines already hits its annual visitors target at 3rd quarter of this year, if we are not good people they will not come to our country also voted as no.1 country by cruise ship as destination in Asia this year,
I think this man is heart broken gone broke, broke his heart, expect too much, my advice to him don't pretend to be rich, his kind of vlogging also is very controversial for curiousity so as people watch his vlog hmmmpp 😒

The Filipinos are very thrifty and they don't want to waste anything. Sadly this carry over in business. It is common practice to understock supplies sacrificing customer service over getting a loss from overstocking. This is especially common on restaurant businesses because of perishable supplies

Will he do a performance as a critic of Ph socio-economic and political "concerns" acting out the white-man's-burden dystopia? We need more of those silly loud-mouth tourists-gone-bad in the country and catch up with Japan.
